Hi,

I've finally got my BFP and want to find others who want to chat and eat cake whilst being excited about cooking our little dragons.

I am 31yrs old, just got my BFP for #2.

Come in and sit down for the next nerve racking 9 months :)

Hello, can I join? I am in total shock at my BFP this morning! I thought due to being 36 and having been on the pill for 15 years, that DH and I were in for a long wait TTC, but this is month 4 of trying.

AF was a week late but I have had gastroenteritis and I thought it had delayed my period, especially as I've had sore boobs and AF type cramps. I only did the test to rule out being PG so I could have a few drinks and a cigarette later on. Guess I won't be doing that now!

I am quite worried that the gastroenteritis will have affected the pregnancy. Has anyone else ever had it whilst PG and was everything ok?

cinnamongreyhound · 02/08/2014 12:34

So so sorry to hear that BlinkandMiss, glad you are feeling positive though. It might hit you more in a few days so make sure you've got someone who can give you lots of cuddles and do come back and let us know how you're getting on Thanks

Hope you had a restful night dancestomyowntune and your bp has come down.

I had quite a bit of spotting with my second pregnancy Misty414, try not to worry although that's impossible!

I think they usually aim for 11-14 weeks for a scan BrixtonBunny but you can talk to your midwife at your booking appointment about any worries you have.

Hi MonkeyGoneToHeaven. I wouldn't worry about the gasteroenteritis. Congratulations :)

RumNoRaisins · 02/08/2014 12:42

Hello, may I please join in? BFP this weekend just as we were about to give TTC a break! This is pregnancy #2 and due April 3rd. Am still shell shocked but I guess this explains the utter exhaustion in the last week. Thought it was just work!

BrixtonBunny · 02/08/2014 12:51

Welcome and congrats rum and monkey!

Cinnamon that's reassuring... As this is number one I just don't know what to expect!! Xx

cinnamongreyhound · 02/08/2014 12:57

Hi Rumnoraisins!

I think everyone feels the same BrixtonBunny, midwives seem to forget that especially first time mums don't know what's going to happen. I found it pretty hard with my first but with my second other than hearing his heartbeat I just wanted to be left alone! At least we have the internet these days Wink

yorkshirelass82 · 02/08/2014 13:28

Hi all, please can I join in...30, baby no 1, due date 2nd April. Haven't read all the posts yet so I will catch up!
1st question is I have been offered a "first contact" apt with a midwife on 14th but have had to cancel as I'm on holiday and not able to book again until I will be 9 weeks (surgery only has midwife apts one morning a week) Was thinking of just booking a GP apt instead over the next 2 weeks and just ask to organise the booking in for when I'm in week 9 instead, otherwise I'm guessing everything will get delayed. Any thoughts ladies? Congrats to all by the way

BrixtonBunny · 02/08/2014 15:22

And misty apparently bleeding when DTD is really common xx

BrixtonBunny · 02/08/2014 15:23

Welcome Yorkshire! I'm afraid I don't know much about midwives so will leave your question to those who have dc Grinxxx

LadesC · 02/08/2014 16:00

Hello ladies, can I join? After an up n down few days Ive finally got a definitive bfp..... 3 days overdue and had a very very faint line on a tesco cheapy yesterday, felt pregnant so assumed all good, then this morning no line at all. Nipped to buy a clearblue digi and its positive!!! Am a little anxious as had an early mc a few months ago but will see how it goes I guess. Have maxed out on pregnancy tests this month..despite my best intentions!! Blush

LadesC · 02/08/2014 16:01

Oh and forgot to say...im 37 and ttc #1. x

lila35 · 02/08/2014 16:23

Sorry to hear you're out by blink xx

dances how are you doing??

Hello new peeps!!

Someone stop me weeing on sticks!! I've done 5 now and have 1 left, going to try and hold off till this time next week, I am driving myself slightly bonkers.

Happy weekend everyone x

dancestomyowntune · 02/08/2014 17:57

Hi everyone, sorry it's taken me so long to update, phone died and only just been discharged. They decided against a scan today (surprise surprise!) But I have to go back on Monday for follow up bloods and bp check. They have me on beta blockers for the bp and whilst it has reduced it they would still like to see it lower. I think my antenatal care may be consultant lead, at least to start with!

Gave me quite a scare, but I am feeling positive because I am not bleeding. They are still querying ectopic so for the hospital it's a bit of a waiting game, and I am sure they will scan as soon as they can. But I feel positive. We've been here before and all was well... so watch this space!

EssenceOfGelfling · 02/08/2014 18:13

Congratulations to all the new people and huge commiserations to those who've suffered early losses. I've been there and know how horrible it is.

I'm feeling exhausted, can't get to sleep, can't stay asleep! Boobs getting very sore too. I'm about a stone overweight and hoping not too put on too much this pregnancy, using it as a motivation to eat a bit healthier and exercise a bit more too. Davina DVD on order!

My first two DCs are 20 months apart and I love how well they play together now (age 4 and 2.5) - however I know of others with similar age gaps who just fight all the time! But it was hard work and I also felt I missed enjoying DC2 when she was tiny, as DC1 was still so demanding then.

There will be 3.5 yrs between DC2 and DC3, so by next april, DC1 will be in school and DC2 in preschool every morning and I'm looking forward to having more time lying on the sofa enjoying newborn snuggles! But they won't be as close as the first two are, so I'll regret that too. There really is no perfect age gap is there?

BrixtonBunny · 02/08/2014 21:00

I feel like my symptoms have all but disappeared today Hmm

pyrowall · 02/08/2014 21:36

Yes me too Brixton but only this afternoon, this morning I felt a little queasy.

Yorkshire I'd phone the GP and see what they suggest, they may just book you in for when you can make it. I went to the GP for an unrelated issue and mentioned it, she only did the midwife referral, nothing else bar work out my EDD.

Looking at my hospitals criteria for the MLU it looks like I won't qualify as I had strepB last time and this means if have to have antiBs this time round. Sad I'm not v happy about it - I may push for it with the midwives!

tryinghard2 · 03/08/2014 09:20

Yorkshire I was the same, the midwife apps are only one morning a week and I couldn't get that morning off without an incredible reason - I would have had to tell work to get it off. The docs receptionist was really grumpy and patronising about it but I stood my ground because it would have been a dead giveaway at work. I got given the midwife's phone number and she came round to my house that day - so I've already seen the midwife and she's done the booking in appt and as soon as my paper works gone through at the hospital (she said something about because I've never been to hospital there before) she's going to book the 12 week scan in - she pencilled in dates with us for everything which was so helpful because we both work shifts. My I doctors appt is this week. It's all gone very quickly! Maybe I was just lucky with a lovely midwife but it might be worth asking if you can see her another time - they must have other people who can't do that one particular time a week.

tryinghard2 · 03/08/2014 09:21

I mean she's booked the booking in not that she's done it :)

cinnamongreyhound · 03/08/2014 09:48

Our midwife does Thursday afternoons but I had my booking apt at home with ds2 and she took my blood at home too :)

Cassieyellow · 03/08/2014 09:58

I am still too scared to ring up for appointment but for the sake of getting 12 wk scan booked in eventually, I think I will tomorrow. Do I need Gp one or just ask for booking in appt? (2nd pregnancy ). Anyone a hayfever sufferer? I have a spray thing but wondered if anyone had any other tips. Sorry if a bit lost with the posts... Sorry to blink and good luck dances. What about lucy or lozz? Someone else was having a wobble? I did another test yesterday but it still said 1-2! (Due April 4th) I to wish the time away! Hello to more BFP people.

Cisforcat · 03/08/2014 10:21

Cassie this is my 2nd too. As the GP did naff all with my first I've just booked a booking app with the midwife for when I'll be 9 weeks. Hopefully it'll b ok- that's when they will request a scan for 12 wks in this area.

Cassieyellow · 03/08/2014 10:35

Ok, thanks! Will call tomorrow ( and fingers crossed they are more flexible than some of our surgeries seem to be!)

EssenceOfGelfling · 03/08/2014 11:47

Yes to hayfever, urgh. I took Loratadine through my first two pregnancies as that seemed the safest then and I couldn't make do with nothing. Now I'm taking Cetirizine which is my preferred one as the NHS website says that's ok too.
