So I made this weekend this ice cream, which tastes divine:
www.bloggingoverthyme.com/2013/02/11/vanilla-lemongrass-coconut-ice-cream/

And then it occurred to me to look up the lemongrass health benefits:
healthers.org/lemongrass

I think pregnant women simply have to eat that coconut and lemongrass ice-cream as a pain relieve and other remedies! Grin

Happy Monday everyone. 27 weeks today. X

I booked glucose test in my local health centre, was asking for the early morning appointment after reading all the fasting nightmare on here. It works out that they are not doing the usual glucose test, but a variant for pregnant women, where you don't have to fast and have to drink glucose hour before the test. What a relieve!
I don't handle very well being hungry. And the fact I won't have to sit around there for hours, also is a plus. Drink lucozade at home, pop in and go back home!

TwigletFiend · 11/08/2014 09:19

Good morning, ladies!

Strawberry, I'm feeling rather guilty now as I made chocolate and coffee eclairs yesterday. Definitely less beneficial than lemongrass ice cream! It does sound rather tasty though, I might give it a go Smile

Sympathies for all those with back/pelvic pain Sad Mine has been very on and off again lately, mostly off thank goodness. There were a few days where it was painful to walk on my left leg to the point where it felt like my leg was just going to give out when I took weight on it. Since wearing my support belt more regularly - particularly when I'm up and about - it's definitely eased though. Would thoroughly recommend one to sufferers, hope you can all get in to see a physio as soon as Thanks

I've been given the go ahead by the MW for acupuncture as pain relief during initial stages of labour. Luckily my mother is a qualified acupuncturist, so am keen to try it as it will be free! I've had it several times before and personally found it very beneficial, so fingers crossed it will help me to stay relaxed.

FTMK, hope you're feeling better today and you're enjoying the start of your holiday!

MrsDowneyJunior · 11/08/2014 09:22

I want that!! I have my 2nd glucose test on Wednesday and so not looking forward to starving for 12 hours. Sad

ladydolly · 11/08/2014 09:55

Strawberry That's what my test involved too - much easier! Although lucozade for brekkie made me retch at the fridge, I was staring at my scan pictures while I downed it. (watch out for lucozade burps - they lasted about 2 hours for me!!)

Feeling incredibly blessed this morning. DP put together all the baby room furniture over the weekend (we just went with ikea, nothing specifically 'baby') and I started sorting and washing all the baby clothes to put away. 4 washes later and I'm still not finished! My sisters has been so generous, I didn't buy any of them! So it's just the cot mattress to get and we're done. Very early but I'm organised by nature, it would stress me out if we weren't ready any later.

weeonion · 11/08/2014 10:19

Morning all!!

Isn't time going quickly now. In 30th week so just a month and half til considered "term". Eek!

30 week growth scan on Wednesday and consultant appt! Have been trying to do baby mapping to work put its position but cant quite master it. Anyone else got the hang of it?

ladydolly · 11/08/2014 10:24

weeonion · 11/08/2014 10:53

You able to work it out ladydolly???

ladydolly · 11/08/2014 10:59

Work dragged me back again, my mat cover just pulled out so panicking about getting it filled and handing over during our busiest time of year.

Def giving it a go later!!

ToniWol · 11/08/2014 11:24

Hi All

Am back from my weeks camping with the Guides (with my lovely 5-man tent to myself) and have the day off to recover so attempting to catch up on here.

Re Glucose test - I had the fasting one with 2 lots of bloods - but it was an 8.30 appointment and I'd had to fast from 10pm so was asleep for most of it. I was told I'd hear from them if there was a problem but otherwise would get my results at my next mw appointment, but as I've not had any missed calls on my phone - or letters to home - I'm hoping that means I'm fine.

Aspirin in pregnancy for flights/dvt - might be worth checking with dr/mw as I'm on low dosage aspirin daily as I'm at a higher risk of high bp so obviously it's okay to use in pregnancy.

I've put on the grand total of 1lb during the time so far (averaging out with the loss in the first trimester) - am hoping this means that I'll come out lighter than I started (which would be good with my high BMI).

I don't think I'm waddling all the time yet, just when I'm tired/stiff. But looking forward to aquanatal again tomorrow night after the first hv appointment. No idea what they'll want to see about so will just have to wait and see.

Strawberryfield12 · 11/08/2014 11:50

No worries twiglet, I made also a chocolate swissroll. Grin, just trying to excuse me that the cream is ricotta&chocolate&blueberries and the sponge is only 6eggs, 5 spoons sugar and 6 spoons of rye breadcrumbs instead of flour. So it is almost healthy between wholemeal, blueberries, fresh cheese and low sugar and no butter. As healthy as cake can be anyway Wink

utopian99 · 11/08/2014 12:20

Has anyone seen www.itv.com/news/2014-08-11/tiny-premature-baby-has-80-days-in-icu-documented-in-time-lapse-video/ ?

Not that I'd want the Small out early but almost 26 weeks now so good to know that there's more hope from now on in. (Warning - made me a bit teary.)

Miskate · 11/08/2014 12:23

I need to try this baby mapping lark. I have midwife tomorrow for the w28 appointment so hopefully she can give me some tips. At the moment i am sure that this baby is totally, utterly breach. About as breach as a baby can be. I constantly feel head/bum far over my left side, and then kicks going all the time on the right, so lying horizontally across me. Last night they properly jammed themselves in, and my whole right hand side went pointy. Fun times!

MrsDowneyJunior · 11/08/2014 13:14

I can't tell at all where this little monkey is, I'll give the baby mapping at all but I think I'm just not dextrous or tactile enough to know what the hell is going on in there!

This diabetes thing pisses me off. A load of fuss over nothing. I am not diabetic. I just make big babies which is logical and expected if you look at me and my family and the father. The first test came back all clear and this one will too, it's totally pointless and just makes me feel like shit for nothing. I'm all for being cautious about these things but can we use some logic too??

PosyFossilsShoes · 11/08/2014 13:52

I have no idea where mine is lying, and I can't tell its arse from its elbow! Grin

ladydolly · 11/08/2014 13:59

I'm pretty sure she's bum up as all my strong kicks are at the top of my bump and the little tickly ones are at the bottom. But the hard lump that seems to be a bottom changes all the time from left to right, this morning was on the right and now is on the left.

The kicks are so strong I actually videoed them yesterday!

Annarose2014 · 11/08/2014 14:46

MrsDowney it turns out that there is only one reason that I even had to have a glucose test - cos I was over 30. It was ticked on a big list. I was like Shock

Anyway, today I am 28 weeks and suddenly am feeling it really hard going. Is this a normal thing?

Cos today we went on an excursion and we had to go up a very small hill (a mound really) and I was seriously struggling. It wasn't my hips, it was my bump. Horrible pressure underneath my ribs on either side, and the weight of my bump! Like i was carrying a rucksack in front of me!

And even walking back to the car park I was winded. I was shocked!

So things seem to have taken a shit turn. Sad Am starting to feel like an invalid! Really really really didn't expect this until about Week 34!

ladydolly · 11/08/2014 14:52

oh annarose don't be too despondent just yet. I'm no expert, this only baby number at 27 + 4 but about 2 weeks ago I really felt the same, coinciding with back pain and the return of nausea and after a few days it got better again. I'm not saying I feel amazing but its certainly much better. I think it's just up and down... hope it's the same for you.

Although did notice this morning's swim was harder work than I've noticed for a while. And the thought of trotting out 3 or 4 miles of running before work like I used to is laughable!

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 11/08/2014 16:12

Hi all

Our baby room looks like mothercare has had a whirlwind really needs a sort out.

25weeks on thur got midwife appointment as well that day.

Brought a second hand stokke washed all covers Sat got on line n pissed it down so dried in doors rewashed today as want fresh air smell lovely sunny day nearly dry n rains again stopped now but cannot be bothered pegging it all back out.

Annarose2014 · 11/08/2014 17:07

I do know that baby is lying across me rather than up/down, so I suspect this is a cause of a lot of my discomfort. Everything is squashed under my ribs. He's a tall lad too! Stretches all the way left to right! Last night he was jerking away and I got kicked both under the left and right ribs simultaeously! Hmm

I'm nursing and back on the wards in a weeks time. Lord, how i dread it! If I find it hard going up a bloody hillock.......!

Am off on mat leave at 32 weeks though - thats becoming my mantra. 32weeks32weeks32weeks.......

bunnykitten · 11/08/2014 17:31

Had my 28 week appointment today and I'm getting really depressed about them. It still seems to be a form filling exercise and I feel like I'm just being processed. I'm not given any advice. I had to mention the whooping cough jab and was told to make an appointment with the nurse. I had to ask during which weeks I need the jab in. And then when I asked what position the baby was in, she said she didn't know, despite having just measured me and checked the heartbeat. I'm wondering if my expectations are too high about what advice I would get? Maybe I'm being a bit of a princess but I genuinely thought the midwives would be offering advice rather than filling out forms. Rant over!

PosyFossilsShoes · 11/08/2014 20:28

Annarose I've felt like that all day today and I'm only 27 weeks. Everything just looks like way too much effort, I'm winded going up stairs, and I'm exhausted after a hectic weekend. I've had a bump growth spurt though so maybe my body just needs to get used to the extra.

ladydolly I'm so tired I'm not focusing on the screen properly and at first I thought your post said "I'm pretty sure she's up my bum" Grin Maybe I need to make a cuppa and go to sleep!

ladydolly · 11/08/2014 21:40

posy sometimes I have to admit it does feel that way...

TwigletFiend · 12/08/2014 07:23

Urk. Somebody remind me that I do actually have to get up this morning.

lady, quite relieved you said that as occasionally feels that way for me too.
