Jump aboard ladies.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
weeonion · 05/08/2014 23:20

elliekins - that is so lovely. your post really made me smile and cheered up my evening! your happiness just pours off the page! Grin

mrswombat - spinningbabies website has good info on positions / postures for OP/ back to back. My lazybaby classes spend a fair bit of time on this as well. I have my birthing ball pumped up and ready. All my sitting is now being done on it - knees lower than pelvis!!

Strawberryfield12 · 06/08/2014 07:39

Elliekins that sounds amazing, considering one myself now :)

ladydolly · 06/08/2014 07:53

Well hello 3rd trimester, it appears you are just as shit as the first but with added flatulence.

MrsWombat · 06/08/2014 08:03

Petal She said to ask my community midwife at 36 weeks and to look some positions up on the internet as I'll probably forget by then! She said to avoid slumping on the sofa and driving for long periods of time - your knees need to be lower that your pelvis. Lean over a bean bag/birthing ball and sit on a dinning chair backwards. Lots of walking.

I've had a look at the spinning babies website. It all looks too complicated and wordy for me Blush and I can't see DP wanting to help... I tried the upside one last night though which wasn't too bad.

I'm seriously looking at something like reflexology or acupuncture to help as well.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 06/08/2014 08:05

Lady dolly with this pregnancy I am still waiting for a good part sickness is much less thankfully and actually feeling ok compared to before will be 24wks thur.

ON THE MAIN PREGNANCY BIT I HAVE POSTED A THREAD FOR A FREE YOOMI BOTTLE WORTH 7.50 YOU HAVE TO PAY POSTAGE OF 2.99

ladydolly · 06/08/2014 08:52

eastmids I REALLY REALLY feel for you and anyone else who's had sickness all the way through. Weeks 14 - 24 were awesome, I was running around telling everyone how amazing I felt and that I was in the gym every day and eating well la la la la. This morning at 4am I was on the sofa sobbing that I will feel sick for the next 13 weeks and won't ever sleep past 4am again.

I'm in work and feel like when you drink so much you have both a hangover and fuzzy/still drunk brain. My assistant keeps askign me really simple questions and I sit with my head in my hands trying to find a way to not answer in case I totally f**k something up.

Gahhhh I need a dose of positivity!!! I think I'll try and head home and work from there. and have a sneaky nap

utopian99 · 06/08/2014 08:56

I spent a few weeks painting skirting boards at the end of last pg - that should help with spinning babies!

Also to anyone considering Accupuncture I couldn't recommend it more highly. Well worth doing in my mind, for pain relief and helping things happen more smoothly come the time...

utopian99 · 06/08/2014 10:11

Right, doctor said I don't need fit to fly at 25 + 4 weeks and I'll have to get it in Ibiza! Bugger. Will probably be a nightmare trying to find a doctor not dealing with hungover revellers... grr.
Also, we're on holiday with family in sicily at 30 weeks. I'll definitely need a fit to fly by then, and when I mentioned it she gave me a lecture about dvt and clotting issues and near as dammit told me to cancel, which I really don't want to do. Has anyone done this onpprevious pregnancy? Surely if I wear travel socks and walk around loads during the flights it's not that much of an issue?

Annarose2014 · 06/08/2014 10:31

utopian are you allowe to take aspirin during pregnancy? Thats good for preventing DVT on flights, but you have to take it (I believe) a couple of days before the flight and a couple of days after.

Glucose test this morning. Am feeling all HULK RAGE HULK SMASH! cos I can't have a cup of tea. No breakfast till noon! Am getting very very angry at the world. Also getting very cranky cos all the other mothers have nicer maternity clothes than me. WHERE ARE THEY GETTING THEM FROM??? Angry

Am going to retaliate by having a disgusting hot chicken baguette with cheeses as soon as I can. That'll teach 'em! Grin

Greenstone · 06/08/2014 11:18

Haha AnnaRose I felt exactly the same during my glucose test - right down to lack of tea rage and the nicer maternity clothes angst!

This morning I have eaten an apple, half a big banana, a slice of toast, and a fuckload of pumpkin seeds. I am gasping for something sweet and shitty now, got a real bee in my bonnet about it. Trying to talk myself out of sneaking out to the shops to get something. Argh!

please give me inspiration for what to buy when I do eventually cave

Annarose2014 · 06/08/2014 11:30

One and one woman looks to be about 9 months pregnant and has this huge torpedo shaped belly but the rest of her is still clearly a size 8 and she's wearing this skimpy little top and a stretchy jersey skirt and she's all tanned and has 0% back fat even, and HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN???

god I turn into a right cow without tea......Sad

Not long now.

blamber · 06/08/2014 11:30

I thought in many hospitals they delay clamping now? I'll put it in my birth plan. Speaking of which, is that plan a piece of paper you get and fill in or do you just do it yourself?

Didnt know about anterior placenta and OP either or about that your position can help the baby's position! I'm having real trouble sitting comfortably at work now. Can't lean forward because baby is in the way. Chair is too hard now as well and I have to keep reminding myself not to cross my legs!

Yesterday someone gave me their seat in the metro. First time! It was really kind and I was glad I could sit.

Miskate · 06/08/2014 11:32

Doughnut? Pecan maple twist?
Magnum?
My husband made me butterscotch angel delight last night with bananas, whipped cream and a chopped up chomp bar. Delicious 80s chemicals.

Greenstone · 06/08/2014 11:58

I'm back with two a giant chocolate chip cookie. From the local artisan bakery to make myself feel better Wink

Miskate that sounds incredible and very lovingly crafted!

weeonion · 06/08/2014 12:08

Miskate - I'm liking the sound of that dessert, especially with the chomp touch!
Ladysolly - hows work going now? I totally sympathise with the brain fudge. I do alot of public speaking which is getting more difficult as I am sure I no longer make sense ay times.
Blamber - not sure if different areas have different approaches to birth plans. Here, it is something you work on urself. Last time I had 4 copies - one for do, one for myself, one for me and one for consultant. There are loads of them shared on MN for inspiration.
Annarose - yep - where do other women get clothes?? Last time I got some really beaut stuff on a work trip to Sweden and Finland. Sadly, lent them to someone who sold them,on eBay. Bah. Quite possibly those other women loom at you and are envious,of you too!
Greenstone - go to the shop. I'd go for a box of celebrations and then you have a range to choose from!!!!;

ladydolly · 06/08/2014 12:59

weeonion the last couple of days I'm not coping at all. Last week I made a big song and dance to my boss about how I didn't want him doing my work and that I planned to give 100% until the day I go on leave and by yesterday I regretted that. Thankfully I don't have to do any public speaking but I do have to chair a lot of long meetings and slip into technical talk now and again but I'm really struggling with the simplest of questions and I keep forgetting to update people on project progress. I'm really hoping this is due to tiredness and not the dreaded 'baby brain' which I've always poo pooed as excuses and not an actual thing' How long are you going to keep going? I guess you have to travel to the engagements? I've already stopped all my travel apart from 1 day trip to London in September.

I'm always jealous of other pregnant ladies. When I'm on my own I reason that I can't spend loads of money of mat clothes just for a few months wear/it's not worth wearing high heels/no one cares if I wear make up/it's better to get to work 10 minutes earlier than blow dry my hair/I've only put on weight on my bump and then I see one of the aforementioned skinny, brown, somehow not waddling women and it all goes out the window.

PosyFossilsShoes · 06/08/2014 13:08

Elliekins where in Chiswick did you go for your 4D scan?

Strawberryfield12 · 06/08/2014 13:40

blamber don't you get normally offered the seat on tube?
Since 2 weeks ago when the bump properly popped I always get offered the seat. There are ppl who just stare at the bump and then pretend they haven't seen, but always at least one to be nice. Mind you, I don't even have a baby on board badge. I just decided not to get it, bcs if ppl want to give a seat they would do it anyway.
Before the bump appeared properly, they were mainly elderly ladies who wanted to gave up their seat, which I simply couldn't accept, as I feel fine and probably am still more fit to stand than some 70 year old.

Strawberryfield12 · 06/08/2014 13:42

The glucose test is something I really don't look forward, all those lucozades and similar make me gag on their own, never mind starving for a day. Brrrr....

moggle · 06/08/2014 13:50

I don't think there's really any dvt risk with a short haul flight is there?! Sometimes I sit at my desk at work or on the sofa at home for as long as it would take me to fly to the Med!!
My worry with the whole flying while pregnant thing is if a steward/ess decides you look further along than you are, what you can do to prove this if you have no fit to fly letter. We're flying to Spain in 2 weeks when I'll be 27 weeks, but while I feel enormous I don't think I am particularly so hoping that it won't be an issue.

Re birth plans - there's an exhaustive list of things you MAY want to put in on the NHS website. Supposedly you can tick the boxes and save it to print, although the comments at the bottom suggest this might not be straightforward. I'm planning to use it as a starting point and just pull out the bits that I feel strongly about.

weeonion · 06/08/2014 13:52

Lady - that sounds tough. I used to poo poo the idea of baby brain ad well but tbh. I do think the hormones etc as well as the worry / constant thoughts of being pg, tiredness and physical changes have an impact. I also know its hard not to do the comparison with other womens appearance. On holiday I caught sight of myself in windows etc and was still shocked at how I look. I wasn't svelte before I got pg but wow, how cam I stand up with falling flat on my pg belly I dont know. You ate doing a bloody good job of making it into work at all, especially in,what sounds like a demanding job. X

I am due on 25th Oct and plan to work up to 24th Oct. Have to with work, commitments and to try and keep as much mat leave for afterwards. I travel alot all across Scotland but last big public speaking engagement is on 10th Oct, about 80 miles away so hopefully manageable!!

weeonion · 06/08/2014 13:57

Moggle - I brought my hospital notes/ book with me on holiday invade anything happened. For jet2 that still wasn't enough!

Very envious of all the talk of holidays, only been home 3 weeks and already ready for another break. Have only had 4 full days off since so feels like a very very long time ago. Sad

Elliekins · 06/08/2014 14:25

The 15 minute session was enough, would have happily admired her for hours but realistically that was a good amount of time. Smile

blamber · 06/08/2014 14:48

Strawberry no first time I was offered a seat! I've found that most people are just staring at their phones and don't even see you. And maybe it's only been recently that I have a proper bump. I always think if I need to sit down I'll just ask someone, but somehow I always convince myself I can still manage just fine. Also not in London so no badges here!
