Thanks mrs wombat, will remember to ask my midwife at 36 weeks then :-)

Midwife rang me with the blood test results today and my iron levels are high so it's not that... Still feeling dizzy/dosey and constantly tired. Asked midwife if she thought it might be gestational diabetes with the similar symptoms and blurred vision (not trying to self diagnose but something is not right with me :-( and she said to go the the GP if I wanted more advice on why i'm feeling like this!
The glucose test sounds like a pain but in a way I would like it to rule out GD. Don't think I'm going to be offered it by the sounds of it...

Strawberryfield12 · 06/08/2014 15:08

blamber I think u have to apply yourself for the badge online to TFL. I am also commuting to London.

blamber · 06/08/2014 16:21

Petal definitely go see the GP. He/she can refer you for a glucose test too. Just tell him about your symptoms and if he doesn't mention it himself also talk to him about the possibility of it being gd. If the midwife doesn't do anymore then maybe the GP will. If you feel there's something not quite right, best to make sure everything is properly checked.

Thanks strawberry but I'm way up north and not near London.. Never seen a badge like that here!

weeonion · 06/08/2014 17:52

ok folks. quick rant so please indulge and then ignore!

We lent ALOT of our baby stuff out to folks. Majority of bigger items and my mat clothes went to SIL which by her own confession she never used in the end. We got some pieces back in dribs and drabs and i also knew that she sold my mat clothes and gave away stuff without asking if we wanted them back. She had our baby monitors / sensory pad and i have been asking for them for weeks only to be fudged off. Eventually today she texted to say she no longer had them and had charity shopped them. I textedback to say i was surprised that she had sent them to charity shop without asking , especially as they had cost us alot of money. (BTW - I have NO problem with stuff going t charity shops and would always do that as opposed to selling anything). She replied saying that she never used them, thought we would never have another baby as the age gap was so big and anyhow - if we would co-sleep then we have no need for them.

I am pissed off. i have never really let her know i was annoyed about other stuff gong without asking us but in this instance i am as i have been asking for them alot without her telling me sooner, her supposed reasons and as she cant even apologise for giving away stuff without asking.

Probably being hormonally irrational but it is over £100 that i wasnt expecting to have to pay out...... ook ...... off to source sugary food to console myself with ....

Annarose2014 · 06/08/2014 18:00

Petal so many women get the glucose test that I'd say it'd be a doddle getting referred.

Its quite painless, you have to give blood three times over two hours but its such a tiny wee butterfly canula that I don't even have any bruises. I do think I went a bit Hypoglycaemic this morning though - I felt pretty terrible by noon having not eaten anything since last night. Not dizzy or blurry, but almost unable to complete a sentence and hugely irritable (as you may all have noticed, lol). I just felt quite vague and weak and completely the opposite to myself. I could barely answer the nurse. So I suspect my sugars were down in my boots by the end.

I'm ok since eating a big lunch but it was a suprise to feel so poorly. The nurse was telling everyone to have something to eat and a girl chirped "I have a banana in my handbag!" Hmm The nurse gave her an earful! She must have a proper lunch! Chips if neccessary! Grin

AnnaBananaBoo · 06/08/2014 18:00

Oooh, that is so rude and you have every right to be pissed off!! To not even ask if you wanted them back before donating them and then to not fess up sooner which implies that she knows she is in the wrong and then not to apologise...tut! Hope you find something suitably huge and sugary!

Annarose2014 · 06/08/2014 18:04

weeonion there's absolutely nothing you can do/say unfortunately. I've been given mat clothes by a friend who's 45 and I'm still in a quandry about what to do with them afterwards! Feels very wierd to give other peoples stuff away to a charity shop but if I asked if she wanted them back she'd laugh at me!

But if she were in her thirties they'd be going back to her, no question. Its like The Pregnancy Code or something.

Loaf99 · 06/08/2014 18:52

Hello everyone not looking forward to a long haul work flight return to brasil with internal flights. Also work stress generally and oh renting a flat out for first time and trying to buy everything for the baby. Wah

Loaf99 · 06/08/2014 18:54

Plus my baby has a 90th percentile head size

picklebum2011 · 06/08/2014 21:07

Hi hope everyone is OK. I wanted some advice if poss, we saw the consultant again yesterday and had a scan first. The sonographer didn't say there was a problem said all looked good then we saw consultant. When we sat down she looked serious and said the amniotic fluid was very high. 19.5cm at 26 weeks 5 days. On the scan report it said this made it 97th centile. She wants me to have the glucose test in case diabetes. (Is anyone else really scared of having this) I just feel really worried now.

Petal26 · 06/08/2014 21:18

Thanks blamber and anna, I will make an appointment at the docs.

weeonion that is so off :-( Who is she to decide if you are going to have another baby and what age gap you want!
Don't give her a birthday/Christmas pressie and tell her you had to buy a new monitor with the money :-p

Strawberryfield12 · 06/08/2014 21:29

Sorry Blamber, lost the plot between "tube is in LOndon" and "Londoners don't care about each other".

Have been looking on 4D videos on YouTube, that looks really good. Would be a shame not to have such a memory for the baby, never mind we both would be staring at her like silly.

Hopeful83 · 06/08/2014 21:48

weeonion - I think that's awful. I can't believe how many people have said on here that people have given away/sold things they've been lent. It should have been given back as soon as it was finished with. You have every right to be annoyed! I also can't believe people have sold clothes on ebay which were only borrowed in the first place. I am borrowing a few items but would always return them.

Alita7 · 07/08/2014 00:07

Wee onion I'd be asking her when I'm getting the money back! I would never give something away without asking! In fact I think I would ask upon receiving baby stuff if they would like it back after I'm done. It's even worse that they didn't even use it themselves!

MrsDowneyJunior · 07/08/2014 06:00

I lent things out after DD and I expected them back once their little ones had grown out of them, or in the case of my ex brother in law, once they decided to be total pricks in the breakdown of our marriage, these items sure as he'll did not belong to my ex, but never saw them again. I presumed they were long gone and 6 months into this pg when I've already re-bought everything apparently my ex has them to give back to me now. Hmm Well no, I don't want them back now after you kept them 8 years for all your kids and passed them round your friends and didn't return them when you should have or when I've already bloody replaced them!! Angry They were to BORROW while we were friends or till you got your own, not to save you ever buying anything for any of your own kids whilst simultaneously being a nasty piece of work to me. Seriously??? Angry

blamber · 07/08/2014 10:26

Loaf sorry I giggled when I read your comment on the head size. Don't worry, I'm sure it'll be fine!

Picklebum, hope the glucose test results will be fine.

Weeonion yes that is just too rude! I would let her know you're disappointed she gave away or sold your stuff without asking. It's worse if they made financial gain out of it. She should be offering to replace it really.

I think it's always best to ask if someone wants their stuff back even if the other person is 45. It's the polite thing to do and they might want it back to give it to someone else they know.

blamber · 07/08/2014 10:30

I have really been struggling with my breathing today. I felt so uncomfortable in the metro and got really anxious which made things worse. It felt like the baby was crushing my lungs and I couldn't get enough oxygen.

Luckily it seems to have improved although I still feel like I need to take deep breaths constantly. My nose is blocked too which doesn't help.

Annarose2014 · 07/08/2014 11:17

Thats true blamber, my friend may want to pass them on to others (mind you, all of her friends seem to be even older, but its best to be polite anyway!)

I also have a lot of shortness of breath - walking the dog is a sloooowwww process these days! My ward is on the 1st floor, and it feels like Everest! So pathetic! I even occasionally take the lift which takes longer to wait for than taking the stairs! Blush

TwigletFiend · 07/08/2014 12:01

Life in general bit stressful here, so just dropping in briefly!

Loaf, babies' heads are sort of like those collapsible cups where the pieces slide over each other a bit. It will get squished to a manageable size during the birth, I'm sure!

weeonion, I'm with Petal - buy no presents and claim it's because you knew she wouldn't mind you recouping the losses she forced on you by not getting her anything ever again this year.

MW appointment today. I'm sure everything is fine as Bean is kicking like a champ the last three or four days, but still feel irrationally nervous. Am keeping up with you all as best I can - hope everyone is feeling ok!

Annarose2014 · 07/08/2014 12:16

Does anyone elses baba have a kicking schedule? Mine goes mad first thing in the morning and last thing at night but is quite quiet during the day.

Is that normal?

By the way, had my first "kicking whilst getting jiggy" experience. Blush I just ignored it and didn't mention it to poor DH who would be totally freaked out (& that would definately be the total end of my sexytimes until baby was born!). But it definately destroyed my concentration, lol. Really hope its not an everytime occurance.

ladydolly · 07/08/2014 12:24

annarose I think I read that while you're busy the baby is quiet and when you're sitting/laying down/quieter the baby is lively. For me she's awake and kicking pretty much non stop from when I wake up until I go to bed. The only time I don't feel her is when I'm swimming in the morning.

We don't have jiggytime anymore :( so can't tell you on that front!

MrsDowneyJunior · 07/08/2014 12:37

I've now taken to photographing the person with the item I've lent them, under the excuse that I'll forget I've leant it & be looking, adhd. Usually gives them the hint that I will want it back and remember they have it.

MrsDowneyJunior · 07/08/2014 12:47

Don't stop the jiggy time. Orgasms are like a cuddle for the baby. Wink

ladydolly · 07/08/2014 12:51

MrsDJ - very wise on the photo front, I think I'll do that with any gifts we get as well, all the new mums I know say they've no idea who they came from to thank them.

Jiggytime, oh how I miss it. I'm still up for it, DP not so much. He was convinced it might do some damage in the 1st trimester (I had a chemical preg last year and I think it shook him up a bit) and since then he's just made lots of excuses. He doesn't have a particularly high sex drive anyway so I'm not surprised and I'm not going to make him if he's not comfortable (if the situation were reversed I'd hope he'd understand). I just have to give the baby 'cuddles' myself ;)

moggle · 07/08/2014 13:06

annarose mine has a definite schedule too: lots of movement when I wake up, at about 11 before lunch, late afternoon, and then again when I'm lying in bed before sleep. It does correspond to periods when I've been sitting or lying in one position for a while so does make sense! The count the kicks campaign says to choose a time when your baby is usually active to count, so I think it's all fine.
