I need to get myself to a car boot!!

Ladylel · 29/06/2014 18:33

As per Tilly-monster we went pram ogling today. After twin/tandem/double whatever you wanna call it however; it Involved a toss up between oyster max, icandy apple2pear or peach2blossom, and a bugaboo donkey. As we're on a budget oyster max has been our winner the whole way through. So many choices, Benefits for all of them, very few faults just the cost, hence OM coming tops.
Decisions are never ending with one baby let alone being responsible for the safety and well being of two little lives!

CatFaceCrayola · 29/06/2014 19:41

Sat with ice packs down my top as my nipples are hurting so so much and cold is the only thing that stops it!

DrewsWife · 29/06/2014 19:47

catface. this made me lol. simply because that was me last week. pregnancy does nothing for our dignity eh. Grin

speaking of dignity. dare I utter the words... perineum massage!!! Confused keep hearing these words!!

PourquoiTuGachesTaVie · 29/06/2014 20:05

Don't worry Drew, you don't have to think about perineal massage until 34 weeks. I have an info sheet saved and I think I'll ask dh for help... it'll probably be the only time I can ask him to give me a massage without him moaning about it. Grin

As this is my second I would have thought I'd be more relaxed, however I've found that there are a lot of things I've wanted to research or wish I'd known when I had ds. I want to be in control of this as much as possible, whereas with ds I was just happy to get it all over and done with and just did as I was told. I now have opinions on things like birth plans. It's quite scary how my attitude has changed!

Somersetgirl1990 · 29/06/2014 20:08

Drew my mil suggested I look it up - she's a midwife and said that people that ride horses have a harder perineum because of it Shock

PourquoiTuGachesTaVie · 29/06/2014 20:11

Oh and I have to say, having experienced the "ring of fire" without any preparation, perineal massage doesn't scare me at all. Grin

If anyone is interested in knowing a little of what the "ring of fire" feels like, the best comparison I've ever come across is this:

Open your mouth as wide as you can then put your fingers in the corners of your mouth and pull as far as you can (obviously don't do yourself any damage!) until you can feel a "burning" sensation. That's the closest you can get to what crowing is actually like ime (although obviously everyone is different etc etc etc).

I feel someone should have prepared me for that before hand so I'm happy to help out for anyone else who thinks forewarned is forearmed!

DrewsWife · 29/06/2014 20:17

oh lordy .... so its an actual thing..... arghhh. where did you get the sheet from? and I dont actually even know where it s but I have a fair idea lol. Grin

I will go google and see if I can find a fact sheet. I take it there is a set routine for it ...

eeeeek.

its my second too. dd is 18 now and I have forgotten a huge amount. but I know what I want for birth and its not what my consultant suggested lol... how they can base this one on a pregnancy 18 years ago. who knows. Smile

DrewsWife · 29/06/2014 21:38

oh meant to share this. :) had this taken over a week ago but as i usually use the mobile site i couldnt post it.

Awww that's so cute drew :) has anyone had any luck guessing gender to do with the nub? I have no idea what it even is haha but would be interested to know if you can see it in my scan pic?

oohdaddypig · 29/06/2014 22:06

Gorgeous pics.

I know I talk crap but drew that looks like a little girl's face to me Grin

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 29/06/2014 22:22

I came across "perineal oil" in Boots yesterday and was too afraid to google, but I imagine it lies somewhere in my not-too-distant future...

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 29/06/2014 22:23

Perineal; not the same as perennial.

PolytheneGirl · 29/06/2014 22:26

Holy crap guys! I'm booking my ELCS! Shock

DrewsWife · 29/06/2014 23:20

somerset girl, i am laughing hard here.... how relaxed does your baby look! all he needs is a mocktail and some sunshine and voila!!! relaxed sunbathing baby hahahaha :) seriously an amazing picture.

Ohdaddypig i put out a call for the Nub theorists. one so far and girl is the guess ;)

DrewsWife · 29/06/2014 23:21

Somerset girl ... i have no idea what a nub is or looks like but i guess yours is a boy ;)

PunkyPod · 29/06/2014 23:21

Ooohhh Catface I'm a bit of a sling junkie... But going along to a sling meet would be your best bet. They'll let you try some out and see what works best for you. DH is a mei tai kinda guy but I'm firmly a wrap girl. Dd is 2.1 and I still carry her as often as i can. It's been one of the loveliest experiences about parenting for me and now it's almost more enjoyable than ever because we have so many chats while she's there on my back. I'm really looking forward to wrapping the next one Smile

We got an Icandy strawberry with dd. The travel system thing worked for us although she was a bit ofa nightmare in the carry cot attachment. Child did not want to lay down. And the only way to get her comfy was to put a pillow in there for her to sleep on. Such a friggin princess pea! The manoeuvrability (sp?) of the Icandy is fantastic, it's slim, simple to push even with 1 finger. My only gripe is that the hood only goes up to a right angle. Doesn't do much for low lying sunshine. We recently got a maclaren quest and it's great. She sleeps really well in it, and the hood is awesome!

But I'm quite sure I'll be slinging this next one for the first few months at the very least. So the pushchair prob won't be used that much by me.

DrewsWife · 29/06/2014 23:23

peaceloveandbiscuits: Perineal; not the same as perennial.

snort Grin

DrewsWife · 29/06/2014 23:24

Polythene, how far along are you???

PolytheneGirl · 29/06/2014 23:32

I'm only 15+5 so not really booking it yet but I will probably have to have one again and reading about perineal massage made me a little thankful! Blush

I'm going to be going to our local sling library to try out some slings. I couldn't with DS as I fell down the stairs when he was 5 weeks and my back was terrible for months. I like the look of the mei tais but like the idea of a wrap too. I'll just have to try a load and see.

SassehMonsta · 30/06/2014 07:12

So, 16+2 & apparently under consultant csre, but not heard a peep. Booo. New midwife this week (hurrah!) jut hoping shes nicer, but from the brief phone conversation she is much better already. Kind of forgotten which day its on, and the name of the surgery (there are 4 on site...) so will wing it tomorrow and go down!

Sad news, a lady who lived a across the road from my parents passed away suddenly. Thy had 3 kids around my age and younger and the extended family are all very close and live the same end of the village. We used to holiday with them as kids and 2 of the family work for my mum, and its just a shock. :-/ Its not like we were particularly close these last few years but how horrid!

LotsaTuddles · 30/06/2014 08:55

Sasseh, that's so sad, hope you're ok.

I had a nct caboo carrier with DS and then the baby bjorn one. I can't use them anymore though as my back is so sore and he's getting heavy Grin

I'm thinking of the baby jogger city mini double because I don't really like tandem pushchairs and I'm quite small so would probably struggle to get up kerbs and when they're older they'll argue about who sits in the front. We have a qashqai so boot space isn't really an option. I do like the bugaboo donkey but don't have that kind of money to spend on a pushchair

LisaC2611 · 30/06/2014 09:31

We have looked at loads of prams and still don't know what I want. We have a large boot so that's not an issue. My sister who had my niece 10 months ago gave me a piece of advice which I wasn't particularly listening to which was to buy a secon hand chassis for the car seat and something like a mclaren once they are old enough to go into a push chair, however when I took my niece out a few weeks ago in her icandy I am now taking that advice very seriously. Took my niece on a London bus and could not get the pram through the aisle because the wheels were too wide and whilst I don't plan on going in a London bus too often it really did make me think twice about what we buy.

Took our little bean to an Elton John concert last night in our home town. I'm sure I felt some flutters while the music was going, but not sure whether it was the vibration of the base! Great concert though.

Hope everyone is keeping well.

Sasseh sorry to hear about your mum's neighbour

Ladylel · 30/06/2014 09:51

Can't put finger on whether I am getting flutters, wind or cramp. Based on fact my dog used my stomach as a launch pad this morning. Shocked me more than anything.
Cramp isn't cramp cramp just an twinge. In 2 minds about calling epu for a quick consult if don't feel better by lunch.

Somersetgirl1990 · 30/06/2014 17:10

I'm sad that we only have 75
