Ahh Bugs your post really made me smile :)

I don't lie in any more, I think I've come to terms with it, persuading myself it's my body/brain preparing me for the years to come! My sisters kids love their sleep though and are often not up until after her and her husband, that sounds nice Grin.

I'm 25 weeks today and I read that allegedly my DH may even be able to hear baby's heartbeat through my tum now, so he decided to give it a shot, and was squarely jabbed in the face Grin, clever wee bump hehe.

Loulou888 · 14/06/2014 08:54

I've been awake since 5. Awoken with a stinking cold and cough.....thanks kids! Feeling very tired and grumpy. Might see if I can persuade DH if we can go buy some baby bits to cheer me up.

ohthegoats · 14/06/2014 09:12

2 hours of incredible thunder and lightning here last night between 2am and 4am. I've only just woken up! It's very quiet out there too - I doubt many families with kids got much sleep - I was a bit scared of some of it! Felt like it was shaking the house.

mum2kiss · 14/06/2014 09:44

We had the same goats! Are you in the south east? It frightened me awake quite a few times! The lightning was lighting up the whole house and the crashes of thunder were so loud! Dd said she heard it but surprisingly didn't come in to us!

ohthegoats · 14/06/2014 10:23

Yep, we're in the south east. Am now just tired... and randomly over emotional, which is going to make me super fun for a day of moving boxes and stuff around the house ready for new windows next week. Living out of boxes isn't fun, and boyfriend constantly telling me that all the 'crap' we have is mine, doesn't help. It's not 'crap', those are my lovely things.. that I've not had use of for 9 months now. Stop slagging them off. Scream.

I have also just been investigating wardrobe stuff, and I fit totally fine into all my shorts and trousers (apart from the obvious bit of doing them up around the tummy), so my bum/thighs/hips haven't got any bigger. How come then that I feel MASSIVE all over?

Would probably be better for all if I just watched telly in bed all day with a huge box of strawberries and some nice old fashioned lemonade or something!

mum2kiss · 14/06/2014 11:32

I like the watching telly in bed all day idea! I'm pissed off this morning so have got a lot of sorting out and cleaning done lol!

Annoys me when my dp calls my stuff crap as well!

FlipFantasia · 14/06/2014 12:30

Yellow yup, did the same for our kids (they share a room). DD's cot is ikea but ds's bed is warren Evans and came with us from London (at 2.3 he went straight from an ikea cot to a regular single bed with bed rail). They'll go into ikea bunk beds when we need the cot for this baby next year. Drawers-wise, we just bought the cheapest solid wood, unfinished pine drawers (I forget the name), painted the frame white and the front with blackboard paint and added cool knobs. The kids love drawing on them!

Anyone who shares my love of bargains & painting furniture should check out ikea hackers for ideas. I also love upcycling free or dirt cheap old furniture. It is unbelievably satisfying!

Ahhh long carefree lie ins .... I think i remember those!

Thats what i miss most from my young free & single years... Now on the odd occassion i get a chance to do it my body clock is on auto pilot from about 6am ., then lie for about an hour trying to get back to sleep with thoughts of things i should get up and do:-tidying, washing, sorting, decorating, gardening, exercise etc !! The list is endless..

I also really miss having a good old booze up and dying all day in bed feeling sorry for myself :( then phoning a indian takeaway to cheer myself up ... But i really wouldnt change what i have now for all the money in the world (",)

So first time mummies ... Stay in bed as much as possible and enjoy having ur bed to yourself while u can;)

binkybunny · 14/06/2014 15:20

Just gone back to my bed for a nap. Had quite an energetic morning cleaning, laundry, walking into the village and putting shelves and rails into the nursery wardrobe.

Feel sick as anything now so having a lie down will DH is out for the next two hours!

We had a bit of a Gumtree spree today, collected our moses basket with rocking stand thingie then a bargainous starter set of 18 pristine preloved bumgenius v4 nappies including nappy bucket, 2 nappy bucket bags, 1 'travel' used nappy bag and a bunch of extra liners thrown in. (I'm going to have to look into some teeny wrap-type newborn-friendly nappies too for a bit too though just incase the wee one is a dinky little baby as DH and I were - any recommendations?)

So other than the drawers and swaddle, I still need all the same stuff as you Bugs!

I hadn't even given much thought to breast pumps untilpuppy and bugs mentioned them - what are the mums' experiences with them?

Me23 · 14/06/2014 16:02

Envious of first timers whose time is their own after work and weekends. I'm so exhausted and sleep deprived and suffering with headaches everyday this pregnancy is not an easy one.

I can't function well, after work I'm spent but obv have to try to carry on as best I can. work are not being sympathetic have only called in sick once since very early pregnancy and getting the feeling they think I'm making a mountain out of a molehill, yes of course it is normal to be tired but this is beyond that complete exhaustion where I cannot do menial tasks, you would think in my profession we would support each other, however I think as most of them have never been pregnant I'm not that suprised they don't understand.

Can't wait for mat leave need to try to catch up on months of sleep deficit.

On the bright side have started to see kicks from the outside since yesterday and getting much bigger kicks.

Kirstipops · 14/06/2014 16:14

Me23 that sounds really tough, no wonder you're looking forward to maternity leave! That's rotten your work aren't being very supportive, that really surprises me :(

mum2kiss · 14/06/2014 17:26

Need to do the dreaded food shop :( I've had to turn to pinterest for dinner ideas for the next week because my mind is just blank!

We haven't bought hardly anything...dp still keeps saying we've got ages yet! So I see lots of last minute panic buying in our future!

ohthegoats · 14/06/2014 17:30

We have got ages! Could do a basic shop to get through the first two weeks in half an hour in mothercare if we had to!

Does anyone know at what point you should worry about the baby being breech? Can it really turn right up to the last minute? Even if it's engaged prior to that?

mum2kiss · 14/06/2014 17:33

I like to pick up bits and pieces as I go so that we don't have to do one massive buy at the end...He thinks he'll pop out and get all we need during his paternity leave!

Not sure about how late a baby could turn. I would think that if head was engaged it would be unlikely to turn at that point but I'm not sure.

ohthegoats · 14/06/2014 17:38

Mine thinks he'll be going to the gym and doing DIY during paternity leave, and keeps talking about it as if his parents will be here to help him with the DIY. Sounds a great 'week off' for him, doesn't it. HAHA.

porcito · 14/06/2014 17:54

We're also in the bought hardly anything camp. In fact, bought nothing.

We're about to move house too with only a bed and washing machine. It's going to be an expensive July!

Today I have to go to my Year 13's graduation and am struggling to find a formal dress that doesn't make me look like a widow from the 1820s. Apparently pregnant Mexicans are not encouraged to leave the house for any social occasion...

I go between having absolutely no appetite and wanting to eat everything in sight. I've been here for more than two years and I still can't get used to the heat. Normally, wine would do when I was too hot and lazy to cook. Not any more!

mum2kiss · 14/06/2014 18:57

My friend said her hubby went to the gym and played golf every single day of his paternity leave!

Kirstipops · 14/06/2014 19:01

And when did they get divorced mum2kiss? Grin

mum2kiss · 14/06/2014 19:35

Lol! They are still together although she did tell me when a couple years ago that she hadn't slept in bed with him for 4 yes (ever since baby was born!)

mum2kiss · 14/06/2014 19:35

Years*

Loulou888 · 14/06/2014 20:42

I used a breast pump with dd on occasion. Found it uncomfortable unlike the natural suckle from baby. It's okay for odd occasion if used a lot it can actually start to let down your milk supply. I used it if I was having a night out so I could drink.
