Oh and for beds we are looking at the bednest and Troll mainly. The bednest is a lot of money for not very much use but am tempted as resale values on ebay seem pretty good. I do like the troll but prefer the design of the side of the bednest - seems like it would be easier to operate at bleary o'clock!

CoventGarden75 · 20/08/2014 11:55

Great bump strawbs

A bit jealous of all your successful shopping trips! We need to get a grip here, nothing sorted —and barely discussed—. I might use my mum when she’s here in 3 weeks, but scared she will get carried away (she’s a shopper, I’m not and thinking of lots of 2nd hand stuff)

Rant of the week: I was awake most of the night again, on hols this week so was looking forward to a lie in but was woken up my phone / door bell / BT engineer coming to fix broad band before 8am. Plus went to work Mon morning to cover a sickie, and off to Germany tomorrow at stupid o’clock for the weekend. I’d better give up on the idea of sleeping ever again. Cold is on the way out but still not ready to go for a swim :(

Glad I got the cleaning out of the way yesterday, leaving the flat to friends for the weekend is always a good incentive for a once over.

Also very emotional, i cried my eyes out watching 2nd episode of In The Club.

Planning on taking ML on 1st Dec, and a week holiday before that, so last day of work would be 21st Nov, with EDD 11 Dec. I’m lucky to only have a 15 min walk commute.

We saw kicks from the outside a few days ago Grin.

CakesALot · 20/08/2014 12:02

Yay to kicks from the outside covent! I managed to film some on my phone the other day! Glad the cold is leaving too but boo to disturbed sleep, that ain't on! I always say I need visitors to come round regularly as it's the only thing that makes me get off my arse and clean! Not had anyone round for a while...ahem!!

Midwife appt went well. I got measured and am bang on for my dates. Heartbeat was loud and clear if a little fast but she was moving at the time. I also pointed out I'd had jammy toast for breakfast so we agreed she was on a sugar high!! I've been given the physio number and I can self refer if the pelvic continues which is good. I'm starting aquanatal classes next week so that might help too, really wanted to do yoga but I can't find anywhere local that I can fit around work etc. Whooping cough jab booked too for the same day as next midwife appt. It's all happening now!

Hope everyone is well x

FranksBobot · 20/08/2014 19:03

Evening all! Just realised its Wednesday which means it's OBEM night.
I'm in a pushchair dilemma. I drive a very small car with an almost non existant boot therefore should probably buy a compact pram. However DP car is huge with stupidly big boot so would hold a much bigger pram. Technically if the pram needs to go in my car it will only be me and maximum of both the kids so I could fold a seat down if needs must!
Argh this is me trying to justify buying the pram I have fallen in love with that probably will not fit in my boot. DP has taken a step back and just wants to know which one he has to pay for. Grin
Anyhoo the evil pains have passed tmi but turns out to be a bad case of trapped wind Blush.
Will turn laptop on later to have a proper catch up with you all, not keen on this new mobile site. I get confused easily Confused

FranksBobot · 20/08/2014 21:00

Arghhhhhhhhhh what's happened to OBEM? How did I not know it had ended? Mortified.

Penguin13 · 20/08/2014 21:19

Oh dear god. I just cried at a dolphin happily swimming around with its new prosthetic tail fluke. In my defence it looked really happy! not 100% convinced I can blame this solely on hormones Blush

Glad you're feeling a bit better Franks - trapped wind can be really painful!

Glad your mw appointment went well cakes. Get you and your textbook growth grin Am a bit scared about what mw will say at my appointment next week - am expecting something along the lines of 'stop eating all the pies'. Eep.

Penguin13 · 20/08/2014 21:20

Doh I meant Grin not grin.

CoventGarden75 · 21/08/2014 06:43

cakes how lovely you caught it on video Smile

franks glad it wasn't anything serious, I feel your pain tho, i was crazy bloated a couple of days ago and so happy not to be at work!

penguin dolphin story does sound pretty emotive Grin

Sitting on the Eurostar, ready to go after a few days rest at home, it felt a bit of a waste of holidays but I guess I needed some time off doing nothing.

Do I really need a travel system, is a sling not enough? In London with no car.

FranksBobot · 21/08/2014 09:15

Covent you probably wouldn't need a full travel system. Especially if you are happy using a sling. Unfortunately due to a shoulder injury followed by an operation I can't use them for long as the weight gets too much. You'll only need a car seat if you plan on going in someone else's car at some point. Check the rules but I think travelling by taxi is the only exception. If you are happy using a sling maybe just buy a smaller stroller style pushchair for when baby is a little older. Most are suitable from 6 months. No point spending hundreds if you aren't going to use it.

Is time passing super quick for everyone else now too? I can't quite believe it. Saw a thread for due in April yesterday and thought that's not possible I'm only just pregnant!! Crazy times ladies!

OP posts:
CoventGarden75 · 22/08/2014 19:33

Thanks for the advice franks, it's the plan: start with a sling and we'll see how it goes, then a small light pushchair (flat on the 3rd floor, no space). I'm also getting a 2nd hand car seat from a friend living next to my parents.
What happened to your shoulder?
Belly has suddenly grown massive, if it was only the belly Confused time for new clothes soon, struggling with temperature drop.
Can't decide if time goes too fast (nothing sorted) or too slow, I want her here in my arms Smile.
Have a great weekend all.

StrawbsAndCream · 24/08/2014 00:48

It's going quite quick for me franks but I'd still prefer to be atleast 30 weeks! I'd like to get comfortably in the 'if for some reason he's born he'll be ok' zone! Silly I know!

I saw that thread too, crazy! I think if someone were to get a BFP today they'd be due in May now Shock

covent I'm struggling too, and my skinny mat jeans just aren't as comfy now my belly is bigger, I think I'll invest in a new pair! Do you have an idea of what sling you'll get?

Baby Strawbs has been doing some alien things today, I had my hand resting on the side of my stomach in bed and I think it was a foot (felt long and hard) that pushed right out and scraped across me all up my side! Combined with a head/bottom trying to push it's way out under my belly button, I have to rub it gently for it to go back in.. Strangest feeling in the world, but lovely!

penguin I hope you've got over the traumatic prosthetic tailed dolphin! Grin I'd have cried too if it makes you feel better, I'm hopeless with animals! I cried in work at one of my work mates on the phone to her mum thanking her for something yesterday, such a wet blanket.
Oh penguin I've joined the icandy peach 2 club! I bought ours today from ebay as well, I'll put a pic on. Such a good saving and it's immaculate, can't wait for it to arrive. Has yours?
Hope everyone is having a good weekend too and not working on BH Monday (I'm not for the first time in years!)

The shiny new Pregnant after MC due December 2014 thread #2
Shanels · 26/08/2014 04:06

Hi all
I was looking for thread 7 of the December lot and came across urs. I wonder if I could join if you don't mind? There are a couple of familiar names. #sleeplessat3am

CoventGarden75 · 26/08/2014 13:51

Welcome shanels how are things with you?

I just got back from Germany yesterday, so trying to catch up with work, workout, friends and family.

strawbs isn't lovely to feel him move? Baby Juliette went quiet for a couple of days so I worried then one night she started moving like never before Grin a bit like the alien you described.

a friend kindly offered to get me a sling so we had a look this morning I decided I deserved a late start at work after the holiday and settled on the karma baby organic, then realised they are only available in the US, so she'll get one from there Smile. Another friend delivered lots of baby clothes to my parents, shame they're so far away, but hopefully mum will bring me the essentials in a couple of weeks. I also looked at lightweight buggies, very attracted to the mclaren volo at only 4kg.

How's everyone?

24+5

Penguin13 · 26/08/2014 18:31

Hi Shanels and welcome. I hope that your sleeplessness is short - lived. How many weeks are you?

I'm 26 weeks today and, just for a change, feeling massive! Totally on the same page re skinny jeans Strawbs although embarrassingly it seems to be my thighs not my tummy which have grown too big Blush

That is a great colour peach 2 Strawbs and looks in excellent condition. Ours is boring classic black but at least it will hide the dirt Smile We got ours the day we bought it as it was collection only - got ridiculously giddy and excited putting it up and down and practising pushing it around though just stopped short of taking the cat for a spin!

So exciting about your sling Covent and how lovely of your friend. I really want one but not sure which to get. I reckon it will be so useful for when you don't want to faff with a pram and for round the house when you need your hands free I have in no way been influenced by youtube vids of ridiculously cute newborns snuggled in their wraps

Two of my SILs rave about their maclaren pushchairs but I'm not sure what models they have. They seem to be the go to brand for lightweight.

Hope everyone is feeling good.

FranksBobot · 26/08/2014 18:46

Hi all, Welcome Shanels

I'm struggling with the temperature drop too Covent DD will be back at school soon and I no longer fit in any of my coats so may have to go shopping too.

I adore that colour Strawbs lovely pushchair. Penguin I'm sure the cat wouldn't have minded going for a spin! Although if anything like my old cat, it would then see the pram as its own!

For those still looking at slings if you are on facebook have a look at Victoria the Slinglady. I know a quite a few people who have used her slings and recommend them highly. I'm tempted to get one for my shoulders good days.

Baby Frankette had a quiet day yesterday and not much movement this morning but has now woken up and throwing some sort of party in there. We bought first item of clothing last week! A little sister babygrow that DD chose. I also ordered my pram. This weekend we are off on a big shopping trip to get the crib, bedding and bouncer chair thingy. DP gets his august bonus on friday so we want to get the rest of the main bits whilst we can. I'm actually feeling rather organised so hoping to try and get some of the dreaded C word shopping done soon too.

23 weeks tomorrow Grin

Shanels · 26/08/2014 19:32

Hi coventgarden! I'm doing okay- have had some health problems but can't complain. My main thing is my breathlessness at the mo. I'm really enjoying the kicks too.

Hey penguin I'm 25+3 and have suddenly started growing. Have 2 H&Ms maternity trousers that I'm alternating between and buying as I get bigger. Determined not to spend to much on maternity clothes. No skinny jeans though- too uncomfortable for me.

Thanks Franksbot we just put the heating on!

I've started buying baby grows and vests but only if they are in the sale. I don't know if you have already talked about this before but I'm thinking of getting a crib for her as a cot won't fit in our bedroom. I've heard that moses baskets aren't great , plus I'm hoping to get a pram with a carry cot which I could use indoors too.

Good evening to all!

FranksBobot · 27/08/2014 04:51

Shanels we are getting a crib as they do last a little longer than a Moses basket. Personally I don't like putting tiny babies in huge cots straight away. No idea why just not keen on it. Dd had a crib (borrowed hence new one this time!) and slept mainly in either her bouncer chair or pram carry cot downstairs during the day.

TinyMonkey · 27/08/2014 10:46

Hi all. Hope everyone is well.

Just had a really relaxing week in in the South of France (well apart from the 48 hrs when I convinced myself that the baby hadn't moved and had a complete freak out). Back at work, but only for 11 and a half weeks!

The baby is moving loads now, and I can see it from the outside at last and MrTM can feel it too. It's so, so lovely. It was the 3rd anniversary of meeting him yesterday as well, so I'm wafting around on a fluffy cloud of loveliness and counting my blessings. Never ever thought I'd be in this position a few years ago.

Only slight rubbishness is my pelvis, I think I have the beginnings of SPD/PGP, but it comes and goes and is a minor whinge in the grand scheme of things.

We're renting a bednest from NCT I think. I am lazy and like the idea of just being able to reach an arm across to the baby, won't be bothering with a proper cot until it outgrows the nest. We may get a cheap moses basket for downstairs, or just use the bassinet from the Uppababy.

I'm having dinner with my ex tonight and looking forward to his jaw dropping when he sees my bump! Haven't seen him since last year, when he told me that he and his partner were expecting, so looking forward to hearing all about their first year and picking up some baby wrangling tips.

CakesALot · 27/08/2014 15:59

Hi all! Welcome shanels Smile

Look at everyone getting organised and buying stuff! I'm 26+3 today and can't believe how it's flying. Baby cakes is regularly busy and bouncing around my insides now!

My SIL dropped off 2 enormous bags of clothes today, from newborn up to 12 months so I've had a lovely afternoon sorting through it all Smile

Tiny, I'm definitely suffering with PGP/SPD type pains across my pelvic bone. Going to get myself booked into physio to pick up some exercises. Should've rang them by now but we've been away for a long weekend and I've been distracted! Pain is fairly mild but constant now, worse if I've been sat or lying down for a while, it takes me a while to get moving again!

Hope everyone is well Smile

regularbutpanickingabit · 27/08/2014 18:09

I lost you all again!! How is everyone? Can't believe we are hitting the 6 month/viable mark already. Woohoo!

We had a fantastic holiday but back to the grindstone now.

Slight blip for me is they have found a 'notch' in the artery flow on the left side of my placenta which could mean the baby doesn't get enough nutrition which could slow down growth/lead to pre-eclampsia/cause problems.

The good news is that it is only on one side and at the moment the baby is spot on for dates.

I will just need close monitoring and 4 weekly scans. I am already on all the blood-thinning and blood pressure medicine I can take.

I think it is just a case of wait and see.

Sorry for disappearing and hhope you are all well!

CoventGarden75 · 27/08/2014 22:09

regular annoying blip but so far so good, and it looks like you're being well monitored, when is your next scan?

sorry to hear about your pelvis pain tiny and cakes

happy to read about all the happy parties and kicks, I smiled like an idiot every time i feel her move Grin Grin Grin

Change of plan, we've dropped the karma baby sling and went for the babasling, which is adjustable, i don't want to do all the carrying DP to miss out on carrying baby. Planning on just getting a cot, and sleeping in baby's room at the beginning then move out when i am she is ready.

Just tried my winter coat, and well it's not gonna fit for very long, crossing fingers we'll have a mild winter, otherwise will have to borrow DP's stuff.

Now, is it just me, or are you also finding it difficult to adjust to your new size? I keep forgetting and keep bumping into things.

regularbutpanickingabit · 28/08/2014 07:34

Yes! Spatial awareness has never been my string point but it is getting ridiculous!

My next scan is on 23 Sept, but I see the consultant the week before and might get a sneaky 30 sec one then if we are on the right room.

Penguin13 · 28/08/2014 07:42

Yep my winter coat already doesn't fit me Covent ditto rain jacket! I read somewhere that there is a coat you can get (possibly at jojo maman) that has an additional panel that zips or buttons in so it can convert to non -maternity when you're done so I might try to track that down.

I always bump into things but I do seem especially clumsy of late. I have the door handle shaped bruise on my bum to prove it - that one hurt!

Hi regular. Sorry to hear about the blip but it's good they know about it and are monitoring/treating you. I'm impressed with how you're handling it too, you have a great positive attitude. Glad baby is doing well for dates so far.

Mw appointment today - must remember to ask about the vaccinations. Have a bit of baby brain at the moment. I inexplicably addressed my brother in law's birthday card with my surname instead of his the other day......

Sorry about the PGP pain Tiny and Cakes. Probably good that you get some advice/ treatment early on to stop it getting too severe hopefully.

CoventGarden75 · 29/08/2014 22:09

Where are my feet Confused?

FranksBobot · 29/08/2014 22:53

I wonder if they've buggered off with mine for a holiday covent! I reckon I saw a toe earlier but can't be sure. Can't comfortably put socks on anymore so I'm going to have freezing toes this winter.

I'm no longer in denial, in fact I am now on a lets get organised mission. My pram arrived earlier in the week and I loves it! Had it out the box to have a good play and figure it all out. Ordered crib & mattress today. Finished getting DD uniform for Thursday, the little sod has had a major growth spurt over the 6 weeks hols. Off to town tomorrow to invest in a pair of weatherproof shoes that I can slip on and off with ease thanks to said disappearing feet! Might try and find a coat too.

Hope everyone is well, that includes you basgetti if you are still floating around somewhere. I hope you are being good and listening to doctors orders Thanks
