Strawberryfield12 · 08/08/2014 16:17

whenwillwe I still dont have carpal syndrome but last Friday I had pregnancy massage and was told that I had lost of tension in my arms, she did a good job, I could feel it being painful during massage and next few days they felt sour. I kept looking at them and not believing that I didnt have a single bruise. Have feelt all right afterwards and next Friday going for another massage.

weeonion · 08/08/2014 16:25

Just heard from a pal that she has lost her baby at 14 weeks. She has been trying for 15 years to have a child - difficulties in conceiving and this was the longest she had carried. Sad

Also got email from a work colleague that she has lost hers at 18 weeks.

Helps put things in perspective.......

FTMK · 08/08/2014 16:41

Whenwill, I've had it a few times - woken up in the night with hands numb etc but not all the time. My sciatica is more of a concern in the last few days. Making walking very painful this week and we are about to go off on holiday for a week. I had the odd twinge over the last few weeks but it always went off with rest but it seems to be back all the time over the ladt 2 days. I have a group appointment at the end of the month but I'm hoping they'll then say if you try the exercises and they don't work you can self-refer because I really think I am going to struggle as this seems to be getting worse. Any tips from those who've already seen a physio?

FTMK · 08/08/2014 16:42

weeonion Thanks - you're right - it does put things in perspective. Tough for them and for you. X

FTMK · 08/08/2014 16:43

I meant a tough thing for them to go through - sorry - it read back badly.

Petal26 · 08/08/2014 16:48

Oh weeonion, that is sad :-( I do forget sometimes that a bit of tiredness and sickness is nothing.

Have not weighed myself since booking in and won't bother. It's mostly bump but have noticed the top of my arms and top of my legs are bigger :-(. I was lucky last time and it all came of breastfeeding (and a bit more too) so fingers crossed for the same this time!

Went into school this morning and did 4 hours of tidying and paperwork, short bursts I think! Was a bit of shock, developed a headache and got really tired. No idea how i am going to cope going back in September for 8 weeks until half term!

FTMK · 08/08/2014 16:54

I'm worried about that too Petal - although will not have a class responsibility (primary). We have to unpack the classrooms in the last week though due to building work not finishing until then and I'm not sure how helpful I can be with sciatica! Just doing bits of sorting at home has flared it up.

pinkgirlythoughts · 08/08/2014 17:17

Same here FTMK- building work being done over the holidays means that I won't be able to get into my classroom to unpack things until the very end of the holidays. I do have class responsibility, though, which makes it even harder, as I'm thinking (well, not thinking, at the moment!) about lesson plans, display boards etc as well :(

On a lighter note, DH is taking me away for the night tomorrow, as it's our first wedding anniversary on Sunday. My mum is looking after DS, and when we get back on Sunday evening, DSis has booked us all a meal to celebrate :)

Annarose2014 · 08/08/2014 17:22

I have a bit of Carpal Tunnel in my main forefinger. I assumed it was from writing but apparently its a thing in pregnancy.

Cue my DH: "Is there ANYTHING that isn't a thing in pregnancy??!"

Grin
Vicky5910 · 08/08/2014 19:59

I'm worried about that too Petal. I spent two hours playing with my daughter and sister this morning and had to have a nap afterwards! I can't even get the energy up to look at lesson plans, and we have Ofsted coming in the first half term :( (almost guaranteed....)

Alita7 · 08/08/2014 20:04

onion that's so sad! I feel so lucky to have a viable baby!

Petal26 · 08/08/2014 20:41

vicky We have got Ofsted coming in the first half term too, we suspect! Just doing mundane things like display boards and book labels today, leaving planning at least another week yet! So tired!

Saw the optician yesterday and he thought my blurred vision sounds like 'visual migraines' and my tiredness is not helping, told me to rest. (Not sure how with the 2.5 year old!!)

PosyFossilsShoes · 08/08/2014 22:13

I'm worried about work too. My job involves practical work in the mornings and paperwork in the afternoons / evenings as a general rule, and by the time I get to 3pm I'm just so exhausted that I've been putting the paperwork off, which means I'm now backlogged.

I'm hoping that the tiredness is just the baby having a growth spurt and I'll be ok in a week or so - or enough to get back on top of things before going off on mat leave.

TwigletFiend · 09/08/2014 11:53

Good morning, ladies.

weeonion, very sorry to hear about your friends Sad. Crossing fingers for them both that there is a brighter sunrise on the horizon.

RE weight gain, not much of a clue. Think I've put on about 4kg now, last weighed myself about 4 weeks ago and weighed about a kilo more than original weight at that point. My bump has popped out since then though - finally! Not too worried about the whole thing really. It'll be what it'll be!

How is everyone doing movement-wise? Still no pattern here that I can discern. I get the odd day of mega-movement, proper kicks and thumps, then several quieter days where it's more swooshy, roly-poly feelings. Bizarrely though, I can feel exactly where the baby is most of the time. From the outside, I mean. Am slouched on the sofa at the moment and can cup my hand around a bottom and part of a leg sticking out above and slightly inside my right hip! It's such an odd feeling - I can make out actual baby parts! Anyone else have this?!

Those with physical jobs, I feel for you Sad I taught at Pony Club camp last week and my ride were aged between 2 and 4, so absolutely tiny! It was really good fun but very hard work, especially as it was out in the sun all day. It's so hard to keep upbeat and energetic all the time, but they get bored so quickly if you're flat. Hats off to Petal, pink and FTMK, as well as anyone else who teaches. I hope your schools are making life as easy for you as possible.Who was it who is the nurse or nursing student? Amy or anna possibly? Sorry, my brain is a bit mush today and I can't find it when I flip back through the threads! Whoever it is, hope you're managing your mega shifts ok too.

Strawberry, the jelly sounds divine. I have cold roast lamb in the fridge and I bet that would be yummmmmm in a sandwich. Could I pinch the recipe please?!

Two ladies I know have had their babies this week. The first is my DB's ex, who is a lovely woman. She is about 5'10 but so petite, a size 6 all the way down. She gave birth to a 9lb 4oz little boy. Ouch! The other was a lady on my skittles team who is shorter but was quite plump pre-pregnancy (not trying to be rude, obviously, this is the descriptor she uses for herself!) and has actually lost weight while pregnant. Her little girl was born 5lb 6oz, so pretty teeny weeny! They're both absolutely beautiful though, my hormones had a surge and I got all teary eyed when I saw them Smile

blamber · 09/08/2014 14:49

Twiglet I wish I could feel where the baby is but the placenta is in the way. I roughly know which way it's facing by the location of the kicks. They are regular now as in almost the same in frequency every day, but the times sometimes still differ.

bunnykitten · 09/08/2014 15:32

On weight gain, I've put on 10lbs, which doesn't seem much. I was a little overweight to start with, and didn't put on any weight for the first 12 weeks as I was so nauseous, despite my expanding bump and boobs. I assume I was shrinking while baby was growing and it all evened out? I have my 28 week appointment on Monday so I guess I'll find out if my weight is ok or not. Do I get to eat lots of chocolate if I need to put on weight? It's not a problem I have ever had before!

I must admit I've been wearing my baby on board badge since 8 weeks, I couldn't make the 20 min underground journey without sitting due to the nausea. The times I couldn't get a seat I had to get out for air part way through. I think wearing the badge also avoids strangers having to guess whether you're pregnant or fat! It's obvious to us and our friends, but for people who have never seen us before I don't think it's that easy - I've seen ladies who I genuinely couldn't tell if they were 8 months pregnant or obese. And I'm not going to risk guessing and getting wrong! I've seen that happen!

I've also just received my south west trains mum to be first class upgrade pass. I think it's only available to season ticket holders, but if there are no seats available in standard class, the pass allows you to sit in first class. I hope I get to use it sometime! Smile

bunnykitten · 09/08/2014 15:36

Forgot to mention, I can feel baby kicking a lot, but there is no discernable routine and I can't tell how he is positioned.

amy83firsttimer · 09/08/2014 17:35

weeonion sorry to hear about your friends. Any loss must be terrible.
On movement it had been very regular but seems to have become less obvious. I think this is because the novelty's worn off and I'm getting more while I sleep. It's hard not to worry though after what happened to my friend. I think I need to get past the point she lost hers at before I can relax again.
DH has been good at rationalising away the anxiety by making me wait 30 mins before I'm allowed to panic. Every time I've been kicked before about 10 mins!!

Invested in ice pops to this end. They work!!!

Strawberryfield12 · 09/08/2014 17:42

twiglet I used this recipe:
www.gardenbetty.com/2012/02/grapefruit-rosemary-jelly/

We have pulled pork in the oven in making, will try out with the jelly.

Petal26 · 09/08/2014 22:45

Realised in B+Q today I am officially now 'waddling' rather than walking.

Also two of my sneezes today have resulted in a little bit of a wee as well....

Reaching the glamorous stage of pregnancy I think! Ha!

utopian99 · 10/08/2014 03:50

Right, I'm really getting to the stage where sleeping is uncomfortable now. Time to crack out the pg pillow I think..

Alita7 · 10/08/2014 09:37

I can feel roughly what position he is due to where he's kicking or punching and I can feel his head and bum :p but not his actual limbs yet although once I thought I could feel a leg but not sure.

Movement is periodicle, he has a couple of manic days then some lazy ones.

Annarose2014 · 10/08/2014 10:09

Yes, I am definately doing a "John Wayne" walk now. So attractive.

Baby is getting very active now. Or rather it must be a lot bigger as I can feel much more now. Still makes me feel a bit nauseated, even though I am glad little one is getting bigger. But I think it won't be able to somersault for much longer, so it may get easier (kicks rather than flips)

28 weeks tomorrow - oh my!

Absolutely thrilled to be getting to the "viable" stage. Albeit with lots of incubators and worry involved. It is still very reassuring.

God almighty but I'm sick of discharge though. Really tedious. Sorry for the TMI, lol!

Annarose2014 · 10/08/2014 10:11

Baby is now 2lbs - so exciting!

......Until DH remarked "So it will literally quadruple in weight? You're going to be HUGE!"

And I thought OH SHIT!!! Grin

FTMK · 10/08/2014 10:52

Yes. The sciatica is making me walk oddly. Just managed a short walk along the beach but feel very useless as can't go far without pain. Then feel like a big lump having to do less. And I feel like bump is huge even now at 25 weeks, despite measuring slightly under at MW check. Baby has no patterns and I can rarely feel things when I'm up and about - only when lying down. Makes it hard to track movements - also some days it is vv quiet (e.g. Yesterday where I had v little all day, despite being sat in the car on way to hols for most of it.) Can you tell I'm grumpy today?! Sad
