Thanks everyone :) ive just bf her and now cant help but stare at her! Really should sleep as she needs feeding every 3 hours. I'll write how the birth went when I get home from hospital :) Hope you are all well and especially you ilove! Exciting x

BexBoo12 · 11/08/2014 00:02

Wow congratulations top!! She's amazing. First of many more to come. Can't wait! Would love to hear the story, I'm particularly interested to know more about the episiotomy if that makes me a bit weird...only because that's one of my real fears and I'd like to be prepared in case it happens to me Smile

Thanks dontevenblink...he does feel very very low!! His movements have changed completely the last few days, almost feels like he sometimes goes the wrong way before realising he doesn't fit there anymore...does that make sense?

How's ilove doing? Any news x

how are you doing ilove?

seven I'll join you with the crazy lady emoticon Grin My dd is 6, ds1 is 4 and ds2 is 2.Going to be crazy times when dc4 arrives!

bex I had an episiotomy with dc1 as she was back to back and stuck, so needed forceps, and it was fine, it healed really quickly and I don't remember having much stinging at all. I remember being really worried about having one before as well.

ilovemonstersinc · 11/08/2014 05:05

Pains are intense. Around 5mins apart. Had a tiny bit of bleeding and very dodgy tummy!

Will get up soon and go back to be checked as they want me in to start things on birth plan to help me at delivery once im 3-4cm

Another October-threader dropping in to congratulate Topmammy!

polkadotdelight · 11/08/2014 05:56

Oh wow! The first baby! Congratulations topmammy

ilove sounds like it could be you next so wishing you a smooth delivery.

I'm only 34 weeks (on wed) so I'd be upset if I went now but I'm so jealous of you. Really fed up of being huge, uncomfortable and not being able to do as much as usual.

Topsyloulou · 11/08/2014 06:47

Congratulations Top. She's beautiful. Hope you get home today & settle in well as a new family. Look forward to hearing all about it when you're ready.

polkadotdelight · 11/08/2014 07:02

Ive just realised that I will be 35 weeks not 34. Is ot really bad that Im losing track?!!!

holls2000 · 11/08/2014 07:08

polkadot I regularly lose count of how many weeks I am. I thought I was 30 but am 33 and then at one stage thought I was 29 when was 27. have had to write it in my diary cos I am so useless!!!!! Smile

whiteblossom · 11/08/2014 07:09

Congratulations top she is beautiful, lovely name too - ekkk it's all getting a bit real now! I'm only 34 weeks so hopefully a bit longer to go for me, but it's very exciting that we have babies arriving. Good luck ilove, sounds like you will be next, you've done so well to get to term, hope you are having new baby cuddles soon.

sjs1528 · 11/08/2014 07:58

Congratulations top, she is beautiful!

BexBoo12 · 11/08/2014 08:14

Oh phew nazly, I'm glad I'm not the only one!!

Don'tevenblink, thanks for that, it haas reassured me a little. I think because I watch all the programs that are on tv about giving birth, and read the baby magazines and books, and it says very little about needing an episiotomy. Maybe it's fear of the unknown for me. From what I have seen and read though, they don't numb you before getting snippy with those scissors Shock I guess you're in so much pain at the time you wouldn't notice? ...

Laura2611 · 11/08/2014 08:30

Congratulations top she's perfect!

Good luck ilove

KatharineClover · 11/08/2014 08:39

bex with DS I had an episiotomy due to foetal distress - I think my birth notes say 12:42 injection, 12:43 episiotomy 12:44 baby born. There wasn't quite enough time for the pain killer injection to work, but it wasn't too bad! I was well stitched and the stitches healed nicely. Felt some tightness and discomfort for a few weeks like any stitches, but back to completely normal after a few months. As I understand, they only do them for set reasons e.g. distress / urgent need to get baby out, instrumental delivery etc, it's not routine.
Put it this way - I'm not worried if I need another, just hope I don't as don't want baby to be in distress again :)

MundayCakes85 · 11/08/2014 08:45

Another one from the October thread coming to say congratulations Tops

BexBoo12 · 11/08/2014 08:48

Wow Katherine, that's not much time between injection, cut and baby out! I have heard some good stories about them in that they heal better than a tear because it's a clean straight cut, whether that's true or not I'm not sure. So they do attempt to numb it then? Well that's reassured me too so thank you.

With any kind of stitches, do they use dissolvable ones so we don't need to go back for them to be taken out?

BexBoo12 · 11/08/2014 08:49

Fingers crossed your baby doesn't get distressed this time around. X

dontevenblink · 11/08/2014 08:52

bex fear of the unknown is definitely the worst! When you're pushing to be honest that's all you're focusing on, so you won't really notice if they do an episiotomy, they obviously told me, but i couldn't have cared less by that point, I just wanted her out Grin I had a nasty 2nd degree tear with dc2 (that needed a Dr rather than midwife) due to shoulder dystocia and they just had to get him out, but I can honestly say I don't remember feeling it all, it was all so quick and just blurred into the general stinging of the head coming out - that part is over very quickly, and then the pain stops and you have your lovely baby Smile I've had no trouble with recovery after either, though think the episiotomy healed quicker. Hope that doesn't scare anyone, but honestly it wasn't that bad, sounds worse than was!

dontevenblink · 11/08/2014 08:56

Cross post Smile Yes they use dissolvable stitches so don't need to have them taken out. Don't remember if they numb area, quite possibly...
