Sorry - stupid phone. I haven't actually collapsed from it.

If you properly fainted, I would phone the midwife to get your blood pressure checked.

I was very anaemic at the end if my first preg but again, I didn't collapse, I just felt awful.

Poor you - it's a horrible feeling. I keep my blood pressure up by consuming salt on crisps etc, but I'm sure my midwife would frown if she knew.

CallingAllEngels · 28/06/2014 13:57

I managed to avoid it daddy so didn't actually blackout. I could feel it coming on in my head and my legs. Lucky that dh was in the next room as I collapsed on the bed in a heap.

Really scared me. I checked my blood pressure an hour later and it was fine, though my heart rate was slightly faster than usual.

I think I will just send them an email and then ring in Monday morning. Apart from being knackered and occasionally dizzy, I feel fine now.

Martie1 · 28/06/2014 15:26

catface poor you, there is nothing worse than not getting a nights sleep. And callingallangels get yourself checked out. And don't be worried about 'bothering' the mw because you feel ok now. You don't want it happening again.

My yoga class was lovely but I'm feeling very guilty now as I just scoffed a pot noddle. I must be craving salt again, it was yummy. Such a weird craving for me lol

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 28/06/2014 15:59

We went to Harvester last night for dinner and I asked DH to order me a strawberry lemonade from their summer drinks menu. They had run out so he ordered something equally fruity and delicious sounding: "pear sensation". It was delicious but after drinking almost a quarter of it we realised it had gin in it Grin DH valiantly said he'd drink it but as he was driving I felt duty-bound to drink some of it. I get drunk very quickly and had to be put to bed when we got in. DH feels very guilty about the whole thing but I'm just amused.
And I'm having brie for dinner. Shall I phone SS now or later?

htbftm · 28/06/2014 16:58

Calling I had a similar experience at my mums this afternoon :( Came completely from no where. Didn't actually faint, but came very close, and it left me quite dizzy and heady. Its worried me it could happen again when i'm on my own or worse when i'm driving:-/

CatFaceCrayola · 28/06/2014 17:16

martie I won a bargain dreamgenii on ebay before...so fingers crossed for a decent sleep soon!

I also keep wanting a pot noodle, not eaten one for about 15 years. I've resisted so far, but we shall see...

and Somerset we're due date buddies I think and I haven't felt anything yet either...grumble grumble. I know that little Bubble is wriggling about as could hear it with the heartbeat but definitely not felt anything yet. Getting impatient!

I had a weird fainty moment at about 12/13 weeks but didn't manage to catch myself and came crashing down on the hard kitchen floor. Felt dizzy and light headed (and bruised!) afterwards but nothing similar since then

nickyjlees · 28/06/2014 17:23

somerset I'm 18+2 and still haven't felt anything which is very frustrating. It's my first and I have an anterior placenta so mw said it could be a number of weeks still before I feel anything and not to worry. Have scan at 20 weeks so hoping that will show that all is ok. I know some people that haven't felt anything up to 24 weeks.
catface I feel exactly the same about the whole boy / girl thing, I've been watching Hannah maggs and lucite and the bump on YouTube and they have lovely little boys and have managed to find some lovely clothes. I'm coming round to the idea of a boy now even tho I always kind of saw myself with a little girl. My partner is male so I think it would be quite nice to have 'my boys' if that makes sense! Either way I'm just so grateful to be here in the first place considering I was told I wouldn't be able to have children.

Somersetgirl1990 · 28/06/2014 20:07

Has anyone started looking at prams? I saw someone today with a bebecar pram - I have never seen anything so beautiful before! Had a look on the website and there are ok prices so I expect they're massive amounts Hmm and nowhere seems to stock the actual prams so I can't even go and have a play.

Hope everyone's feeling ok, those of you that are feeling crappy and faint hope you're feeling better! I'm on my phone so can't check!

LotsaTuddles · 28/06/2014 21:39

Think I'm going to get a baby jogger city mini double because DS is only going to be 15 months Somerset

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 28/06/2014 21:44

Irrationally angry that I have to sit through a bunch of other Glastonbury shite on BBC2 waiting for Metallica to be shown. They should have it as a separate billing so people like me know how long they've got to mess about before it starts.

Told you it was irrational. Although I chose this over Casualty and that looks to have been cancelled so meh!

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 28/06/2014 21:55

Re pram talk: I want a SilverCross Sleepover in navy. But £££.

CatFaceCrayola · 28/06/2014 21:57

Was feeling sad so DH dragged me out. We went and played on the kids play area which was super fun. Think I got a bit carried away reliving pre-pregnancy fun as now all of me aches.

also...I'm clutching a mixed fruit koppaberg shandy. I feel super guilty for drinking but it tastes glorious! Theres even a little picture of a pregnant lady with a cross through on the bottle. Worst mum ever!

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 28/06/2014 22:04

Pretend you didn't know like me, Catface! it didn't even taste of gin

CatFaceCrayola · 28/06/2014 22:36

Drunk approx 1/4 bottle of koppaberg and I feel tipsy. Taking will power but the rest is being poured away.

PourquoiTuGachesTaVie · 28/06/2014 22:37

I still have ds's baby jogger city mini, so I've bought the maxi-cosi adaptors for it so the car seat can be attached until the baby is big enough to go in the baby jogger.

I also still have ds's silver cross linear freeway, which is amazing if you're walking long distances with lots to carry. However it's a complete PITA on public transport, to put in the car or even store in the house (hence why I got the baby jogger).

And although I have many variations of sling (babyhawk mei tai, toddlerhawk oh snap, baba sling, lifft sling and kari-me wrap are the ones I've kept - I did have more but decided to get rid as they weren't that useful!), I still don't have a ring sling so I'm trying to decide which one. I get more excited about slings than prams tbh. Grin

CatFaceCrayola · 28/06/2014 23:00

pouquoi I've been looking at slings, too many different types though! What would you recommend?
I like the idea of the ones that are kinda just like a big scarf/piece of material.

PourquoiTuGachesTaVie · 28/06/2014 23:22

Well in my experience the babasling and the lifft sling were most useful up to about 7-9 months, when ds became too heavy to carry on my hip for an extended period of time, however the lifft was really handy to have (it's only one piece of material which is quite stretchy so it's not too baggy when there's no baby in it, so I used to just wear it over my clothes in case I needed to carry him). Dh loved it as it was really simple to use.

The mei tai can be used for newborns I believe, but I didn't get mine until ds was a bit older. Carrying an older baby on your back is so much easier than on the hip and ds liked being able to get in and out as he pleased (more so with the oh-snap as it has buckles rather than long ties).

I hated taking the pram on public transport or into the nearest cities so it was so much more convenient to have those. My mei tai was a custom design and cost me a fortune (plus bloody customs charges!) but I love it and will treasure it always!

The kari-me was bought too late to use for the intended purpose (I got it really really cheap Grin) so I'll be testing it on this baby! The babasling had too many straps and buckles to be really comfortable which is why I want the ring sling too. I think between a ring sling, kari-me and mei tai I'll have plenty of choice for the newborn stage!

So after all that I would say I definitely prefer simple (so one piece of material) over lots of adjustable straps and buckles etc.

However, dh is the opposite and likes the straps and buckles as he just sets it to his size and doesn't have to think about it or remember how to do the many different ways to tie the slings.

mopsytop · 29/06/2014 08:32

Catface according to NHS you can have one to two units once or twice a week so you could have had at least 3/4 of the bottle so I'd say ditch the guilt, as it is not needed.

Wrt prams/buggies I'd say before you buy think very carefully about what you'll need to use it for/size of storage space in house/car boot. If you use public transport a lot, wide or big prams/buggies a total no-no, same if boot or house is tight on space. Will you be going into shops a lot? If so, a buggy that turns well and is not too wide is preferable. Will you be walking up hills a lot? Think about weight/size of buggy. I live on top of very steep hill. As my child has got older, it has become increasingly more tiring to push buggy up, and I deliberately got one that isn't too heavy. All of these things are WAY more important than how the buggy looks as they will have a significant impact.

mopsytop · 29/06/2014 08:32

Oh and for slings I'd suggest going to a sling library or sling meet and trying a few different types to find what is comfortable for you before shelling out.

mopsytop · 29/06/2014 08:35

Oh and final bit of advice (sorry if I sound bossy! Blush ) but think hard before buying a travel system about whether you truly need it. Most people (not all, but most) that I know found them to be a waste of money in the end...

Pepsiaddict · 29/06/2014 09:40

We bought a silver cross surf and it's amazing though heavy for lifting in and out of the car. We also bought a bugaboo bee with a flight case as I flew quite a bit when dd was young and wanted a buggy that I could lift easily in and out of the car and was parent facing - at the time none of the available strollers were parent facing. Def agree with deciding whether or not you will use a travel system long term before investing in one. If you are going to be using public transport an umbrella folding pushchair is much more suitable.

Midwives /Drs are unconcerned re fainting - can get checked out in case it's due to anaemia but if it's low blood pressure they don't worry. It is horrible though, I hate the flashing lights, rushing sound in my ears and know if I don't sit down with my head lower than my heart I will pass out. V embarrassing especially as it happens on a daily basis and in front of clients... I stopped driving in my last pregnancy and will probably do so again - grrr.

tillymonster · 29/06/2014 10:49

We went pram-oggling yesterday!

I think in the end though we're going to buy a Silver cross freeway off a colleague at work, it's immaculate and comes with car seat , she's selling the whole lot for £150, which I think is quite a bargain, and I know and trust her, so I know the car seat has not been in any accidents etc. (the car seat has been used about 4 times!). Although now thinking we'll also buy a isofix base to easily attach the car seat, which is another £125!. These baby things are expensive!

Cossato have some really pretty pram/buggies, www.cosatto.com/products/pushchairs/ooba-travel-system/duck-egg they come in 1950's blues and yellows - they are about £800, (without car seat) and can't really justify that! Also the silver cross looks really nice and snug for our winter baby.

We'll get a lighter buggy/pushchair for when we travel, but not planning to go anywhere major in the first few months, and it seems that you get a lot more choice of lightweight options once the baby is 6 months+. Any recommendations for these?

Found a sling meet in Preston so will head along there in summer holidays.

DH has made such an effort to keep me happy this weekend - he's great! Been to the Caribbean Carnival today (which he knows I always enjoy and he couldn't really care less about) and was getting tired and achey waiting for the parade...he disappeared and came back with a newly purchased camping chair :)

Must wait til at least 20weeks before buying everything!! Too much restraint!

17weeks today

DrewsWife · 29/06/2014 17:15
