Morning Girls,

Thought I would start a new thread as someone suggested further down the last one.

Come and join.

Debbsy, how are things today ? Hope you are feeling better.
Tummy Button is starting to poke out a bit, sort of half in and half out, looks very odd.
We brought our buggy yesterday - we have gone for this one , being delivered a week Friday. Can't wait to get it home and have a push.

Not even thought about hospital bag yet. When I was pregnant with DD, I'm sure I already had it packed by now. We had one for labour and one for afterwards which worked quite well, think we will do the same this time.
Carseat - I had to stay in after having DD so DH brought the carseat up to the hospital the next day with him. I think we will put it in the car ready this time though as hoping to be in and out in a flash

Morning girls

Right i really need some help, but its a bit difficult to explain so please bear with me and i hope it makes sense.

I am leaving work 6 weeks before edd, i get full mp for those 6 weeks and then it goes down to £108.00 which i cant afford to live on but im assuming the baby will be here and i can start claiming credits, which i cant do until the baby arrives. I am know thinking of leaving work earlier and there is also the possibilty of him being late so what do you do for money inbetween. Im not going back to work after.

Please help i need advixe x

staceym11 · 06/09/2006 11:17

oh Lebe wish i could help, maybe try citezens advice, they will prob be able to help, they usually have a advice phoneline at certan times of day, save you making an appointment!

youngmum21 · 06/09/2006 11:21

morning lebe,

I dont think there is alot you can do!!! i think us women get ripped off with pay how do they exevet you to support new baby with the crap wages they pay us????

Debz99 · 06/09/2006 11:32

Lebe

It can be a problem cos the normal channels like, DWP (Social Security) and Inland revenue will not take Lo into account until acutally here. Not sure what to suggest sorry. x

Debz99 · 06/09/2006 11:36

If you're not returning to work I aasume you can claim income support, some form of tax credit, child benefit. If you claim income support you will likely be entitled to housing benefit (Rent paid) and Council Tax benefit. Hope this helps.

saralou100 · 06/09/2006 12:06

lebe have you tried your local tax office or job centre where they can give you advice or try checking tax credits online, theirs a link to see what your entitled to... just google it (i can't link or i would )

feel really blah today.... wanna sleep, but it appears ds doesn't, i need to make some food for us but i can't be bothered

did anyone watch eastenders last night? i want an epidooodle!!!!! funniest thing i've seen on tv in ages!!!

FoghornLeghorn · 06/09/2006 12:09

Here Lebe, this is the website for what is now the Inland Revenue. This should tell you what you are entitled to and when

Thanks girls.

I think i will ring citizens advice and see what they suggest because i really cant stand being here any longer i had to walk to the shop earlier just to calm down because i thought i was going to explode and its over stupid stuff like someone taking a pen or something. In my head i know im over-reacting but my body thinks otherwise. My collegues have all just admitted that cant wait for me to have lo cos of my foul mood. Not getting any sleep doesnt help and also the aches and pains put me in a bad mood as well everyone telling me about their social lives and drinking etc

Sorry for ranting on you lot dont deserve it, think i might discuss all this with mw next week, not that she is much help! Oh and on a topic started yesterday i got dp to measure me last night and it was 32 1/2cm and i am 31+4 so not bad guess i think. x

Hi,

Lebe - you sound like me - I am sick and tired of the office with it's office politics and the stress. Am hoping the consultant agrees to early inducement (if necessary) so I can leave earlier. Sending lots of sympathetic hugs. Afraid I have no idea who to contact re the money side but am going to ask my midwife for advice next week (she is a sure start midwife so quite clued up on these things)

FHLH - have decided to be like you. Whatever happens, the baby has to come out one way or another, sooner or later. As long as the baby and I are healthy & happy that is all that matters.

Saralou - I don't watch Eastenders but tuned in yesterday just to watch that episode - the "epidoodle" had me laughing too

jamcrumpet · 06/09/2006 12:49

Afternoon Ladies,
Know what you mean about work. I got so hot and annoyed earlier I thought I would explode...I never realised how lazy the men i work with are before this week. Had to go for a drive and buy Dairy Milk to calm down!

Sorry can offer no advice on the money thing but hope you get it sorted, must be very stressful (sending virtual chunk of Dairy milk to you!)

To go back a few messages mummy2toby I salute you - you've not gained a stone yet wow!

The difference between MWs seems pretty big - I've got 9 weeks to edd but have never been measured, received graphs etc or had any advice..apart from thoughtful friends who comment that I am either small/massive/high etc -not much help really.

Oops massive internal beating from Bean must mean time to get back to work

NatalieJane · 06/09/2006 13:01

Back from the hospital now, they found a trace of gloucose in my urine but she said it doesn't automatically mean GD, she said if the result from the blood is bad then I will get a call either Friday or Monday, and if the result is clear then they will send a letter next week some time.

Sorry Lebe I don't know anything about maternity leave, I've not worked since just before we started TTC DS which was nearly 6 years ago so have never gone through maternity leave, but one thing is for sure, even if it means cutting back on things at home, if you don't feel you should be working then do anything you can to stop as quickly as possible, for a few weeks of being hard up cash wise, it will make such a difference to the last few weeks of your pregnancy and the baby.

Now for some food, I haven't eaten anything since 10 o'clock last night, well except a chocolate biscuit that the hospital said I had to eat before I could go, so I am starving!! Catch up later TC xxx

Delia · 06/09/2006 13:52

Hi all,

Lebe, i know how you feel, i've been on ssp since about 18 weeks and we can't afford that let alone going on to smp early (we managed to fudge my holidays so that i am entitleted to it!) we are going to be living off my overdraft from the start! If you find anything that i've missed let me know cause i could'nt find anything cause was told that your smp is classed as your wage even though its crap.

LeBe · 06/09/2006 14:01

Thanks againg guys for the support, hugs and dairymilk

I am feeling slightly calmer about things now, just had a gorgeous jacket potato and lo must have been hungry cos he is kicking in appreciation. Delia i really feel for you with ssp - i nearly had to have that and it is terrible money! I think like you suggest i will have to skimp the next couple of weeks and try to stretch the money out.

Just been to holland and barrett and got the liquid iron but they said they are not allowed to recommend anything to pregnant people, but others have had it havent they? I expect they are just covering themselves.

Glad everyone seems to be having a better day today x

Not finding the kicks are hurting .. yet, however they are becoming quite forceful and making me jump !

LeBe · 06/09/2006 15:50

Sorry mygirl i didnt explain that too well. They did sell it me but when i asked if it was safe to use in pg they said they are not allowed to say for pg people, im sure its just to cover themselves but just wanted to get some reassurance that others have taken it.

My lo's kicks arent hurting as such but like Debz says they are getting very forceful and a little uncomfortable. Bless him x

Debz99 · 06/09/2006 15:58

SPD is getting me down, not got any worse during the day but at night in bed, my bones are crunching and grinding and having real trouble sitting up and turning over in bed !

LeBe · 06/09/2006 17:08

Debz know how you feel. I wake up pretty much on the hour and feel like someone has been smacking me in the hip im laying on with a baseball bat or somethinng, so i then turn over (more effort than it sounds) and it starts again with that hip, then there is the backache that accompanies it. Im the same, its ok in the day but for the 1st hour after im up i look like John Wayne whos lost his horse!!
No one has ever spoke to me about spd tho????

podglet · 06/09/2006 17:57

Lebe - are you sure you're not me?? sounds *exactly" like my sleep pattern! My hops feel as though someone is trying to push a knot out the muscle (if anyone has been to an osteopath you'll know what I mean) a really deep burning pain. I have trouble with my back & hips anyway so this is awful!

Consultant appointment tomorrow to measure me & little one again...

NatalieJane · 06/09/2006 20:14

Anyone else trying to escape the football?

Charleesunnysunsun · 06/09/2006 21:08

Evening (well more night!)

My bump is rock solid tonight, it doesn't hurt just uncomfortable where it's so hard.

Im not really tired, im watching Friends, dp is in bed he;s just started a new job that involves him getting up at 5.30am to start at 6.00am so he's pretty tired atm.

I just watched 'How Clean Is Yuur House' and 'You Are What You Eat' Im so glad i don;t live like any of the family's on there im a clean freak and i can;t live without my gruit and veg.

I started a 'practicle parenting' course today nothing patronising like the one's shown on t.v [ehem] both the ladies who run it seem really nice.
I have however come to the conclusion that people are either polite or blind, everytime i mention to anyone im pregnant they seem shocked and go

'oh really i hadn't noticed!'

and

'29 weeks oh you don;t look it!'

Since even dp say's im huge i figure they just think im fat so don't say anything! Or im just thinking im bigger than i actually am and dp's being rude.

Im just waffling now because im bored i hope your all sleeping well tonight, i have thankfully been sleeping slightly better this last few days (touching wood.) I hope it lasts!.

Mummy2Toby · 06/09/2006 21:53

Evening all ... right, some catch up.
Jamcrumpet - thank you for the salute but that is only what the scales say - my backside seems to be telling a different story!!
camgirl - Thanks for the advice about the tax on the buggy, it is not actually from the states though and the delivery charge on the website states that it includes all charges? I wonder, I am still trying to find somewhere in the u.k that stocks them, so I can try it in my car though
lebe - I can't help that much on the work issue, but do you think that work are treating you differently because you are pg? If the answer is yes, then you have a very strong case for constructive dismissal (I think that is right) the authorities take a very dim view of people being treated differently because of being pg - it might not give you money straight away, but it could get you a pay out in the long run if you really can't work there anymore! Also, have you tried to apply for the sure start grant? that might help too - you can apply from 29 weeks or up to 3 months after the baby is born and that might help to make ends meet? Just some ideas - anyway, I am going to try to get an early night tonight as ds has taken to waking up at 5:30am and I can't cope take care

HopingCat · 07/09/2006 09:22

Morning everyone,
I know the sure start grant has been mentioned a few times and I've looked on the internet at the details, but I still don't understand it. Is it only for people who have children already, or is it for anyone whose household income is below a certain level?

Does anyone else find that their indigestion starts before they get out of bed or eat anything in the morning?

Debz99 · 07/09/2006 09:44

Not sure about the Sure Start stuff but my heartburn starts as soon as I have had my weetabix in the morning !!!!
