Haha glad it's not just me who is struggling with shoes already. Was thinking if I'm like this now then goodness knows what I'll be like in a few weeks!

You're a whirlwind of organisation Franks. It's inspiring Smile.

This time next week I'll be on my way to Greece - yay!

regularbutpanickingabit · 30/08/2014 08:55

Please can I have an irrational moan?!

Family-by-marriage baby announcement yesterday and they have used the girl name we love.

Dh says who cares because they all live in a different country but it means my kids' cousins would have 2 cousins with the same name. I think that's weird and like we would be unoriginal and name poachers.

I told you it was irrational!!

basgetti · 30/08/2014 09:10

Hi Franks, I'm still here! I've been posting a bit on the hyperemesis thread as I'm not doing too great, didn't want to bring everyone on this thread down with my moans! Taking lots of meds and staying out of hospital at the moment which is the best I can hope for.

Regular glad you will get extra scans so they can keep an eye on things, hopefully all will be okay. I'm with you on the name issue, that would upset me! I have my name picked, and a neighbour who is also having a girl asked me the other day what I had chosen, she is stuck for names. Rightly or wrongly I lied and said I didn't know yet, she is due before me and I didn't want her stealing it! So if you're irrational so am I!

Petty pregnancy gripe. Does anyone know where you can actually buy Maternity clothes in store? I want to be able to try the bloody things on! Went to nearby big city this week to get some maternity jeans. Tried Red Herring as they were good for me last time, but Debenhams only do it all online now. Same with M&S, Peacocks and BHS. And Mothercare and H&M only had skinny jeans in which I don't want. Grrrr! Any recommendations would be great.

24 weeks tomorrow.

CakesALot · 30/08/2014 10:01

Morning all!

So sorry you're still poorly basgetti. Keep strong. The only place I've found maternity clothes in store is new look and they have a decent selection of jeans. I've been living in a pair from there since 16 weeks (I'm 27 tomorrow) and they're holding together well. They're slim fit rather than skinny too (I have rather chunky legs!!)

I'm with you all on the feet! Painting my toe nails last weekend was interesting!!

Get you Franks! You are an inspiration! My main goal in the next few weeks is to clear all the crap out the spare room so baby cakes can actually move in there at some point.

We have a short list of names and I'm sharing them with no one! My fave name for years was stolen by my best mate and I'm still a tad paranoid my new faves will get stolen so let's all be irrational together! I also know a lot of teachers and they are the worst for saying things like "I taught someone with that name who was the anti Christ so I'd steer clear". Not helpful!!

TinyMonkey · 30/08/2014 13:37

Yeah the names thing is tricky. We're pretty much the last of our friends to reproduce and so lots of ones we might have considered have already been used - Frank, Arthur, Leo, Ursula, Eve, Louis, Daniel, Florence, Isla, Harriet, Theo - all gone. Hurumph.

We've finally agreed on a boy's name. Moderately fashionable where we live, although peak popularity seems to have passed, but also old and spelt correctly. Too many lovely girl's names to choose from though, might have to wait until we meet her (if it is a her).

Oh, seeing as I haven't posted one yet, here is my bump at 25+4. Massive basically, curses of being 4'11" I suppose

regularbutpanickingabit · 30/08/2014 14:29

Thank you for making me feel irrational but not stupid!! Names are such a minefield but I thought I was over that sort of thinking after doing it twice already!

Basgettti - so sorry you are still suffering so badly. Please don't worry about bringing us down by posting here, we are all rooting for.
Fab bump Tiny!

Penguin13 · 01/09/2014 20:21

Nice to see you Basgetti. Really sorry you're still suffering. I totally understand the need to share with people who really understand but as Regular said please don't feel like you can't come here and have a moan and a chat.

As far as mat clothes go ironically Debenhams is the only place I have found that does have stuff in store. It probably depends on the store though as I've only had success in the flagship Ox st store. I just bought some bootcut jeans from there but they are quite long in the leg.

Tiny how lovely to see your bump and I love your nautical style stop. I reckon baby has no option but to grow outwards when you're petite in stature not sure what my excuse is at 5 foot 7!

Bought a symbolic first long sleeved vest for mini penguin today. Felt quite emotional! We also have our bedside cot arriving tomorrow squee! Still feeling totally disorganised though.....

Hope you all had a lovely Monday.

TinyMonkey · 02/09/2014 10:44

Penguin! Thanks, the top was a bargain from Vertbaudet (all the rest of my order had to be sent back for looking hideous). Useful to know that Oxford St. Debenhams has stuff instore, I must waddle along as the Red Herring jeggings I've got were cheap and are very comfortable so I'll invest in another pair.

Exciting about the cot arriving, I need to sort ours out soon I think. Plus some more clothing for the wee one. I spied some adorable little cardigans in Boden yesterday, although might be slightly girly for a boy. Midwife's prediction based on heart rate yesterday is that the baby is a girl, but I'm reserving judgement!

StrawbsAndCream · 02/09/2014 19:00

Lovely bump Tiny loving the top too, I really need some more mat clothes! I did buy a 3 pack of tshirts from newlook for work as I can't fit in to my uniform anymore! Have had lots of parents saying 'thank god, I didn't want to ask even though it was obvious you are' I feel like saying 'what do you mean??' Smile

Penguin which bedside cot are you getting?? I'm leaning towards the snuzpod but don't know, also struggling to decide on how I'd like the nursery decorated, I finally found perfect wallpaper.. $165 a roll from the US, typical! It's by 'Aimee Wilder' but apparently she hasn't reached the uk yet :-( so funky too!

Ooh tiny interesting with the heartbeat, what was the bpm? Mine has a boy's heartbeat of 140-150 apparently. Only 13/14 weeks to go for us.. How an earth has that happened!

Basgetti sorry you're still my feeling well, must be awful. Hopefully you'll get a rest before the baby actually arrives x

Cakes and regular I'm with you regarding names! I really liked Ned (still do and is on our short list) but someone mentioned Ned Flanders..argh! I don't think we'll ever decide on a name anyway!

Does anyone do Facebook? I see the normal december thread have gone onto fb which I was sad about because I've lurked and read the whole time! I don't have a clue how a group on fb works though and don't know how I feel about it!

In the club tonight.. My favourite program at the moment! Hope everyone is well x

CakesALot · 02/09/2014 19:12

I'm loving in the club too strawbs. It's going some way to filling the OBEM void!

The nursery decoration is one thing we're doing ok with. My friend sent me a link to a website called Tinyme who do various baby/kid stuff but also these gorgeous wall transfers in lots of different styles. So we're going to paint it all white and add some splashes of colour with these transfers-I've bought a set of butterflies so far! I've also chosen some fabrics for curtains/cot bumper/cushions etc. which my friend is going to run up for me Smile very excited!

Anyone else got the dreaded heartburn yet? It's just come on in the last few days for me and it's rotten. Thank god for gaviscon!

CakesALot · 02/09/2014 19:14

Also, Ned is the cutest little boys name!

CoventGarden75 · 02/09/2014 20:39

Sorry, i only seem to have time for lurking recently, not much for posting.

Yeah bump time! Lovely bump tiny Smile i'll try and update with one soon.

lol franks i hope our feet are having a good time somewhere hot Wink

penguin how wonderful you're going to greece, enjoy!

thanks for reminding me about in the club strawbs and i'm in a similar situation about fb, i've stopped posting on that thread a while ago so didn't join them.

basgetti i can't believe you're still suffering, look after yourself Thanks re maternity clothes, H&M seems the only place for me.

cakes boo to heart burn, it hasn't reached me yet, but i'm burping a lot Blush

i had the 25w mw appointment this afternoon, baby juliette has been quiet recently, she probably moved being the anterior placenta Angry but mw was happy with everything. i celebrated with a swim.

babasling arrived yesterday yoo-hoo

StrawbsAndCream · 02/09/2014 23:28

Cakes I know we are technically strangers but.. I love you!! That Tinyme website is amazing.. Exactly what I've been looking for! I've been after wallpaper mainly as I hadn't seen any transfers that looked decent enough.. But omg! The hot air balloons! Ahhh Grin thank you!
Matching curtains and bedding sounds lovely I hadn't really thought of that, so nice of your friend as well. No heartburn here yet, touch wood.
I do love Ned.. It's definitely high on the list!

I think I'm on a high 'cos I'm so pleased he was actually the dad on in the club.. Haha! Even though they blatantly changed the baby at the end, and why did simon's girlfriend look at his dad like that? Hmm.

Covent don't worry I'm exactly the same, and the new mn has really thrown me, much preferred the older version! Great news on a good 25wk appt, hope you enjoyed your celebratory swim. Yay to the sling! What's it like? Still don't know which to get.

Has anyone's baby been getting hiccups? I think mine has them a few times a day and has done for about a week now, it's like a gentle twitch/pulse but can be felt from the outside.. Usually around every 2 seconds so quite fast.. Sometimes longer.. I can't think what else it could be! (Haven't been worrying about it honest)
also, a bit personal but has anyone else noticed increase in discharge? Mine seems normal colour but quite watery and i can sometimes feel it coming out (tmi) so it leaves a bit of a small damp patch which is freaking me out. And just generally feel a bit more 'damp' down there. I've had it for a while now and have been checked for waters when I had a swab done at 21 weeks but it just seems more now. Just my current worry anyway, but I've read that if it was waters leaking that it would really wet a pad or be a constant trickle which it isn't. Got consultant appt in 8 days so I can wait to ask then unless it gets much worse.

Shanels · 02/09/2014 23:35

Hi everyone
Been off work this week so spending quality time with hubby. We went to Portsmouth outlet centre today and bought little cardis and outfits for super cheap prices for our little girl. covent I love your name choice.we are still brainstorming as we can't agree.

You are all so organised and have now got me motivated for tomorrow. Need to start sorting second bedroom out- which is our wardrobe, and make it into baby's room. I also like the wall stickers which means we don't need to put wallpaper up or repaint the room. They have some lovely ones on notonthehighstreet.com.
As for matenity clothes, I ordered 5 dresses from John Lewis the other day, tried them all on and chose one for my school's party at the Oxo tower. The first time I've been out on my own since I've been pregnant cos of my breathlessness. It was lovely though.
strawbsthe Facebook group isn't my cup of tea either. I've gatecrashed this group who have kindly let me join.

Shanels · 02/09/2014 23:41

P.s. strawbs I have been wearing pads since I found out I was pregnant due to constant discharge. Yes, you can feel it and it is a little worrying at times but all the medics don't seem concerned at all. Apparently it's normal. I was looking forward to a pad-free 9 months but hey ho, mustn't grumble. However, if you feel it's too watery and excessive just pop into your day unit for reassurance. Take care.

CakesALot · 03/09/2014 09:31

You're welcome strawbs! Some great stuff on there!

Penguin13 · 03/09/2014 11:57

Snuz pod has been received and assembled! Got it yesterday and managed to put it up with minimal input from H who is languishing with a sore throat and cold. A few sweary moments trying to thread the very snugly fitting wooden poles through the canvas frame but other than that very easy though I am one of those weird souls who actually quite enjoys assembling flat pack furniture haven't tried matching it to the height of our bed yet but it looks pretty adjustable. Love the look of it, my only concern is that it is slightly small (albeit bigger than a standard bassinet) so I imagine it could get grown out of fairly quickly. Depends whether mini penguin gets my genes as Mr Penguin is a few inches shorter than me Grin

Love the Tinyme stuff cakes. I've been dithering a bit on decor. My problem is not being able to choose between all the lovely stuff available. It's fun looking though. I love all the wall stickers available now they are such a great way to transform a room. It does make it slightly trickier being team yellow purely because most sites seem to so strongly decide what is 'boy' stuff and what is 'girls'. I mean. ...girls animals? Really? Surely they work for both?! I also think mini penguin is going to be wearing a lot of cream and beige for the first few weeks! My mum is knitting a couple of cardis for us though which I am really excited about.

I have sling envy Covent. Must get onto that.....

Shanels · 03/09/2014 12:12

Oh penguin I just looked up snuzpod and it looks great. I was looking at a Bednest one for £299 which is supposed to last 6 months but a bit pricey. Exciting that you have it all up and ready- well done to you!

TinyMonkey · 03/09/2014 13:46

You can rent the bednest via NCT for £99 for 6 months I think Shanels, which is the route we're considering. We've been offered about 3 full size cots, so hoping that after 6 months the baby will look big enough to go into one. I do like the look of the Snuzpod too though (and I like flatpack as well penguin, you are not alone!)

I've been added to the December fb group, it's very busy, lots of chatting, I can't really keep up, but nice to put faces to names. Nothing to stop us setting up our own of course. If you want to be added Strawbs, I would post on the thread and they'll make it searchable for a brief time.

Also, thank you for introducing me to Aimee Wilder! There are about 12 wallpaper designs I am now coveting, such great stuff, hope she makes it over here soon.

More discharge? Yep. Now wearing liners. Heartburn? A bit. I'm on a couple of swigs of Gaviscon a day.

Ned's a great name, but heh at Ned Flanders. Edward/Edwin/Theodore are all on our prospective names list. We've really struggled with boys names, finally thought we'd agreed on Oscar, only for my dad to say...oh, it makes me think of 'Pistorious'. Thanks dad. Back to the drawing board. I won't be sharing any other names with anyone until the baby is safely registered!

Gap have a few nice winter maternity dresses online now, I think they have a 40% coming up in the next couple of days, so I may treat myself, shoes still posing an issue. Need to be soft, slip-on and supportive, not things I normally look for in a shoe. Oh and I need some decent maternity tights too.

Team yellow clothing...I'm going for stripes, primary colours and white.

Basgetti, I really hope that you're not feeling too rubbish, take care.

Penguin, have a lovely relaxing holiday.

CakesALot · 03/09/2014 15:46

Nice one, penguin! Good work! I'm a fan of flat pack too, or rather hollering the instructions to mr cakes whilst he does the hard work!

I wouldn't say I've had an increase in discharge recently but I have had rather a lot throughout pregnancy and it goes high on my list of 'things no one told me about pregnancy'. I've been using liners the whole way through.

We're off to our first antenatal class tonight. We went for the NCT ones, mainly because I want to make some new mum friends who live nearby. My SIL is still friends with her NCT mates 7 years later! Something to splash out on for our first pregnancy I guess! The timings clash with bake off so it'd better be worth it!

basgetti · 03/09/2014 19:40

Hi all, I'm doing okay today. No vomit for 2 days! Although having to take meds like clockwork to achieve this. Yes to heartburn though, have a big bottle of gaviscon by the bed. And lots of back and pelvic pain, anyone else?

Cakes thanks for the New Look recommendation, I went back into Norwich today, the ghost town of maternity clothes, and found some lovely bootcut jeans in there and they were reduced to £6! Got a few bits and really pleased to actually have some clothes that fit now. Not having to wear baggy tracksuit bottoms everyday will be nice.

Tiny lovely bump pic, I'm also very short and my bump is similar in shape to yours.

All the names mentioned are lovely. Edward is a great name, though I may be biased as it's my DS' name! (Known as Eddie). We rarely meet another one so it's not overly common either.

Hope everyone is doing well x

CakesALot · 03/09/2014 21:59

Glad you found some clothes basgetti. Retail therapy can do wonders!

I still have pelvic pain, getting no worse or better. I've had a phone consultation with a physio and as I'm still able to get about ok despite the pains, she's initially sending me some info on exercises to try out for a couple of weeks. I'm to call them back if it gets worse or there's no improvement and I'll go in for treatment. Definite worth mentioning to your midwife and getting in there now with some exercises.

Antenatal class was lovely. Really nice, non patronising instructor and some lovely friendly people too. Looking forward to the rest of the course now

TinyMonkey · 04/09/2014 11:58

Good stuff on the antenatal class Cakes. Ours don't start for ages, suspect I may have given birth before the last class on 27/11 if I'm induced as they're threatening!

My mw did me a physio referral on Monday, although sleeping with a cushion between my knees has made a slight improvement to how it all feels during the day, and I'm being very careful to keep my legs together when I get in and out of bed and the car. Hopefully I can manage another 14 weeks of it.
