Agree with tea completely re it depending on how you carry weight normally. I'm another that carries weight on my bum and thighs and not on my belly (and I'm not a small person, I'm around a size 14 when not pregnant) and I have found this has held true through my pregnancy in that my bump looks small and all baby whereas my bum and legs have definitely got (even) bigger.

6 stone! Omg poor lady, I don't suppose there was much she could do to stop it if it was diabetes related, but that really is a lot!

DearDinah · 14/08/2014 12:31

Here's me at 37+1 I feel enormous! Babies measuring normal though, I've put on 20kg! Was 60 to start, now 80, has to borrow clothes from friends in the end.

TheOnlySeven · 14/08/2014 13:39

cookie congratulations, can't wait to hear all about it.

bug I developed symptoms of PE from 32 weeks in my first pregnancy. Hospital kept me in for monitoring from 35+2 and planned to induce at 36 weeks due to very high BP (200/110) but I delivered naturally at 35+5. Rest assured that if they were concerned about the baby they'd be making plans to induce.

Congratulations cookie!

Have had a bit of a baby focused day today. Was at my hospital this morning for the bi-weekly monitoring. As usual they didn't really explain anything other than to tell me to come back on Monday. I had a private growth scan this afternoon because we really are struggling to get any sense out of NHS. I had an NHS scan last week and the sonographer refused to discuss the measurements, saying it wasn't her job?! So I asked the doctor in the Day Assessment Unit who said, oh it's all fine. I just don't have a huge amount of confidence in them at the moment, because every other urine sample I give, I'm told I've got a UTI. Then I'm told I don't. Very confusing.

Anyway this afternoon's scan shows that baby is on 87th percentile, projected birth weight is 9lb or thereabouts. Feels very big in comparison to DD who was 7lb4oz! Starting to get nervous because I had a 2nd degree tear with DD and no idea what an even bigger baby is going to do to me, but I can't seem to get the NHS to take me seriously and discuss it with me! I also had a very fast labour (

bugoven · 14/08/2014 16:11

Thank you everyone for sharing your PE stories.
MW today said similar to you seven about them inducing if they were concerned. My BP and Protein were the same today as Tuesday so I am considered stable but need to be checked again Saturday. I feel so rough but that might be a bug of some kind rather than PE.

I really feel for all of you with worries about baby size and growth. Hope everyone gets reassurance from helpful health professionals like I have been lucky enough to.

CoolCat2014 · 14/08/2014 16:45

I think the models for maternity clothes are only 6 months because the clothes don't actually fit by 7 months... At least not for me! I'm living in my mothers large summer dresses ATM, and with the change in weather my legs are cold :(

I've got terrible backache and pressure down below today. Is that normal or a sign that things could be progressing?

bugoven · 14/08/2014 17:35

I agree coolcat I had to rebuy at 35 weeks because my bump had outgrown my maternity wear and was popping out the bottom of my tops! The pressure and back ache could be braxton hicks. Mine definitely feel like a lot of pressure.

Hi everyone - how exciting has this thread become!

Massive congratulations Cookie, can't wait to hear all about it.

I'm 34+5 and people have been telling me all week bump has dropped. Saw midwife today and she's engaged so all feeling very real now. Really should pack hospital bag!

Snafu33 · 14/08/2014 18:21

BexBoo-my MIL is a lovely person but very opinionated & used to getting her own way (a bit like me!) but sadly doesnt seem to recognise my/our house is ours-not hers & that we are adults so consistently 'suggests' (tells me) how I should be doing things etc so things are a little tense between us. That's not the issue really but that she wants to visit the instant the baby is born. She wants to stay in our house & be joined by her husband when he finishes work at the end of the week. So if we came home from hospital on the mon she would expect to stay all week & then be joined by FIL on the weekend. EVERYONE I have spoken to/read about tells me this is a bad idea, especially as things are tense, & that the 1st few days are a special time for bonding & devloping our own new family (our 1st child). I am very concerned that I will be feeling very fragile (im an anxious person & already very concerned about the birth etc) & tired & will be potentially somewhat volatile if someone is in the house 'suggesting' what I should be doing! This 'discussion' has been going on for some time & I have managed to get a hotel stay agreed on but DH is feeling very awkward & stuck in the middle & I know this has gone down very poorly with MIL.

Mind you this all seems a bit silly with the excitement of new arrivals on the thread! Im a bit envious of those already with new additions-I wish someone could just tell me that everything will work out ok-then I could chill out & enjoy it all a bit more. Not sure people really enjoy labour but you know where I'm going with this!

We have our parent craft session next week (what a pain to book-took WEEKS!). It's 1 session for 3 hours-does this sound similar to everyone else thats done/doing it? I've not done any shopping/prep & hope that after this Ill know what to buy/pack etc.

Re bump sizes-surely we are all different-im told daily im neat/massive/having twins etc. I also carry weight on bum & hips & yet have a huge bump. If Im honest I think this is down to not controlling my self food wise at all. Its terrible but since around 27 weeks I cant help but shove everything I can find in the kitchen into my mouth! Mostly unhealthy . . . which I know will be a huge regret soon yet I just cant seem to stop.
Sorry-massive post-need to get in habit of more regular but short & sweet!Grin

CumbrianExile · 14/08/2014 18:23

Congrats Cookie Thanks

I got asked if I was expecting twins today! Good job I am not easily offended Grin

KitKat1985 · 14/08/2014 18:30

Blimey this thread is exciting at the moment! Massive congrats to cookie. :)

Really struggling with tiredness now. Aside from having to get up countless times in the night to pee, work is still incessant. This morning for example had to get up at 5.15am for work and it was a mad day on the ward, so didn't make it home until about 5.30pm this evening. My boss doesn't seem to get that I might want to start to wind down a bit now. Tomorrow she wants me to start work on a new pain in the arse project assessing and signing off all the nursing assistants as competent in performing physical health checks, even though I'm only around for another couple of weeks. Each assessment document is about 60 pages and there are about 20 nursing assistants! The other day I wasn't due into work until the afternoon and she was texting me (about something non-urgent) at 5.45am! Will be so much happier come the 29th when my leave finally starts.

Am 35+1 now and baby girl due on Sept 17th. :) At the moment my bump is still high too (keep getting a foot shoved in my ribs) and not yet had any Braxton hicks, so think I'm a little way off from baby arriving yet. Does anyone know if everyone gets Braxton Hicks or if some people just don't ever get them? x

I think whiteblossom is very stressed out with family stuff. She has been around.

Marjal12 · 15/08/2014 03:57

Oh Ella, I'm a bit jealous of you being able to get away with a Chinese on GD! (Although sorry it made you feel sick! It's quite a heavy meal though so could be just that you wolfed it and your stomach couldn't handle it?) I had a third of a curry chip last week as it was all I wanted to eat, and that measly amount sent my levels sky high! I think all I can get away with at the mo is a bit of wheaten in the morning and then salad, veg or prawns/fish at night. I miss toast soooo much!
Cookie, would love to hear birth story and name if you've decided, and hope Nazly and ilove are doing ok!

ilovemonstersinc · 15/08/2014 07:04

Oo thank you red and ella. I thought hmm theres a regular whos not here hope shes ok!

Ella atm im starving and have been since 2am this morning lol. Didnt eat much last night.

Hope nazly is doing well x

Tmi...
ive been losing lots of plug since sweep (mucus with pinky blood) and have been getting a bit of bright red blood too last night which was another reason I didnt sleep well. Any thoughts? I thought pink was ok and red not?

ilovemonstersinc · 15/08/2014 07:04

Thank you marjal. Not doing too bad just lots of crampypain with rreally intense tightenings but not regular!

OP posts:
lilone1234 · 15/08/2014 09:09

I think any bright red blood is a reason to call the hospital from what I recall reading/being told ilove. Is tomorrow the induction?

Had a dream that my waters broke last night - eek! Having lots of dreams at the moment, my brain is obviously trying to have a big sort out of my life so far!

ilovemonstersinc · 15/08/2014 09:24

It was streaks within clear mucus. Im not sure if its due to her giving me the sweep and 'bringing cervix down' thats caused it? Now its just pinky so far but absolutely loads of plug type mucus sorry tmi.
Thank you lil. Will ring if it happens again and yep induction tomorrow.

Was induced with ds2 too and contractions started before I got a bed and they were regular!

holls2000 · 15/08/2014 09:26

TeamEponine · 15/08/2014 09:30

I have a question for you lovely ladies!!!

Baby has been frank breech for ages, and I'm just about to turn 35 weeks. I have a scan on Tuesday, and at that point they might veto my prefered option of the midwife led centre if she is still breech. So for the past few days I've been doing inversions, acupuncture and moxa in an attempt to turn her.

Yesterday my bump felt a slightly different shape, but I can't really work out if she has turned or not. This morning, my bump seems to have dropped significantly! For the first time in weeks my ribs are not in pain and I feel like I can breathe. Smile Also, this morning my husband commented that my boobs are no longer resting on my belly Blush My bump feels very heavy low down, which I've not really felt before.

From what I've read I'm at about the right stage for the bump to drop, but what I can't work out is whether they only drop once they are head down, or whether they can drop whilst still breech. Anyone have any ideas?

Hope everyone is doing okay!
