Madrigals I like that stat Smile

LuluJakey1 · 31/05/2014 10:32

saras Good luck today with your scan.

keepon I have every sympathy- have only had it this week and it was only really bad for 2 days, all day, but it is awful. I had no idea how grotty it could make you feel
Have you tried ginger tea or biscuits? I was sceptical but they have made a difference - or just coincidental possibly.

Woke up today feeling normal Smile

Is it really true that ms peaks at 9 weeks?! I'm having horrible nausea (no actual vomiting yet touch wood) and when I'm exactly 9 weeks we'll be at a family weekend away. We're having an early reassurance scan tomorrow (7+1) and are planning on telling both sets of parents this weekend so at least they'll understand if I spend most of the weekend in bed/hugging the loo! Has anyone else told they're family yet?

Starbright24 · 31/05/2014 11:02

Ah...8 weeks exactly for me and getting worse ms daily.Chucked up twice today already. It lasts from when I wake to when I sleep and includes anytime waking in the night. Roll on 9 weeks for it to start to go!!! Grin
and big respect for those of you who are doing this a second time!

I told my mum when I was at 5 weeks. She told me it was too early to tell her as she couldn't tell others yet. Thanks mum.
oh told his parents. I wasn't there. Don't think they said a lot. Yay for super supportive family!

LuluJakey1 · 31/05/2014 11:05

OneDay We have just spent 2 days with PIL. I had to drive there as DH on crutches with football knee injury. I had awful nausea before and the journey made it much worse. Arrived to MIL, FIL, SIL and two Grandmas all ready for lunch.

When we arrived, MIL guessed and asked me when we were in the kitchen alone. I just started to cry, I felt so crap. She was amazing and packed me off for a lie down, brought me some tea up, FIL went out and bought ginger tea and ginger biscuits- they worked for MIL!

Grandmas, SIL and PIL are all delighted.

DH's knee has improved lots and he has managed walks without crutches and the nausea has really calmed down.Have driven us home early this morning and no probs. Am 9 weeks today!

OneDayLikeThis2013 · 31/05/2014 11:14

lulu that's so lovely! We hosted a huge family party here last weekend and I did my best but had to keep sneaking off for a little lie down and compose myself. Kept having a little cry with DH whenever we had a moment together as I just felt so crappy and the house was full of cooking smells ALL weekend. We went out for dinner one night and of course everything had seafood or blue cheese in it so DH had to have a quiet word with the waiter. We're desperate to tell our parents as at the moment the only people that know are mine and DH's bosses and now the waiter!!

OneDayLikeThis2013 · 31/05/2014 11:17

star I'm expecting a similar reaction from my mum. She's been going on and on about being a Nanna ever since we got married but I know she'll want to tell the world but she's going to be sworn to secrecy until our first proper scan!

HenriettaTurkey · 31/05/2014 11:18

Ah, lulu that's lovely. We have told my parents and DSis. DH's parents have sadly died, and he's an only child, so not really anyone to tell on his side. Waiting a little while to tell best friends. I'm 6+6.

I too am at a family gathering at week 9. And it's a 3 1/2 hour drive! Hoping to get pre-emotive anti-nausea tablets on Monday to help me through as I had HG with dc1, so if I can prevent myself from having that again it'd be a BIG help.

Feeling really sick today, though...up to now I have just been feeling nauseous but this is a step up. DH being amazing - DS up half the night and DH dealt with everything, and then let me lie in, waking me at 9.30 with toast to help with ms! (I have to eat straight away when I wake up at the mo. It helps slightly).

Now just to get him to sort the litter tray out - it's in the bathroom and makes me retch. Hmm

Starbright24 · 31/05/2014 11:26

Pretty sure I read on my app that you shouldn't be clearing out cat litter tray henrietta

LMSunshine · 31/05/2014 11:33

Sorry to hear how bad the ms is for some of you.
I have my booking in appointment on Monday, I will be 8+6. I can't remember if they listen for the heart beat so early on, dd is only 3, so l should really. For those who have had their booking in appointment, was you given this opportunity ? Or I may just have to wait for my scan and I will hopefully get a date on Monday.

HenriettaTurkey · 31/05/2014 11:38

Don't worry, starbright, I'll not be cleaning it out (you're right - it's a toxoplasmosis risk). Sadly, though it's in the bathroom, which I can't avoid, and just going in there makes me feel grim.

Feel a bit bad mentioning it to DH, though, as he's been running around after me and DS and must be knackered. Poor bloke.

LuluJakey1 · 31/05/2014 11:41

Henrietta I am like your DH, an only child and my mum and dad are dead so only have DH's family to tell. Have not told any friends yet at all.

Will be first GC and GGC for his side- so he is golden balls at the moment! It confirms their view that he is wonderful in every way- if daft at times! Grandma's ask us every time we go down there about babies but we just wanted to wait and have a life for ourselves for a bit.

Anyway, he has been given his instructions by all of them about looking after me-when actually he is a big softie and does lots of things any way to look after me which I appreciate. Although he does lots of things that drive me mad as well. Grin

KeepOnPloddingOn · 31/05/2014 11:48

Thanks mad and lulu

I am in the middle of week 9 so this makes sense!!!

I am sceptical about the ginger biccys, but after this mornings episode and you advice, lulu, I shall give them a go :) I hate ginger tea so I am afraid that is a no go! It gives my throat a horrid, harsh feeling. Just me? lol.

MightyQuin1201 · 31/05/2014 11:51

I'm 6 weeks today and have a work trip to NY & LA week 9... Is this a disaster? Felt a bit nauseous today to the extent of running to the loo, but I wasn't actually sick... I don't feel great though. That'll teach me to moan about being symptomless...

OneDayLikeThis2013 · 31/05/2014 12:02

mightyquin I spend most of my time retching but not actually being sick. The smell of the fridge, the glass of water I was drinking and DH's new slippers got me yesterday. Personally I can't imagine being on a plane, being in a car for 15 minutes is a but hit and miss at the moment. Sounds like a few of us have some 9 week challenges!

ViviPru · 31/05/2014 12:02

Good luck today Sara looking forward to hearing all about it.

OneDay, we've not told a soul. Other than my gym instructors as they need to know to give me adaptations for the routines. I've not told my step or Zumba instructors yet though as they're quite close acquaintances too and it just feels too close to home! So I've been feigning illness in those classes...

DH and I are quite private people. Although we're very close to my Mum who lives nearby we agreed its not fair to tell her without telling his parents and I'm SO not ready to share with them yet.

At the moment without any symptoms or hint of a bump it feels almost fraudulent to be going around saying I'm pregnant. We're not superstitious but just feel more comfortable keeping it between ourselves for now. In the event of bad news, I'd definitely only want my Mum to know. I really couldn't be doing with going round having to tell people we weren't pregnant anymore.

All that said, I'm DYING to get to the stage where we feel happy to tell people, which all being well will be after the scan in two weeks' time Smile

OneDayLikeThis2013 · 31/05/2014 12:04

P.S Ginger biscuits have done nothing for me. The only thing I find remotely helps is eating/grazing almost constantly. It's so much worse if I'm slightly hungry.

HenriettaTurkey · 31/05/2014 12:15

Oneday, Marmite on toast is my saviour...

OneDayLikeThis2013 · 31/05/2014 12:17

henrietta just noticed your EDD, looks like your due the day after me! Smile

Loobyloo893 · 31/05/2014 12:23

We've only told my mum. She was so excited but agreed not to blab! I may have to tell one of my friends as we'll need someone to watch DS when we have scan and my mum is 4hrs away so can't do it. But hoping to keep it quiet until last moment. We don't live near any family so pretty easy to keep it from them.
Feeling rough today my lovely son has passed on his cold to me. So as well as feeling sick and looking after a poorly boy I'm all bunged up and can't take anything for it. Roll on three weeks when DH gets back home.

KeepOnPloddingOn · 31/05/2014 12:53

henrietta i second the marmite on toast- and a banana

KeepOnPloddingOn · 31/05/2014 13:21

lulu aww i feel your pain! My dd is teething terribly and I am ill today too. I am fortunate that dh is actually home tonight rather than working. Hope the 3 weeks fly in for you.

RPopz · 31/05/2014 13:38

Ginger biscuits haven't worked for me apart from to give me away to work colleagues!!! Angry I truly hope ms does peak at week 9... am 9 weeks on Monday. Would be nice to feel better soon!

RPopz · 31/05/2014 13:44

Oneday the smell in our fridge set me off big time the other morning! Got to laugh.

deuscat · 31/05/2014 15:03

Hi everyone. I've been reading but not posting. It's be a weird week because it was this stage last time when I had a mc. I'm 8 weeks today though so starting to feel more positive.

Great to hear about all the scans going well. Saras hope yours goes ok today.

We've been away all week on a family holiday with PIL and siblings. We have decided not to tell anyone until after the 12 week scan so kept it quiet, but I'm pretty sure that my wine and cheese refusal, along with my decaf and ginger tea, was a dead giveaway. Thankfully they're all too polite to ask! Needless to say, I don't think they'll be at all surprised when we get to announce it!

Sorry to those with bad ms. I have a few nauseous moments and the odd smell can set me off retching in the mornings, but I've definitely gotten off lightly so far because I've not actually thrown up. Yet!
