Sparkle everyone I know with a babyjogger has loved it, and folks that work their way thru lots of buggies usually end up with one!

Grannyapple · 26/07/2014 12:04

Hi ladies...just saw mw...iron levels are low so waiting til mon/tues to get iron tabs from docs. Anyone recommend any good over the counter stuff to do me over the w/e? Thanks.

YellowWellies · 26/07/2014 12:28

I've admitted defeat and ordered some bra extenders!

Oh and Sparkle if you're not offroading I loved our M&P sola - I'd still be using it if we hadn't got the dog. Much of our walking now is too off road for it sadly. It has the advantage of allowing parent facing. If money is no object the Uppababy Vista is highly recommended too.

Kirstipops · 26/07/2014 12:36

Grannyapple sorry I don't have recommendations for iron supplements (if it's just over the weekend though I'd just try to eat iron rich foods rather than splashing out on supplements) but my midwife told me last time to remember to get enough vitamin c as it helps your body to absorb iron, so just a wee extra tip anyway :)
Yellow hope your little guy feels better soon.
I need to measure my boobs, only my sports bras are comfy now so not sure if its my chest or cups that are making maternity bras uncomfy now. Sorta loath to buy more bras as I'll prob need bigger ones again for bf'ing eh?

Another tip about iron intake is that tea helps your body absorb iron. My mum lost lots of her hair through iron deficiency and has bad reactions to iron supplements so has to get as much as she can naturally. Brocolli has high iron levels too more than spinach!

I'm really feeling for all those that can't sleep. It's bad enough here in Scotland with Windows open and the fan on so I can imagine it must be he'll down south :(

YellowWellies · 26/07/2014 13:08

Yes v good point about vitamin C take your iron supplements with a glass of fresh orange juice. And up your fibre intake as iron supplements can really bung you up!

HopefulHamster · 26/07/2014 13:14

Sparkle - we got the babyjogger. I am 5'2, husband 6 foot and it seemed to work. I wanted something light (the mini version is less than 7kg, my old Oyster was more like 11) as I need to drag it up steps sometimes, and very easy to fold (for buses) - look up a vid of the baby jogger mini being folded and you'll see how awesome it is! The downside is it's not parent-facing but I decided to think longer term with this one.

bumpbangbump · 26/07/2014 14:19

Kiwi has higher vit c than orange so if that helps absorption then get lots.

Baby jogger gets my vote too!

Bugs, hope you've managed a nap today.

Missus2ndwife · 26/07/2014 14:21

The UppaVista is very nice but I struggled to close it (with the assistant standing next to me trying to tell me what to do) whereas the BabyJogger is so easy and light. My friend says she can hold her baby and fold in one easy movement Grin

Good to read so many positives for BabyJogger. This has confirmed it's the pram for me too

ExcitedCJ · 26/07/2014 14:26

Sparkle I have both Uppa Baby Vista & Babyjogger, either would be suitable. Still use the BJ for my 3.5 yr old, will use Uppa with new bub.
Granny just nip into the Pharmacy & ask for Ferrous Sulphate 200mg, they will sell them to you over the counter for approx £2, this is more than likely what GP will prescribe anyway. Spatone are great too but only for mild iron deficiency, I generally double up on the sachets (just had 2 with my lunch!) I'm off to see Pharm this afternoon to get more Ferrous Sulphate as I feel much more energetic taking them.

ExcitedCJ · 26/07/2014 14:29

Ps. I LOVE both the Uppa & Babyjogger but for longevity BJ wins!
You get used to the opening & closing of Uppa & it's very comfy & handy for shopping trips & newborn with bassinet but I was lucky my Mum bought mine for me!

ExcitedCJ · 26/07/2014 14:47

Meant to mention - I went to a sling library meet up today. Fantastic set up & amazing to see all the different slings & get good advice. If you have any sling questions you should try and get yourself to one. Made me all happy to see all the baby wearing parents. Nice people. :)
Also got to check out cloth nappies, the two organisations run the event together.

YellowWellies · 26/07/2014 15:09

Yes when you get on a bus battling with shopping bags, baby and buggy and the driver gruffly nods at your buggy and informs you with I'll concealed and surly glee that there's a wheelchair on board and you'll have to either fold the buggy or get off - the one handed BJCM fold is AMAZING! Obviously you'll still hate him if you have to wake a sleeping baby!!!

Kirstipops · 26/07/2014 15:37

Question for the baby-wearing mamas: what sort of changing bag do you take out and about with you?

ExcitedCJ · 26/07/2014 15:46

Kirsti Skip Hop Pronto. Just bung it in your regular handbag and sling over shoulder or across your body, if you need anything else.

fedupofrainydays · 26/07/2014 17:23

We are literally just back from john Lewis and buggy testing. Am going for the baby jogger citi mini gt. DH liked it too and even my tall son fitted in it!

Kirstipops · 26/07/2014 17:40

31 week bump pic. Going out for dinner so in the only pretty maternity thing I've allowed myself to buy (for a wedding I was too ill to go to in the end!) Anyone else feel huge in the mirror but then the camera makes it look less big? [Confused]

JellyBeansHaveNoAgeLimit · 26/07/2014 18:28

argh i had to get up to pee FOUR times last night! i have enforced a drinks curfew on myself (sips of squash only after 8pm) which i broke by having a cup of tea at 9pm, never again!

The sky is looking decidedly darker here atm, very much hoping for some rain, i might have to go and dance in it Grin

JellyBeansHaveNoAgeLimit · 26/07/2014 18:29

Forgot to add, beautiful bump Kirsti!

mum2kiss · 26/07/2014 20:00

I'm on a drinks curfew too jelly. If I drink anything before bed I'm up all night! The fact that our bathroom is downstairs AND I have pgp makes it all the worse! Since I started the curfew I've had a couple of nights where I didn't get up at all!

I think if my bathroom was downstairs and I had pgp I would def wee in a potty with a she-wee!

STIGZ · 26/07/2014 21:16

So my mind has started thinking about night feeds & procedure i was advised to follow
With DD ; Last time i was advised to wake dd every 3 hours which consisted of changing her nappy first then feeding her. S

STIGZ · 26/07/2014 21:25

Arrgh stupid phone!! Will carry on ... Is it really neccessary to change nappy first if its dry? The advise i was given from family was that baby would wake when she was hungary & i should just basically feed on demand.,, as it was my first i obviously did everything i was advised from midwifes .,, but i remember sometimes she didnt even take the feed as was very sleepy ?? Has the advice changed from 4 years ago or is it personal choice regarding feeding on demand ??

I will appreciate any of your words of wisdom(",)
