Pintoftea - I did my back in lifting ds when he was about 5 months old. The only time I felt comfortable was when I had him wrapped against me in a woven wrap as it helped support my back! It also helped massively with establishing bf and forming the bond that we struggled with due to a traumatic birth.

Toast- I'm a regular lurker on bwfsot and the fispi pagesbut I haven't stalked anything since DS was little and I finally got my hands on a RSI I had been lusting after. I wonder if I'll get all obsesso again with this one? I 'only' have 4 wraps and a moby now. Would like to try a JPMBB though and love the petrol honey fish so I might fall foul of it!

Got my scan date today, 8th September! Hurry up September!!

mariomadmum · 15/08/2014 07:39

when wil ms let up Sad i know I shouldnt complain but I'm so fed up with constant nausea. 8 weeks today!

Butterpuff · 15/08/2014 07:46

Morning all,

So I didn't want to post yesterday as it felt unfair to fergie. But had my scan and all went well. Baby was sleeping when we looked, but after some strong poking woke up and started doing summersaults! Heartbeat was strong all the right number of limbs and bigger than expected. 6cm so I have been told I'm further ahead than thought 12 weeks 4 days today. Due date is now 23rd Feb. But I hope you don't mind me staying here anyway. It was amazing to see but hard to believe that little tiny living wiggling human is in my belly. DH and I were stunned into silence at how amazing it all is. Results back in a couple of weeks. But now we get to start telling people. Grin

Rainbow555 · 15/08/2014 07:46

I feel the same Mario! I feel a little bit better this week at 9 weeks than last week, but whilst the all day nausea has eased, the dry retching has ramped up massively! But at least I feel a bit more like myself this week. Fx it eases for you soon and we all start to bloom around 12 weeks (I know it sounds ages away!)

Rainbow555 · 15/08/2014 07:48

Yay butterpuff that is great news! How exciting I can't wait for mine! Glad all is as it should be :)

ZebraZeebra · 15/08/2014 07:58

I never felt like I'd trip and I found walking a bit of a chore for a few weeks afterwards - a back to back labour screwed up my hips and I was in pain for a long time. But although they feel big by the end, newborns are tiny and very light. Especially in comparison to lugging at 12 month old around on your back! I did go through the whole "is he suffocating" thing but as long as you can get fingers between their chin and chest, they're fine. I think you start to feel like a sling veteran pretty quickly. It's such a lovely, snuggly, wonderful way to go out with them and I kept him in a sling on me around the house too - like has been said, it just extends that wonderful bond and them feeling your heartbeat and snuggling into you. I was in so much shock after a traumatic birth, I don't think I truly appreciated how wonderful the slinging was for me and DS but this time I intend to savour every moment!

As long as it has good lumbar support I.e around the waist your back will be fine. I don't know why I never tried a Moby, they look fab. We bought a Kari Me which is a stretchy wrap but I struggled in the beginning handling tiny DS and wrapping it but then someone gave us a Close - another stretchy fabric wrap - and it was perfect for us.

Glad everything checked out fine Panda!

Still feel so ill but having a few better moments. Would also like to get off the starchy carbs! 10+3 today.

ZebraZeebra · 15/08/2014 08:01

Yay Butterpuff! It's such a magical moment. I cried the first time (and probably every time after).

JammyTodger · 15/08/2014 08:28

Congrats butterpuff!

I'm another sling lover, although had a bad start with a Baby Bjorn and Babasling. I soon converted to a Mai tai and used it all the time. So much more convenient when the shopping in town (easy to go to the loo!), and then just shove it in your bag when they start toddling but need the odd rest. My sling is the only baby thing I kept from last time and I'm so looking forward to using it again.

FoscarC · 15/08/2014 08:59

Great news butterpuff that's so exciting! It's great that people are now getting dating scans. It's like we are all moving along nicely. I bet it was weird to see the little baby inside you. But so so reassuring and the most wonderful experience I imagine. I can't wait for mine on Wednesday!! Have a brilliant weekend everyone.

FoscarC · 15/08/2014 09:01

Oooh and thanks for all the sling advice. I really want a sling but as a first timer I have no idea and all you seem to get pushed at is baby bjorns so it's good to know the ones you all recommend as I'd prefer a material one that is less formed and more like a wrap.

ohfourfoxache · 15/08/2014 09:12

I can sympathise Mario, the constant nausea is just dreadful. It's so draining. I've got to the point where I don't think I can do this anymore Sad - been off work for the last 5 weeks and I can barely move Sad

smokeandglitter · 15/08/2014 09:17

Hi everyone!

Need to catch up on this thread! Sorry I've not been around for so long, my job has just been so hectic and for a while stress overtook me but I'm back now and feeling great. A week off and visiting family starting tonight so excited for that. All is going well except I feel like a balloon.

Love to all, will rtft asap. Smile

fourmonthstogo · 15/08/2014 09:28

I'm another one who would warn against the baby bjorn sling, got given one last time and whilst it was fine at first the lack of lumbar support after a while was a nightmare. I'll definitely be getting a different one this time, I love the ergobaby. It'll make it easier for me to play with dd too without having to constantly drag a buggy across the park/wherever we are.

eatscakefornoreasonwhatsoever · 15/08/2014 09:31

Second hand mobys are reasonably cheap and if you get one with a fabric panel they can last for quite a while as the fabric provides a bit of extra support once baby gets heavier. I ended up having to carry a two year old in one of these once and it was doable and reasonably supportive - not that I'd choose it add a regular thing for a child that size!

Also, I know it sounds mad, but I really missed my bump at first and a baby in a sling helps recreate the feeling. Aww. I'm so looking forward to newborn slingy cuddles again.

WittgensteinsBunny · 15/08/2014 09:42

So sorry Fergie what a dreadful shock :( take good care of yourself.

I've just booked my booking in appointment; I'm 8 weeks today.

Nausea was appalling this morning and I'm just about to make second breakfast. Marmite and cheese on toast. Then a day full of play dates for dd and hopefully a rest for me! I haven't been sick yet and was vomming loads at this point with dd. Fingers crossed. Ms is the pits.

Dd will only be 21 months when dc2 is due. We've got a Cham 3, which I love love love (couldn't recommend highly enough), an ergobaby, which was an awesome investment. We'll need to buy a newborn insert as we got it when dd was 4 months and holding herself properly. And I have a moby, which I didn't really get to grips with but it was the middle of last years heatwave when I was trying to use it and it was just uncomfortable for us both so we just used our first pram, the bjcm GT. Great pram but I didn't like that it didn't parent face and dd was too big for the carrycot by 10 weeks! I think we're going to try and manage with a buggy and sling to start with and maybe buggy / buggy board but I'm eyeing up a few of the doubles, especially the bugaboo donkey, as it can go between single & double.

Hope everyone has a good day today.

M27J5M · 15/08/2014 09:49

That's great to hear butter Smile I'm getting really excited for next week now to get an early peek at my wee peanut Smile

diggerdigsdogs · 15/08/2014 09:51

Ohfox I feel the same. Sympathy, a sick bag, ginger sweets and sisterly fist bump from me.

Had my dating scan today and have had my dtes revised back by a week to 7 weeks today and my edd as March 29. Very exciting to see the wee heartbeat though.

Also turns out I've been taking something that made me hyper fertile Hmm so looks like dc3 isn't THAT much of a surprise.

diggerdigsdogs · 15/08/2014 09:52

Also ergo carriers are fab.

PickledPorcupine · 15/08/2014 09:52

Good to know you're just stretching panda and great scan news butter. Can't wait for mine, hopefully I get my appointment when I book in next week.

KeeperOfTheZoo · 15/08/2014 09:56

Brilliant news butterpuff, so glad everything looks good!

Not feeling too bad this morning but then I have noticed more of a pattern to my MS over the last few days - I feel quite good in the mornings, as long as I don't let myself get hungry. A nibble on a biscuit/cracker/piece of toast is enough to keep the worst at bay. However, as the day goes in I seem less able to combat it, so that it ends up with me eating a child's-sized tea at best then feeling ridiculously sick all evening til I eventually give up and go to bed at about 9 o'clock Sad.

Out for a meal tonight at TGI Friday for DH birthday - just hope I can actually eat something !

Oh well I shouldn't moan (but will probably continue to do so....)

Safra72 · 15/08/2014 10:03

madas the wrap ones only take a minute to put on, once you've done it a few times there really is nothing to it. I used to put it on to pop into the supermarket - even a 20 min shop was worth carrying him for. :)

madasacatter · 15/08/2014 10:12

Awesome, thanks for the tip Safra :)

Really excited to hear about the lovely scans, I'm glad you are staying with us butterpuff

I have a scan at FMC with harmony test tomorrow, soooo excited, but also really annoyed that the trains are off so it will take almost 3 hours to get there instead of 1 :(

According to my dates I should be 10+6, but I'm sure they'll adjust that :)

eatscakefornoreasonwhatsoever · 15/08/2014 10:33

keeper - sounds like tiredness is exacerbating the sickness. Can you have a afternoon nap to make dinner out easier?

smokeandglitter · 15/08/2014 10:39

Fergie, so sorry to hear about your loss. I hope you've got support around you and I send lots of love.

Butter, congrats on your scan!

I really want to use a sling. Haven't thought far enough ahead as to which one yet as only 9+1.
