We have the bt250 haven'tgotaclue - would happily recommend it to anyone.

twiglet I'd definitely delicately point out to him that he could always do something about it himself!

utopian99 · 16/08/2014 21:37

We are in ibiza and everyone bar ds and I are off at Zoo Project. Am massively jealous and thoroughly bored of being mum/pg just for this one night. Would love to be painted and dancing and not just sitting about fattly babysitting ds.

Did enjoy painting everyone though - a good selection of mainly big game cats and one snake went off v happily to party their socks off. Grin

dh is taking me out tomorrow while some of the friends we're with babysit though, so although I still look vile pregnant and can't drink we can at least have a dance and make a night of it, which is super. Bizarrely dh thinks I still look nice..

Maybe you have seen this article before, but it just felt a bit of fresh thing reading it from a male journalist.

Just had a lovely weekend away with husband n 4yr old

Monitor- we have angelcare with pad argos had on offer for£50 both as a parent and children's nurse I will always recommend a mat one.

Vicky5910 · 17/08/2014 21:16

I'm torn about a baby monitor, our last one was awful. Little white Tomy one. Wouldn't recommend!

ToniWol · 18/08/2014 07:38

Monitor - have just ordered the Tomy TF525 from Amazon. Have looked into them and friend in Brum recommended Tomy (using their old analogue one for dd2 at the moment). So gone with the middle of one of their digital ranges.

Back to work for a full 37 hour week this week. It's the first time in a month I'll have done a full week. Not helped by the fact DH is in at work early this week as well.

WorkFreeWannabe · 18/08/2014 09:57

Morning Everyone.

Woken up with terrible back pains and lower abdominal pain today. No one to blame but myself as I was out in the garden yesterday doing a few bits and might have strained myself lifting something heavy.

Jellybean is still wriggling about and throwing out the odd little kick, but not the monster ones I usually feel. Desperately Trying to convince myself he's fine and just napping. I'll give the midwives a call later if things don't improve. Hmm

Miskate · 18/08/2014 10:34

Workkfree - have you tried lying on your left side for a bit, then lying flat? Have you had a glass of iced water or an icepop?

weeonion · 18/08/2014 10:57

Morning all!!

Another week begins and another week closer to our arrivals!!!

DD has been back to school for a few days - jeez, its tough to,get into routine! Anyone here on number 3? How did you manage to get baby dealt with whilst still getting older one(s) out for about 7.45??? DD is fab and I usually have everything ready the night before to just be out of the house but remember all too well the windows of opportunity with baby!!!

I am so so so tired today. Haven't felt like this for many many weeks and can't believe I will be able to sustain another 9.5 / 10 weeks of full time work .....

blamber · 18/08/2014 11:50

Morning!

Workfree how many weeks are you? I thought that in the third trimester proper kicks get replaced by rolling etc. as baby runs out of space. But obviously call midwife if you're concerned!

Re baby monitors. Are the pad ones worth it? I read there's a risk of the baby getting entangled in the wires?

Weeonion I'm starting to get more tired too. The commute in particular is just too long and I feel uncomfortable sitting in the metro and bus. Had a dizzy an sickness spell on Friday. So today I've decided to hand my maternity leave form in and take all my holidays before it meaning I only have a month left. Can't wait! I couldn't imagine working right till the end.

The baby had hiccups I think, last night and just now. I don't like the feeling actually. I don't know why but I get worried when it does. I know it's normal though and it doesn't distress the baby. But still...

WorkFreeWannabe · 18/08/2014 12:46

Thanks for the advice Miskate. Unfortunately I'm at work so the lying down won't work. I did attempt it in an empty office, but felt uncomfortable as it's got glass walls lol. I've has some iced water and half a lucozade and am now getting a few kicks which are getting stronger.

Blamber - I'm 26+4 today. I called one of the midwives who thinks I've pulled a muscle/stretched a ligament based on what I said. She said it's unlikely baby has any issues, just me. I've been told to rest and monitor movements for the next few hours.

Kantha · 18/08/2014 16:50

Weeonion - I'm on no 3, but with no 2 DS1 was only 2.5yrs so only did pre school two mornings a week. I am wondering quite how it's going to work out this winter getting one to school, another the pre school and feeding the baby. On the upside I will no longer have to make packed lunches for DS1 as in England all infants will get free school meals this Autumn. My friend had her third earlier this year and she says that she prepares everything the night before. Right down to measuring out porridge oats into a pan. She is a very calm organised person! I was startled that she was doing hot breakfasts at all!

WorkFreeWannabe · 18/08/2014 18:06

Sorry Blamber, I'm 27+4, thought it sounded strange earlier. These weeks are all blurring into one now.

Proper baby brain has struck today. Keep on losing thing that are staring me in the face and generally being confused. I thought it was a myth, but today I'm a believer!

weeonion · 18/08/2014 20:12

Kantha - ta for that. At this stage, everything is left ready night before, uniform on hangers, lunches made, bags packed, table set (porridge soaking in milk in fridge overnight too!!). I get up around 6am to have time to get myself and pets ready before DD is up.

Its trying to imagine fitting a baby feed, change(s) etc into that. Friend with 3 kids under 5 with 1 started school and 1 at nursery now gets up at 5am to be out the door on time.

Gulp...

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 18/08/2014 20:50

Weeonion I think as a working parent now you will do it all fine I tell myself this I am in number 2 and first starts school Sept and we will need to be out at 8.20 at latest and at mo leave at 7.15 so once baby is here I am planning/hoping my 6am get up with 45mins to sort self and have a cup tea continues with added hr to sort baby and if all else fails baby cries for school run/is attached to boob waiting for older one to go in.

weeonion · 18/08/2014 21:13

eastmids - fingers crossed! Lawks - it all seems so much easier when i look back and had all that time on mat leave with just dd and i to get sorted and get out to all our meet ups, groups and classes etc!! I had a year on leve last time before going back to work full time.

this time - back to work full time in 4 months. my saving grace is that this dc's nursery is literally at end of the corridor from my office. I am a national worker though so cover the whole of scotland - I imagine alot more skyping for first 6 months to avoid 5 am trains up north!!!

workfreewannabe - how you doing tonight?

friend through work has her baby on saturday night - her induction started on wednesday night. it required alot of top ups, escalation of methods and ended with a c-section. mum and baby ok though mum feels a bit battle worn by it all.

WinterLover · 19/08/2014 07:54

Hi ladies, Im back. Had a bit of time away from Mumsnet, been busy finishing all my courses off so that when DS goes back to nursery and pre-school in Sept I can crack on getting the house ready for baby.

Tried to catch up, hope your all doing well. Much nicer here now that its cooler. The heat was really taking it out of me.

29 weeks today! Really not looking forward to going on holiday at 34 weeks though, starting to really struggle with walking, get awful pain in my hips and bottom of my back. I had an unstable pelvis previously and its starting to come back again. At GP's this afternoon for a Vitamin D check so going to mention it then and hopefully get refered back to physio.

Hows all the preperations going?

WorkFreeWannabe · 19/08/2014 08:58

Hi Weeonion

I'm good today thanks. Feeling much better after a warm bath and an earlier night. I'm still a bit stuff, but not wincing in pain every time I move anymore.

I'm still a bit cheesed off at the bus driver who shut the door in my face yesterday. Then when he opened it, he shouted at me saying that I should have hurried up. I had to explain to the idiot I can't run with a bump. Can anyone tell I'm already pissed off with my journey on London Transport inconsiderate fools Angry

weeonion · 19/08/2014 09:16

hi winter - good to see you back!

workfree - glad you are a bit eased today.

I came across this today. I consider myself very lucky and privileged to work in a sector where my choice to become a parent doesnt have the same impacts on my long term career, employment nor earning potential.

2014 - arent we doing well??

weeonion · 19/08/2014 10:25

I just done a stock up of things for labour / post labour.

coconut oil jar, arnica, witchhazel, clary sage oil, raspberry leaf tea bags, evening primose oil ..............

a pricely sum of £50.......... eek and argh...

blamber · 19/08/2014 10:26

Work free glad you're feeling better.

I just can't resist running for trains and buses. However I have now realised I need to stop doin that and just slow down in general. I'm getting too tired. It's difficult adapting my mindset though. I hate missing a connection and arriving at work or home 20 minutes or so later. My commute is already too long.

blamber · 19/08/2014 10:34

Wee onion what does all that do?

weeonion · 19/08/2014 10:46

blamber - i dont know how you are managiing commute at all. i recently had a day down in london with owrk and was lucky to have lots of time either end of journey to take it easy. i opted to walk to and from euston to elephant and castle to avoid underground!

coconut oil- massage for me and baby
arnica cream - for my bits for any swelling / bruising etc after birth
witchhazel - to put on mat pads post birth - in case of any stitches
clary sage oil - to have on hanky / cloth and in oil burner during labour
raspberry leaf tea - for chanking down me from 35 / 36 weeks on. (supposedly helps with 2nd and 3rd stage labour . i drank gallons last time and had v v quick stages. not sure f that is the reason but heck - will try anything!!)
evening primose oil - for perineal massage and as a suppository to supposedly help with cervix ( again from around 36 weeks)

I have also been buying for homebirth kit - 2 shower curtains, 1 tarpaulin for under birth pool, 2 large waterproof sheets to cover sofas etc, 2 packs of maternity 2 jugs - for water pouring and top ups, 3 nice new soft bath sheets for drying me with with, tennis balls - for labour and back pain,

the list goes on .. and on .. and on......

Feeling a bit rotten this morning, I really shouted at DD, like a proper fishwife and everything and I bet the whole estate heard :( Reason was she had decided to bolt instead of getting into the car to go to the CM, which she does about 4 mornings out of 5 (bolt, that is). Both me and DH find it so so aggravating when she does it and she is SO incredibly fast and I am so slow especially in flip flops and carrying 2 bags which I was doing this morning.

Anyway I really yelled at her. We were friends again by the time we got to the CM (about 7 mins later!) but I'm still feeling a bit rotten. It's scary to feel yourself get so angry.

Have to go to the pharmacy today to get some heavy-duty iron supplements - midwife called yesterday and I'm anaemic. Sigh. I guess I'll be getting the prune juice out again!

Greenstone · 19/08/2014 11:14

I think I started the raspberry leaf tea at about 33 weeks last time around. Is that too early? I remember I got really strong Braxton Hicks after my first ever cup! I wonder are my dusty old teabags/leaves still OK to drink almost 3 years on...
