Hi All,
Congrats to Calvemjoe!
Mimpin maybe those pains were onset of labour? my friend had pains like that for two days then went into established labour.
I have an appointment tommorow aswell think im gonna follow you and ask for a sweep too, hopefully it will get things moving.

mimpim · 19/09/2006 00:07

Yeah, that would sound about right redz

What happens when the pains no longer feel like period pains and in fact feel like stabbing pains eminating from my groin out over my hips??
V painful!
But hospital is half an hour away and I don't want to waste my time, especially at this time of night, or anyone elses with pointless midnight trips when it might just stop as it did on Sunday!!

Help!!

Sorry I know this is pointless, as everyone is tucked up in bed! But I am trying to kill time and distract myself between the pains.

Marls001 · 19/09/2006 01:46

Mimpim - I'm on, as it's only 7:45 pm here. Hoping for the best for you!! I suppose if they begin coming at regular intervals then you'll know what they are ...

liquidclocks · 19/09/2006 08:40

Calvemjoe has her baby - finally! Congratulations!!! Well done!

Mimpim (might go and hide after this so you can't beat me up) - it sounds like you had a run of very strong BH's. When you go into labour it will probably hurt more (I say probably because there is a very small percentage of women out there who don't find it that bad) but a good friend's benchmark for going to hospital has been when she can't talk throught the contractions and they make her cry - I have to agree, those are the 'real' ones. BUT - don't worry, sounds like it is all moving and should get going soon - see if you can have a sweep today/tomorrow and that might help.

Congratulations Calemjoe - you must be relieved!!! I hope you're home very soon.

Mimpim, have to agree with Liquid I'm afraid... The contractions that are the "real thing" mean you can't breathe properly - I found that I was having to breathe through - big breath in when it was coming and breathing out saying "relaaaax".

apwd · 19/09/2006 10:46

yet again I've cleaned and cleaned. I have a terrible headache and am feeling sooo fed up. I have pains from the sweep which are painful but not contractions which is getting me down. not even due till thursday but I really am well and truly fed up.
sorry to moan. anyone else feeling crap?

puppy · 19/09/2006 11:06

Thats it i'm taking my ball home, still no movement from me [stamps foot] . Lots of comments that it ust be a girl because i'm late wonder if that holds some truth?

Feeling lots better thanks apwd and liquid. DH has taken some leave as I can't do the school run, DS school is at the other side of town.

Congratulations on baby Elizabeth mr and mrs calvemjoe

Apwd, sorry your feeling down, i am understanding how you are feeling and have been cleaning like mad here too, just scrubbed the deepfat fryer and waiting for the new handle and filters too arrive. Its a ggod one and cheaper to buy new bits than the fryer itself.

I'm feeling quite house bound as if i walk too far the pressure from the head and the spd is quite unbearable but won't be long now, see consultant tomorrow.

compo · 19/09/2006 13:08

congratlations to calvenjoe and to her dh. Hope you are all holding up okay those of you who are left. Am I right in thinking we haven't heard from Normsnockers since her section? Looking forward to you all joining our antenatal thread soon

ezridax · 19/09/2006 13:32

Hi all Just to let you know that baby Ismaaiil (not sure about the spelling yet- pronounced ismaaeel)came along in the early hours of Sunday 10th of sept.
FAB labour! Tough breast feeding getting better tho.

We had to stay in hospital for 6 days and i'm totally run off my feet - in a nice way.

Not had chance to read threads but congrats to all that have had their little ones .

ezridax · 19/09/2006 13:34

Oh and i recommend tens i got the hosp at 6-7 cm and had baby with gas an air in 2hrs 48 mins :0

Flumpybumpy · 19/09/2006 13:52

I'm still here too!! Nothing happened after v painful sweep on Friday and I am now 3 days o/d.

Feeling really heavy and fed up.

So far have tried RL tea, RL tablets, fresh pineapple, curry, fajitas, sex, walking loads and had a sweep. This baby is not going to be persuaded to come out no matter what I try.

Got consultant appointment tomorrow and I am going to beg, plead and bribe for an induction date as I can't go on much longer!!!!

Sorry for depressing post but really feeling fed-up and miserable today.

Coriander73 · 19/09/2006 14:53

Big Congratulations to Calvemjoe, Normsnockers, Coriander and Ezridax so happy for you all.x

Flumpybumpy and apwd know exactly how you feel, I had a hosp appointment they done a sweep (which was painful) when I was then told by the doctor that it hadnt quite worked due to my cervix being prosterior through my floods of tears I couldnt even hear her when she was explaining what that meant They've given me an appointment for next tues if baby not here by then I'll get my induction date probably 2-3 days later.
I just feel so fed up now the slightest thing makes me cry mw was very sympathetic though which helped. I mean is it NORMAL for me to be feeling this fed up? I feel like everyone else I know managed fine when they were od.

Mimpin how are you? still getting pains? Hope it starts for you soon

puppy · 19/09/2006 19:26

Congratulations on baby ismaaiil ezridax

Congratulations to coriander and norms on your baby jacks

Doesn't seem two mins since we were on the we want to fall by fall thread waiting for our bfp's, wonder how micku5 is getting on

Well done to you all and I hope the recovery is a speedy one for you

I love all these new arrivals, lets have more soon!

liquidclocks · 20/09/2006 05:51

2 baby Jacks and and an Ismaiil! Wonderful news, congratulations to the new mummys!

If you're looking at the time of the post then yes, I'm mad. Have bee awake for 3 hrs with extremely painful legs (???) and backache, codeine's not touched it so I've taken pity on DH and left the bed so he can get some sleep.

Redz - yes it is normal to feel completely and totally fed up by now so don't add that to your worries - ae've spent 9 moths building up to this point and it's frustrating when it doesn't happen when you expect it to, big hugs to you, it'll all be over soon.

Have to move, legs hurt... late pg is weird!!!

clairemow · 20/09/2006 08:39

Congratulations to Calvemjoe, Normsnockers, Coriander and Ezridax - hope recovery is speedy. Norms, such a shame about the vomiting - hopefully it's all over now...!!

Redz, sounds normal to me, I was teary and fed up even though DS2 was 3 days early, so can only imagine how you feel. Look after yourself.

trace2 · 20/09/2006 08:50

congrats to all but COMPO and
corrie so pleased for you two my cyber buddies! ill wait for your anouncements

Myrtle1 · 20/09/2006 10:48

Congratulations on arrival of all the new babies!

We went round to a friends house for dinner last night and had a huge meal and I was stuffed. Then all last night from about midnight I've been getting pains every 10-15 mins for about 30 seconds each. I've been having (beware tmi) pink/brown discharge but its not blobby like I thought a show should be. What do you reckon? Could it be the start of something?

liquidclocks · 20/09/2006 11:49

Might be myrtle - ring your delivery suite about the discharge though just to check they don't need to do a swab - is it very runny? If it isn't mucousy it might be that your waters have a leak and they (and you) need to know if that's the case - fingers crossed for you!

Myrtle1 · 20/09/2006 12:01

Thanks Liquid. Its got more mucosy now and more has come out. I rang delivery ward and they said to take paracetamol and use a hot water bottle and then phone again if waters break or contractions get longer and shorter apart. They said the contractions might wear off. So have put Tens on and am going to try and rest.

compo · 20/09/2006 12:45

congrats to all the new additions and thanks Trace2 if you pop back in
Good luck Myrtle - sounds like things are happening

liquidclocks · 20/09/2006 13:07

I've got my TENS on too! I can just us both there, buzzing away.... (wish mine was for proper contractions though, not just this bl^*dy leg and back pain!).

tassis · 20/09/2006 14:05

Well I've finally had time to read the news from the past 5 days and what an exciting time it's been.

Firstly to send sympathy vibes to all those who're fed up and still waiting. Hope you're OK.

Secondly, Myrtle and LC, sounds like your time has come - wooohoo! Good luck, eat lots just now while you still can (I was STARVING straight after)and we're all looking forward to hearing your news.

compo congratualtions on the birth of your daughter. I can't believe her dramatic entrance to the world. Hope your dh wasn't too gutted to miss out.

Dreamydowler lovely to hear you've had a little girl. do pop back when you can and tell us her name

homemama we shared a due date and it looks like our wee ones share birthdays. Welcome to baby Elizabeth. 9lbs 8oz - no wonder you're feeling a little bruised! Well done!

mabel I love the name Freddie and I think he also shares Lucy's birthday. Wow at 10lbs!! Ouch at having to rush across the city to a different hospital while in labour.

(can I just say you all have great taste in books. maybe we should start a Sept mummies book group!)

cal lovely to hear about Elizabeth's safe arrival. hope you're home now and things are going well

ezridax congratulations on the birth of ismaaiil and well done on getting to 6/7cms with only gas and air!

Cori fantastic news. I love the name Jack (it's our surname!). Look forward to more details.

Norms - lovely to hear of your Jack's safe arrival. And you're already under the weight you were when you got your BFP!!! Wow.

Right, this post must be very long. Will post again with all the details of Lucy's arrival...

tassis · 20/09/2006 14:17

OK, here are the gory details.

I went to bed on Thursday night and was having a few tightenings, but nothing particularly sore. Went to the loo at 11pm and was alarmed when I had quite a heavy bleed. Phoned labour ward and they were keen that I went straight in. Got my brother to come and sleep here with ds. Was in hospital about 11.30pm, still bleeding. I was very very relieved to hear baby's heartbeat. I was stuck in a horrible admissions room and they monitored the hearbeat for about 45 mins. Doctors eventually arrived (first doc looked about 12, thankfully she called her senior to come too!) and they did an internal. Only 1cm (which I'd been about a fortnight before). So clearly not in labour and yet they didn't want me to go home. That was about 1am.

About 1.45 they decided to move me from the horrible admssions room. The contractions had kicked off and I had my TENS on so they decided I could have a room in labour ward, but I think the midwife thought it'd still be hours as she left me for about 30 mins. Contractions very quickly got very sore but as I'd been 1cm less than an hour before I thought I was just being pathetic and I was trying v hard to hold off gas and air and just use TENS. 2.15am started on gas and air which can i just say is FANTASTIC. I love it. Can't remember a lot from then on except it was sore. Felt a lot of pressure "down below" the whole time. I was standing at the side of the bed. Dh was great passing me the G&A and the water and being positive.

Lucy was born at 3.37am and weighed 7lbs 8oz. The placenta got a bit stuck which wasn't fun, but it eventually came out too. And i had NO STITCHES!!! I can't believe what a difference that makes. I just feel so much better than last time.

We got home about 6.45am.

Lucy is gorgeous with a head of black hair. She had an unsettled first couple of nights but since then she's been a dream baby. She breastfeeds pretty much 3 hourly and sleeps most of the time in between. We're completely smitten!
