Frenetic, good luck today, I hope HR sort out everything for you.

I have a new consultant today at 11 wondering what they will say/what they are going to suggest for labout etc.

Bangonthedoor · 18/08/2014 10:58

Good luck frenetic Thanks

And to you memphis for your consultant appointment. Let us know how you get on. I've got one on 2nd sept and not quite sure what they'll suggest.

Well DD and I have been for a walk along the beach this morning in an attempt to make her tired enough for a nap today. But we collected some heart (ish) shaped stones to paint later, so that will be our afternoon.

donkir · 18/08/2014 11:21

Hope all goes well with frenetic and Memphis sending positive vibes your way.
Grandad took the baby news well and even phoned yesterday to say how lovely my OH was which is a great big bonus as grandad rarely likes anyone.
I have first consultant app on Thursday but lost the letter. Think I have to take urine sample anyone else had to do this for consultant?

Bimberley · 18/08/2014 12:04

Yes ive always had to take urine sample to consultant.
My appoinment with mine isn't until 2nd october.
Apart from the heartburn and small bump I really dont feel pregnant at the moment.
Will become real again when start feeling movement. I have had nothing really. Its also going really quick for me at the moment!

Hows everyone feeling?

I've just had a massive clear out, going to have lunch then go for a long walk with DC to wear them out!

Grinningcat · 18/08/2014 12:55

Feeling absolutely exhausted. You wouldn't believe that I did virtually nothing but rest over the weekend. Otherwise I'm much better regarding all other symptoms Smile. Just wish I had some energy. This is worse than when I had glandular fever 4 years ago.

HerRoyalNotness · 18/08/2014 13:21

I hope today goes well for you frenetic and HR can sort it out for you. It must be horrible. I'm hating my job right now, but the work rather than the people, I have to stick it out as well, and consider coming back after mat leave if I can't find something else, argh... DH keeps telling me not to burn my bridges

Top tip, sushi is disgusting the next morning when it comes up again as you can imagine. That's off the menu for the next 6mths! Envy

We took the DSs to see Ninja Turtles on Saturday, good film, they loved it. Yesterday we trawled around a mall getting DS1 sorted for school clothes - no uniform at his new one, lunch at rainforest cafe, bleurgh. A nice thing was I went into a maternity store to check out some bits, they were so lovely! They had a fridge full of drinks that they offered, and gave me a sample pack from sponsors, it had cards in it for basically a free nursing cover, breastfeeding pillow, car seat cover and a sling! Also a sample of baby food from beech nut, and an avent bottle. I signed up for a monthly magazine for $2.99 which has loads of coupons in them as well. The DSs were so knackered they fell asleep on the way to get groceries. I had a moment of, how on earth am I going to fit 3 tired DC in the trolley! No online shopping here for food.

Off to see the specialist this morning for genetic disorder tests and the DS test, also I can find out through blood test if it's a boy or a girl. I think I will, get it out of the way now, and then I can paint the spare room accordingly and start trying to figure out names. I keep thinking of Boys names, but none of them are as nice, to me, as my DSs, this is going to be hard.

Memphisbelly · 18/08/2014 15:30

Donkir that is lovely about your grandad!
Regarding urine sample our unit has a box of sample bottles when you go in to take one in with you. Its the norm here to take one even if they may not ask for it.

Came out feeling very positive.
I had been told this hospital don't do mobile epidurals but she told me they do! They discussed my previous PND and the birth, she said most second births are quicker than the first and there is no extra risk of me needing forceps because I had them in the past.
I am booked in to see her again at 32 weeks and having a scan then too. They are refering me to the blood clinic about the injections, she was happy that I want to try vaginal birth again as she was expecting me to request a c section, she said I could have had one if I wanted because of my illness, just made me feel safe and reassured which is what I needed.
I have also lost more weight, I remarked how I can weigh less than I have in 10 years yet my pants spend half of their life up my backside, she said the bump pushes the front down making the back want to ride up so I went to M & S and bought a load of new ones Grin
Then went to Mothercare and bought maternity swimwear and ds walked around picking up things he wanted for the baby, if he got his way I would be very poor as he wanted mobiles, rocking moses basket stand, blankets, bibs, bowls, dummies, bottles with London buses on and most of the baby clothing dept GrinShock

Bangonthedoor · 18/08/2014 15:52

That sounds really positive memphis glad you're pleased.

I'm going to try and get my consultant to agree to not let me go over by giving me a s&s from 39 weeks - fingers crossed!

freneticfox · 18/08/2014 15:52

Well I think everything went ok. Going to have a meeting with the person that caused the trouble to see if it can be nipped in the bud without taking things further, so we'll say. I finally felt as though people were listening to me though. Funny how all you have to do is say 'discrimination' to be taken seriously. Cried a lot of damned tears over this, would be nice to move on.

Pregnancy wise I'm shattered. 14+2 today, still waiting for the glow fairy to get her skates on. Didn't feel hugely nauseated last night, so that's a plus. Got my first consultant appointment tomorrow (under consultant-led care). I'm really nervous, I have no idea what to expect and DH may not be able to get the time out of work to come with me :/

OP posts:
Memphisbelly · 18/08/2014 15:59

Frenetic glad it went ok, you are right pregnancy discrimination are two words enough to scare most companies to back track on anything because they know they will lose if it turned into a battle!

Bangon I was thinking about asking consultant next time about being induced a week early (I am that desperate not to. Share my bday with the babyGrin) the final month was a huge strain on my hesrt last time so it is a possiblity but I won't get my hopes up.

Also got given a massive bounty pack in there, she said it comes with more than the ones you get from Boots it had a baby cuddle towel, full size anti back wipes, pens, quite a few of the cussions mum to be stuff including stretch mark oil, cream and bubble bath amongst others, two different sudocrems....then shexdidnt come back to collect the imfo card with my details on so its a double bonus because I wont be swa,ped with emails

freneticfox · 18/08/2014 16:16

Memphis I got a bounty pack from Boots last week and I was actually offended - it was stuffed with washing powder/liquid tabs, Dettol surface wipes and leaflets for weight loss clubs. Only thing of use was a small (and I mean TINY) tub of Sudocrem. Yours sounds much better!

BanglesSpangles · 18/08/2014 16:56

Afternoon all
Memphis and frenetic- so glad you both had positive days

In spite of being against the idea of the pushy bounty women on the wards, i really do like free stuff, so want to get me one of these packs, even if it is a load of crap. Read that the emmas diary ones are pretty good too (and you get three of those!), although along the same lines of basically sending you loads of junk mail. I am an absolute sucker and would be delighted with free dishwasher tablet samples!

Memphisbelly · 18/08/2014 17:08

Bangles, After last time I just changed a letter in my email so I wouldn't get them but then she didn't collect the card (think she was expecting us to be waiting a lot longer to go in. Last time I got a voucher for 3d scan in it so we saved about £60 on that.

Bangonthedoor · 18/08/2014 17:34

How strange, I got my bounty pack from boots which had loads in, it had a towel, cussions bits like the bubble bath etc, pens, dettol wipes, washing tablets, loads of tena panty liner samples, sample nappy, sudocreme etc. It seems they just put whatever they fancy in at the time!

Memphisbelly · 18/08/2014 17:39

I heard a woman say all she got in hers from Boots was mini sudocrem, a non bio sample and vouchers, nothing else! i am yet to collect mine from boots, may as well get two and compare whats in it Grin

GeekyHybrid · 18/08/2014 18:28

Glad it went well today frenetic and Memphis. Not a lot to report here except that I'm struggling to get through my to-do list before we head off on holiday / honeymoon. grinning cat I know what you mean about resting all weekend but still being exhausted. I was in bed by 7.30 on Friday and had naps both Saturday and Sunday but I'm still knackered. Only 5 days until holiday :-D

HerRoyalNotness · 18/08/2014 19:15

frenetic good to hear you are getting some action

memphis your DS sounds sweet. Mine tried to buy something for the baby yesterday too, but I told them to wait until we know the sex. So lovely of them to be thinking about it in real terms already.

Geeky so jealous of your vacation, we only managed a miserly week this year, and didn't get one at all last year, bahumbug.

So consultant says I have a tipped uterus, and redated me to 14w+1d, previous measurements would be 13w+3d. She wondered why no one had talked about my uterus position before, and said if it doesn't flip into position in the next couple of weeks, I will start having trouble peeing. I've already started actually, but dismissed it as maybe an infection, or holding on too long. Has anyone else had this? Did it right itself? I don't fancy going to A&E to get a catheter in. Particularly in the next few weeks, DH is going off to Oz for work, argh!

Memphisbelly · 18/08/2014 19:18

I have a tilted uterus and with ds i was on the toilet a lot until around 4 months then it sorted itself out, this time I haven't had it mw thinks its because it didn't tilt as far back after I had ds

donkir · 18/08/2014 22:17

You can pick your bounty pack up from Asda and you get bonus stuff in it like a snuggly bath towel and some fluffy socks.

HerRoyalNotness · 18/08/2014 23:50

memphis good to know, hopefully it'll right itself, did you go in for extra checks?

Just received a medical bill I might have to pay 1100, have already paid out about $500 out of pocket so far, I really hope the insurance is going to cover it!! The obgyn fee is close to 3k of which I pay 10% plus whatever of the hospital bill. I'm beginning to see why US mothers need to go back to work so soon after birth

hazzerw · 19/08/2014 07:46

We started our holiday yesterday. We discussed bringing my blue notes but decided not to, then as soon as we got here it turned out I was having a bleed. I texted my midwife and she rang me and talked it through and isn't overly worried but I may have to go for a check today. It's brown blood (sorry for tmi) so not too worrying. I'll be on knicker watch today!

Haha re Bounty packs - I got a free (decaf) tea bag!!! How do you get a Boots one? I'm hoping the north is more generous than the south!

Sounds like good news Frenetic. Geeky, was finding it really tricky building up to holiday but now am here and having a lie in, it's great!

Bimberley · 19/08/2014 08:00

The bounty packs sound a lot better than they did 3 years ago!

Hazzer hope all is ok now. I had a slight bleed yesterday too but I think it was because we DTD. Im always so sensitive during pregnancy. No more so bleeding so far.
Brown blood is old blood so try not to panic :)

Bimberley · 19/08/2014 08:19

Seems I posted too soon.
Just been to the toilet and had some brown blood :(

Memphisbelly · 19/08/2014 08:20

Herroyslnotness tilted uterus runs in my family, no extra checks, I have been told it is actually really common and the weight of the baby pulls it forward naturally.

Hazzer hope all is ok today

donkir · 19/08/2014 09:02

Hazzer try not to worry too much. Brown blood is old blood. I'm having that type of bleeding once/twice a week due to having a mushy cervix as my doctor put it. Mine happens if I DTD or do too much during the day and also if I strain for the loo.
I am a worrier but felt much better once if seen the doctor and she checked my over and explained it.
