Twiglet we are redecorating and for the woodwork we are using paint from www.ecosorganicpaints.co.uk. It's looking great, there are no vocs at all and they have nice colours. It's more expensive than your normal paint but not too bad. I love it how it jut doesn't smell! Apparently it's safe to eat which shows its baby safe.

Sleeping is getting harder for me too. Luckily it's not too hot up north and we don't have any wild boars, but we do have seagulls as we live at the coast. There's some kind of war going on between the seagulls and the crows which wakes us up every morning at sunrise!

My hip pain is making me uncomfortable too. I have a pillow between my legs but it doesn't help. Im also starting to need a wee again every night but luckily only once!

Miskate · 22/07/2014 09:41

ladydolly - You will get it today. My work wanted mine earlier though, so I just called the doctors surgery and they arranged for the midwife to do one for me to pick up.

Alita7 · 22/07/2014 10:29

I'm really struggling on placement today. I've gone to a conference/workshop on the new care act with my mentor and I don't understand a lot of the technical stuff about legislation. I'm trying so hard not to fall asleep, I admittedly should have gone to bed earlier but a friend started messaging me about a problem and then I woke up so many times to wee or because something woke me up :( I just have such broken sleep. its ok when I'm doing things but when I'm just sat there with people talking my eyes start going and Grr!

MrsWombat · 22/07/2014 11:05

I've finally managed to get on the laptop and put my details on the spreadsheet.

Hope everyone is coping with the heat. 24+1

For those with an EDD of Nov 6th - I note there's a full moon that day Wink

blamber · 22/07/2014 11:44

Alita poor you! It's so difficult when you're tired. My work has been so boring and I have closed my eyes a few times but a conference with boring people rambling on about stuff you don't know about is even worse. Hope you get a nice lunch at least!

Greenstone, haha, does that have any consequences?

PosyFossilsShoes · 22/07/2014 12:57

TMI alert

I have woken up a couple of times recently with little bits in my nipples - like getting sleep in your eyes, it's the same stuff but nipples. One bit had (sorry) turned black so I carefully removed the bits, they were tiny, about the same size as sleep in your eyes, and now my nipple looks weird.

Does anybody know what this is and whether or not it's ok to remove it? I was guessing that it might be droplets of crystallised milk but I can't squeeze any milk out at all and I don't think it can be.

weeonion · 22/07/2014 13:32

Ooooh full moon. Lots of babies born then!!

blamber · 22/07/2014 13:53

Posy I had it too. Thought it was dry skin but it was more brittle. I thought bits of milk too but like you I'm not leaking or anything. Peculiar! I carefully removed some but mostly leave it.

weeonion · 22/07/2014 14:06

I think it is probably milk / colostrum in breasts... Getting ready to feed etc

amylou85 · 22/07/2014 14:10

Posy When I looked online about it people were saying not to remove it as it only aggravates it, however I read that after removing it (ooops) so i'll see what happens.
Just can't bare the thought of having that when I give birth and baby having to suck on my manky globby nipples!!! Poor bugger!

blamber · 22/07/2014 15:52

I'm sure the baby couldn't care less as long as it's getting its milk!

Alita7 · 22/07/2014 16:03

oh no greenstone don't tell my dp! I've gained a lot of body hair this pregnancy and he already has suggested that we're having a werewolf baby!

Alita7 · 22/07/2014 16:04

Oh and posy I replied on fb but incase anyone else is worried it's definitely dried milk !

TwigletFiend · 22/07/2014 16:17

I think my breasts might be malfunctioning Hmm No growth at all in the whole pregnancy, no sign of milk, very little tenderness apart from the first five or six weeks. A bit disappointed that my little plums haven't developed into oranges, at least.

Thanks blamber, that looks like just the stuff! I'm hoping if I sand the crib down well enough it won't need a primer, maybe just a couple of coats of the paint. It's untreated wood underneath, so should be quite straightforward.

Alita, hope you've stayed awake - it's terrible when you start to nod off like that, even when you're conscious you start to feel so woozy and heavy-headed. Hope your sleep patterns stabilise soon Sad

Petal, it's bloody miserable isn't it? I think there's a couple of belt recommendations further back, previous page or the one before. I've just ordered one from JoJoMaman which my mother (retired physio) says would be suitable. Some of them are marketed as 'bump supports' and she reckoned avoid those if it's a back/hip problem and go for a proper support belt, but if it's an abdominal pain or a pelvic pain (so across the front of the area between your hips rather than in the hip joint itself), go for a bump support.

flowersinthegarden · 22/07/2014 16:40

I've had that too Posy, I'm certain it's colostrum with me as I've recently noticed slight 'leaking' Blush. I have also been looking at bump support as I've been getting stitch type pains under the bump whilst walking the dog, I imagine it's just stretching and normal but does get darn uncomfortable. Seeing Midwife on Thursday so will ask her too.

Lots of bump movement now, DH and I can see it making my belly ripple when we go to bed. Before I felt it I thought it would feel really icky, but I adore the little kicks and what feel like somersaults Grin.

Hopeful83 · 22/07/2014 17:17

Posy - I've had that too but only on one nipple which is weird. I also assumed it's milk related.

Anna - I'm due 4th November with my first. Glad to have someone else going there on here. I hope it's ok there as I'm new to the area and don't know much about the hospital

bunnykitten · 22/07/2014 18:54

Posy I've had the same, although I must admit I did pick it out - bleugh!

Moggle I wonder if we have the same midwife, yours seems more organised than mine! I had a different midwife to start with, was was really nice and seemed to know everything, but I think she moved to St Peters. The new one seems a bit clueless, which is slightly worrying since (rightly or wrongly) I feel I should be able to rely on her, as I have no idea what the process is! I keep wondering what training they have, and hoping that by November when it really counts she'll have more experience!

Thanks for all of the advice on my MAT B form with the wrong EDD. I managed to sort it out in the end, I changed the form but then called the midwife to ask if that was ok, since my change of a number 21 to a 3 wasn't very convincing! She said it wasn't a problem as long as my workplace didn't mind. My workplace asked to see separate confirmation of my EDD so I showed them one of my hospital scan letters and they were happy with that. I have only just started carrying my hospital notes around with me, so that was fortunate! I'm stopping work 3.5 weeks before my official EDD (or 4 weeks before my guess at an EDD since, unlike the NHS, I don't believe it was an immaculate conception...Wink)

AnnaBananaBoo · 22/07/2014 20:16

More leaky nipples here too...they are also now huge and appear completely disproportionate to the rest of my boob! Ah, the joys of pregnancy!

Hopeful - I don't know anyone that has had a baby there but the hospital seems to have quite a good local reputation and I've been pretty happy with the midwife care etc so far.

Petal26 · 22/07/2014 20:40

Thanks twiglet, that's helpful :-)

Not to scare any first timers planning to breastfeed but... I stopped feeding DD over a year ago and I still produce 'something' when my nipples are squeezed! So pregnancy hasn't changed that! :-)

weeonion · 22/07/2014 21:09

evening all.
hi annabanana - nice to see you here..

i keep losing track but think i am hitting week 27 on saturday so ... that'll be me in final trimester - EEK!!

glasgow is all a buzz waiting for the games to start. Even an ole cynic like me is getting excited. Grin my office is directly across the river clyde from glasgow green where lots of activities are happening - and we even got to hear Lulu sound checking today Hmm

i am heading down south tonight for a conference tomorrow- catching the overnight sleeper train to london. heres hoping i get a single berth close to a loo for all my nocturnals... Been checking out the weather and eek - looks like its gonna be a roaster!!

Alita7 · 22/07/2014 21:32

Ooh welcome anyone new! and do say if anyone would like to join us on fb :)

At the conferency thing I didn't understand 3 out of about 30 of us were visibly pregnant!!!

bunnykitten · 22/07/2014 22:33

Oooh, I'd forgotten there is a facebook group - how do we join?

Miskate · 23/07/2014 08:40

Does anyone on FB know if you join the FB group? I'm keeping the pregnancy out of my timeline so don't want anyone to be able to see that i've joined IYSWIM

utopian99 · 23/07/2014 08:52

Right, I've weighed myself after about a month of not doing it due to work stress etc and am 9lbs over recommended weight gain. Really really a. Angry with myself and b. Paranoid about the aftermath as last timeI mmanaged to stay bang on recommended line and it still took several months to go back. Can anyone suggest anything? I know this is mostly down to eating due to stress but also sh*t willpower. Dh refuses to say anything negative but what I really need is a small naggy person bitching at me every day to stop me.

and Bollocks to all the love your self /making a baby stuff (in my case, not anyone else) I DO care, it DOES bother me, and I hate it.
