My phone died last night before I got to share the Radley link and I couldnt be bothered turning on the laptop so here it is.... www.radley.co.uk/doodle-dog-large-baby-changing-bag/

My other choice was Cath Kidston but apparently they split really easy.

I do like the one you got too goats so I have given DH a choice. Its ny birthday in a month :-)

Loulou888 · 13/06/2014 07:02

Football..... Ds plays rugby now that's a proper sport unlike the gymnastic playing footballers!

binkybunny · 13/06/2014 07:31

Football free here too! DH is South African so not bothered by any of the teams and we're more into 'extreme' sports.

Also noone seems to be talking about the World Cup in Scotland!

Yellow that book looks right up my street!
Bugs I hate those days when you can't seem to drop feeling the rage, it's so exhausting!
Busy couple of days for me, getting our new car, plus hopefully picking up some baby bits from Gumtree sellers. Also feeling quite inspired about nursery ideas now I've had the time to look into it, going to decoupage an old chest of drawers which used to be in my room when I was a kid, a good project for maternity leave I think!

fedupofrainydays · 13/06/2014 08:09

Feeling a bit :(
Off on holiday tomorrow and was really looking forward to a nice break by the sunny, breezy sea and it's fucking raining :( for most of the week. Mostly upset for ds as if it's thunder that means no pool as it's dangerous with lightening. The ONE week we pick. Sods fucking law.

Sorry. You can tell I'm pissed off.

FrauEnglischLehrerin · 13/06/2014 09:33

LondonJen if you have a pram with a long handle then rock it back onto the back wheels and push it off the curb like that. Same for going up and down steps.

I have a bag from last time which I assume is still perfectly usable, so have my fingers in my ears (over my eyes?), but what do people do when they use a sling a lot? I would love to walk dd to kiga every morning (weather permitting) with the baby in a carrier, but what do I do when it suddenly poos on the way there?

I also hate football. Test match started yesterday, though, yippee!

Loulou888 · 13/06/2014 09:38

Oh no fedup that's what happened to us last year in the algarve. It rained nearly all morning but a few hours pm were decent enough. Fingers crossed it does change for you. Bloody typical.

Georgebythesea · 13/06/2014 10:26

Yellow I have that book and the breastfeeding one..Both are awesome! I just finished reading the bump one properly through and shall give it to my SO to read.A friend of mine wrote them and she is great :)

Georgebythesea · 13/06/2014 10:41

Has anyone come across anywhere that sells knee length maternity shorts? They all seem really short which just isn't me.

FlipFantasia · 13/06/2014 10:46

Love all the bag stuff! Though I found I didn't use mine much (can't even remember what I even went for now!). I never bottle fed, so needed to carry less stuff, There'll be no expensive bags for me this time but if there were I'd prefer something with a longer shelf life than just nappies (maybe a new Orla Kiely bag could be on the cards for my Sept birthday!).

I swear by the skip hop pronto (I think that's what it's called - the portable changing mat). I just bung stuff in that and use and attach it to whatever bag I'm using (which will by anything but my mulberry bag - I love handbags/bags and have more than I should but that one is for me alone and shall never be sullied by having a nappy or spare clothes in it!). I also have an ancient Orla Kiely bag I can use. The great thing about using washables is that you bung anything dirty in a wet bag which means it doesn't get a regular bag dirty.

Frau, sling wise, I use a v small across body handbag for essentials (wallet, keys, phone, snack bar) and then just use the skip hop pronto with a wet bag. Though if I'm out and about for longer I just load up whatever regular shoulder bag I'm using.

Bags really come into their own with older babies, where you're packing snacks and water cups and the like. Under 6 months and breast fed, you can travel light.

Nigh on impossible to see the World Cup here in the US. Would be easy to forget it's even on! I'll try and watch some stuff online but tbh I prefer watching the Tour (which means summer to me!).

FlipFantasia · 13/06/2014 10:50

George I've also found that with shorts. The ones I've seen here in the states are right cheek skimmers, not my style at all! I've actually cut up old (naff, boot cut) jeans I was passed on with my first 5 years ago. And a pair of linen trousers. So feeling a bit more set up for the hot summer we get here!

fedupofrainydays · 13/06/2014 10:56

Yeah, is crap as our one and only holiday this year!
Oh well, hopefully they have the forecast wrong.

Can I ask about flight socks - can I use those one they give you in hospital????

fatpony · 13/06/2014 11:20

Those bags are seriously tempting.

Does anyone know how/when to get the MATB1 form you need for your employer? My next medical appointment is early July and with a doctor, not midwife I think. Should I just ring the midwife?

Thanks.

Loulou888 · 13/06/2014 11:27

george next had some online. fatpony ring your midwife as doctors and midwives do not communicate, the midwife needs to give it to you.

MundayCakes85 · 13/06/2014 11:31

George I ordered some longer, looser shorts from Heavenly Bump- cost about £18. Been very disappointed with mat shorts/ trousers. When I'm looking my most heffalump-ish why would I want to wear skinny jeans/ thigh high shorts?!?
I'm working a lot of the World Cup matches so hopefully it won't bother me too much.
I went to my GP to get my MatB1 form this week, think by law you have to provide it by week 28.

Loulou888 · 13/06/2014 12:12

It's still annoying me that everything has to be done on line for clothes. Bought a medium top from new look for holiday. It's really lovely but there is no way it's a medium! So I've now got to order a large, go back into town to collect and get a refund.

Oklahoma · 13/06/2014 12:25

George I got a nice knee length denim pair from jojomamanbebe. They had a few different pairs.

We're going to Cornwall the week after next so I expect it will start pouring with rain soon. English summertime...

mrsb87 · 13/06/2014 12:40

I second okla, jojomamanbebe shorts have been great, wearing them today! I also got a really comfy pair of bootcut/flared jeans for £14.

binkybunny · 13/06/2014 12:42

fatpony I called the midwife to ask for my MAT B1 as my next appointment is the day I need to hand my form into work. She very rudely told me that they don't just hand them out willy-nilly and that I have to be examined first at my 24 week appointment (which I'm having late as they only run two mornings a week and they were full!).

I explained that work needs it by 15 weeks before due date and she told me that was rubbish and I can hand it in anytime which I'm fairly sure is wrong.

Don't know if your midwife will be more understanding but try giving them a call!

FrauEnglischLehrerin · 13/06/2014 12:53

Flip - I guess I may have to look at the skip hop thing then.

I also have shorts from JMB, but they are mid-thigh length. Do you others not find the over-bump elastic bit uncomfortable? I'm getting close to unpicking the seam and taking a pair of scissors to the elastic Hmm.

fedupofrainydays · 13/06/2014 13:21

Anyone any thoughts on the flight socks? Surely hospital ones do same kind of thing?

mrsb87 · 13/06/2014 13:24

frau I think I would be worried about them falling down if I took the elastic out! You could take that one out and get a bit of elastic that's longer from a sewing shop and pop that in?

Oklahoma · 13/06/2014 14:09

I just fold my elastic over so it sits under the bump.

fatpony · 13/06/2014 14:15

Thanks binkybunny - the very reason why it came to mind is become I am on the NHS email list for what your baby is up to (week by week kind of thing) and today's says: "If you work, you must let your employer know within the next three weeks that you're pregnant and the date you want to start your maternity leave. It’s important to put this in writing to qualify for maternity pay and benefits."
Then it links you through to the www.adviceguide.org.uk/england/your_money/employment_index_ew/maternity_leave.htm page which says you have to say by the end of the 15th week before your baby is due.
Going on my due date that would therefore be by the 4th July which is before my next appointment.
