If I had the money I would binky! There is an offer on near us for £55 but I think we'd rather spend it on paint for the room.
We've decided on this, lookingforward to getting started!

mrsb thats gorgeous! Love the tree and pictures and such a nice colour.

We are quite well down the line of buying stuff and we've just set up a Mothercare and Mamas and Papas gift list so family can buy from there.

We do kind of have the money...I can't believe how much it is bothering me!!!

mrsb87 · 04/06/2014 08:18

Do it then! Nothing stopping you

sazzlehopes · 04/06/2014 08:54

Do it binky otherwise it'll drive you mad for another 20 weeks!

mrsb I found h and m good place for unisex stuff and mothercare. Lots of striped things seemed to steer away from aeroplanes or butterfly things. Gap and Zara also do cute unisex things but a bit more money...
We went for a lot of woodland creatures on stuff - unisex as they were browns, green etc!

STIGZ · 04/06/2014 09:00

Go for it binky !! Sounds like its driving you mad wondering :) u might get a glimpse in 3d & it looks so much like a little plastacine baby .. Deffo made me feel more excited!! Will try & post my 3d picture.

STIGZ · 04/06/2014 09:02

My wee plastacine girl :)

binkybunny · 04/06/2014 09:53

Thanks guys got DH booking it for Saturday morning. Grin

binkybunny · 04/06/2014 09:56

stigz that is cute but the 3d ones scare me a bit! I get a freebie pic as part of it. MIL is dying for one so if it freaks me out too much I will just send it on to her.

Can you ladies help me?

Dp has seen a 2nd hand pram he wants to look at on the way home from work, which is fine, tho a bit earlier than I was planning to get one!

Anyway, it includes a car seat and I told him we probably shouldn't use it as you're supposed to get a new one. I am not even sure how I know that I think just from on here. WHere can I find proper Guidelines about this? Googling just brings up the law on childrens seats.

Also where can I find proper guidelines on needing new mattresses? Again that's only something I know from being on here and I have bought a new mattress for the moses basket we have but do I need to do the same with a pram mattress presumably??

If anyone knows where I can find 'official' info on these topics I would really appreciate it! TIA

YellowWellies · 04/06/2014 11:35

Jen the reasoning is because you don't know if the seat has been in an accident and could be damaged, or if left in a car for long periods it could have been exposed to extremes of heat and cold which can make the plastic brittle and weak reducing its effectiveness. I've no idea where you'd go to get that information written down - maybe RoSPA? Confused

My gender neutral purchases are these

www.marksandspencer.com/10-piece-pure-cotton-starter-set/p/p22247400 I actually bought it new off ebay for a tenner as it's out of stock in small sizes but maybe you can find the same

And this is baby's toy box where we're currently keeping all these bits

Infant death charities have information on new mattresses though the science on cot death / old mattresses is not sufficient to suggest cause and effect. preventdisease.com/news/articles/used_mattress_cause_sids.shtml

The latest thinking is that there possibly isn't a direct causality but rather that children growing up in poorer households (who are statistically more likely to use second hand mattresses) are more at risk because of other factors - lower levels of BF and higher smoking rates for example. Having said that I'm getting a new mattress really just because if the worst did happen and he/she was sleeping on an old mattress I would blame myself.

Thanks Yellow at least that is something I can tell dp! He asks why about so many baby things and I'm always like, "er.... I don't really know!" Not very helpful for him.

sazzlehopes · 04/06/2014 11:49

Nice choices London - love the toy storage bag.
I'm in love with this:

and this quilted jacket is super sweet and neutral too

God i could look at baby clothes all day long!

LondonJen · 04/06/2014 12:07

Oh Sazzle that knitted romper is adorable

Loulou888 · 04/06/2014 12:34

london it's peace mind for you most places where you buy them advise you to buy knew unless you know the history. My friend gave me her Moses basket but I still bought a new mattress. Shop around on the internet some people rush into buying stuff second hand and could have bought it brand new. It's not the same but I sold a buggy board on eBay for £30 they could have bought it brand new for that!

binkybunny · 04/06/2014 12:41

Just back from my first self-hypnosis for child birth class at our local MLU. Feeling so lovely and relaxed, can't wait to try it out before bed time tonight and see if I might have the first full nights sleep since about February!

Still haven't got the CD/ Book as wanted to see what we got with this, which is nothing but it's free so wasn't really expecting anything. Think one of the CD's is going to be a must though, even if it's just for relaxation in the run up to the birth.

Also, going to my first class has just made me realise that in 4 months time I will be giving birth! It was lovely speaking to other pregnant people too and I think I have decided on my more local MLU rather than going through to the one attached to the hospital a bit further away.

I didn't realise the new mattress thing applied to prams too- but thinking about it now it makes sense. Better add it to the list!

YellowWellies · 04/06/2014 13:01

OMG knitted rompers were my favourite thing to dress Jonas in (pre solid food!) they look so cute in them. I got a gap Aran knit one in cream and loved it so much I bought the next size up too.

Yay the romper love! I'm thinking how cute at Chimbo with tights and a striped top! Eeeek! Yes I dress my boy in tights!!
In fact the other day I bought trousers and shorts from Zara girls for my 3.5 yr old ds because why not!

YellowWellies · 04/06/2014 13:19

The cutest thing we got for Chrimbo was a pair of leggings with a Christmas pud on the arse from Not on the high street. Here: www.notonthehighstreet.com/bladeandrose/product/christmas-pudding-leggings I too dress my boy in tights in winter. Otherwise he takes his socks off and gives them to the dog!

You've sold it to me Yellow!!! I'm buying the 3-6 month romper! Wahoo first purchase!

Loulou888 · 04/06/2014 13:38

I'm about to buy a Star baby wrap. Can't decide between thistle which is the purple or the red? Decisions.......

mum2kiss · 04/06/2014 13:41

Has anyone heard of this travel system/brand before? Is it as good as it looks?

baby-travel.uk.com/products/copy-of-i-safe-system-black-grey-travel-system-pram-luxury-stroller-3-in-1

I've seen it (with all accessories including iso fix base) on amazon for about £300. Looks so cosy and padded!

sazzlehopes · 04/06/2014 13:53

Loulou, I'd personally go for the red, but I generally prefer that colour to purple. They are amazing really it is hard to choose!
Mum I've not heard of that range...maybe a google search will help you out with reviews etc?

Georgebythesea · 04/06/2014 14:24

I had a midwife Appointment yesterday, all measuring fine and heard heartbeat :) She also talked about whooping cough vaccine after 28 weeks. Is everyone planning on getting this? I did a bit of online research which was probably a bad idea because you read all the worst case scenarios but it generally seems to be a good thing.I intend on giving my child vaccines etc.Just this seems quite a new thing still so just interested in what others think?
