Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Well that was a lovely way to wake up unctrollable retching over the sink (was getting a drink from the kitchen) with nothing to come outexcept bile and a tiny bit of wee

We're off to a wedding today so should get myself up properly soon. DS is off the dp's parents then we've got to drive to Kent.
12 weeks today - really want to tell people so it can explain why we've pulled out of staying in a shared bell tent in the forest and lack of drinking plus mega tum (i need a toilet near by), but scan isn't til weds ...

coastergirl · 16/08/2014 07:30

eatscake you watch Criminal Minds? I've just started watching it and I'm obsessed!

my dreams have been incredibly vivid too. I've just woken up and had dreams about miscarriage. Probably because I had some bleeding yet again last night. Roll on Tuesday for my scan.

Surfsup1 · 16/08/2014 07:47

Getting very inspired by the idea of being more carrier focused and less pram focused this time around, although I may need to rethink the whole nappy bag arrangement? How do you manage both?

When I had my DS1 I bought (2nd hand mind you) one of those gorgeous but absurdly expensive Bill Amberg papooses. Thankfully I had a tiny baby because they are farm from ideal in terms of ergonomics. God I loved that thing - it let me pretend I was still cool while I wiped vomit out of my hair.
In the end it got nicked by (I think) a plumber. That was a sad, sad day.

What's the latest and greatest in the pram department? I'm 8 years out of date! Loved my Maclaren Techno XLR - so easy to use.

KeeperOfTheZoo · 16/08/2014 08:12

eats sorry I tried to reply yesterday afternoon but the app was playing up on my phone and wouldn't let me Sad. He wouldn't just stay in his room and at the minute we have no baby gate on his door, although we will have to get one soon as we're thinking about taking the side off his cot and preparing him for a big boy bed.

I ended up just lounging on the sofa with DS playing and watching cbeebies. It did help and I was able to eat something at TGI's Smile.

I think I might be brave and join the fb group today - I'll pm later when I'm on the laptop rather than my phone.

lotsoftoast · 16/08/2014 08:26

surfs - I wore a practical but unstylish rucksack. May procure something prettier this time!

The uppababy vista is a firm favourite pram wise these days, followed by bugaboos, icandys, quinnys and silver cross. It is a v personal choice but if I was buying another pram I would go for the uppababy

fishfingerSarnies · 16/08/2014 08:31

Hey surfs the changing bag is the only problem with sling, I used a back back with bits in but always found it really annoying, actually still sling my dd some times and she's 2 it's so much easier now as she doesn't require bring loads of shit with her just some wipes and a bib usually is all I need for a day out, the down side is she ways a freaking ton. Ha
Would love to hear how other people carried all the crap you need when slinging. I used cloth nappies so they take up so much room in changing bags.
Though I was feeling a little better today but no just had a nice vomiting sesh. The joys.

pinkandstripey · 16/08/2014 08:39

I'll talk all day about the merits of the vista! Love love love e mine!

queef you're a scan twin (triplet!) with me and foscar :)

I gave up smoking when I found out I was pregnant with ds, and all through the pregnancy I had a terrible cough, like a real smokers cough. It disappeared after giving birth. Well, it's back :( I've not even looked at a cigarette since then, but I sound and feel like I smoke 40 a day, swear I'm going to lose a lung or something :(

ZebraZeebra · 16/08/2014 08:39

To be honest most days we were just walking around pretty local. So a few nappies, pack of wipes, couple of vests and baby gros did the job. They don't need toys for the first few months when out and about and you only really need to cover for nappy changes. And of course bottles /formula if bottle feeding. But definitely not the legions of stuff you think you do.

DS was an autumn baby and had the gorgeous white snow suit - he looked like a snowman. I took him on the train in the sling from South London to North west London where DH was working - DS of course did a massive leaky poonami all in his suit and I only had spare vests/baby gros. I had to rinse the inside and amazingly got the yellow stains out. It dried pretty quickly and no harm was done all. All I had were wipes, nappies and spare clothes. Definitely not the disaster I thought it was when I heard the rumblings of a massive poo!

ZebraZeebra · 16/08/2014 08:40

I still have that snow suit. sob Such lovely early baby days.

fishfingerSarnies · 16/08/2014 08:46

Oh god I do not miss those new born poos! My dd was a poo machine our house was spattered with poo for the first 3 months. It did make us laugh, a lot.

ZebraZeebra · 16/08/2014 08:52

Hahaha splattered, like a horror film!

Maybe bizarrely but I quite liked the BF poos. I think you're biologically tuned to not mind them - it's the only explanation! They're so sweet smelling and inoffensive...unlike when you start weaning and there's veg and meat and fruit involved...

diggerdigsdogs · 16/08/2014 08:58

Dc1 &2 have watched tv all day as I've been throwing my guts up. Dh is away but bless him checking on me frequently. I've asked the baby sitter to come in tomorrow morning to give the dc breakfast and play with them for a bit so I can sleep and try to keep water down.

I promise I'm not such a misery guts come 2nd trimester!

I'm determined I'll just get a backpack for a change bag this time. No idea how else I can do it with the dc and cross body bags look awful on my boobs.

fishfingerSarnies · 16/08/2014 09:01

New born bf poo smells like cottage cheese.

ZebraZeebra · 16/08/2014 10:01

Ds's smelt like sweet yoghurt but we started giving him baby biotics from a week old so that could have been the fermented smell.

mariomadmum · 16/08/2014 10:08

ooh I love bf baby poo! well I dont love it but its definitely preferable to poos they do when on solids!

KentExpecting · 16/08/2014 10:12

Gee, what's with the poo talk this morning? Trying to keep my breakfast down over here!

MotherOfInsomniacToddlers · 16/08/2014 10:16

I always thought newborn poos smelt like bread cooking. The amount of accidental nappy changes I've done because of the bread maker!!Grin

Sp1rals · 16/08/2014 13:50

Yes breasted poo is practically perfume compared to when the food kicks in... Regarding prams/buggies, I had a bugaboo and i have to say I loved it. So light, loved the way it could turn on itself for tight spaces, very cosy. Mine is four years old so I'll probably just get a new set of fabric for it in a different colour, will feel like a new one!

How is everyone's sickness? I have been on tablets for a week but am still very very sick. Am vomiting occasionally but it's more extreme nausea, pretty much 24/7.

fishfingerSarnies · 16/08/2014 14:00

I don't know if I should be tempting fate by saying this but I'm feeling so much better... Only been sick once and not felt too sick all day! Might even leave the house (first time in 6 days) this afternoon.

eatscakefornoreasonwhatsoever · 16/08/2014 14:39

Coastergirl - I was obsessed with crime dramas I my first pg. Where we lived had Sky plus included abs I swear I watched every episode of criminal minds ever. Haven't watched anything scary at all since we left that flat two years ago but the dreams are horrid!

I'm giving up on a change bag this time and just going for a nice back pack. Far more useful and comfortable, esp with a sling. I use little cloth draw string bags to keep things organised inside it (nappies in one. Clothes in another etc)

Bf baby poo smells like toffee yoghurt. I loved it. So excited about breastfeeding again. Does that make me weird?

Having a much better day today. Went swimming with the boys, the went to a cafe, then the shops then had pizza for lunch! a definite improvement :) Just hope it lasts

fishfingerSarnies · 16/08/2014 15:39

Oh bugger, dd has just done some sort of leaking massive poo and wee in her nap time nappy, I've had to strip bed and shower her off and the nappy is so vile I had to rinse it for ages by hand so now feeling awful and sick again and probably won't be leaving the flat anytime soon.

M27J5M · 16/08/2014 17:45

Brummiegirl15 · 16/08/2014 18:54

I am so excited about pram shopping!!!!! I've been researching and quite like idea of icandy or Bugaboo. Question I have though is - you defo need a carrycot for when they are newborns is that right? Seems that Bugaboo has a carrycot included but icandy doesn't and is extra. It's a minefield!!!!!

M27J5M · 16/08/2014 18:58

I'll defo be getting 1 with a carry cot, I had a mamas and papas last time and loved it but they have nothing in a similar style this time :/
