Hi All,

I hope all has gone well for Puppy,
Liquidclocks how are you doing?

Ok I'll tell you what happened as briefly has I can.
Sat night I started having pains at 12am dp was asleep, so I got up and try to walk them away thinking they were BH but when the pain didnt go and brought tears to my eyes we went in to the hosp at 2am. I was given pethidine as the pain was ridiculous. Pethidine better than a Jack Dee and coke any dayI was only 1cm at that stage. Was then moved to another ward where they monitored me and the baby, baby was in distress so they broke my waters I had meconium in my waters, by now im on gas and air, pethidine worn off. I then dilated to 3cm. Was moved to the delivery suite and for the next 7 hours I didnt budge from 3cm.
The consultant had put a STAN on the baby's head to monitor the baby and the baby was still in distress so it was decided an emergency c-section was needed within 15mins I was in theater and they were making their first incision. DP and Mum were my rocks considering I was a blubbering wreck half the time.
I came home last night and even though Im soo tired feel like a zombie Im sooooo Happy shes georgous I could cry just typing it!!

Congratulations Myrtle, Flumpy and Redz!!! My, you've all been busy while I was gone!

I've been busy too....!

Alexander James arrived with us on Tuesday morning (26th) at 5:41am after a remarkably quick labour. I woke up around 3.30am (after eating some pineapple and having the most fab tme with DH which I hope he made the most of as it won't be happening again for a while!) with a strong urge for the loo (tmi, sorry!), by 4.00am I was in 'real' labour and we got to the hospital about 4.30am. I asked for an epi as soon as I got there but they insisted on checking my progress (as they do!) and getting my penicillin drip going and by the time they'd done that i was ready to push - so me, the woman who was DEFINITELY having and epi, did it all with gas and air! (feeling rather to proud of myself!). Because it was so quick Alex didn't get enough penicillin so we had to stay in hosp for 48 hrs but we're home now and doing great, I have the same size tear as DS1 but SO much less sore - short quick labour = less bruising apparently! (btw - staff were fab, loads of BF support and own room for both days!)

I've put a piccy on the yahoo group for you all to see (of course he's just the most beautiful baby around...!) - hope you like!

...and, I can finally graduate myself yippeee!

Just been on yahoo - lots of new pics! Marlo, don't your two look alike! So cute! And all the others are so gorgeous!! Compo, love the one of your DS meeting DD for the first time - fantastic photo!! Love the name too.

Gizmo · 28/09/2006 20:46

Oh, now I'm feeling like a slacker

Congratulations, LC on jumping the queue! So pleased you had a straightforward time birth, and I'm liking your choice of names.

Due date tomorrow and I'm feeling extremely chilled, partly because I'm not convinced baby is ready to arrive and partly because I'm so damn busy that if he's late it will be a merciful relief. Still, we have all the crucial stuff done - freezer full of food, hospital bag packed if transfer needed, birth pool tested and tarpulin bought, got in contact with La leche league for emergency counselling if necessary, bathroom grouted, legs waxed as recommended on grooming lady garden thread - so provided baby doesn't arrive tonight, which would entail me cancelling a plumber who doesn't have another slot until Christmas, then I guess I won't have anything to panic over.

Hopefully see you all on the post-natal thread, or else I shall be making some friends on the 'due in October' discussion!

Congratulations to those that have had their lo's

As for me ... Its a girl!!!, Elizabeth Jane was born at 23.42 on 27th after a speedy labour weighing 8lb 1oz.

Excuse grammer punctuation,

Prostin gel was given at 7pm I started to have pains immediatley but with no rhythm or length. At 9pm they started to become stronger and more regular dh was sent home as they said it was just pains caused by the gel and not contractions. It all then happened so quickly that I have no idea of times, I decided I needed the toilet and waited till a pain had gone, got up, got into toilet had another pain, went to toilet got up and had another then managed to get back to the bed where another contraction got me. Buzzed midwife had pethedine, put me into a side room and checked me to see if I was dilating - she thought it was still the prostin gel causing the pain prior. 4cm dilated contractions coming every 2 mins now, midwife rang DH to meet us at labour ward. Got into delivery room where I requested a epidural and anthesist came immediately (dh had just turned up at this point too) I had the sudden urge to push so midwife checked me and it was too late for epidural next thing I knew Elizabeth had arrived.

According to to my notes 1st stage labour was 26ins, 2nd 6 mins and final was 7 mins.

1st degree tear but no stitches. Elizabeth has a head full of dark hair and is so settled.
