That seems positive bush. Sending you lots and lots of labour vibes! My sweep is first thing tomorrow - no doubt I'll be up early cleaning as a result of nervous energy!

impatientlywaiting · 23/05/2014 23:50

Ooh good luck Bush, hope that things start soon for you.

eggsnbeans · 24/05/2014 01:09

Congrats to all the new bubbas this week Grin

I finally popped on sunday at 40+4, very fast labour, was totally awesome as I didn't even realise I was in labour until I was 8cm dilated! No pain at all other than some back cramps which were less painful than period pain! Was only 1/2 hour from me realising I was having contractions to waters breaking, then 4 pushes later DD2 was born, 10pounds 2oz but only 51.5cm long! Bit of a chunk Grin DD1 was 9pounds but 54cm! So much faster and less painful than the first time thank god!

Anyway, FX for everyone still left, only 7 days left in May so can't be long to go now Wink

bushprincess · 24/05/2014 06:17

MasterFlea · 24/05/2014 06:34

Congrats Eggs. Sounds like a great birth.

Loopy the post natal sweats are completely normal. All part of the glories of pregnancy!

loopylou52 · 24/05/2014 06:53

Congratulations eggs, what a great birth story!

3sthenew2 · 24/05/2014 08:14

Still waiting at 40+ 3. Had back ache all day yesterday & went on a couple of walks as I seemed to have more energy but it didn't amount to anything. At least I don't have to endure the school run comments for a week & hopefully the next time I do baby will be here as sweep booked for Tuesday. What an amazing birth story eggs sounds like my dream labour. Congratulations. Did you make it to hospital?

Chip86 · 24/05/2014 10:03

Wow eggs thats amazing congrats x

moobaloo · 24/05/2014 10:13

Congratulations eggs ! That sounds amazing, can I order a birth like that please?? Enjoy newborn snuggles, name?

Hope the sweep works for you bush!

40+5 today ...

rebeccax2 · 24/05/2014 12:35

Ho hum. 40+4 today.

Off to the hospital (delivery suite) when my other half finally surfaces to be checked for high blood pressure and urine for protein. Do you think they would give me another sweep if I ask? Any tips for getting them to intervene a bit and hurry things up? I'm going crazy. Can I demand another examination to check position etc?

bushprincess · 24/05/2014 12:40

Rebecca sure if they are checking you you should be able to get a check on baby, my .mw said you can get a check at day assessment anyttime you're worried. Not sure about sweep but worth an ask. Good luck xx

rebeccax2 · 24/05/2014 12:58

Thanks Bush - I might ham it up a bit. You are truly my hero I don't know how you remain so positive! xxx

Spirael · 24/05/2014 19:42

Awesome birth story, eggs! Can I order a birth just like it for DD2? Grin Though maybe a short while longer, to give us chance to fill the pool up.

Still not much to report here. After getting a good night of sleep and with my DParents around to look after DD1, today would have been a very convenient day for DD2 to make her debut. However she still seems to be reluctant to emerge.

This is despite copious amounts of ball bouncing and various stern words directed to the bump by everyone in the family.

I even resorted to testing my breast pump is still working! That gave me some nice strong BH for a while and I thought I might actually be getting somewhere, but they tapered off into nothing again after an hour or so.

Ah well... Takeaway curry for dinner, with a sneaky half-glass of red wine. We'll see whether that's any more effective. Wink

Thinking laboury thoughts for all those still needing them! Surely one of us must deliver over the weekend??

moas · 24/05/2014 22:12

Hi all,

Finally a chance to catch up with you all, baby Gil is 12 days old already... I really feel for those of you overdue and hoping things will start off naturally asap for all of yous! Congratulations to the new additions!
Thought I'd post my story, I really got what I'd been dreaming of, VBAC with minimal intervention, feel so blessed! Here it goes:

The waters broke on the Sunday morning (11th of May, 40+6) went for a walk in the park to try to get things going. Had a sleep as I knew it could be a long one, when I woke up I had a couple of sore contractions so phoned the hospital. They wanted me to come in as I had a section last time so we were there at 3pm.
Was settling into the ward with the idea of staying the night and see if things got going naturally. By 6pm I was having contractions every 3-4 min and they were getting super sore! Managed well with TENS machine, I recommend! I seemed to be sick every time I changed position, got an injection that stopped this so I could keep water down at least (no chance of eating in between these MENTAL pains). Baby's heart rate was monitored and he was coping really well with it all. At 11pm I was open 5cm so could move to labour ward.

I couldn't walk - wheelchair!! Honestly, these pains are impossible to describe! As soon as they started regularly I totally went into birthing zone, time perception totally wierd, the memories are really fuzzy!

Gas and air helped a bit, I am still amazed I didn't beg for more drugs. I remember saying that if I'd stopped opening at the next examination at 2am I'd consider an epidural. But I was fully dilated!! Such an amazing proud moment, and relief that I was getting there.

The pushing stage was such physically hard work, really unbelievable strength you find inside.. I was howling and screaming like crazy!! Animal! I did feel like I wanted to give up a few times, the coaching from DH and the midwives helped so much. The pain and pressure in the bum!! I could feel that the pushes were doing the job, was on my knees leaning against the back of the bed for most of it. Felt the head with my hand when it crowned! Turned around and leaned back for the last bit. Burning sensation when the head came out, then his whole body with the next contraction. There he was! A baby on the bed! He was born at 3am.
The feeling afterwards, how it all goes mellow and quiet... So incredible to just lie and look at him!

I needed some stitches, took about 20 min. Really explored the gas and air during this!! Got really conked, feel I'd deserved it. DH and Gil were cuddling. It wasn't a bad tear she said, I dont know when I will put a mirror down there to see the damage done....

DH left at about 6am and we got a room, slept for a couple of hours. Such a fantastic feeling to have him with me, totally different experience from last time obviously!

The recovery has been a breeze compared to last times EMCS, I feel so incredibly lucky that it all went well and that he was in such a good position to be born, I if anyone know that so much is down to luck..

Love to you all.

moas · 24/05/2014 22:17

Oh I forgot! I managed to break a rib in labour! It was that hanging off the end of the bed! Nothing can be done about it, just painkillers. Shows you what amazing force and power you carry within!

MoominAndMiniMoom · 24/05/2014 23:46

Great birth story moas but Shock at you breaking a rib!!! Ouch! Hope it heals quickly and with as little pain for you as poss!

As for looking down there with mirror, I'm six weeks post birth and still haven't dared. But I know it is likely to be a mess down there, purely because of what they said at the time. You know it's bad when a doctor looks at your foof and says 'Wow, that doesn't look good' Hmm :( Grin

bushprincess · 25/05/2014 06:47

Wow moas, wonderful story, thanks for sharing and congratulations! Quite shocked at the idea of breaking a rib in labour, as you say what an example of the power our bodies have! Recover well Thanks

dobedobedo · 25/05/2014 07:02

Wow moas what a story! Glad it went well. Apart from the rib thing obviously. On the plus side, most people who break ribs can train themselves not to sneeze (I did) so that's gotta help your pelvic floor too! Grin

ftmsoon · 25/05/2014 07:15

I have only just found this thread so am a little behind as as baby ftm was born on 7th May at 4.55am. Guess I need to change my username!
Birth was a little traumatic and ended up in hospital for 9 days. I looked at my stitches after about 4 days and that was a shock! DH has been keeping an eye on them for me as they got infected but are finally getting towards healing.
So much for the breathe her out, water birth I planned!

bushprincess · 25/05/2014 08:23

Congratulations ftm and good luck healing! The majority of us have graduated to the post fatal thread, so do join our lovely group, we may be a little quiet on this one now! Xx

loopylou52 · 25/05/2014 09:35

Welcome and congrats ftm!

moas thank you for posting your wonderful birth story. It's given me hope for the future after my emcs this time.

moobaloo · 25/05/2014 10:00
