Morning Girls,

Thought I would start a new thread as someone suggested further down the last one.

Come and join.

Debbsy, how are things today ? Hope you are feeling better.
Tummy Button is starting to poke out a bit, sort of half in and half out, looks very odd.
We brought our buggy yesterday - we have gone for this one , being delivered a week Friday. Can't wait to get it home and have a push.

Not even thought about hospital bag yet. When I was pregnant with DD, I'm sure I already had it packed by now. We had one for labour and one for afterwards which worked quite well, think we will do the same this time.
Carseat - I had to stay in after having DD so DH brought the carseat up to the hospital the next day with him. I think we will put it in the car ready this time though as hoping to be in and out in a flash

Ah thanks Charlee, I have been thinking that myself throughout the whole pregnancy but yesterday I just went into complete panic mode.

Although i am concerned about my fundal height measurements, I know they are not accurate but I am more concerned about my midwife's thoughts on it - she said I may be measuring bigger than I should be because the baby was laying across my tummy, which I thought didn't make a great deal of sense - I have just found this on the web:

For instance, a baby who has "dropped" between the last visit and the current one may show a fundal height less than last visit! A simple pelvic exam can determine the descent of the baby's head into the maternal pelvis to explain this.
If a baby's turned sideways, as often occurs in mid-pregnancy, the fundal height can be unusually short for what's expected, because the greatest dimension lies across the horizontal.
A breech baby, usually sitting up high in the uterus, will yield an unusually large fundal height.
Twins (or more!) will give a FH way too big for the gestational age.

So now I'm thinking not only does my midwife not make sense, maybe she hasn't even noticed and this baby is actually breech. I know i've still got plenty of time for baby to move if it is breech but I certainly don't want to be having one of those procedures where they try and turn a breech baby at like 38 weeks, that looks horribly painful.

morning - does anyone need semi skimmed milk? i have a lifetime supply it feels like!! a couple of weeks ago milkman came round looking for new customers, great i think, soon to be heavily pregnant got ds to cope with then i'll have a new born and ds, please deliver my milk... so i ordered 4 pints of whole milk and 2pints of semi skimmed 3 times a week.... delivery started monday when i received 6 pints of semi skimmed no whole milk... so i phoned and it was dmilkmans mistake, must have picked up the wrong bottle in the dark blah blah blah.... today i've just had 4 pints of semi skimmed delivered - no whole milk, even though i asked for no semi skimmed to be delivered today cause we just don't drink that much milk!! aaarrrggghhh!!! will be phoning later to cancel all future deliveries!! does anyone know if i can give ds semi skimmed at 18months if it's cooked??

nataliejane, you have exactly the saame problem as me, what to do with ds when i'm in labour?? i'm worrying about this more than the actual birth (it's gonna hurt and we can't control the outcome so why worry?) no family nearby or close friends that i would ask... a few friends have offered but i don't feel happy leaving ds with them as they don't know him and he certainly doesn't know them, all except our also very lovely neighbours, jade who is our babysitter and they love each other, only problem she's at college and works partime.. then theirs thing s like putting him to bed (it's generally always me) that i worry over, and feeing him.... gonna ask about induction aswell, but i'm not keen on this idea either, i have appointment with consultant next month who is also a colleague so i shall have a good chat with tyrone then... oh what to do??

Happy birthday Delia Have a lovely day!!

I can't handle this school thing anymore, this is my third day of literally sat around the house with absolutely nothing to do, I spent all yesterday on MN till my internet started playing up and then I read nearly a whole book yesterday afternoon, I can't do it anymore. What the bloody hell am I going to do with myself for the rest of today, and the next couple of months?

Help!!!!!

saralou100 · 13/09/2006 09:36

oooh and happy birthday for yesterday podgelet!!!

and happy birthday delia!!!!! xx

saralou100 · 13/09/2006 09:37

nj, find a hobby (other than mn)

NatalieJane · 13/09/2006 09:43

I don't really know what I would be interested in I know that sounds really crap, but I have literally lived for my DS and DH for the last 6 years, I don't drive, so getting anywhere is very hard, we've not a penny to spare at the moment with paying for all the baby things, so it can't cost anything, I have no one that I would call a friend around here... I am going to be bouncing off the walls by the end of the week at this rate.

saralou100 · 13/09/2006 09:48

you poor thing, i start mat leave next week and this is my fear although ds is only at nursery 2 days a week and i plan on using this time to organise and decorate and go visit people, even if i have to drive all the way to london... but saying that i probably won't!!! is their any more decorating you cxan do without your dh?

in a couple of months your lifes gonna be taken over again and you'll be wishing you had a second to yourself!!

LeBe · 13/09/2006 09:58

Morning

Happy birthday Delia, hope you hve a nice day!
Well saw the mw yesterday, was so sure she was going t osign me off it seems she was a bit concerned about the pain ive been having and she said i was looking really tired, i was worried she would sign me off so i tried to change the subject quickly. She said everything was fine apart from that though, and lo is head down on the brim and facing the right way. I was really pleased as i was worried he might not be in the right position, i know he can still turn but im hoping he will stay put now.
Also had a bad nights sleep, and really struggling for breath today. NJ i think i will be like you, im still at work for another 3 weeks and im so looking forward to leaving but i bet after about 3 days i will not know what to do with myself! xx

NatalieJane · 13/09/2006 10:03

Nope, no more decorating that I can do.

I was speaking to DH last night about being induced again, he thinks it might be a good idea, is a midwife likely to let me be induced either on due date or even earlier for the sake of having child care for DS?

NatalieJane · 13/09/2006 10:08

Lebe glad the midwife seemed pleased with you, and it went well.

Delia · 13/09/2006 10:30

Morning all, thanks for the best wishes i'll send some virtual jelly and ice-cream over to everyone today as you had cake yesterday and i don't want you all to get board .
Thanks for the advise mygirl, i think i'm going to get some terry's and a few kissaluv's as that is what the websites have reccomended and see what suits when lo is born.
NJ I know what you mean i've been looking at the 4 walls of my house day in day out for the last few months - if i was closer i'd arrange to go out for the day with you, i even have a pattern to my day now of what to watch on the tv when to get on the pc etc.

NatalieJane · 13/09/2006 10:45

LOL Delia I haven't even turned the telly on, I daren't incase I get sucked into it, I can't stand daytime telly, but it is so bad that you can't help but watch, so the telly stays off, and I play my CD's, I am rediscovering some that I haven't played for a while, bet my neighbours are having a right laugh at me, singing away all to myself!

Pass the jelly and ice cream over then, since I don't have to worry about the extra pounds for once

Delia · 13/09/2006 11:01

tv and reading was all i could manage to start with as i could'nt get down to the dvd player, why dh insists on it being on the floor i don't know! it kind of goes on first thing and i flick around during the day but ask me what happened in any of the naf programmes and i can't tell you! i wish i was more mobile cause i'd be out the house enjoying the weather. maybee i should start trying to understand how to work the xbox? If anyone has any ideas fo us we would be grateful! plus if we can get some extra cash at the same time life would be wonderful lol.

NatalieJane · 13/09/2006 11:06

Make the most of the weather?? Do you mean going for a swim in the puddles?!!

Actually the sun has just come out but it is still raining and is very very windy.

Well sitting here talking about being bored has taken up two hours, do you think I can stretch it out over two months?!

Kif · 13/09/2006 11:11

Sarahlou - semiskimmed won't do your ds any harm at eighteen months. Whole milk is recomended as it is more fatty=more nutricious.

When i have a glut of milk I make up 'american style pancakes' in bulk, then freeze them. Pop them in a toaster for a snack (my Dd very partial) - and quite tidy food to snack on car journeys. Basically eggs, milk flour and baking powder - mix up and fry up. If you're eating them fresh - bits of apple+cinnamon or sweetcorn is nice (mix into batter --> fritters).

i've just watched las veagas on sky one 'cause i reallly fancy the guy in it! otherwise day time tele sucks!!!! i'm hoping that they will induce for reasons of childcare but it's the nhs... if we were paying they would (saw it on portland babies the other day) apparently inducing is easier the second timeb 0 n0.m
