ilove a slow start is still a start I guess! Hope things speed up for you, or you at least get several hours before it gets too uncomfortable.

lilone1234 · 10/08/2014 09:38

ilove Glad things are moving a bit for you!

BooSurprise · 10/08/2014 09:41

Oooh ilove I missed your update, must have been posting at similar times! Yay another baby on the way.
theonlyseven 9 weeks early with baby no 1, the single most stressful thing I have ever had to deal with I think, hence not wanting another early one, esp not a scbu stay, and would never wish that experience on anyone else either. Anything over 36/37 weeks for me please.

IAteSomeofthePies · 10/08/2014 10:15

I hope all is going well, Top! iLove I hope you can get some rest. I bet you're ready for things to get going. TeaBiscuits how are you doing after the steroid jab? Are you close to 37 weeks now?

Lots of excitement on here. I'm 37+ weeks now but would rather that nothing happens for quite a while. We're off to Ikea today to get some baby furniture - can't put off the horror any longer.

Has anyone bought an incontinence type pad to sleep on in case your waters go? We looked for one at Boots at Tesco yesterday, but no joy.

cookielove · 10/08/2014 10:33

Iate I have the pampers ones that are for bed wetting, I bought them last year after I had an erpc, scared of bloodying the bed! So will be using them. Not sure if i should start now at 33+5!

IAteSomeofthePies · 10/08/2014 10:59

I didn't see those yesterday, Cookie. Will check it out, thanks! I didn't think if it until yesterday when I saw Top posting about her waters going. I know it's unusual for them to go at home, but better safe than sorry. I love our mattress!

lucidlady · 10/08/2014 11:38

iate I bought a waterproof mattress topper the other week - figured that would be better than the pad things as I move around a lot in my sleep and was worried it would slip off. DH is of course horrified at the idea of waters breaking - have told him to get a grip Grin

IAteSomeofthePies · 10/08/2014 11:45

Lol Lucid, my DH would also be horrified at the idea of my waters breaking, but because he loves the mattress, too! It would take ages to find another we could agree on/afford!

RedToothBrush · 10/08/2014 12:36

'Bout time ilove Wink

Seriously though, its amazing that you've got this far. I wouldn't be at all surprised if things happen quicker than you expect now. What was I saying about the weather and stuff Grin

Good luck!

TheOnlySeven · 10/08/2014 12:57

Wow boo 9 weeks early, at least you've got further already this time. My 3 were all born at 35 weeks so nowhere near as prem as yours, not expecting to go any further this time though. I only had one in SCBU though, and had steroids this time to hopefully prevent it happening
again.

iate good luck at ikea!

We have a waterproof mattress cover, still haven't dug it out as yet though. My waters have only gone once before established labour, but funnily enough it was when I was in bed.

KatharineClover · 10/08/2014 13:16

I rang the midwife last night as (TMI sorry!) my pad was a little pink. No pains, baby moving fine. Called again today as I'm sore & think the issue might be leaking urine (oh, the glamours of pregnancy!) so now I have to try to get an urgent drs appt tomorrow as the mw thinks it sounds like a uti (I have low back pain, pelvic pain, weeing all the time, soreness after weeing, possibly blood in urine, utterly exhausted, but no pain on weeing so I hadn't realised that's what it might be). Does anyone know what tests they need to do to diagnose and how long it takes to treat? Will the dr be able to tell straight away or will I have to wait for results? Never had a uti before (if this is one), & feeling a bit anxious.
X

BexBoo12 · 10/08/2014 13:50

Still no news from top? Hope all is going well so exciting that first baby will be born soon!!

Ilove how are you feeling?

Talking about mattress covers, I've bought one this weekend, going to put it on tonight when I change the bed. I've had awful pains that I can only describe as feeling as though they are close to my bladder? Really low down...do you think that's the baby?

ella I've never had bleeding in early pregnancy despite three early babies so not sure it means much.

bex could well be baby engaging and putting pressure on your cervix.

katherine I had a little bleeding when I went into labour with DD2, they thought it might be a UTI and just wanted a sample. I was kept in for obs while they waited for results but I went into established labour later that day so I don't know how long results would have taken.

ilovemonstersinc · 10/08/2014 14:07

Im still at home getting a lot of sharp pains that are knocking me for 6! Buut persevering.

Thank you red and everyone Flowers
also red did you know the delivery suite was actually full! So the stuff about weather and full moons is something to go off!

Katherine results take around 48 hours however theu can dipstick to see whats in yoir urine (protein, keytones etc) amd make a decision from there too.

Inbl00m · 10/08/2014 14:22

Katharine have you tried ringing 111 to get an out-of-hours GP appointment today?

I got the first of 2 utis I've had in pregnancy (never had one before either) on a weekend and the midwives told me to do this and get an out-of-hours appointment on a Sunday instead of waiting, so you could also try that, esp if you might have blood in urine. They like to treat utis in pregnancy as fast as possible for various reasons (won't go into it as don't want to scare anybody!). Both times diagnosis was on the spot via dipstick then sent away for further analysis just to check in case anything in particular has caused them. Treatment is usually a week-long course of antibiotics. Hope you get it sorted, sounds nasty!

BexBoo12 · 10/08/2014 14:31

Theonlyseven baby's head has been fully engaged since 32 weeks Shock

TheOnlySeven · 10/08/2014 14:35

Ouch! I don't know then, sorry!

BexBoo12 · 10/08/2014 14:45

Maybe he's just having a wriggle of his head!!!

RedToothBrush · 10/08/2014 16:33

Wow really? It had crossed my mind, that if it was true that the wards were more likely to be fuller, but its an extra thing to worry about and thought it might be a bit ridiculous to post it.

TeamEponine · 10/08/2014 17:02

Katherine the dip stick test can tell if you have blood in your urine, which is a good indicator of a uti. So you should be able to find out straight away. If you do, they tend to prescribe an antibiotic that is generally good for a uti. That should work and have you feeling better within 48 hours. (I've had to go through this process loads of time!)

Aisha18 · 10/08/2014 18:03

Wow this thread is so exciting with babies on the way already! Hope all going well for those on the way Smile thanks for the advice re c section...helps a lot! I'm having my baby outside UK as living abroad and just wondering for uk hospitals, do any of them have the baby sleep in a nursery (ie. not next to you) for the first night? My hospital does that for the first night, they just bring the baby to you for night feeds...I'm in 2 minds if this is a nightmare to be separated or practical so you can get some strength back on first night...?

ilovemonstersinc · 10/08/2014 19:23

Red they said it wasn't anything to worry about as they would always find a place and they have a mlu there too. Push comes to shove they would move ladies on quicker after delivery. They also have delivery packs plus gas n air on triage for those who dont make it to delivery
