Liquid, ha ha re the cow!! Could just as easily have been a goat or sheep!! Or just a wet nurse.

My god, Fraser just did a poo, and I heard it from in here (he is in the lounge, I am in the dining room!!!).

clairemow · 21/09/2006 14:22

PS Liquid, DS1 also sleeps more than the "recommended" amount, and also suffers from terrible mood syndrome if tired and hungry...! Perhaps they should get together.

Sorry everyone, we've finished now.

Coriander73 · 21/09/2006 16:15

Do I have to post on the post-natal group now?! For what it's worth I'm missing getting on MN as much as usual...I'll totally shattered but elated...at least second time aound it doesn't seem as horrific (the sleepless nights etc..!!)

I've posted a piccie of Jack on yahoo..not sure how to do it on here...any tips??!!

liquidclocks · 21/09/2006 17:20

Will go and have a look at your piccy Cori!

Results back btw - absolutely fine, knew they would be. Will probably be the biggest healthiest baby they've seen in ages! Can hear things being thrown into the bath, better go check it out....

liquidclocks · 21/09/2006 17:40

Awww! he is so gorgeous! well done - worth 9 months of effort I'd say!

Coriander73 · 21/09/2006 18:40

Thanks Liquid!

Am feeling very blue today...forgotten how powerful those post birth blues can be...

liquidclocks · 21/09/2006 19:51

Sorry you're having a blue spell Cori- that's the bit I'm not looking forward to - as I remember days 4 and 5 were the worst. Don't worry, it'll get better very soon, I'll send you a big virtual hug though! Give that LO a big cuddle too, he's just lovely.

Marls001 · 21/09/2006 22:08

Cori - Jack is gorgeous, especially for a 4-day old!

Liquid - was itchy nearly my entire pg ... hope it's nothing serious for you ...

Hey everyone,

CONGRATULATIONS to those who have had their babies and those who haven't and still have an evening to them selves and can sleep!!!

Here life is busy- was DD's 2nd birthday on Monday and DP has invited the whole world and wives to our house on Sunday to have a birthday party which was supposed to be just family and my sister is coming and hasn't even seen Ben yet, so really wanted a quiet day and spend time with MY family (I only have my sister) but no such luck. He wizzed off to work four days after he was born too so I have had DD and DS (sounds wierd typing that!) on my own and in laws coming at every opportunity to annoy me and cause me more bloody work and upset DD even more.

Dd is wonderful with him tho and just is still wanting to kiss him and stroke him head- which I think he is getting a bit fed up with but did like it when she gave him a toy plonked in his chair which he sat looking at for an hour while she triked around him.

DP is driving me mad- and I know maily becasue i'm sleep deprived but he does bugger-all!!! Comes in from work and flops in chair saying he is tired and falls asleep. So I still have DD and DS to manage when really all I want to do is fall asleep or spend quality time with them rather than half trying to do a puzzle with DD while feeding DS etc...

On the feeding front- We have given up trying to get him to latch on, the mw signed me off on Monday and showed no signs of helping me get him to latch on and i really was upset about it because (and I kinow babies never go to plan) I wanted to breast feed him. But, what'll be will be. I did express and he had one or two feed breast milk for a week but we have now stopped which I feel sad about because i'm not providing for my baby. I also know that now I physically don't have enough milk for him and don't think I could put him to my breast often enough with my commitments with DD and the bloomin' in laws coming round every two minutes.

Oh well, on a lighter note he is BEAUTIFUL and will pop some pics up soon! He is fairly good too once he's settled. I have just totally forgotten that newborn stage. He was weighed yesterday and was 10lbs1.5 ozs! and dead on two weeks old. DD was 2.5 stone! I think i'm bringing up two little piggies.

Hope everyones well and their bubs are either cooking well or being good for their mummies!

liquidclocks · 22/09/2006 15:20

Pol - great to hear from you! Sorry to hear no improvement on the DH?DH's family front though - hope they're not getting in the way to much. It's so nice to hear that your DD has taken well to the new baby as well though, I think so far it's all gone well with people's first borns - hope mine doesn't break the mould! Shame about the BF - any thoughts about starting a thread in the BF section, annoying your m/w didn't help you out more, maybe some of the MN lot could help? Please don't feel bad if you've decided to make the switch though, DS will be fine and will still love you just as much - you're his mummy!

Marls - I'm fine! Just worried over nothing as results proved, strange coz a little part of me though 'if they come back positive I'll get induced and wouldn't that be nice' - huh? I really thought I didn't mind when DS2 turned up, must be a part of me that does!

Quiet today anyway - hopefully that means new arrivals soon - but then I'll be left here on my own typing messages to myself while you're all off busy with newborns...

compo · 22/09/2006 16:49

Pol26 - great to hear from you. Join us on the postnatal thread when you get chance.

Liquidclocks - thinking of you, hope it happens soon for you xxx

liquidclocks · 22/09/2006 17:02

Thanks Compo - 6 days to go until due date.... They only let us go over 10 days here which is good to know. Only odd thing is that the community midwives aren't allowed to do sweeps until you're 7 whole days overdue!

Marls001 · 22/09/2006 19:02

Hi Pol! Understand the FF quandary as I'm feeling a bit sad myself. You've got to do what you've got to do though. Grr at your DP ...

Liquid, So glad nothing's serious. It's definitely buggy though; itching would keep me awake at night without antihistamine pills.

calvemjoe · 22/09/2006 21:58

As promised, here are the gory details...

Elizabeth Marie was born on Monday afternoon at 12.39 by emergengy section weighing in at 7lbs 10 1/2oz.

For those of you who want to know, here are the gory details. After spending Sunday morning being monitored we decided to go ahead with the induction and I was given the first lot of gel pessary at 3pm. Not much happened and there was some confusion over how much they could give me as it was an attempted vbac so they decided to wait until my consultant came in on monday morning. I started to have contractions at 3 am and they were coming every couple of minutes by morning. I was examined at 9am and found to be 2cms dilated, so the roughest dr in the world broke my waters and I spent the next couple of hours wandering around hoping that gravity would do the trick. It didn't, so they put me on to a syntoconin drip to intensify the contractions I was having. Luckily I was hooked up to the monitor because the 1st big contraction that I had made my little girls heart beat drop to 50 and stay there. They examined me and found that my cervix had closed (god knows what my body was doing) so the next thing I knew I was on my way to theatre and my little girl was delivered.
She is beautiful and perfect in every way and smells divine. DH is also breaking my heart because he's all big and strong and she's so tiny and delicate looking and he is so gentle and tender with her. Ds is being a treasure and keeps saying 'I love my sister three' which is at the top of his scale!

So, in short, a very happy family. Now if we could just tackle this breast feeding lark....

pol26 · 22/09/2006 22:04

Yeah- Well, done calvejoe!!! What a beautiful name!. Glad you're well and your DS is taking to her too!

redz · 22/09/2006 22:31

Congrats again Calvemjoe, Elizabeth Marie sound georgous!

Liquid Clocks, dont you worry about being alone I'll still be here!! and at 40+4 who knows when my lo will come!
My hosp gave me a sweep when I was 40+1 didnt know some places waited longer. At least their the same on the overdue 10 days then induce front. I have some comfort in knowing my baby will be here (whether he/she likes it or not!) by next week friday

I had pains from 2am last night right through to 10am this morn I really thought "it" had started but all stopped this morning. It was really bad cramping pains low down. But now babys just moving around quite comfortable.
Oh well just have to wait a little longer to meet lo.

Coriander73 · 23/09/2006 08:53

Lovely story Calvemjoe..congratulations Mine was an attempted vbac also but ended in section...but hey, two beautiful babies is what we have now!!!

Congrats to all who had babies, I havent read thru yet as I had mine last sunday! Baby woodelf - actually known as Alexander arrived lunchtime in a beatiful waterbirth, however mum had third degree tears and ended up with surgery but so happy anyway! He is georgeous and I was allowed home just the other day. Will read posts once the stream of visitors has diminished - will post properly and get piccies up if DH helps me. Hugs to everyone and their babies (to be).

Woodelf · 23/09/2006 11:07

Pg hormones! Alexander arrived on Sunday 17th and weighed in at 7lbs six, 55cm long so barely fits the newborn stuff!
Hugsxx

MANY CONGRATULATIONS

redz · 23/09/2006 11:43

Hi Puppy,
Someone in the same boat! Well you were due before me! At least I know im not alone.
Im sure it will happen for you soon. Yeah it is sooooo irritating because you think this is it! Its going to happen and then nothing!
My family all placed bets when lo would arrive needless to say they are all out of pocket! One cousin has her bets down for today but I cant see it happening some how.
I really didnt want to be induced had hoped it would happen of its own accord but it really doesnt look like it. Because of all the stories of more pain and some people ending up with c-sections its making me nervous.
My dp was 2 weeks overdue when he was born whereas I was born at 31weeks I was hoping this lo would meet us somewhere in the middle but looks like lo truly takes after his/her daddy.

liquidclocks · 23/09/2006 17:29

Congratulations Woodelf! What a lovely name - can't wait to see a pic!

Puppy & Redz - still got fingers crossed for you both!

  • green face is for sickness today - haven't been able to eat a thing! Please baby don't come today, mummy's got NO energy for pushing! Awful night's sleep too because of nausea... sorry for whinge, DH is a bit fed up of me, but then he did go and buy donughts to try and cheer me up ? Haven't been able to even look at them!
homemama · 23/09/2006 20:27

Congratulations, Woodelf! Ouch at 3rd degree tears and stitches though! I don't believe the whole thing about forgetting the pain, I haven't from either birth. I think it's just that we look at them and know it was all worth it.

LC, I was very sick the night before it started so maybe lo is coming.

Thinking of all you ladies still waiting especially when I realise I can now bend over and tie my own shoelaces again!

So far Lizzie is feeding every 3hours in the day and going 4hours at night which is great. Probably because she's such a fatty!

angelfaces · 23/09/2006 21:51
