I too have hit the "I'm exhausted" stage. I'm 28wks on Monday.
I had my 28wk midwife appointment yesterday at home which was nice. Pee test, bloods to check my iron levels, BP, heartbeat was nice and strong and also had my bump measured. She seemed happy with everything Smile I was worried I was going to measure big as I was chubby to start off with but she obviously didn't seem concerned! I mentioned that I was hoping for a water birth and I have to go to a water birth evening at the unit so I'm going to get myself booked in!
I'm off out for a meal tonight to celebrate our store being open for year! Hope everyone is having a good weekend x

LondonJen · 06/07/2014 13:20

Eugh I feel dreadful. Sorry others are too.

I don't know if it really is that baby is now head down but my bump has changed or got bigger or all three and I am SO uncomfortable. Pilates yesterday was tricky as I could tell bump was different. I'm having more trouble bending and getting up the last 2 days, it's actually hurting to do so. My pants suddenly really cut in and I need to get the next size up, even though I already sized up around week 16 I think it was. Mostly I feel so so sick, and very close to actually being sick.

26+4 today. Hoping this is a blip and not the begining of bad times.

Has anyone bothered to buy 'maternity' pants instead of normal knickers? Wondering if they would be worth it, maybe be more forgiving in the leg holes?!

cabster · 06/07/2014 14:45

That reminds me! Larger ladies: get some large disposable knickers for your hospital bag.

(TMI alert)

I bled all over the cotton pants I'd packed in my hospital bag after DD was born, the midwife kindly gave me some disposables but they would barely have fit Kate Moss

pinkfizzsparkles · 06/07/2014 15:13

mum2 I'd be taking a bucket bed with me! I wouldn't do stairs 4 times a night! I too am weeing 3-4 times a night. The only positive is it forces me to change a sides so my hip ache isn't as bad.

goats I'm getting kicks that feel like it's feet are protruding through my cervix. Feels wierd!

london I never bothered with maternity knickers I just buy BIG pants from primark for a few quid. I'm in them now, they're unsightly but comfortable. Definately more accommodating in the leg holes.

We went out for a few hours this afternoon and I'm exhausted!! I'm currently having a siesta! I feel like my 'mini blooming' phase has passed already!

ExcitedCJ · 06/07/2014 15:19

Me too you guys! My hormones have gone nuts, all my loved ones are annoying me, my skin looks like that of an akward teenager, I am having trouble sleeping, 5am seems to be the new 7am! And I am constantly wrecked. Which reminds me - no more Mumsnet, off for a kip. ZZZzzz

JellyBeansHaveNoAgeLimit · 06/07/2014 15:46

I have some maternity pants & they are my most comfortable! I can't seem to find any others that don't but in at my thighs. That could be because i refuse to accept that i am fat enough for size 18-20 though Sad

goats, i believe those kicks are called fanny daggers Grin. My MIL told me she got them so bad when she was pregnant she actually went into a public loo to check for a foot sticking out of there!

YellowWellies · 06/07/2014 16:04

I've gone for cheapy supermarket pants in 'lardy' size Blush . They'll get good wear after when my bits are too tender for anything but applecatchers.

JellyBeansHaveNoAgeLimit · 06/07/2014 16:34

A few of the ladies on my home birth group are making 'padstickles'. Maternity pads soaked in essential oils then put in the freezer to sooth swollen lady parts Grin. Not sure id like it tbh but each to their own!

Me23 · 06/07/2014 16:54

Agree with others london do not buy disposable tey are only fit for supermodels and so uncomfortable! Primark 5 pack in black that u can throw away much more cosy and forgiving.

Bought a few baby gros and vests in mothercare sale today also got a gro swaddle. Which brings our grand total of baby items up to 7! Still haven't got buggy or crib/Moses! We're not bothering to buy oct yet as it won't be used till baby is approx 6 months and te spare room hasn't been decorated for 9 yr old dd to move into yet.

Afternoon all- well after my last night shift Friday night and a trip to Ikea today followed by nursery gloss work, shoving things in the loft and motivating DH to get everything out of room ready for carpet fitting tomorrow... I'm shattered!
28 weeks today and think I just had my first ever BH- felt like really bad trapped wind and moved across my bump!
Sorry some of you are also feeling crap, but we're on the home stretch now Smile

fedupofrainydays · 06/07/2014 18:29

I too bought primark pack of pants for last couples weeks preg and post birth - size 16 to 18 and normally (pre preg) a size 10!! So comfy and will be getting them about again for this preg! My current size 12 pants feel a bit snug now so already thinking of upgrading to the big ones!

YellowWellies · 06/07/2014 18:35

I'll be wearing my big pants and maternity trousers for weeks after the birth. I'll be sad to put my mat jeans away!

As for post birth pads - sad but as my stitches were healing I did a happy dance every time I put on a fresh pad - a pal recommended me to put a bottle of BP distilled witch hazel water (£1.50 from the pharmacy or first aid section in Boots NOT witch hazel essential oil as that would sting like f*ck) in the fridge and just dowse a mum maternity pad with it before use. Chilled, soothing, almost bliss! Smile Helps with healing too.

fedupofrainydays · 06/07/2014 18:42

I totally vouch for sitting in a shallow bath with a few drops of tea tree oil and same of lavender oil every day for 10 mins. Cleansed as well as soothed. I was scared to look or touch down there so this was def the best route for me!!

YellowWellies · 06/07/2014 18:50

Fed up hell yes!

Pregnantagain7 · 06/07/2014 19:30

Hi all another one starting to feel very achy, the bottom of my bump aches, my hip aches and I'm making ooof noises when I get up off the sofaGrin
I second and third extra big cheap pants I carried on wearing them long after I had Ds! They're so comfy but not the most attractive things I'm amazed I got pregnant again, pulling pants they are not Grin
Think we have finally agreed on a name if it's a boy- Matteo we both like it and it goes well with Ds's name which is Luca it also goes well with the two dds as well.
I've still not bought or done a single thing yet am starting to get twitchy really need to get cracking!

YellowWellies · 06/07/2014 20:00

We've been kinda guilt tripped into a flying visit south to visit the ILs. So we've just spent £350 on flights down there for a long weekend at the start of August when I'll be 28 weeks. If I go into prem labour there will be so many passive aggressive "I fookin told you sos" from me Envy . DFIL has Parkinson's and his weight has ballooned to over 20 stone so its difficult for them to travel as DMIL struggles to push him in a wheelchair. But flying, heavily pregnant, with a toddler and using up precious holiday (they're pensioners whereas DH is trying to save holiday for after the birth) isn't exactly going to be shits and giggles either. I hope I still have happy preggers hormones by then Blush

Kirstipops · 06/07/2014 21:17

28+1 today and like others I'm starting to feel a bit the worse for wear! Left hip feels achey, insides feeling squished, becoming easily tired out, emotional and my face is a bit pimply too, it's like puberty and onset of flu in one! 8 weeks on Friday til maternity leave tho, yay!
Pregnant Matteo is a lovely name :) I'm jealous you have a name picked!
Yellow that sounds like a tough trip, hopefully it's worth the effort and you have a nice weekend of it.

God I should prob buy new pants as well....getting a bath fitted would be nice too, we just have a double shower cubicle thingie that's murder to clean (I had an emotional tantrum over this earlier today so it's still fresh in my mind haha!!)

porcito · 06/07/2014 22:43

Also starting to ache all over. Just went to the cinema and was THAT person who couldn't sit still the entire time. Huffed and puffed my way through the film. Going to be terrible at labour, I know it. Can't even sit in a comfy cinema chair without moaning!

Pregnant, lovely name. That was on our list for a boy too, really like it.

I bought giant pants from Walmart when my ageing boss took me right at the beginning. Was highly disconcerting to be buying the same packets as her. those of you that remember the bra incident, you can see the theme. I miss Primark! And Mothercare! And Ikea!

yellow sounds like a nightmare! Hopefully it will bank you some favours for the future!

ohthegoats · 07/07/2014 07:49

Flippin eck - the labia ache last night (and still this morning), is quite impressive. I'm guessing it's about ligaments, because it's not in my vadge, and it's not around my cervix, it's genuinely in my labia. Like stabbing - one stab last night when I tried to stand up straight knocked me over on to my knees. Not enjoyable.

mrsb87 · 07/07/2014 07:52

kirsti we have the same issue, we have a massive shower which is a pain to clean (really hard water here!). We have bought a bath (it's a lovely deep double ended freestander!!!) But we have to wait for fil to finish decorating his en suite then we're on holiday next week so it won't be for a couple of weeks.
ah yellow what a nightmare! At least you won't have them just showing up unannounced any time soon.
I've got a few pairs of matalan's finest pants, in could to with more though.

mum2kiss · 07/07/2014 07:56

I wondering if the 24-48hrs of complete exhaustion was the sign of a growth spurt. Last night we sat on the sofa and watched and alien style performance from this little one! We've watched my bump jumping around before but this was full on rolling movements that moved my bump from side to side! Dp was well impressed lol! I felt a bit sick...

Me23 · 07/07/2014 07:59

Wow i know i haven't slept well since I got pregnant but I averaged a combine total of approx 2 hours sleep last night. I am truly a zombie now! Good thing I'm off today will try to catch a nap. The dark circles under my eyes are hideous I must invest in some of that touché Elat everyone raves about.

ohthegoats · 07/07/2014 08:01

but this was full on rolling movements that moved my bump from side to side

Yep, I had that. It was happening while I was at school - one of the kids noticed it from across the room. Then we all sat and watched while I felt nauseous!

mum2kiss · 07/07/2014 09:37

me23 that sounds miserable :(

I don't feel so exhausted today so let hope this continues...definitely on the downward slope to the school holidays now...I've managed to secure quite a bit of time off but will still need to find ways to entertain Dd!

I was probably emotionally drained with my sis moving away too...It really is tough when you're accustomed to having family close by.

goats I found the alien thing nauseating too! Dp said no wonder I was so tired with all that going on in there!

This pregnancy is really kicking my arse though! I didn't feel anywhere near as uncomfortable and lifeless last time around!
