Attended clinic today, doctor did a quick presentation scan. Baby is transverse. Having another scan in 2 weeks and if still not turned then method of delivery will be decided. Really starting to panic now that a section might be a reality, so scared! Hope everyone is doing well xx

Penguin13 · 11/11/2014 22:28

Oh my goodness strawbs I love the bumpers and bunting. How lovely of your sister and friends to organise a surprise baby shower. That cake is beautiful.

Mrs I would have cried too even if I wasn't hormonal! Glad that she had a good first day though.

Oh Basgetti how rubbish for you that the respite was only temporary. Keeping my fingers crossed that this is just a blip and you are vomit - free again soon.

MrsFtn · 13/11/2014 20:05

basgetti sorry to hear you had another bout of sickness - I hope it was a one off. It sounds like baby is at least trying to turn the right way round if it was transverse at your appt! I know what you mean about csection - the thought scares me too but just think of how many csection procedures are successfully performed every day - it's a very common procedure even though it is 'major surgery'. Also, on the plus side it would be nice to know exactly when baby is going to arrive so you won't have to worry about where/when things will start.

Regular I hope you've had a better week this week. Once you start winding down at work I'm sure everything else will fall into place. I wouldn't worry too much about hospital bag - there's probably nothing important the hospital can't supply if necessary!

Strawbs what a lovely time you must have had at your baby shower! The cake looks amazing. Sounds like you got some lovely presents too.

Penguin have you driven anywhere on your own yet? I remember it feeling really strange the first few times not having someone sat next to you!

I had a further growth scan today and at 37+6 baby is measuring 8lb 4oz which sounded ok to me but apparently they had expected him to be bigger after last week's scan so now I have to go back AGAIN next week for another doppler scan (to check blood flow from placenta to baby). I was really hoping to get discharged back to MW care but it seems once you're in the system they like to keep you there. On the plus side head was 2/5 engaged at my MW appt last week so things are moving in the right direction.

Oh and DD absolutely LOVES her new pre-school which is such a weight off my mind. I'm glad she'll have a bit of time to get used to it before baby comes as it will mean lots of change for her iykwim.

Penguin13 · 17/11/2014 07:50

Hi ladies. Hope you all had a good weekend.

Still haven't driven anywhere on my own yet Mrs although I will have the car on Fri so that could be the day - eek! Still feel like someone is going to tap me on the shoulder tell me they made a mistake and take my licence back!

38 weeks today and am looking forward to this baby being here though I have a feeling they are going to make a late entrance. I've been finding it hard to keep active as my pelvic pain has been pretty bad but have a chiropractor appointment this morning which I hope will help. Other than that just madly bouncing away on my ball trying to jiggle this baby into position!

So glad your DD loves her new pre - school Mrs fewer things to worry about is great especially with everything else going on. It's frustrating about them not discharging you to midwife care but better safe than sorry. Baby sounds like a great, healthy weight though which is brilliant.

What are you all up to those of you who are now on mat leave? Have finished the nursery, washed and sorted baby clothes and bedding, got some home - cooked meals in the freezer, packed the hospital bag(s), made a start on the Christmas shopping - hopefully to be finished this week .....what am I missing?

Shanels · 18/11/2014 08:38

Hi guys
Sorry I've been unable to post here for a while. Thank you for all your well wishes for my cold- but it's because of that I ended up on a was yesterday. Although my cold got better, I was left with a very painful chest and asthma but the docs wanted to rule out blood clot so had to have an xray and Doppler for legs. Didn't have CT in the end as they felt they were satisfied with results. The ward I did end up in was postnatal with 2 mums who had just had their babies- I was out of place but it was very comforting still.
They think the pain is caused by my ribs so fingers crossed, it's nothing else. I was just starting to get into maternity leave and had arranged a social activity for everyday this week but have cancelled now. Just need to rest a bit more. I'm still grateful though that baby is kicking and fidgeting away and really I have about 18 days to go.
penguin the sooner you get in that car, the better it will be. Once Fri is done, you just need practice practice practice and ur confidence will shoot up. By the way, I haven't finished packing bag, sorting nursery etc. I feel so lazy and disorganised but i thought I could carry on with nursery after she's born too since she's in our room first. Or I'm just being naive! I have done most of my Xmas shopping though and again hoping I'll be able to do a bit more after she's born- maybe too naive again!! I have washed and iron baby's clothes for hospital though. I need to set up my iPod and iPad for hospital cos the pay TVs are very expensive. I noticed the wards are very warm so a dressing gown is more than enough over a nightie. Also, I heard the loudest scream yesterday from a woman in delivery and that scared me so much that I want to do done sort of birth plan with a list of things I'm worried about on it just in case I won't be able to communicate what I want when in that state.

Love to all

CoventGarden75 · 18/11/2014 14:10

Hi Everyone, my dad was over for a few days so I've been busy showing him London.
I hope you're all coping with the last stretch of the 3rd tri.
Thanks for all your kind words for DP. He's v. ambitious and hopes to have recovered in 2 months, but for now, still on crutches. Fx he doesn't overdo it.
We've had a growth scan, all good, baby estimated @ 6lbs @ 36w. Here's a few pics. She's been v. active recently and quite strong! Feels like my belly will explode soon.
Mw appt this afternoon & Last week at work, happiness.

Hello again everyone! Sorry, been a bit AWOL again. Been too busy and then had bit of a blood pressure crisis yesterday and so proper rest is back in the agenda.

Great news from today's 36 week scan is the baby has shifted from transverse to head down. Woohoo!!
Still measuring quite big (7lb10oz today apparently) so have to retake GTT this week.

Need to up the blood pressure meds again and go in to the day centre for twice weekly monitoring sessions. Had +1 protein today but fingers crossed the additional test will be fine. I need to call to find out tomorrow.

Induction date set for 9th December. 3 weeks. 3 weeks!!!!

Pram/car seat etc now bought. Labour bag stuff pretty much here but need to actually pack in the bags.

Great to hear everyone's news. Can you believe we are at this stage already?!

basgetti · 19/11/2014 08:45

Hi all. That's great regular that baby has shifted! Can I ask did you feel it happen? I'm getting a bit panicky as I'm also transverse, got another scan next tuesday to see if she has moved and make plans but baby seems very happy where she is at the moment!

Hope everyone else is doing well, I think my sickness has more or less passed now, got a rotten cold at the moment but I can cope with that! Been washing baby clothes and trying to sort out hospital bag finally, can't believe how close we all are now.

35+3 x

regularbutpanickingabit · 19/11/2014 10:47

Hi Basgetti! I have felt some enormous pressure around my belly button at times and felt it was trying to get out that way! Having said that, my dh was prodding my tummy again this morning and thinks it has gone back to transverse. At least I know it CAN go head down so I am hoping that will be the case when we get to d day. I guess with at the monitoring someone will spot if there is an issue again.
Fingers crossed she turns for you soon. So pleased the sickness is giving you some respite but how unfair that you then get a rotten cold. You really have been through the mill.

CoventGarden75 · 19/11/2014 21:09

regular brilliant news that baby has find its way down, surely they will remember the route on d day, and maybe give lesson to basgetti's baby
fx sickness and colds stay away for everyone
2 days left at work, 37 w tomorrow, can't believe it, starting to panic.

Penguin13 · 19/11/2014 22:29

So lovely to 'see' you all and hear how you are.

Sorry to hear you've been in pain and ended up in hospital Shanels. That must have been worrying but great that they looked after you so thoroughly and ruled out anything too serious. I think you're doing the right thing by resting up and gathering your energy - you'll soon need it Smile

Hope your dad enjoyed exploring London Covent. Hooray for last week at work and all looking good on the scan. Thank you for sharing the lovely pics.

Great news that baby regular has figured out where the exit is. It did occur to me I'd be in trouble if baby penguin's sense of direction was anything like as appalling as mine Grin I hope your bp settles down again though. How exciting to have a definite date that you will get to meet your baby by!!!

Basgetti it is bloody brilliant that you seem to finally be through the sickness. Hope the cold is short-lived so you can enjoy feeling well again and Fx that baby Basgetti does a little twizzle before Tues.

Not long now ladies! Eek!!

CoventGarden75 · 21/11/2014 14:17

bye bye work Smile

Penguin13 · 21/11/2014 14:54

Woohoo Covent! Happy last day Smile Let the relaxing commence.

Made it out today for an uneventful first solo drive. Only went a few miles but quite pleased to have got that under my belt. Now just need to keep practising and eventually tackle the motorway. Eek!

Shanels · 21/11/2014 15:56

Woohoo covent :))

Well done penguin! It'll get easier from now on. My husband keeps reminding me that the motorway is much safer than normal roads. And there are only a couple of things to remember - i.e. Like stay in middle lane if there's ongoing traffic... Etc. Take a good driver that you're comfortable with you on the motorway for the first time. :) enjoy

P.s. My 37+6 week bump is attached.

MrsFtn · 21/11/2014 17:07

You sound very organised Penguin. I haven't done any freezer food this time round - I am hoping DH will have enough energy to do the cooking at least while he's on paternity leave - we'll see how that works out! Glad you've had your first solo trip in the car Smile

Shanels I was sorry to hear you've had a hospital stay - glad you are ok and out now - great bump pic!

Love your scan and wounded DH pics Covent - and a big high five for being on maternity leave now. Hope you have a chance to put you feet up.

Glad to hear baby is now the right way up (or down!) now regular. Your induction date is my DH's birthday! Hope our baby is here before then so he can be on paternity leave!

Good luck for your scan on Tues Basgetti fx baby is in the right position. Glad to hear your sickness seems to be behind you now.

I had a doppler scan yesterday and everything was fine. No more scans planned now - I had 9 in total this pg! Got a bit of a shock at the clinic apt afterwards when the Registrar said he wanted me to have a sweep there and then! I was 38+6! I said I didn't think that was necessary as I have a mw appt next Wed at 39+5 and would rather wait until then thank you very much! He also said he didn't want to let me go beyond my due date but didn't give me any explanation as to why apart from baby measuring big. I said DD was big and a week late and I had no problems so I didn't see any indication I would need to be induced so early. He eventually agreed to let me wait. I don 't think he really had a clue what he was going on about but I will speak to mw on Wed for a second opinion. My only concern is that I will have to take DD to my apt and I don't want her to witness me having a sweep! She is convinced baby is going to come out of my belly button so I dont know how I'm going to explain that one!

I've been having a few period like pains the last couple of days and I'm constantly on the look out for 'signs' of labour. I've been drinking raspberry leaf tea and eating fresh pineapple and have a hot curry planned for tonight to try and get things moving before I need a sweep. Might have to dtd with DH too which is getting quite comical now as bump is huge and low down Blush He is convinced that sex will be the key to getting things moving along but I think it's wishful thinking!

Hope you all have a great weekend - wonder if we will have a thread baby by Monday?!

39 Weeks today Smile

CoventGarden75 · 21/11/2014 17:10

well done penguin the first drive on your own is awkward if i remember correctly my experience 20 odd years ago... then it only gets better and better, it's such a useful skill to have, i hate driving though and only do it when i visit my parents Grin.

cool pic shanels, hope you're feeling better

i got some lovely presents from work, some safari wall stickers, a musical mobile, and a cute little apron for when she's older, so spoiled.

37+1

Penguin13 · 23/11/2014 10:24

Any news anyone?........After a few weeks on mat leave I feel like I am mainly just watching hawk-like for any potential signs of labour. The baby was only 1/5 engaged on Thurs (at 38+3) so it's unlikely it will be happening that soon. I think I was so concerned about making sure we were ready in case mini penguin came early that I almost feel like I am overdue even though my EDD isn't for just under a week yet. According to my own record of conception date EDD shouldn't be for another week after that so not sure why I am getting so impatient! other than painful spd making me walk like john Wayne Doesn't help that 2 out of the 3 girls from my ante-natal class who were due after me have had their babies already Envy and there are now 5 class babies in total so everywhere I look there are adorable newborns!

Lovely bump pic Shanels Smile won't be long before we are sharing baby pics!!!!

Mrs sounds like you have some promising signs! Well done for sticking to your guns on the surprise sweep which was almost sprung on you - easier said than done when faced with a medical professional. Hope one of your alternative methods works for you Grin

Covent enjoy your first 'proper' day of ML tomorrow. If you are like me you'll totally feel like you are skiving- it's great!

FranksBobot · 23/11/2014 22:07

Hello everyone!

So sorry I've been awol for so long. Had a few scary moments with baby frankette. Have been having lots of tests etc as blood pressure been up and down more than a rollercoaster and been really quite poorly with it. Turns out I've been suffering extreme silent migraines (migraine without headache apparently!) im finally starting to feel a bit more human.
Congratulations on passing your driving test Penguin. So so pleased for you!

I've got appointment with my consultant tomorrow to agree on a date for my ELCS.

Will catch up properly tomorrow, just about to sink into a bubble bath!

Shanels · 23/11/2014 23:28

Hey penguin Don't worry about how much baby is engaged as it doesn't tell you when baby is arriving. I'm 3/5 engaged and have been for a week or so but she could still pop out and turn. Some friends of mine's babies engaged last minute just before or as labour kicked in. So you may still get your early baby.
I feel the same though- am 38+1 and have decided she should be coming any minute now. Really I could go pass 40 and need to be more patient.
My last job for hospital bag is getting playlist ready on iPod etc which requires software update etc. I've been and am procrastinating.
Good night and sleep well! X

CoventGarden75 · 24/11/2014 18:47

cross post ftn, i think your DH might be right, let us know if it worked Smile

hi franks sorry to hear you've had some worries, that must have been scary. Glad all is fine in the end. How did the consultant go? have you got a date already?

penguin babies are popping out everywhere. One of the girl from the gym gave birth a couple of days ago... in 30 min! you're all so close to EDD Envy Grin

shanels if you ask me, having only a playlist to sort out for hospital bag is pretty good, mine is nowhere close to that.

technically, my ML doesn't start until 1st dec, this week i'm on holiday, today is my first day of doing nothing, and tbh, i'm getting used to it very quickly although there are still lots of things i should get sorted really. I've finally made the jump, and had a haircut, another one of those boring bob...

FranksBobot · 24/11/2014 21:36

Evening all,

Consultant appointment went stupidly well! Baby frankette will be making her grand entrance to the world on the 17th! It's all feeling very real now, have spent the day making arrangements for dd whilst I'm in the hospital and buying final items for hospital bags.
I've been switching between super happy and super teary all evening.

OP posts:
Penguin13 · 24/11/2014 21:55

How exciting Franks!! Sorry to hear you've had a scary time of it and haven't been well but very excited that you have a date to meet your baby!!!!

Thanks for the reassurance Shanels. Basically am a massive control freak so it's not easy not being able to control influence when things will happen!
Been properly tempting fate by making several trips into London in the past few days. Although I'm not sure it will make mini penguin arrive any faster, walking around in pain is somehow easier than sitting at home in pain.

Bet your bob is lovely Covent - sadly my face is too fat round to carry off such a chic style . I do love the feeling of a brand new haircut though. Glad you are settling into your leisurely lifestyle with ease Grin

basgetti · 25/11/2014 15:33

Hi all, no thread babies yet?

Sorry you've had a worrying time Franks, glad you have got a date though.

I attended clinic today, baby is in a stupid position and my pelvis is empty which can increase risk of cord prolapse so having ELCS in 16 days! I'll be 38+4. Really scared but also glad I know what's going on so I can prepare.

Hope everyone is doing well xx

regularbutpanickingabit · 26/11/2014 13:15

Hi all!
Oooh, lots of dates and plans to look forward to. How exciting!
I am absolutely knackered and feel huge now. Tummy measuring 5 weeks ahead but I have all these fibroids so not surprising.
Monitoring all ok at the moment and last gtt clear and normal. Phew.
Kids so crazy busy at school and sports do relaxing not easy but I am currently lying on my bed. Bliss!
Hope you are all well

StrawbsAndCream · 28/11/2014 10:59

Gosh so much to catch up on! Very exciting about booked inductions and plans.. Babies will be coming thick and fast before we know it Grin

Quick update from me. Had a sweep done yesterday by my consultant.. It bloody hurt!! My cervix was short, anterior and he could get a fingertip in (lush) so good signs but hasn't really done anything apart from a bit of brown gunk. Had a male student doctor in full view of my bits too, dignity well and truly gone!
Baby was measuring 7lb9 on the scan, meaning about 8.5lb at due date which may or may not be too big for me to get out on my own. I'm hoping the scans aren't very accurate and he's not actually that big yet. Had to then pop to hospital last night because he wasn't moving as much as normal.. As soon as I get on the monitor he has a party! But because it's the second time I've been in for reduced movement they've moved my midwife appt to Monday and consultant appt to Thursday instead of the week after with view to booking an induction then. So fingers crossed I'll have a baby in less than 2 weeks, we'll see!

Hope everyone is doing well.. I'm betting penguin to have the first thread baby! Sorry I haven't name checked but I'll go and have a proper read now. Lovely to see a lot of babies on the other December thread already!
