I notice it when I'm sat down, after eating a meal and when lying in bed - more at night time than in the morning. I don't sit down much in my job, so it might be moving loads all day, but I don't notice it unless it's a really big whack.

Some days definitely more movement than others though, and I know I probably should take more notice of it, in terms of patter etc, but I quite like it when it's NOT moving so much - it's better than being kicked in the bladder all the time. Also have anterior placenta.

Today after the Lucozade in the hospital, I was sat in the waiting room and actually felt a full on somersault - feet moved up under ribs and everything, as if it was kicking itself round. Then back to bladder kicking.

mum2kiss · 12/06/2014 11:55

That's sounds normal bugs. Baby will need sleep and rest in there so I'd only worry if it WAS moving constantly! Might be an indication that the little bean doesn't need sleep and that wouldn't be any fun at all!

Kirstipops · 12/06/2014 11:56

Magic as CJ says I'm sure you'll feel more reassured after the test, sorry you've been put through this worry til then though.

Been on the internet again this morning looking for some nursery furniture inspiration (I reckon I'll want it mostly sorted before baby comes, saves me shopping/spending afterwards), until then though, what are all your baby sleeping arrangements for the first 6 months or so before baby moves into their own room - moses baskets, cradles, carry cot section of pram etc?

Goats is your glucose tolerance test for gestational diabetes? I'm wondering when I'll get that? (I'm 25 weeks on Saturday), enjoy your Magnum haha!

ohthegoats · 12/06/2014 11:56

Also, after significant exercise - like swimming rather than walking, I get a very quiet period, as if the weightlessness has put it to sleep or something.

binkybunny · 12/06/2014 12:00

magic hope all goes ok with your tests.

Buggerlugs I've found first thing in a morning (I often wake up on my belly and being kicked- it feels like an 'oi get off!) and in the evening either when I'm laying on the sofa or in bed. Sometimes I get after lunch kicks too which has been quite fun at work. The first few times I nearly jumped off my chair before realising what was happening Grin

DH still hasn't felt anything, but I'm not the slimmest and only just 23 weeks. Also I noticed this week has definitely been stronger. I can feel them, but I think that's because I know when and where they are happening.

I'm no expert but I don't think it would be constant as surely they must rest!

ohthegoats · 12/06/2014 12:02

what are all your baby sleeping arrangements for the first 6 months or so before baby moves into their own room

I'm dithering the same. I think I'm just going to buy a moses basket with rocking stand for now, and see how we go. That's only around £50, so if it doesn't work out and we have to buy something else quite quickly, it doesn't matter too much.

And yes, was glucose test thing. Presumably because I'm fat and 40! You might not get one. Hope it's alright, there's no sign of reasons why it might not be, but you never know. I'm already injecting one thing a day, could do without having to manage diet and blah blah too.

Kirstipops · 12/06/2014 12:03

I don't tend to feel much movement at all when I'm up and about and on my feet, mainly when I'm sitting/lying down really; and it's only since I've been trying to rest and keep my feet up the last couple of days that I've noticed just how much it moves, but as mum2kiss says, even then it's intermittent (I'm anterior too).
I'm impressed goats that you can tell which part is prodding/kicking you in the ribs, I can't even tell which end is which yet!

Kirsti we got a Winnie the Pooh swing crib for the first 6 months to go in our room and will be getting a cotbed to go in the nursery for during the day sleeping and when she goes in there from 6 months.

Our pram also converts into the most gorgeous moses basket on a rocking base to will use that if needed in the living room or when away for the first 6 months.

We also want to get everything while we have two good wages coming in. We are rubbish at savings so would have spent our disposable income anyway so might as well be super prepared!

puppythedog · 12/06/2014 12:24

Good Luck CJ, I can understand having a plan is helpful to manage your stress. How soon is the test and the results?

Goats... Mmmmmm Magnum Smile I was just saying to a colleague I really fancy one and then read that. I appreciated your comment about bonding the other day. I don't feel bad about myself for it I'm just jealous of those parents to be who are alreadying building strong coonnections.

As always, good luck ladies and I'm sure you're doing a brilliant job at all this.

ohthegoats · 12/06/2014 13:24

which part is prodding/kicking you in the ribs

Oh I'm guessing - but I recognise the feet kicking in my bladder/down low - sometimes it feels as if something is running on the spot. Definitely two things next to each other prodding one after the other. Then that same feeling went around under my ribs, and I had a woah feeling of slight ick.

gunwalloe · 12/06/2014 13:43

I had my first fist or foot come out of my belly last night I had forgotten how weird it looks.

Is anyone having trouble making decisions? I cant seem to make a decision and stick to it which really isn't like me

Good luck with your tests magic your in good hands at the FMC even though my harmony failed twice the detailed scanning made me feel reassured

YellowWellies · 12/06/2014 14:01

I was convinced with J it was his feet I felt all the time - but when he was born and I felt his knees I recognised instantly it was them. He was a wee upside down Cossack dancer!

As for sleeping arrangements I was warned off Moses baskets as noisy (when you're trying to sneak a sleeping baby in the crinkly wicker wakes them!) and only useful for a few weeks. We did without, we had a swinging cradle given to us which he slept in in the lounge (though preferred me!) and a bedside crib - the bednest at night. I can't recommend the bednest highly enough. It was awesome and utterly took the ballache out of night feeds. You don't even need to get out of bed!

Magic lots of luck chick.

My movements are pretty sparse at this stage. Walking, exercise and sex Blush. puts them to sleep - in the same way that after birth they like to be rocked to sleep. I get most noticeable movements either after a cold drink or at night in bed but that's probably because with a toddler I just don't notice during the day.....

goat - do you get your GTT results straight away? I've had two so far this pregnancy but got the results back immediately. Next one booked for 28 weeks and I will probably have GD by then.

binkybunny · 12/06/2014 14:56

A good friend has just offered us her Silver Cross 0+ car seat for free. I was quite determined to get one brand new for safety concerns, but we know them really well. They take good care of everything and it hasn't been involved in an accident. In terms of fitting, we have very similar cars so I can't see it being a problem.

Would you accept it or stick with getting brand new?

mrsb87 · 12/06/2014 15:07

I have a whole travel system from my brother and sister in law. I know it's been well looked after so I don't see a problem binky!

YellowWellies · 12/06/2014 15:09

Binky I'd take it!

Who was it earlier that asked if people were having trouble making decisions... Def me! I keep having to ask everyone elses opinion!!!

puppythedog · 12/06/2014 15:30

I'd accept it, definitely.

LondonJen · 12/06/2014 15:50

Magic sorry you've had an extra worry. Will be thinking of you though and hoping the test will bring you relief.

Good ebaying goats!

Buggerlugs oo no not constant. Sometimes in the morning but not always. Usually around 3pm, that's quite a regular slot! Then massive kicks/tippletails/bladder bouncing when have just been to loo so have to go again, are reserved for bed time -every night.

Kirsti I was going to get a crib (mothercare has one for £40) and use the moses basket downstairs but then my friend pointed out the pram would be downstairs so might as well use that. So now intend to do that and have moses basket upstairs instead. Will have to see whether little one outgrows it before 6 months -if similar size to me then unlikely but the sonographer did ponder over long legs!

Also, our hall isn't big enough so pram likely to be in living room anyway. We got the moses basket with a rocking stand for when my nephew came to stay last year it was £6 off ebay as no-one else bid! Love a bargain.

LondonJen · 12/06/2014 15:55

Oh, and is there a knack for handling curbs with a pram?! My test drive yesterday I managed to only pop 1 front wheel down instead of 2 -bit hairy!

Also didn't realise how big our front doorstep is! Ah well. All the more reason to get a carrier as well!!

ohthegoats · 12/06/2014 16:18

magic - blood taking woman said that they'd look at results tomorrow, then I'd only get a call if it was a problem.

Pregnantagain7 · 12/06/2014 16:39

Hi all hope everyone's feeling ok in this heat,I was pregnant through the heat wave last year and it was horrible seem to be coping so far.
magic hope everything goes ok with your test
goats gtts are rubbish rant they I have to have one every couple of months as I had gd with my second pregnancy but strangely not with my third
buggerlugs I also have an anterior placenta and I'm finding that there is no pattern to my movements (that I can feel) and cold drinks etc don't get it moving (or I just can't feel it)

I'm starting to really feel this pregnancy now all of a sudden I feel massive not just my bump but my thighs and arms. I always knew being pregnant with a 9yr old, a 3 yr old and a 9 month old would be hard but I am starting realise I may have underestimated how hard!
I have decided to have an evening with dp and go and eat tapas and drink a beer in the sunshine. God bless my mother for babysitting! :)
On my to do list tom is find a maternity dress for my sons christening next Sunday. No that's a phrase I thought I'd never say!! Grin

Its a funny business our perceptions of weather, isn't it? If I was back in the UK I would be agreeing that it was really hot, however for 6 days in a row the temp has been 40c or above, temp. previously mid/high 30's. It has lowered to low to mid 20's- about half of that two days ago and now I am freezing!!! If I find the mid 20's cold then how will I cope when I back in the UK in July- I have no clothing to suit the UK average temp now. Can see me in husbands/ fathers big jumpers, will look like a long dress on me, I am that short.

Magic good luck with harmony and hope everything is ok.

goats saw my ob on Tuesday and the latest round of routine blood tests include the one for GD. However, I dont have to fast!! No idea on that- will get a terrible drink, need to limit carbs- no probs there- but if doesnt work will need to wait/ fast for longer. I'm rehesus negative and they also test to see if I have made any antibodies.
