Morning all

I've been having odd muscle pain just under my rib cage, on and off for a few days. Anyone know what this might be, is it normal? It's not really painful just kinda annoying and confusing!

cactusnic · 11/08/2014 09:37

Nausea is grim this morning!

I've been "bad" and bought a load of baby clothes already blush. We're lucky though - although i got rid of a lot of stuff as DS is 7, we're getting a cot from my brother, carseat from a friend, and we've still got moses basket, swing, cloth nappies etc, so the only "big" thing we've to buy is a pram if we want one, and my mum is giving us a bit of money towards that.

(In all honesty, the most expensive thing will be rearranging bedrooms for DS to have a bed-sitting room - he has autism and is likely to need to "escape" from the baby - as it'll need a new wardrobe, bed and drawers).

Plus, when DS was born, my ex was v v abusive and controlling in regards to what i was allowed to buy clothes-wise etc, so i'm going a little bit daft this time, buying what i like. We got some really lovely stuff in H&M and TK Maxx yesterday.

Hi all,

Surprised to hear about flutters. I didn't feel dd till around 20 weeks.

I've got my 12 week scan tomorrow, wish me luck!

Memphisbelly · 11/08/2014 10:17

cactusnic you enjoy spending! I kept no clothes at all from ds but he was a summer baby so would have been useless anyway if I had. I have kept crib, pushchair, carseat and steriliser

blankfornames · 11/08/2014 10:24

Best of luck to those of you who have scans!
I haven't bought anything yet. My friend is giving me their moses basket & crib & baby clothes but I daren't take them for a long while! I still have no symptoms (although my jeans are tight!!) so I won't relax until I have regular movements! I'm loving the fact that some of you have felt flutters! I can't wait! Will make it much more real!

freneticfox · 11/08/2014 11:59

I realised this morning that yesterday I made it an entire 24 hours without taking Ondansetron! Still had a promethazine at bedtime, but I didn't feel bad enough to reach for the big guns. So happy with this wee bit of progress!

My joy was short lived though after bumping into a colleague at the photocopier (who has two children) and she said "I heard you'd been ill, well don't listen to anyone that fills you with false hope, pregnancy sucks and you'll feel shit the whole time, but I promise it's worth it".

Not that I want anything sugar coated, but come on, a week of feeling half decent can't be a HUGE ask, right? Right?!

frenetic HA! Well isn't she joyful?! To be honest that's very rare, most people I know have felt shit in first trimester and the rest is mostly lovely! If it's starting to fade now then chances are it will keep doing so :)

In other news, I encountered my first "bump toucher" today. A colleague at work. Strangely enough, I didn't really mind?! Am I the only one who doesn't mind because some people get proper rage over it haha. I think if people mean well and they aren't just pointing out my flab then I'm ok with it!

thingsarelookingup · 11/08/2014 14:52

That is very blunt frenetic. And certainly not always true. I'm sure she just got fed up of continually wishing and being told things would get better and then being disappointed in her own pregnancies. If things are starting to improve for you now hopefully you won't be in the same boat.

Well we had our scan today and all went well so that is a relief. Now we don't need to keep it a secret at all really anymore so that is good. I'm looking forward to the part where it is obvious that I'm pregnant. I know it sounds a bit spoilt but I like the special treatment you sometimes get with pregnancy.

thingsarelookingup · 11/08/2014 14:53

I'm not really bothered by bump touchers either hanflan so long as I know them. Random strangers would make me a bit uncomfortable but that never happened to me last time so I don't think it is that common.

Memphisbelly · 11/08/2014 15:24

Hanflan its the strangers or people I don't really know that bother me, but I don't like huggers unless you are one of a small minority that I will hug willingly.

Frenetic, wow she was a happy soul. Pregnancy doesn't all suck, some of it is nice, when your hair, nails and skin look amazing and everyone says you look well enjoy it because that comes just before people start with the 'are you having twins?' And 'you're MASSIVE' Grin I loved the last few weeks, ds was a summer baby and my house was cool so I just pottered around baking cakes, reading amd listening to music with my patio doors open, it was bliss

JacktheLab · 11/08/2014 16:06

My boobs look so fab at the moment too Wink

Some people just have a tough time of being pregnant but they shouldn't bring everyone else down!

freneticfox · 11/08/2014 17:50

Memphis I had my first experience of this the other day in Boots buying Folic Acid- the cashier asked if I was ready for baby yet and I replied 'well I have until February' and she looked shocked. Yeah, this is just 'eating everything to stop nausea' bump.

Been an ok day, apart from being woken from a nap by an almighty clap of thunder followed swiftly by two of my three cats hopping on the sofa with me looking worried. Great big wusses...

Jack my boobs were looking great; until I noticed stretch marks on the underside of them. At 13 weeks!! :(

Grin Jack

I have to say friends and dh keep commenting on my boobs but I have always wanted no boobs so I cringe to look at them.

Im really craving a maccy D's sadly have no one to go and get one for me and ai am way too lazy

BanglesSpangles · 11/08/2014 17:54

Hi all

bimberley I'm prone to palpitations, whitefly if I've been drinking gin, but guess that's not going to be happening for a while! I do find they seem to get worse is you concentrate on them/look for them though- bit of a viscious cycle unfortunately

In my news, broke the news to my boss today and took the opportunity to ask about mat pay. She in said it's just statutory but I asked if that's negotiable, and she came back later in the day to say she'd look into it further- seemed quite surprised that I'd asked, which made me think is it unusual to get more than smp? Obviously feel free not to answer that question, but it's got me thinking that maybe I'm being unreasonable for asking!

BanglesSpangles · 11/08/2014 18:06

PS- I would very much like some of these pregnancy boobs that everyone has been talking about- have an awesome dress for a wedding next week that would benefit from some additional padding in the chest dept

Memphisbelly · 11/08/2014 18:40

Bangles I work for myself so won't get anything but my friend is in a very highly paid job she got 3 month full pay, 3 months part pay then smp but she appealed saying 7 years at uni, stuff she has done for them etc then got 9 months full pay then smp

Bangonthedoor · 11/08/2014 19:10

I get smp which is unfortunately non negotiable. I think it's a bit unfair as I've been there several years and given them everything ...but my boss is flexible in every other way so I'm not too bad off.

My boobs are covered in stretch marks, some from DD and some new ones. I'm a 30K bra normally and they are growing by the day...or so it feels! Grin

Bangonthedoor · 11/08/2014 19:12

Oh and my news for the day....DD ran off in Matalan today, I chased after her and wee'd a bit as I ran Blush

Oh the joys...Grin

thingsarelookingup · 11/08/2014 19:12

Bangles I got additional maternity pay in my last job. My current job have no idea if they offer any extra or not but because we are moving to Australia shortly after we have this baby I can only take smp anyway because you have to return after maternity leave to qualify for extra.

thingsarelookingup · 11/08/2014 19:13

Pregnancy is so glamorous isn't it bang?

Memphisbelly · 11/08/2014 19:19

Bangon...a K cup!!! Wow make my G's feel small for once! Im sorry the wee a bit made me laugh! My friend has always had a weak bladded as soon as she fell pg if she even giggled she would wet herself!

BanglesSpangles · 11/08/2014 19:34

PS- I would very much like some of these pregnancy boobs that everyone has been talking about- have an awesome dress for a wedding next week that would benefit from some additional padding in the chest dept

Memphisbelly · 11/08/2014 19:45

I moan about my guts being off but this afternoon I have eaten 2 oranges, half a jar of pickled cockles and half a jar of gerkins....this isn't going to be doing me any good!

BanglesSpangles · 11/08/2014 20:21

memphis wow- 9 months is pretty amazing! And thanks for the other responses- making me feel less unreasonable for asking!

bang the glamour! Sorry, but that did make me laugh a little bit

Bangonthedoor · 11/08/2014 20:30

Ha! No need to be sorry! I often chuckle at myself in shame/disbelief. It happens to me quite often....that'll teach me for not doing my pelvic floors!
