Hope those who've had minor bleeds are doing ok today! I had one at 10 weeks, luckily was nothing but it's still quite jarring.

Feeling rough today, awful night last night. Couldn't move thanks to vile nausea - the worst it's been for a couple of weeks. This is now 14+3. I'm starting to worry it's going the distance or am I just thinking too negatively?

donkir that sounds like what I've had all the way through as well. Apart from a heavier brown bleed at 6 weeks I've not worried too much as it seems to just be normal for me. My Mum and sisters spotted there way through their pregnancies with no issues so I guess it runs in our family. My mum bleed so heavily with me she always said she thought that she'd lost my twin.

Just had my low risk for Down's letter through. What a relief. Grin

ballarsepoobum
Have spent the last couple of weeks trying to persuade the Mr that shared parental leave is a good thing, so he'll do a couple of months of paternity leave, and now I find that the new leave regulations don't come into force until April 2015.

Just thought it'd be really positive for him to have to spend some alone time with the new baby, rather than being one of these dads that are too scared to take care of their child (and i know a few of those), plus it appeals to what I assume are indignant feminist principles that I've only just realised I have!

I know there's regulations in place currently to allow guys to take paternity leave, but they're nowhere near as flexible as the new ones will be :( :(

Grinningcat · 19/08/2014 13:56

For the same reasons Bangles my hope is that once my maternity leave is over and I return to work part time, DH can go down to 4 days a week. Then he gets to regularly take care of our child and we save a day on child care. Plus he hates his work, while I like mine.

BanglesSpangles · 19/08/2014 16:15

ooh do you think his work will be up for that, grinning? That sounds like a nice compromise

Has he broached the subject yet, or will you wait until a bit closer to the time?

Grinningcat · 19/08/2014 16:26

Not sure if they will go for it, but I think its definitely worth asking. They can only say no Wink. He works in a small plumbing shop. They aren't very busy on Fridays and they would probably save the deliveries he does for the other 4 days. Mind you his boss is a bit funny about leave. DH has to go to hospital regularly for his crohns treatment and is taking annual leave rather than asking for sick days, and he still hasn't asked them if he can have the time to come to the 20 week scan with me. Don't even get me on the subject of him asking to take paternity leave! Angry Mind you DH is talking about looking for a different job so who knows?

BanglesSpangles · 19/08/2014 16:34

wowzers- that sounds so unfair that he has to take leave for hospital appointments.

I really do count my lucky stars that my boss is lovely, and very accommodating- just hope she's not going to balk too much when I broach the subject of doing some of my work from home post-mat leave!

hazzerw · 19/08/2014 17:31

Congrats Grinning, such a relief!

Thanks for all the good luck peeps, was all fine today, in and out of hospital in an hour with a nothing to worry about.

Bangles I'm going to try for some WFH too but my place is particularly bad for it.. V annoying.. It's such a good idea isn't it? Good for us and good for them etc.

Just discovered how to bold names! Slow, me? Wink

Memphisbelly · 19/08/2014 17:35

Remember regsrding Paternity you need to apply to have paternity leave by 25 weeks pg.
Regarding new paternity measures as babies are die feb and new guidelines change in April can you still not do that as baby will only be 4-8 weeks old?
Dh will have one week paternity then one week holiday as pay is so rubbish on paternity then as weather will probaby be icy he can't work in ice so will hopefully get some ice days at home

Memphisbelly · 19/08/2014 18:51

I also bought some nappies today! I am 17 weeks today, people are starting to say it is flying by but its now dragging again in build up to scan in 3 weeks I am desperate to see what we are having, I bet it will be all coy so we wont be able to tell! Grin

JacktheLab · 19/08/2014 19:38

Evening all, i just had to dash into morrisons to use the loo before it was too late Shock

The glamour of being pregnant!

My dh suggested that we share maternity leave, I told him not a chance! No more babies for me after this one so im taking as much leave as I can this time Wink

Memphisbelly · 19/08/2014 19:44

Jack sounds like a plan regarding maternity leave.

I spoke to fil on Sunday about finishing work and when I will go back, I said I cannot do Tuesdays once baby arrives but will be back on thursdays and saturdays as soon as I can walk with my legs together, he said he retires in Nov so would have baby, he clearly hadn't thought it through, I said what a 4 week old baby? He didn't hold ds until he was 4 months old, has never changed a nappy or given a bottle not even to his own children! Grin

Feeling lots of bubbly flutterings today. Also missng dh too....will want to kill him by the end of the long weekend no doubt!

freneticfox · 19/08/2014 20:20

Had my consultant appointment today, he's happy that I don't need to be considered high risk anymore so I've been switched to midwife-led care. This is good I assume, so pleased with that at least.

Another rough evening despite napping and taking ondansetron. So yeah. Tad low and tearful.

BanglesSpangles · 19/08/2014 20:43

memphis after far too much searching on line, i found out the new guidelines will only apply for babies born after 5th april. Am hoping his work might take pity seeing as we're so close to the new date!

BanglesSpangles · 19/08/2014 20:45

And hoorah for frenetic and the switch to midwife led care- gotta be a good thing!

LittleMissSunshine33 · 19/08/2014 20:48

Hoping ladies with bleeding are ok!

I am lucky my OH can work from home so he will take his paid week paternity then have a week 'working from home' but my wonder is when should I stop work?! I think I'd like to go to the end of January but it's hard not knowing how I'm going to feel!

I got given a nearly new dream genii pillow today, bouncer and toys has made me more excited! I don't know about anyone else but there is a small part of me not letting myself get too excited?!! Blush

Memphisbelly · 19/08/2014 21:16

Bangles what a shame.

Littlemiss yes I am the same this time around, I don't think I will relax until 24 weeks ish this time for some reason.
I am working the 3 days I do until at least xmas then I may drop the one day I do alone (im due 27th Jan) in New year as If anything happened I would be an hour from home and need to pack up stock and lock up. But I worked until due date last time when working with someone so thats my plan this time too.

JacktheLab · 19/08/2014 22:16

I'm taking the whole of next year off, starting my leave on the first working day of jan, hoping for a good long break at home before the baby comes Wink

Bimberley · 20/08/2014 08:27

Morning all!
Bleeding has subsided here. Think it was from DTD. Ive put DH on a ban for a couple of weeks.
Feeling definite kicks this morning! 17 weeks tomorrow. Four weeks until my 20 week scan.
I had SPD with my youngest and its started to feel as though its going to come back. I can no longer sit with my legs crossed! And fast movements hurt.

Thats good news Frenetic about moving to midwife les care :)

Memphisbelly · 20/08/2014 08:49

I have woken up this morning with a hard ball (size of a small melon) in my belly, must me the uterus but so odd that yesterday it wasn't like it and mow it is like stone!

Grinningcat · 20/08/2014 08:58

Good news about the bleeding Bimberley.

I plan to take the whole year off. I'm thinking about starting it a couple of weeks before with a week of leave before that so I will finish at the end of Jan. I am saving some of my leave so I can go down to 4 day weeks through December and January so I can get things done before I get too big. This is my first so it's a bit difficult to predict how I'm going to feel. I'm lucky my work, manager, and colleagues are very understanding despite my team reducing appearing to drop like flies with pregnancy. Out of 55 there are 3 on maternity with myself and one other who are pregnant and that's just who I know about.

thingsarelookingup · 20/08/2014 10:11

Hi all. I have been absent for a few days. Even though I'm off work for the summer holidays I'm still finding it hard to find the time to post some days.

I think I might have told ds a little too early about the baby. He asks pretty much every day now if it is ready to come out now. Smile Oops.

Really glad to hear the bleeding is ok bimberley, it must have been a bit of a scare. Hope everything works out with your colleagues frenetic. I don't really get why people get so worked up about things that really have nothing to do with them. Very immature of them.

JacktheLab · 20/08/2014 12:13

Just booked a gender scan for a week on Saturday! Let's hope baby plays ball Wink

Bimberley · 20/08/2014 12:49

So tempted jackthelab to do the same! Ive got four weeks until my 20 week scan!
Can't wait to hear what everyone is having :)

JacktheLab · 20/08/2014 13:16

Yeah I've got five weeks till my 20 week scan too long for me!

Dh and I really want a girl so I think if it's a boy we need to get used to the idea! We have all of ds's clothes so it would save a bunch of cash, but a little girl would be lovely too Grin

Only 37 quid in Glasgow if anyone else is local Wink
