Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Pinksun12 · 11/08/2014 15:13

I won't any mat clothes either and stupidly gave all mine away after last pregnancy.
Ugh, just found out that my next scan isn't until 10.9.! Then I'm already 13 weeks! (Not in the uk) I'm nervous as it is as I hardly felt sick today.

MyPandaisasecretmonster · 11/08/2014 16:20

Quick question , I'm trying to work out my cycle length but I haven't a clue, can anybody help Blush

I always start on the 3rd of each month & last 3 days.

I'm just wanting to work out a rough idea of dates

FoscarC · 11/08/2014 16:52

I think that if you always start on the third you probably have an about 30 day cycle. I'm not sure you can tell from that I go when you ovulate. Which would give you a clearer idea of when you conceived. And also not sure if or how your period length alters things? I know cycle length can change due date. They normally say you ovulate about 2 weeks after the first day of your last period - I think.
Hope this helps but I am in no way an expert.

coastergirl · 11/08/2014 17:05

It must vary a little if you always start on the third, as not every month is the same length. But like Foscar said, around 30 days. They do say that you usually ovulate around day 14, but I know that I for one, don't! I ovulate really late. I conceived on or just after day 25!! I'm not sure exactly how long my cycle is as I hadn't been tracking it, but it certainly used to be around 32 days, so I really do ovulate very late for such a average length cycle.

MyPandaisasecretmonster · 11/08/2014 17:08

I have no clue when it comes to ovulation etc as I was just about to start tracking etc when I finally fell pregnant, thanks though

according to the NHS calculator I'm 9 weeks today Smile.

HollyBen · 11/08/2014 17:13

panda I wouldn't worry to much about cycle length. Midwife/gp will give you a due date based on lp. Tjis may well change after your 12 week dating scan where they date the pg based on length of baby.

MyPandaisasecretmonster · 11/08/2014 17:17

I was just wondering as I'm quite obviously pregnant now and I was panicking that I were further gone than I thought Smile

It will be a while before I go for my dating scan yet as still need to be reffered to the midwife via my GP

KentExpecting · 11/08/2014 18:13

Mini NHS rant: I met a midwife called Kirsty at my booking appointment. Kirsty told me she was holiday cover for a lady called Marnie, who would be the midwife I'll see for all other appointments. Then I called this Marnie with a question and she told me that she was only standing in for yet another midwife called Pippa, who is, however, thinking about retiring and may or may not be my midwife. However, if I have any questions, can I please call Pippa because she'll be able to tell me who I should really be calling if I have questions.

Come on guys... How hard can it be???

Rant over.

MyPandaisasecretmonster · 11/08/2014 18:31

Kent That sounds terrible, could you switch surgeries at all, I'd hate to be pushed from pillar to post as how could you be confident when you have a different midwife every week

woodlandwanderwoman · 11/08/2014 18:39

Kent I had the same concerns in my first pregnancy.

My booking in appt and all "procedures" around pregnancy care were completely chaotic to the point I was in tears with worry over what to expect and who could help me.

I went to see a very kind female doctor for results and check at 16weeks and she was the first person who actually asked how I was feeling. I told her everything including that we were debating going private (in London) because I felt like there was no support at the surgery, in fact, they had left me feeling worse than before I'd gone in.

She immediately empathised and referred me instead to another practice which had the one on one midwife system and I had the most kind, caring, supportive and attentive round midwife I could ever have hoped for throughout and after my pregnancy. The only reason she wasn't at my birth was because they were a midwife down the night ds arrived.

Moral of the story, if you're unhappy or worried, don't be afraid to say so. If you don't ask, you don't get (and someone else will).

woodlandwanderwoman · 11/08/2014 18:41

Just to add, I don't think having different midwives would be a problem (I have different midwives throughout this pregnancy as no other option) but it's about doing so in a safe, supportive, coordinated and professional manner.

headlesschicken247 · 11/08/2014 18:52

Must admit with my first I had a different midwife at every appt. Wasn't an issue though.
Just got my booking in appt sorted today and it's not til 6th Sept. I'll be 12+3 then. Hoping my scan comes before that.

MyPandaisasecretmonster · 11/08/2014 19:00

I'm not sure whether to wait until my Go appointment on weds afternoon or not as this is my first Blush

For the past few hours I have felt extremely lethargic & I go Dizzy everything I stand up or move & I'm sweating cobs even though I'm shivering, if I wasn't pregnant I'd definitely leave it to just go away Blush

Just don't want the hospital thinking I'm a Nutter and wasting their time

eatscakefornoreasonwhatsoever · 11/08/2014 19:15

I had a lovely mw last time. She's moved away now but we're still in touch via fb. I wish she could have been at my birth but I was (wrongly) sent off to the hospital to labour which is where it all went pete tong. Sigh.

Hence why I have IM this time. Luckily we're doing a work swap as she is in need of my skills. Couldn't afford her otherwise

fishfingerSarnies · 11/08/2014 20:01

The thought of having one mw is lovely, don't think I saw a mw more than once with my last pregnancy and labour, apart from the one I complained about who I ended up with in recovery!
She had big false nails and put my pessary in to start my induction! Painful is not the word, she also made rude comments to my husband about what women go through for men??
Mypanda I'd just take it easy drink lots of water and if your worried ring 111 (think that's the number for the NHS directy people) and describe ypu symptoms.

FoscarC · 11/08/2014 20:24

mypanda I'd call Nhs direct. The cold and shivery doesn't sound very nice and you need to look after yourself. Other than that how are you feeling? No other pain?

Rainbow555 · 11/08/2014 20:43

Panda, that doesn't sound very nice! Hope you are feeling better soon.

I have a presentation at work today but the retching this morning has been evil. I was taking b6 with ginger but the ginger was making me burp! So have stopped - can't seem to find something to keep this at bay!

Fergie11 · 11/08/2014 21:03

My panda I agree you should call nhs24 as it's worth getting yourself checked out.

I had my booking in appointment today and I was given date for my 12 week scan 27th august...only 16 sleeps!!!!

junkfoodaddict · 11/08/2014 21:27

I think I saw three different MWs at my appointments during the run up to labour. One of those MWs is the 'regular' one for the surgery and when I was there for my UTI last Wednesday, which is the MW day at our surgery, it was the 'regular' one which I am pleased about because she is calm, caring and very gentle.
I have no idea who took care of me in hospital with DS. I was in for a week and in a bad way so hopefully this time I will be a little bit more observant.
I have been testing travel/pram systems today. We got rid of the silver cross linear freeway after DS because we didn't think we'd have another. So we have looked at the Graco Evo XT, The Oyster, Mama and Papas Sola2 and Sola City. The Oyster was originally my favourite but I love the Graco Evo XT. It ticks all our boxes. Not committing until we know DC2 is healthy and kicking at the 12 week scan and even then, waiting until the sales.
I have had another dose of hormones today. Boobs are killing me. Boght two maternity bras but they only go up to a G cup which I am BEFORE adding the pregnancy to them!!!
I am 8 weeks today. Grin

fishfingerSarnies · 11/08/2014 22:17

I've been really emotional this evening I txt my dh to say "can't stop crying, I'm so horny"(!)

I meant to say hormonal but some how wrote horny. It cheered me up though, And I'm sure my dh enjoyed it too.

okeydonkey · 11/08/2014 22:50

Hello fellow March Ladies. I'm quite big already,I met my friend today and decided after about half an hour to tell her, she said she thought I looked it but didn't want to say anything. This is my second

coastergirl · 11/08/2014 23:58

fishfinger that really made me laugh. I am emotional too. My kitten has been poorly and not eating. Tonight she tried to get into the bowl with my tea and subsequently ate quite a bit of chicken. I was so pleased I nearly cried!

I am spotting again tonight, sigh. It's like I get a couple of days respite and start believing this might be real, and then my body decides to freak me out again. Roll on next Tuesday when I'll be scanned again. It's crazy how this wasn't really planned, but I really want everything to be ok.

diggerdigsdogs · 12/08/2014 05:15

Fingers crossed for you coaster girl.

I'm booked in for dating scan on Friday. Kids spending day with baby sitter so I'm planning some solo time!

bouncesky · 12/08/2014 06:51

Durham I hope you are feeling better. I had my booking in appointment yesterday. My nausea and tiredness had started getting better as I'm 11 weeks now, but last night I began dry heaving like I have been doing but then vomited all over the hallway Hmm proper ms seems to have started at 11 weeks, just when I thought if got away with it Hmm
