Thanks CJ, those Skip Hop Prontos are niiiice, spotted a nice chevron design one already! My handbags aren't particularly big so doubt the Skiphop would fit into one Hehe, also planning to use cloth nappies, ya reckon the Skiphops would be big enough?

YellowWellies · 26/07/2014 21:27

Stigz yes that was we did with J too. After a few weeks we didn't need to wake him as he could go longer between feeds and was alert enough to wake himself when hungry. We did the 3 hour feed cycle to establish BF properly and to flush the bilirubin out of his system (he had quite bad jaundice), by week 2-3 he had figured out cluster feeding from 7-10pm and then could go 5 or 6 hours without a feed. J has been giving us practice at shit nights with his fever. I got 6 hours sleep last night in 3 chunks. Made me remember what sleep deprivation is Shock !

YellowWellies · 26/07/2014 21:29

Those skip hop prontos are awesome!

ExcitedCJ · 26/07/2014 21:48

Kirsti you are a wee tiny thing, very cute wee bump. I have the wierd smaller in picture thing happening too. I feel HUGE until I see pics.
Not sure if it would be OK for a long day out with cloth nappies but you could certainly get one or two in there I think. You can also get a wet/dry bag in the same chevron print. They are great if you are feeding & don't want to hulk around a big bag.

fedupofrainydays · 26/07/2014 21:57

6 hours doesn't count as sleep deprivation yellow!!!

YellowWellies · 26/07/2014 22:07

It does when it comes in 3 separate two-hour chunks!

To be fair we were v lucky on sleep last time - well as soon as we cut dairy out of J's diet we were - after that we always got 7+ hours (sometimes in 2-3 chunks) all the worst sleepers in our last post natal club had food intolerances that resolved when the food was removed. Other than one Mum who's kid absolutely is perfectly healthy and doesn't believe in intolerances and allergies and who has to sleep train her DD every 2-3 weeks with up to 5 hours of crying at bedtime!!!! The poor kid is riddled with eczema and asthma too. But it can't be an intolerance. Oh no. When she cut milk her DD slept through Sad

Grannyapple · 26/07/2014 22:08

Thanks ladies! Hb levels were 112 & lymphocytes 0.8 ...can't remember the rest as mw checked in screen for me then did a letter for me to post through doc surgery so I can collect prescription on Monday or Tuesday. But they were below the thresholds & explains why I've been feeling so shattered & picking up these infections!

excited thanks for the advice...but I had just bought the Apple Spatone when I checked in on here. Is 3 for 2 in boots by the way for anyone else who needs it.

stigz we used to do the same with both ours for the first 2 months pretty much...change nappy to wake, feed..& then 9 times out if 10 they'd do a poo explosion as you're feeding them so another change required!

yellow sorry to head about your wee toddler...did hospital day what the infection/virus was? Is a killer when they're like that...you get used to a bit of sleep for a short time & then bam! you feel like a zombie again.

I can't believe my little girl is 1 on Wednesday! She's being mega cute & cheeky with it too the past week but is hitting home again that there will be 3 of them... Shock

fedupofrainydays · 26/07/2014 22:13

Yeah I know really yellow
Broken sleep is just as hard, I was joking.
I've totally forgotten what it's like and trying to gear myself up for the harsh reality of it and having a toddler to entertain in the day!

fedupofrainydays · 26/07/2014 22:15

granny wow - only just 1!!! How old is your other child?!!! You have really gone for it haven't you! I was def not having sex early enough after ds to even make it possible to have a baby that close in age! Wowsers!

YellowWellies · 26/07/2014 22:16

Oh and don't forget tickling their toes or chubby cheeks to stop them falling asleep mid feed!

No idea on the virus, his ears, chest, nose, and throat are all clear. No swelling in his tummy. What are the odds a load of CP spots appear on Friday as we try to board a plane down south Confused

fedupofrainydays · 26/07/2014 22:20

Oh I hope it's not the pox yellow and that he's better soon. I hate it so much when my boy is ill.

Well worked it all out and the babyjogger with all
The extras and buggy board is still about £550! Pricey. I suppose it's not a bugaboo £1000 though!

YellowWellies · 26/07/2014 22:21

Fed up I thought that! Poor DH wasn't in the position to knock me up Blush / nor did I ovulate thanks to night BF in time for a 1 year gap. I've a pal with an 11 month gap. The youngest has just turned one and she definitely feels sanity is returning. Her boys are soooo close! Her first son's 1st word was "baby" Smile .

Me23 · 26/07/2014 22:38

granny your hb level is fine anything above 105 at 28 weeks is normal and not diagnostic of anaemia, even at beginning of pregnancy hb if 110 or more is normal.
I started pregnancy with hb if 115 which is normal but now at 28 weeks it is 85 so definitely anaemic an feeling it! Am on x3 iron tablets a day and may need transfusion if levels do not go up.
I'm not quite sure why your mw is recommending iron tablets with a normal result as they can have horrible side effects so take it easy! You may find that spatone is better for you.
Here's a link to anaemia in pregnancy www.rcht.nhs.uk/DocumentsLibrary/RoyalCornwallHospitalsTrust/Clinical/MidwiferyAndObstetrics/AnaemiaInPregnancyAndPostDeliveryClinicalGuidelineForTheDiagnosisAndTreatmentOf.pdf also the nice guideline for antenatal care has good info.

Grannyapple · 26/07/2014 22:40

fedup & yellow ahem yes, Amelia is 1 on Wednesday & Nate is 3yrs 5 months at the mo...& yes I have had lots if "what the hell were you doing having sex when you're baby was 5/6 months?!" & "is there no TV in your house or something?!" Grin.

But yes I've just gotten over the interrupted nights with madam recently so I'm banking as much sleep now as I can!

And yellow fx it ain't CP but I hate to say it, but Nate's started like that this time last year...I actually thought it was croup at one point as he was struggling to breathe...then he was sick everywhere... Doc said it was hayfever (wtf?!) & recommended antihistamine/piriton syrup at the time...4 days later CP spots appeared on my due date with madam...

binkybunny · 26/07/2014 22:41

Maybe a dumb question but does bf stop/slow down your cycles? If we have a second child we'd want to ttc within a year of this one being born will bf make it harder to conceive?

Grannyapple · 26/07/2014 22:49

Thanks me23 will bear that in mind...I wondered if it was my iron levels affecting me as I have some sort of chest infection but doc says chest is clear despite me feeling really short of breath esp when lying down & still coughing up gunk...I persuaded her to give me antibiotics which are helping a bit, but still feel ill. The thresholds listed were 118-148 for hb & 1.0-3.2 for lymphocytes. Does it vary by trust area then? Will stick with Spatone for now then x

YellowWellies · 26/07/2014 22:50

Binky night feeds can suppress ovulation. By a year you shouldn't be feeding much at night. My period returned when J was six months as we were down to one or no night feed a night - daytime feeds don't have a big effect on ovulation. I guess its evolutions way of stopping conception when you've got a wee baby so your body isn't overwhelmed.

Granny that's my shit maths. I was thinking sex at 2 months (misread as a one year gap) sex at 5 months is quite plausible. I hear you on the CP, the unexplained ridiculously high temperature spike, off food and utterly listless is making me expect spots any day Confused

mum2kiss · 26/07/2014 23:02

Granny my iron levels were 108 last week when they said I was slightly anaemic. The midwife said they like them to stay above 110 so I'm on iron tablets now.

I don't plan to wake my sleeping baby except possibly for a dream feed. I never changed dd's nappy at night unless it was wet or poo filled! I don't think it was ever poo filled during the night though...

YellowWellies · 26/07/2014 23:07

We had pooey night nappies in the first month but thank god not after. Now I never check and have been caught out - poor sod. I'd have not wanted to wake him to feed but he was so small and prem and borderline for a blood transfusion for jaundice so we had to. Its the only way to flush out the bilirubin.

ExcitedCJ · 26/07/2014 23:11

Oh Yellow hope your LO feels better soon, it's all over bar the scratching by the time the spots appear!
Got my Amby Hammock back from my SIL today & it's as good as new & all hand washed ready for baby No.3 to sleep in it! :)
Amby hammock & Snuz Pod will be my sleep solutions prior to big cot. It's getting very real now with all clothes washed & all bits pretty much bought.
I loved the spreadsheet talk of yesterday I did that when pregnant with DD! I needed all costs & requirements mapped out. This time I didn't have too much to buy, so a list on my iPhone is working just fine. Did my hospital bag list last night.

YellowWellies · 26/07/2014 23:25

Well just been to tuck him in and he's much cooler and not woken so far. Fingers crossed we get a good chunk of sleep!

ohthegoats · 27/07/2014 01:29

My friend was still breastfeeding at 4/5 months when she got pregnant with number two. They thought they'd be 'alright', but noooo.

ohthegoats · 27/07/2014 01:31

I had a naughty bad mother day today AGAIN... had a gin cocktail (only one shot of gin, and drunk over an hour with water in between), and then a full on caffeine cappuccino.

It was bloody brilliant. I realised afterwards that the only two moments when I've felt snippets of 'myself' in the last 6/7 months were during and after the gin, and during and after the coffee. Glimmers of the real me, not the pathetic pregnant me. Was brilliant... I so can't wait not to be pregnant anymore, it's really frigging boring.

YellowWellies · 27/07/2014 02:13

Argh fcking bstard next-door-but-one's c*nting burglar alarm has been going off every 20 minutes since midnight! Just when you go mad, it stops, then when you nod off, it. starts again!!!!! Argh its only woken J once but woken me and DH every time! Think they're on bloody holiday. Non emergency police number reckon they can't do anything as the contact details for the alarm aren't registered with them. When is it reasonable to go round with a baseball bat and knock it off the wall? They're new neighbours and I think it safe to say that no one will ever take that alarm seriously now.... If I had a newborn OMG I'd be psychotic! Shitty letter being composed in my head - I am Hyacinth Bucket tonight!!!!

Goats yes BF isn't a foolproof contraception and shouldn't be relied on! Most super short age gaps occur when FF but BF Mums can get surprises too Grin

ExcitedCJ · 27/07/2014 07:10

Goats I know how you are feeling. I had a wee tiny glass of wine last night when out for dinner & for 1 glorious hour I felt back to normal!
Yellow that's all you needed!
