george I've been wondering the same thing. I fully intend to vaccinate this baby after birth but I feel a bit worried about taking a vaccine whilst I'm pregnant!

ExcitedCJ · 04/06/2014 14:39

Sazzle I love the quilted jacket, I was searching high & low for a cute one like that when DD was little, great to bundle on them for a quick trip to the shop over a baby grow. That's a must purchase for me! :) Everyone seems to be going 20 wks+ spend crazy in the last day or so..
Happy spending ya all, supports the economy after all!! :)

ExcitedCJ · 04/06/2014 14:42

George I am in 2 minds as well. Managed to skip the flu vaccine for my DD this year & she didn't get sick. Lots of other kids did! I feel a little the same about this, I'm not sure about vaccinations at all.

ExcitedCJ · 04/06/2014 14:43

* I don't mean all vaccinations I just mean these 'new' ones that I never seemed to need before.

Loulou888 · 04/06/2014 14:48

I think whooping cough is a safe one as it isn't live. I had passed the flu season so missed out on that one but I have decided I will have the whooping cough. If baby developed cough at an early age and I hadn't have had it I would be mortified.

Loulou888 · 04/06/2014 14:48

Gone for the red sazzle can't wait for it to arrive.

YellowWellies · 04/06/2014 15:01

I had it at 33 weeks when preggers with J. Its not a live one and they are exposed to more mercury when you eat a tuna sandwich. We had no I'll effects. There were two newborns in the NICU with whooping cough when my niece was there, seeing them struggle to breathe was awful, sadly one didn't make it Sad . That's what made my mind up last pregnancy to have the jag, to lose a little one after all the travails of conception, pregnancy and birth to something avoidable would break my heart.

sazzlehopes · 04/06/2014 15:11

Ok I'm not a big vaccine person - my boy is vaccinated - he had all the normal ones at all the right times etc. I'm personally not a fan of the flu one purely because they make a guess as to which strain it'll be that year and inject you with it, so I've skipped that and been flu free. Another preggo friend had the flu jab and all was well too.
However the whopping one although is new because we will get it whilst pregnant, it is the same as they will receive in their fist batch of jabs I think so I'm happy to have it as the baby will get it anyway at 6 weeks or whenever their first jabs are. I think they just want them to be protected earlier. I think because I am heading into winter with the baby i will get it, perhaps if it had been summer I'd have thought again...who knows?!

LondonJen · 04/06/2014 15:13

That's quite amusing re your ebay sale Lou!

That sounds good Binky, let us know if it works, I could do with more consistent sleeping.

Not heard of them Mum2 (not that I have much knowledge) tho they look a lot like the iCandy range.

Glad all was well at your appt George. I will def be having the whooping vaccine as I was hosptialised myself at 8 months with whooping cough and my Mum still looks utterly distressed when she talks about it now and I'm 35! Back then you only got vaccinated at 12 months. I was very poorly, you can't keep anything down as the coughing makes you vomit so you get dehydrated. DP also had it though he was a year older than me and his mum chose not to vaccinate him as she was worried about side effects. So we are biased but very pro that injection here!

I talked to my mw already as I wondered if I would have immnunity to pass on from having had it (apparently I will pass some immunity on but not enough) and she seemed to consider it very safe. Again, she's prob biased too tho!

sazzlehopes · 04/06/2014 15:13

whooping not whopping!

lou yay for the order - think I'm going dove grey - all so lovely.

CJ yes to the quilted jacket - super lovely hey? I know we are having a boy, but I always prefer the unisex, plainer stuff anyway to the more 'boy' stuff! It will go with everything!

Oklahoma · 04/06/2014 17:48

How have you all persuaded the baby to kick for DH? It kicks regularly and I can feel it through my stomach but every time he tries the bump stops moving.

Loving all the baby gear ideas. Also holding until 20 week scan before I buy though! My friend recommended this which looks quite cool www.snugglebundl.co.uk

pusscous · 04/06/2014 17:51

All was good at our 20 week scan yesterday and little girl is developing as expected. I am mega excited at the news- that all is ok and gender- and have been bouncy off the walls, metaphorically ever since. I couldn't contain myself so had to inundate my poor parents with texts until they responded-it was almost midnight- oops!

We have also caught the shopping bug and placed a large order with Next in the evening. We have bought a variety of bits in different sizes so trying to plan ahead and spread the cost. I did buy some pink items but less glaringly 'this is a girl' more pastels and whites/creams/ greys and blues. There is lots of cute summer clothing around- I plan on hitting the sales to stock up for next year as we can't use too much in the autumn/ winter. I did buy a few dresses to wear with tights and cardigans.

Stigz that is a lovely 3d image and good luck binky hope you find out the gender.

Right I need to move myself - have to finish the crochet blanket for dd- it was meant to be finished before the scan so I could start another blanket with hints of gender suitable colour! Miles from finishing, in fact have two to finish eek.. also waiting for family to finish work to facetime them.

following the vaccine talk with interest

LondonJen · 04/06/2014 18:50

Oh that's clever Okla. See there's so many things you just don't know about to add to the list! As for 'persuading' ha ha ha! I wish! Dp has felt one kick, it was quite a wallop. All the others as soon as he touches me baby stops moving. I think it was pure fluke, the baby thinks it's funny!

Ah Puss lovely news. I can feel your excitement!

Well I have enojyed my lounging day but I don't feel any less tired Hmm

Kirstipops · 04/06/2014 18:53

Oh Oklahoma I've lost count of the amount of times I've excitedly placed DH's hand on bump to feel the latest set of gymnastics, only for bump to quickly settle down to slumber! If his touch still has this effect on baby once it's arrived I plan to take full advantage!! I've taken to murmuring to DH in code stuff like "disco's started" so as not to jinx it when he goes to feel the bump (my friends weren't wrong when they said I'd be a bonkers mum).
Had a bit of a meltdown today, head was a bit all over the place yesterday after receiving exciting news about DH's band and then bad news about my oldest friend's sister being diagnosed with cancer, so didn't get much of a sleep and backache returned with full pelt, so felt zombified going into work this morning, only to log onto my emails and find one from a work colleague who I don't particularly like asking/telling me to organise her retirement do at the end of this month Angry
We organise our own leaving/retirement/bday drinks so I don't have a clue why she won't do it herself, I assume that (a) She can't be arsed (b) She thinks more people will come if I'm doing the inviting. She's burned a lot of bridges in recent times and news of her retirement has been met with indifference, I just find it pretty selfish and thoughtless of her to ask me, surely I have enough on my mind just now, I'll be nearly 7 months by the time she goes?!!?

Kirstipops · 04/06/2014 18:54

Lovely to hear about the scans and appointments, it's great to know we're ticking along nicely ;)

ohthegoats · 04/06/2014 19:03

I had a Doppler scan today to check placenta malarkey (something to do with age - pre eclampsia risk - and my blood clotting disorder), so saw it kicking around again. Only got a few shots of the face, since they were actually after blood flow through boring bits like uterine arteries, but still cool. Then spoke with a consultant who basically said that any of the stuff that initially could have been a problem (blood + age + single umbilical artery), seems to have rectified itself - or BEEN rectified by my amazing placenta. I'm dead proud of my placenta! Makes me less high risk, which is ace... everything crossed that if things stay the same, I'll be OK for potentially being on MLU instead of delivery suite.

Also have an extremely lively baby, and apparently if this continues into the last two months or so, then I should expect its waking patterns and movement patterns to continue after birth. Considering it feels as if it's doing somersaults practically 24/7 right now, this is a concern!!

Then my boss announced that if I go back in September, I go back into class - and gave me the class list - it's the worst class in the school by a long shot. So many behavioural issues and statemented children. Haha - this is clearly his next ploy to have me leave in July as he wants.

fedupofrainydays · 04/06/2014 19:21

I would def get the vaccine for whooping cough. As others have said they can't get it very early in life and it's potentially fatal.
I think flu is more about protecting us in pregnancy and not for the child when it's first born. I've not had flu jab with any preg but wouldn't skip the whooping cough particularly when there has been a rise in the number of babies getting it.

Loulou888 · 04/06/2014 19:22

kirsti tell her to do one or ask someone else.

Great news puss.

goats you don't know how you will feel. Is it end of sept you are due? You don't want to be under stress with a bad class the last few weeks. It's a shame you can't be extra help for a week or 2. I finished 3 weeks before I had dc1 (her birthday is 24th oct so this one wants to be early) I cleaned, washed, started Xmas shopping, repacked bag had lovely bath every afternoon with delicious stuff bought by my colleagues. It flew by. But July to sept is a long time to wait!

Buggy arrived today along with car seat. DH was like a child and couldn't wait to put it together. Really pleased with it and love the colour. Dd hasbeenpushing her baby around in it whilst ds has very much enjoyed the box!

We went for a maxi cosi mura in raspberry red with a matching car seat. Some reviews said its heavier than others but I dont think it is and it needs to do school run, football and rugby pitches. Kiddicare price matched as argos had pushchair for cheaper but kiddicare had car seat for cheaper. Ours was "reasonable" some are ridiculous. The equivalent jane one I had with dd is over £600. We paid half that 7 yeArs ago.

Kirstipops · 04/06/2014 21:40

That's great news Goats, I'd be well proud of that placenta too!! That's shit you've been given a "challenging" class as well, surely it's also not good for the kids either, for them to have you as a teacher for a short while before being papped onto someone else?
I love that colour of pram Loulou!
Watched a great programme on ITV last night called The Secret Life of Babies, did anyone else see it? You'll probably be able to find it on catch-up (I also recommend the Secret Life of Cats which was on the night before hehe).

mum2kiss · 04/06/2014 21:44

We watched it kirsti. Very interesting :)

mum2kiss · 04/06/2014 21:44

We watched it kirsti. Very interesting :)

Loulou888 · 04/06/2014 21:50

We watched next doors cat be scared off by magpies yesterday evening kirsti The racket was dreadful! Wish the cat (Eric) would get his claws on them to be honest. Magpies much to my dismay have nested in our willow tree. The noise they were making at 5 am...I was not impressed. We lost our cat last year otherwise they would not have had a chance to nest as he was always in the tree.

Bumpforme2014 · 04/06/2014 22:15

Question for those of you who have flown recently, did the airline ask how pregnant you were and how do you prove it? I'm flying Ryanair in couple of weeks and their policy is doctors letter if 28 weeks or more, I will be 25 but wondering if I need to prove it?

YellowWellies · 04/06/2014 22:17

Bump I had that issue last time and just took my notes and Matb form. You should take your notes with you now if you fly anyway just in case of prem labour.
