That's some kicking!!! Did you hear about the research which showed if people knew they were having a boy they reported more kicking than if they knew it was a girl. If they didn't know they reported same amount regardless of gender and in fact gender makes no difference. Do you know what you're having?

My DH felt bean giving me a right good kicking today as well Grin - and yesterday could even see bump move when I lay flat on the bed and it started to get fidgety! It is amazing!

amylou85 · 27/07/2014 21:00

That's interesting Amy83, sometimes I zone out to her kicking so maybe knowing you might be having the next David Beckham makes you notice the kicks more!

I love DP to feel but he only feels half of what I do at the moment. I put on his hand and say now? now? NOW? and eventually he'll feel one, I'm sure she does little ones on purpose just to frustrate me!

PosyFossilsShoes · 27/07/2014 21:06

Amy yes I did read that research, it was in "Delusions of Gender" & I thought it was fascinating!

I don't know what I'm having yet…

amy83firsttimer · 27/07/2014 21:11

amylou82 therein lies the problem. Who here can name a famous footballer....... (with a vagina not a penis)? I know there's a pretty one with blonde hair who plays for Liverpool but don't know her name.

Hope Powell was the player turned coach of England wasn't she? Used her when discussing sexist attitudes to football with my class of 7 year olds. We don't know what we're having, kicks vary - sometimes they're strong and frequent, other times they're faint and very low down. Noticing them a bit more as I'm on holidays. In other good news, I've just kept down some pasta tea although I do still feel slightly sicky. Borrowed a BP monitor and BP was fine - was slightly worried as have had floaters in my eyes a couple of times but I did in first trimester as well. 102/63 will do me (family history of PE). Hope everyone's enjoying the cooler weather.

FTMK · 27/07/2014 21:17

Pasta for tea.

amy83firsttimer · 27/07/2014 22:25

I'm having days with loads of kicks followed by days with some but not loads. We don't know what we're having either. We think it's a boy but have no real reason for that. It's going to have a wardrobe with some items that will make people guess wrong gender either way.
DH also seems to have the effect of making baby stop kicking whenever he puts his hand on the bump.

Glad you're feeling better FTMK

Day 4 of potty training in this house, no accidents today, woo!
Been waiting until I was off school for the holidays to go cold turkey with the nappies and it seems to have worked :-) Out and about tomorrow for swimming lessons and shopping so I hope I don't push DD too much...

Have been getting increasingly larger kicks over the last week or so but not like that posy, that's impressive!

Petal26 · 27/07/2014 23:15

Forgot to say, went to a carnival today, walked past JoJoMaman Bebe sale (2 nursing dresses for £27, yes!) and the sales assistant who helped me asked if I was in the 'early stages'. Got all flustered and didn't know what to say, was trying to work out how many weeks left and in the end blurted out 'no, I'm past half way'!
Obviously not showing as much as I thought I was!

weeonion · 28/07/2014 06:43

Morning folks... All checked in at airport and heading Spain-wards.... Gonna get this bump browned.

See you in a week. X

I'm getting regular kicks now. The baby also doesn't like sleeping in! At the weekend it starts doing kick-punches that i can feel on both sides of my belly at the same time, around the time I normally get up, which is way too early!

Labour wise, I just want to avoid an epidural. They creep me out. No feeling from the waste down? Now that's loss of control for me!

I'm also in favour of reducing chemicals used on/near my baby but I would never mess around with vaccinations. Not only would it put the baby at risk, by not vaccinating a virus will never be eradicated. This means you're putting other baby's lives at risk too. I wouldn't want to be responsible for being part of an outbreak that kills a baby too young to be vaccinated. I think science even though not perfect is more reliable than people who don't have the knowledge or have not done any reliable research themselves.

Greenstone · 28/07/2014 10:05

Good morning all,

Very envious of those of you swimming morning laps and out working the garden! Life is a bit manic for me at the moment, loads of events and family stuff and very little sleep at the moment. I'm really struggling with sleep and don't even know if I can blame my bladder, it's like I'm programmed to wake up an hour after going to sleep, then again after 1.5 hours, then maybe I'll get in 2 hours before waking for the morning...ugh. It's starting to hit me that there's still a really long time to go and my bump feels huge! My bellybutton is totally grossing me out too.

Petal great news on the toilet training! Sounds like it's working really fast. We did the same cold turkey on the nappies thing a few months ago and it was sorted in a few days. She's dry at night now too which was a surprise.

utopian yep I hear you, I'm starting to get the same nerves. There'll be 2.10 months between my two which will probably feel a bit less full-on than 2 under 2...but I'm starting to realise just how hard it's going to be! Been spending time with a relative who has a 6 month old and I'd forgotten that it's still so full-on at 6 months - bedtime feeds and settling taking ages and stuff and most of the evening gone by the time you can finally say they're asleep! Oh well. As I said to DH, if we just keep our expectations nice and low for the first year, that's probably the most sensible thing. I'm also considering taking a few months longer maternity leave than I'd planned to. Even 8 or 9 months would be a lot less pressure than 6 months (or 4 months with dd Hmm) and since I think this baby will be our last, may as well make the most of it.

Those of you doing NCT classes, just wondering how close to your due date do they finish?! Mine finish on the 7th nov, EDD is the 17th. Is it too close?! Realise no one can say for sure, I'll either be early or not...! There is another option to finish by 21st Oct but it crams everything into just two weeks; one benefit with the original one is that I'll be on mat leave for most of the sessions.

Miskate · 28/07/2014 10:39

My NCT classes are all in September, over a 2 week period either in evenings or weekends - there were no options to pick a different course either. That's Wales for you! I'm due 4 November, so if anything, mine might be a bit too nearly!

Miskate · 28/07/2014 10:40

early^^

FTMK · 28/07/2014 11:38

Mine starts the second week in September for 6 weeks. There were 2 local ones - both for those with babies due early November to early December. We live on the border of 2 areas so I went for the one in the area I work in and also that best fitted our other commitments. Although having booked, we then discovered that my DP is away with work for a week when the first session is. I will have to front it out, he is threatening to come the week after and tell everyone I have paid him to be there...

We're also going to go along to the 3 hour NHS one with a tour of the MLU and labour ward. Some of my friends didn't do any of them but as I don't really have any friends who are pregnant, I'm hoping to make some friends (does that sound desperate?!!)

Miskate · 28/07/2014 12:33

we can't do the NHS ones as they're only between 2-4 on weekdays, and my husband can't get that much time off work. Disappointing as I really wanted a tour of the labour ward - I might just go on my own and style it out like you!

moggle · 28/07/2014 13:05

That's a shame, our NHS ones are split into ones for just mum, which are during the week, but the main one is on a Saturday so we both can go.
I think I'll stick with my NCT dates and just hope for the best! I have heard that you get a part refund if you can't make them all due to having the baby early...

ToniWol · 28/07/2014 13:23

Our NCT classes are for 5 weeks and start the last week of August - the one's that are run for the NHS are also in the 4 first weeks of September (luckily different nights), and added to the Aquanatal on another night it means I'll still be out 3 nights a week even though I'm not doing the Guiding units.

I managed to eat a full meal last night. Usually we go out and I'll get something and get halfway through and have to stop - however the salmon salad was just the right size.

Am also getting beaten up regularly. I've no idea whether they're kicks or punches though - although today at least there hasn't been any trampolining on my bladder (well - that's what it feels like!)

MrsDowneyJunior · 28/07/2014 13:41

My NCT and NHS classes are all in September and unfortunately I already know I'm going to be missing one because of court against the ex yet again. Seriously it's been 5 years, you'd think he'd have moved on by now especially as he's had a whore girlfriend all that time. Hmm

Hopeful83 · 28/07/2014 16:37

I'm not doing NCT due to the cost but am going to the NHS one day thing in September. My midwife recommended doing them at about 32 weeks.

TMI alert - does anyone else seem to be getting a lot of white discharge? Is this normal? There are no other symptoms.

Hopeful83 · 28/07/2014 19:02

Ok so I've done some Googling (I know, probably not advisable) and have now convinced myself it's thrush as last week I was itchy down there (not any more) and it was painful during sex at the weekend. I also have white patches of skin peeling off inside my lips (mouth not down there) which google says is oral thrush (they look like mouth ulcers but no pain). I'm going to call the midwife tomorrow to get her opinion. Feel really embarrassed and disgusting Sad
