Onwards into the 2nd trimester, where hopefully the bumps will overtake the poo factories!

Stats here.

Oh and Rpopz I'm off on holiday next week so will be showing off my burgeoning bump in my bikini - I'm sure you wouldn't be the only one at aquanatal to do so!

Camsie30 · 30/07/2014 20:18

RPopz it's so interesting that you feel detached, I spent the first 12 weeks so scared of losing the baby that now I just feel relaxed and happy, and most of all pregnant! I was very lucky to not suffer with many symptoms, but now I feel full of energy and have a proper little bump forming.
I find it so fascinating how we're all going through the same thing but out bodies react so differently

16 weeks!

LadyCottington · 30/07/2014 20:39

Oh mummyk8, I know you're worried about money and other things but it sounds like you need the rest! Also, I work in pharmacy and I've seen plenty of pregnant woman with prescriptions for codeine ( some were clearly addicted) and their babies are just fine. Hell, I've given out methadone to pregnant woman. I really hope you're feeling better soon Brew Cake

I'm absolutely shattered today. Think I might go to bed now!

blizy · 30/07/2014 21:01

Just popping in whilst I have wifi, mummy k8 I'm sorry your still not feeling good. I understand how worrying it is to be signed off work, I'm self employed too. I hope you are feeling better, I have been thinking about you.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Babysprout · 30/07/2014 21:15

katniss I find it awful !! I hate the fact that I have to go in to the loo with a cup then come out carrying it trying to cover it but with everyone staring thinking - I know you're carrying pee!!!

mummyk8 I really feel for you. Make sure you take the 4weeks rest really seriously to give you the best possible shot at recovery. Literally do nothing! Your body will be nothing but an incubator for 4 weeks. Thanks

Hello ladyflashheart Smile

cheshirem2b · 30/07/2014 21:41

Evening ladies!

18weeks tomorrow and I think I can finally feel smudge wriggling! I have been feeling like bubbles popping for a few days now and definitely this evening. Seems slightly to my left tonight rather than Central but I'm sure it's not bowels etc. I'm overweight before pg (not helped by my boobs being 36HH before pg!!!)so really pleased as i had expected to wait a few more weeks for flutters! Grin
3weeks til our next scan due to us being on hols but still all really exciting.

Ladies, who are still having problems, look after yourselves!

17+6

Saraswati · 30/07/2014 21:53

Take the rest mummy hopefully it will mean less time off in the future if you can rest and heal now Thanks

Off to a wedding tomorrow so have finished work for the week today - I'm shattered! Not looking forward to hours in the car tomorrow either. I haven't done a long car journey since being pregnant and although my sickness has eased loads in the last week I'm really scared I'll feel terrible and ruin a nice day :s

I am officially a whale too, have grown loads in the last couple of weeks, my belly is really itchy and feels like it's being slowly prised apart. I feel terrified that I've got so long to go as well, my skin is going to be ruined:,(

I'm a bit miserable and tired so off to bed! Will be cheerier tomorrow I promise!

RPopz · 30/07/2014 22:09

Cams - it's not detached in a bad way. I was same in first trimester... constantly terrified of it going away... and horrendously ill. I feel much more relaxed and happy about being pregnant now. But its just not constantly on my mind like before. Plus I look like that odd stage where people don't know if I'm fat or pg Wink so am eager for a proper bump Smile

MademoiselleG · 30/07/2014 22:32

Hello all, I just felt like popping in briefly and giving you all a wave and a good luck hug, especially to those having a tough time. Mumnyk8, I really hope that the 4 weeks off aren't too boring and really take the dr's advice seriously (I'm sure you will anyway!!) - I'm sorry it is a worry re:work and money though, that's really pants. Good luck and big hugs that all us well for you and baby!

Big waves to all the lovely names I recognise and keep nurturing all those beautiful babies.ThanksThanks

Hi madem so lovely to hear from you, I hope you are well?

It's my 16w appointment today too SK28 fingers crossed we both get to hear the heartbeat. I'm going to record it on my phone if I can. For once I'm not feeling nervous about this appointment having seen baby bagel on the big screen on Monday at our sexing scan.

Speaking of which I forgot to tell you all on here it's a girl! Hoorah!

Hi mademoiselle. Lovely to hear from you Smile hope you're doing ok.

Mad, that's a nice early wake up call! DS managed a lie in until 6.10 this morning. And yes that is a big lie in! Lol

Hello Mademoiselle! So lovely to hear from you. I hope you're doing OK. Smile

Geez, I've missed a lot in a couple days. So pleased for happy scan and HB news!!! I've got my MW appointment tomorrow and I can't wait to hear the little one. Smile

Re earlier conversation about male midwives - I'm all for it in theory. In practice, I'm not sure. To be honest, I don't even know how I feel about men at births in general (obvs DH will be, as he wants to be) but I kind of feel like childbirth is woman's work, in what might be a really backward, non-feminist stance, I know. Confused

Saras I'm starting to feel quite stretched across the middle as well! But I think for me it's internal, i.e. my abs. My skin is still far too podgy to be affected yet. Grin I hope you feel better today, though. From how you've described yourself, I'm sure you're looking wonderful to others, but I know that doesn't match with how we feel about ourselves! It's so mind-boggling, all this change in our bodies, so quickly.

mummyk8 your GP would never prescribe anything known to be remotely harmful to your little one without your full consent about risks. It sounds important for you to take this time to rest, and recover, and using the painkillers to get on top of the pain so you can recover well sounds like it might be a key part of that! I really hope you can start to feel better soon, so this doesn't have a hugely negative impact on your pregnancy. Lots of hugs to you.

Pru I'm so impressed by your DH's mad teenage handling skills! Well done, him!

Camsie I'm feeling pretty similar to you. it's pretty great. Smile

Rowan hello! some of us did take up your kind group offer. We can't wait for it!

OK, time to end this epic catch up!

Is anyone else still running or gymming it up aerobically? I went for my semi-regular jog this morning after a week of not going (due to feeling really tired/run down/headachy) and my word, it was suddenly so much more effortful! And does anyone have any good suggestion for places to get good maternity workout gear? I'm starting to exceed the stretch capacity of some of my regular things.

Ooh, speaking of clothes, I was reminded this week about Cos. They normally drive me mental with their loose shapeless shapes, but those silhouettes work perfectly if you're like me and expanding in the middle, but not yet in such a way as to suit maternity wear. And want to still look high fashion with a bump. Wink

Howdy all, been away for a bit - hope everyone is positively splendid Grin

Mini - a little girl, how exciting! Did you go with ultrasound direct/babybond? We have our sexing scan with them on sat.

Hope everyone with mw appointments today has good appts and gets to hear those heartbeats!

Think we've nearly told everyone in the family now, just friends to get round! So tricky trying to make sure you've told everyone who would be disappointed if you hadn't told them yourself.

Has anyone been to any of the closing Kiddicare stores and picked up any bargains?

16w today Smile

rumisyum · 31/07/2014 09:15

What's that Zest for Life group you've joined Pru? The link talks about an online fitness programme, but there's clearly a group local to you? Looks good!

OP posts:
Garfieldloveslasagna · 31/07/2014 09:31

RPopz I feel the same. Hardly any symptoms in the first 12 weeks and now at 17+2 I keep forgetting I'm pregnant. Would rather have some horrible symptoms to keep reminding me, rather than nothing!

Not felt any movement yet but should we be able to feel the baby at this point. As in, feel the placenta etc when led down and prodding my belly. Dont remember all this with me first and that was only 3 years ago Smile

ViviPru · 31/07/2014 09:45

Yeah Rum it's an online fitness programme anyone can join but it's actually based just up the road, which is lucky as I appear to be in a pregnancy class/group vacuum here otherwise - it's a bit off the beaten track here.

What's so nice is they make use of the country park behind my house that I'd be traipsing around on my own anyway so it's not like it's going to be major efforts for me to participate, and all the members will be based very nearby. I'd been considering joining a group in town but that's be a pain as it would mean driving into Leicester whenever there was a get together.... this group gets together at my local!

18 weeks today! Incubating a Japanese Dwarf Flying Squirrel (WARNING cute alert)

Pesto11 · 31/07/2014 09:47

I feel like my insides are being massively stretched left right high low- quite painful at night. Trying to tell myself it's normal...
Got some form of bump forming but I'm sure most of it is due to my crisp and chocolate diet(!)
We still haven't told a single person... I just keep panicking something is going to go wrong... Plus my closest friend has been ttc for almost a year and lives 3hours away- I want to tell her in person. She's visiting next week. Don't know how she will take the news...
It's my birthday soon plus 20 week scan in 3 weeks so we've decided after that (hopefully all being well) we shall start to share with nearest and dearest.
Spent a fortune on online maternity dresses yesterday... Eek
Going to start swimming this summer -I'm ashamed to say I've done zero exercise since bfp!

ViviPru · 31/07/2014 09:54

Pesto have you been shocked how easy its been to not tell anyone? I'd never have thought I could get to my 20wk scan with still only a handful of people knowing (made easier because I WFH I think). Also assisted by a 2st weight gain that began a good 6 months before BFP; any sign of a bump is merging in with the general flab Sad

Babysprout · 31/07/2014 10:34

Oh my I admire your strength vivipru and pesto I was desperate to tell people! Held off till 12 weeks. Aside from that a few people at work guessed or at least questioned my expanding bosoms! I'd gone up 3 cup sizes by week8!

Now none of my trousers fit so I've been wearing dresses but they seem to be making it look even more bumpy. At 14+2 I feel like such a fraud to be considering maternity trousers so soon but don't want to buy bigger normal clothes.

rumisyum · 31/07/2014 10:40

sprout I was in maternity shorts by about week 11! I didn't have a proper bump then, but all my previous ones are high-waisted, tightly fitting jobs, which very quickly stopped being remotely comfortable. Or I could get them on easily in the morning, but was busting out of them by mid-afternoon. I definitely think you deserve some mat trousers by now!

Pru that's so convenient about the group being right there. And the link didn't work for me, but I've googled them and OMG the cuteness!

OP posts:
Shallan · 31/07/2014 10:48

I've been in maternity clothes since about week 8! Most of them are adjustable so you can pull drawstrings etc in to make them fit at this stage.

ViviPru · 31/07/2014 10:57

I'm a scruff bag and live in denim cut-offs, leggings and t-shirts. I think if I worked somewhere I had to look remotely presentable in semi-tailored clothes, it would certainly be more noticeable!

rumisyum · 31/07/2014 11:03

Also, I was so anxious about this pregnancy in the first trimester, but I am now fully, officially out, at work, with friends, even on facebook, and I have to say it feels great. It's quite a relief, actually. And other people's joy is a wonderful balm for my own anxieties, I've found.
