I think that paranoia is v v common, frenetic. I wasn't bad at my NHS dating scan, but only because if was only 4 days after a private one, so i managed to convince myself that the chances of bad news after only 4 days were low. I was a complete mess before the private scans though. And 10 days after the dating scan, i'm getting paranoid again...sigh.

Memphisbelly · 30/07/2014 17:58

Geeky did you know about the fibroids previously? Is it something that will need treating at a later date?
I just cooked tea and don't fancy it now. Cannot wait for dh to return tomorrow night but got loads to do once he does, loading the car, collecting roof box from my dad, may get a takeaway and then I need to go shopping for camping food.

JacktheLab · 30/07/2014 18:09

Evening all,

My ds who is two and three quarters (v important that 3/4Grin) told me last night that our house was too hot so we had to buy a new one!!! I am so glad we aren't further on with all this heat but I getting fed up with it all Angry

Scan is on Tuesday, I'm trying not to worry but it's so hard not to plus I'm in my late thirties so the downs stats etc don't make for happy reading either. I'm comforting myself that my son was fine so this one should be too, could do with a glass of wine though....

blankfornames · 30/07/2014 18:11

Oh Frenetic, here's your sister! Because I mc in April, I had an early scan this time. Although I could see the heartbeat, it only have me reassurance for about 2 days. I'm back to constant knicker watching and counting down the nanoseconds until Tuesday! When is yours? We can alternate holding hands & fish slaps together! Wink

Memphisbelly · 30/07/2014 18:24

I think it is natural to be worried, I have had two scans but am so worried after having this bug I think how can baby be ok when I was so ill yesterday and food poisoning on the weekend, mw tried to reassure me, going to push dh even more to go for early gender scan just to make me feel better.
My downs screening came back at 1:100000

Bangonthedoor · 30/07/2014 18:28

Hi all Smile

Got my scan and screening tomorrow but not until 2pm! Current due date is 6th February given to me by an early scan so hoping it's brought forward by just a tiny bit! My worrying has actually calmed down a bit the nearer my scan date has got. Although I'm still mega worried Hmm

memphis we're going camping too so packing the car up is a job for me this evening! So after the scan we're heading to the new forest for the weekend Smile first time camping with DD....

Memphisbelly · 30/07/2014 18:46

Bangonthedoor good luck with the scan and have a great weekend, dh hasn't booked a campsite and neither have I...oops!

GeekyHybrid · 30/07/2014 18:58

Memphis - I had no idea though knew my mom had suffered with ovarian cysts which caused really bad menopause. They reckon they'll just need monitoring and won't do anything unless they cause issues, shouldn't interfere with the pregnancy or labour, well, unless I have a c/s which hopefully not. Might explain why it took so long to conceive :-/

All those heading off camping enjoy yourselves, nothing like being out in the field etc..

Jack - I chose not to have the combined scan purely because I'm also in my late 30's and knew that whatever good measurements they took, when combined with my age it wouldn't be a great figure so I thought why worry, whatever we get we'll be happy. And I once worked with a girl with Down's so I know it isn't the end of the world.

Sorry for the epic post, dashing off now for a girls night / 50th birthday celebration :-D

Memphisbelly · 30/07/2014 19:04

Geeky....nothing like being in a field apart from being in a posh spa hotel drinking champers Wink

Bimberley · 30/07/2014 19:26

Hi everyone! Sorry haven't caught up on today's posts yet. I'll have a read back in a minute.
I've spent the day in the garden with DCs. Had mum over for lunch. We got the paddling pool out. DCs had a lovely day. I think I over done it though. Had to come and have a lay down with horrible period cramps.
They have died down a bit now but I'm now worrying.

Bangonthedoor · 30/07/2014 19:37

Try not to worrybimberley you listened to your body Smile the main thing is we know when we over do it and as long as we rest we'll be ok Smile

freneticfox · 30/07/2014 22:59

blank - deal! Mine's on Weds so an extra day! I have a doppler, but I know it's rare to hear anything at home before 14 weeks so have resisted, but my GOD I have itchy fingers. I had a scan about two weeks ago because I was bleeding (at nearly 10 weeks) and there was a heartbeat - but the midwife said she could see a minor bleed. She then went on to say it was nothing to worry about. HOW?!

So yeah. It's been an agonising wait... no more bleeding, but still. My brain is doing bad, bad things.

Memphisbelly · 30/07/2014 23:06

Frenetic I saw the mw today and I am 14 weeks and she said she wouldn't bother with doppler as its too early and if she didn't find it it would cause worry that isnt needed.
At my 7 week scan I had a bleed in the uterus also they said as it wasn't near the sac it was fine and I may pass a bit of old blood (which I didn't) by the 12 week one the blood had dispersed.

fluffymouse · 30/07/2014 23:41

Hi all, been away from the thread for a while.

How has explaining to older siblings gone? I have tried explaining to dd (age 3) and she thinks that she has a baby in her tummy too, and daddy has a big baby in his tummy. It sweet but I wonder what people will think!

blankfornames · 31/07/2014 07:44

frenetic, if you've made it to 10 wks with a heartbeat your statistics are HUGELY in your favour!! Bleeds are incredibly frightening and albeit, very unfair but these Beans have teeny tiny boxing gloves on ready for anything that stands in their way!

I have only been sick once & luckily haven't felt too ill over my first tri. I've eaten lots of carbs but at 11 wks, I haven't put on any weight. I feel my waistline more round in the evening but nothing to show for it on the scales in the morning. I know I'll regret asking this but...how about the rest of you ladies around 11/12 wk mark?

BanglesSpangles · 31/07/2014 07:56

Morning all
blank nothing on me but I'm definitely feeling roundier in the waistline department- the trousers I have on today barely do up now! Wondering if I've maybe lost a bit of muscle after almost 3months of practically no exercise!

Bimberley · 31/07/2014 08:02

Thanks Bangon! Feel much better today.
Fluffy we told our DCs a while ago now. DS who is two doesn't understand and hasn't mentioned it since. He will listen when we talk about it but he's not bothered at all!
DD who is 4 was very excited at first. But it has to be a sister! No more brothers she said.
She played up horrible for a few days after. It did coincide with dH working longer hours. She was a nightmare. We are past that now though and she is very excited to be having a baby sister! I just hope it's a girl now! She has a name picked too!

blankfornames · 31/07/2014 08:03

Thank you Bangles! Makes me feel better! I know Bean is only the size if a Brussel Sprout but I expected to be packing a few extra lbs! Shouldn't complain really.

JacktheLab · 31/07/2014 08:56

Blank, I've lost three pounds but I'm fat so I have been trying not to go mad so quite satisfied that I haven't put on.

My waist I has expanded a lot of the bloating has gone now but still look quite up the duff Wink

Memphisbelly · 31/07/2014 09:47

blank no weight gain here but 36 inch waist and g cup boobs to show I was 'only' 42 inch full term with ds.

bimberley ds is beyond excited but only wants a boy. he wants to do ALL the feeds and has started eating better saying his baby 'bruvver' will watch that he is eating his dinners

Bimberley · 31/07/2014 10:01

Aw Memphis your DS sounds very sweet! At least we will have little helpers on our hands :)

BanglesSpangles · 31/07/2014 10:11

Haha, blank I know exactly what you mean- its yet another thing I've added to my list of reasons why the sonographer is going to say 'I'm very sorry, bangles, you appear to have imagined this baby'

blankfornames · 31/07/2014 10:20

Aw Bangles! What do we do to ourselves!!
My only current symptom (apart from nipple erectus all the time..if that's a symptom!!) is my forgetfulness! My friend who is 13 wks preggers came for tea last night. She doesn't yet know my news. The pair of us could hardly retain a conversation! Shock

Memphisbelly · 31/07/2014 10:31

blank.... nipple erectus Grin Grin Grin that really made me laugh.

freneticfox · 31/07/2014 10:38

Memphis thanks for the tip, I won't torture myself with a doppler just yet, then!

Weight gain... hmm. I haven't weighed myself but I know I've put on more than I'd like so far because my normal 'comfy' clothes are tight and some even unwearable so I'm in flaring dresses and leggings a size up from my normal. Completely down to my constant grazing; I have every intention of reverting back to a healthier diet once the nausea stage has passed!
