Kirsti hope you feel better soon. Have you tried using a gym ball to sit on? Someone on another thread has said it's really helped their back ache when sat at their desk? I'm trying to source one at work as I work in leisure. Thankfully my aches have not been as bad as yours but I do walk around like a 90 year old half the time!

London yes to baby mad. I struggle to think of other topics to talk about other than babies, baby clothing and nurseries and it's been like that since BFP! I think everyone at work is getting a bit fed up of it. Luckily my proper friends and DH are all v excited and love talking baby stuff with me Grin

YellowWellies · 11/06/2014 12:10

Jen yep me too. I have to resist the urge when I'm popping into Jonas' room when I go to bed to kiss him goodnight, to pick him up out of the cot and give him a cuddle. The urge to cuddle is risking a night waking!!! Normally the thought of disturbing a sleeping bear is anathema to me but I have such an urge to cuddle him all the time... blimmin hormones!

Afternoon all, been missing a while as super busy. Trying to catch up now. Kirsti hope your back feels better soon.
Anyone else had leaky boobs yet? I've woken up several times with just my left boob oozing clear stuff over the last week or so Blush
So glad to finally have some clothes that fit- did a big New Look maternity shop, should hopefully keep me going now.
Going to blitz the house this weekend- blaming nesting Smile

Yes baby mad over here too. Can't concentrate on work and would happily talk baby all day long. My sis is preggers with her 6th and I think she's beginning to tire of me constantly talking baby! Lol!

Dd is starting to come.round to the idea a bit more now. She announced the other day that we need to go to but libs next year because "the first child goes free and then you'll just have to pay for my brother or sister...or whatever it is you're having" Lol!

I've seen a deal on the buggy I want...dp just said "we've got ages yet". AAARGH!

Kirstipops · 11/06/2014 14:10

Thanks ladies, had a nice morning taking it easy, then my cat gifted me a "get well soon" dead sparrow Confused..
Gawd yes I'm baby daft too, making a conscious effort not to bring baby-chat up at work too much but luckily it's the first baby in years in my office so my colleagues are excited to talk about it too!
Buggerlugs I love getting my Bio Oil out and having a nice wee tum rub in the early evening :)

tothesea27 · 11/06/2014 14:19

One of my aunts sent us a little package this week with some baby clothes, and suddenly it feels much more real. I keep going over to look at them and imagine our baby wearing them and it's all a bit odd. It's literally the first stuff we have for the baby, and suddenly it feels like we have nothing. I started making a list today. We're probably moving sometime after the baby is born, so at the moment I am concentrating on the things we'll need for just the first few months. (For example, I love the look of the IKEA antilop high chair, but will hold off on that sort of purchase until we're more settled.)

Anyway, on that topic, does anyone have any advice on babywearing? I love the idea of getting a wrap or carrier of some kind, but have no idea what kind. There are so many options and opinions and I don't really know where to start. (Pushchairs are another overwhelming thing, but there has been lots of chat about those already on here that I've been reading through.)

YellowWellies · 11/06/2014 14:39

tothesea good idea on getting things in stages. We didn't do that and had to pay a fortune to the movers to move stuff we weren't even using yet. D'oh!!!!

On baby wearing I had a moby stretchy wrap for the first few months last time and an ergo carrier when he got bigger. This time I'm just going to stick with the ergo (and newborn insert) from birth as it was so easy to use and I kept dragging the moby wrap through puddles whilst trying to tie it. I don't think having a toddler around I'll have time to tie a stretchy so a quick click on carrier like the ergo will work best for me. Try going to a local sling library and borrowing some when the baby turns up to see if they like being worn and what suits you both - try before you buy as they are expensive.

Some great advice I received the first time round is the less you spend on baby stuff the more time you will be able to spend with them (before having to go back to work / or if going back to work isn't an option - the more fun stuff you'll be able to do with them). Unless you are one of those folks for whom money is no object I know that I have loved having an extra month at home with J rather than a lovely blinged up nursery for example (don't get me wrong I'd love the nursery too, but we couldn't afford both!). Or debt. Being in debt when you are on maternity poverty wages is no fun either. It's hard to correlate it now but money saved today for many of us really will mean being able to delay going back to work, and every month as they change and grow there are a million and one new reasons to delay going back (and then they hit toddlerhood!!!!). It's such a balancing act as the emotional need to nest and create a perfect environment for them is so strong, but (for most people) deep down it's the time you are with them that will really mean the most to you. And I say that as someone who does try to balance childcare and working. I had friends who had to return to work very early and it can be very hard. For other folks it is the right thing to do for you - there is no one size fits all. It's very personal. But I did try to remember that mantra when going on baby shopping splurges. Ebay is your friend! Saving money means more cuddle time.

This is where I talk about babies. A little bit maybe with boyfriend, but not that much. My internet browsing history is v dull though - all ebay and review reading of baby things.

YellowWellies thanks! I will definitely look into a sling library...one of the things making it harder to make a decision is the fact that they are so expensive! I also definitely agree with you about spending money. We're not doing any kind of nursery (partly because of a likely move, partly because of money) and are really trying to do most things for as cheaply as possible. It's actually hardest for me when it comes to baby clothes. I know they don't need much, but some things are just so cute! Luckily we don't live near a lot of shops, so the biggest temptation is online shopping, and I do my best to avoid that.

Also, yes, my internet history is pretty boring. All baby-related reviews/questions. It means I get some weird ads, too, all about diapers or baby clothes or other things like that.

YellowWellies · 11/06/2014 16:18

If I were buying again I would be tempted by the Ergo 360 new baby carrier. Ask our resident sling pimp (CJ was it you? my brain is shite ATM!!!) for details. It looks a thing of beauty.... and good for wee hips and nosy babies!

Glad it's not just me! I could bore for England. At least with mum here next week and PIL the week after I should get an attentive audience!

Aw Buggerlugs that's so sweet. I will stay sitting where I am if there's a lot of movement just to enjoy it. I tend to get kicks just as I am nodding off!

Lol Mum2!

Tothesea that sounds such a nice package to receive.

I do like the idea of a good ebay bundle when baby is older (imagine we'll be gifted a lot of things at first.)

binkybunny · 11/06/2014 16:26

Just had my second self hypnosis for birth class and feel lovely and relaxed. Had a tour round the local mlu too and its really nice! Think I might be swaying away from the one attached to the hospital and hoping I wont need the 20 min ambulance ride!

LondonJen · 11/06/2014 16:26

ps Fedup meant to say earlier that I enjoyed reading of your first purchase as I know how anxious you have been x

Loulou888 · 11/06/2014 16:37

I've been looking at nursery furniture ready to house the baby's things. Can't make my mind up. Don't want to spend a fortune but don't want to go too cheap as it's all come flat packed and the cheaper stuff is awful to build. (From experience)!

The baby has been a lively little monkey over the last week. I'm having a sit down now and it's kicking away :).

STIGZ · 11/06/2014 17:10

Hey ladies :) anybody got low iron? Got blood taken last week at docs as was feeling breathless just talking to the doctor! I got results yesterday and my iron stores are really low! ... I feel like i hardly have the energy to talk never mind walk! .. Feel so sorry for dd as im just hoping she entertains herself as much as possible..i feel so guilty & was actually crying earlier as i feel i have done nothing with her past couple of months due pgp aswell :(

Thank god im off work due to pgp the now, but im goin back on monday as its nearly end of term and need to get things done!

mrsb87 · 11/06/2014 17:44

Hi everyone! Very interested in getting a sling when baby is born. Love the idea of being close Smile
I have had my 24wk appointment today, everything went well and heard the heartbeat which was nice and clear! Little monkey was a bit of a fidget though! Every time she found the heartbeat babyB rolled over, hehe.
loulou I've had lots of movement for a few days now too!

Kirstipops · 11/06/2014 18:17

I ordered a lovely turquoise stretchy wrap from Victoria Sling Lady today, and I've found someone on Gumtree selling 18 nearly-pristine Bumgenius nappies incl some inserts, liners and a nappy bucket for the princely sum of £100. V tempting! Hope you start feeling more energetic and less achey soon Stigz :(
P.s. thanks for advice about the gym ball, I think if back pain continues I'll be investing in one!

Bumpforme2014 · 11/06/2014 18:21

Awwww I'm envious of all of your baby talk, my colleagues couldn't care less or know less about babies so I never talk about it at work. My friends are also nowhere near baby stage so feel awkward talking to them about it and try not to mention it too much. Really want to get excited about it but haven't even purchased a single thing (sigh) feels like there is always too much to do at work or in general life that takes priority, roll on October!

pusscous · 11/06/2014 18:34

Loulou we are having the same dilemma over nursery furniture- Dh wants to go cheap, looks nice, but am worried about durability and stability, but likewise do not wish to spend all the money available on one or two items....Seems in the US everything is expensive or cheap no middle ground; have done lots of online browsing in the uk, will check them out in July.

Have been slightly told of by family for buying a few pieces of baby clothing, mainly babygros, as they wanted to buy them! As in less choice for them, but I really havent bought much. We do need to have items here ready for the baby as much as they will all buy gifts, we will not see people/ receive gifts for quite a while after the birth due to the distance between us, so we are unable to rely on the gifting of outfits or else poor dd will only wear her nappy.

ExcitedCJ · 11/06/2014 18:45

Yo yo - CJ the sling pimp here Ask away....

Not had time to catch up today, will make time later...

mum2kiss · 11/06/2014 19:30
