Gun - I would totally buy that turquoise for a girl. Gorgeous - and think of the fun you can have when people ask "what's his name?" and you answer "Emily" (or whatever) Grin.

YellowWellies · 12/05/2014 16:11

Gun yes break the pink monotony for girls! DH reckoned turquoise is a girl's colour on the highly scientific basis that he'd not wear it.

ohthegoats · 12/05/2014 16:42

If mine's a girl I'm going to go almost all out on NOT buying any pink at all. No yellow either. I'm thinking green, red, turquoise, navy, pale blue maybe, patterns and stripes that don't involve flowers and the like. I'm a fan of animals and robots and things - they are girly too. Definitely like that star blanket thing, will add it to the (ever growing, but luckily being ticked off by loans from others) list.

sazzlehopes · 12/05/2014 16:45

Gun no way is turquoise just for boys. I loathe all that pink/blue divide. Your babe, your choice!

gunwalloe · 12/05/2014 17:32

I'm glad you all think turquoise is a nice girls colour I'm going to get that one :)
Frau my chosen girl name is unisex so they may never know lol

Oklahoma · 12/05/2014 17:45

Those suits are gorgeous!

ldt87 · 12/05/2014 17:59

Hi everyone, my scan today went great, consultant said all looks perfect and has signed me back to midwife led care. We're having a boy!

How is everyone? Xx

sazzlehopes · 12/05/2014 18:18

Yay! congrats ldt87 Is that what you thought it was? And what do you have already?!!

MundayCakes85 · 12/05/2014 18:29

Congratulations ldt87 that's great news Smile
I've just been buying neutral things like onsies/ vests as I see them (on offer!)
Our scan's on Thursday and we've agreed we don't want to find out the sex. The guessing is quite fun though.
I'm in maternity trousers but tops and dresses still fit over my nicely growing bump.

Bumpforme2014 · 12/05/2014 19:01

Hi everyone, congrats on scan news ldt87 I must say I'm starting to get a little nervous about the next scan, they are checking much more then the 12 weeks scan!

Can I ask a question, I am 18 weeks now and I really have not much of a bump at all, in fact i just look a bit bloated and it's tiny especially in the morning. Is this normal? It's first baby but I'm starting to worry it's not growing or something especially as my bowel condition flared and I'm on loads meds now.

TroubleAndFyfe · 12/05/2014 19:07

I've been trying to catch up for days! I can't remember who said what, sorry but:
Yes, DS has my maiden name as his second middle name as is tradition in DH's family. I like that he has my maiden name as it's super unusual.
YY to baby bjorn's being rubbish.
Had a look at the stokke one - looks okay but I'd say an ergo, manduca, boba, beco, Tula or connecta would be more comfy as the baby has a byte frog legged position and fabric is knee to knee.
At the baby show look out for manduca, beco and boba, they all exhibit there.
Welcome yellow how old is your wee boy? I'm dreading the proper molars!
Congratulations on your baby boy ldt87! Grin

YellowWellies · 12/05/2014 19:16

Idt awesome!!!!! Congratulations!

trouble my boy is 18 months.

Bump don't worry my cousin took really strong colitis meds all through both pregnancies and both her DDs are fine. Lots of women don't show until 20+ weeks especially if they have strong core muscles or are tall. We had a lady on our last thread who was a superfit horse rider and even at 33 weeks you'd struggle to see she had a bump. Sadly DS1 took my core muscles and pelvic floor OMG do your exercises unless you want to wee when you sneeze!!!! out with him. I have more of a bump than last time at this gestation but am still at the "cor she's porked out" stage rather than clearly preggers. I'm in my mat jeans already because I love their soft over bump cosiness. Smile

Me23 · 12/05/2014 19:21

kirsti hope your scan went well. idt87 congrats on your scan and your little boy.

mum2 glad you got checked out and baby is fine. Also didn't know britax had won those awards, I do like the pushchair but I think I'm going to get my deposit refunded and bid for something on ebay.

The other night baby did a massive flip it was the first and only big movement I've had so far it made me jump!
I'm feeling flutters most days now.

ldt87 · 12/05/2014 19:23

Thanks all, we suspected boy at 12 week scan as consultant guessed. I have 2 girls and it's husbands first so we're all over the moon, especially my older two who definitely wanted a brother

I wouldn't worry about not showing much. My belly has only just popped out a bit really and I think it helps that I'm not particularly fit or toned lol. With my first two I started showing obvious pregnancy rather than chub at around 25 weeks.

I am in maternity jeans, normal tops and dresses, and normal leggings and tights. The jeans were only purchased because mine stopped doing up and got really uncomfortable.

I've also had some bowel issues, from both ibs and being on iron tablets. Who's next for scans? Xx

Me23 · 12/05/2014 19:23

bump honestly don't worry, I see bumps everyday and most first timers won't be showing yet. Even some 2nd time mums. I didn't show until I was around 25 weeks with my first.

mum2kiss · 12/05/2014 19:40

Congrats on the boy and good scan ldt87 !!

I like pinks and blues to show gender when babies are tiny because I find it quite insulting if someone calls my baby the wrong one!

I showed dp the star blanket (which has been added to my wish list!) And he rolled his eyes in the usual "for crying out loud shes been on MN again!" Fashion!

Bumpforme2014 · 12/05/2014 19:56

Thanks guys, knew you would make me feel better! I normally have flat tummy so I thought would pop out sooner but I guess my muscles were tighter then I thought they were.

Kirstipops · 12/05/2014 19:56

The yellow star is so sweet, I like the dove grey one too :)
Scan went great today, all looking as it should, got a good 35-40 mins as the student doc had a little look too once the sonographer was done! She didn't even ask if we wanted to know the sex and she didn't tell us either, so we got to stay team yellow by default! DH thought he overheard her saying "she's normal" size but as I didn't pick up on it he can't be sure! Little cutey though :) Even if s/he did hold up proceedings a little, with its back to us and hand over the face in a woe is me manner! Student doc said it was the clearest scan she'd seen so far so I'm glad we had a good view!

claptomania · 12/05/2014 19:57

I'm in the no gendered products camp, including clothing - and definitely no pink or princess stuff if it's a girl. Also add to our list of preferences 'no text or logos' on clothes or toys - basically going to be a massive pita to buy gifts for.
But I think it's my job to keep the 'boys are active and adventurous' / 'girls are quiet and pretty' badness at bay - or at least minimised - for as long as possible.

Kirstipops · 12/05/2014 20:06

Congrats ldt!! Great news!

Bumpforme2014 · 12/05/2014 20:08

Kirstiepops he/she looks soooo cute, what a clear scan! They are so much bigger at 20 weeks aren't they.

YellowWellies · 12/05/2014 20:12

I hate all the "here comes trouble", "my little ASBO", army fatigue crap for boys. And don't even get me started on the new genderised pink lego!

My favourite baby clothes for either gender is anything yellow (they just look like wee chicks!) and red and white stripes. Toby tiger and frugi do great unisex colourful baby stuff which you can pick up reasonably on eBay. I got some funky 60/70s floral kitsch stuff on eBay last pregnancy when I was convinced we were team pink so if this is a girl they'll have that as well as her brother's hand me downs. I'm not v into pink or blue but J did really suit baby blue when he was wee.

I am not going to obsess about a nice going home outfit for the wee one this time. Because everyone had said not to buy newborn size as "they'll only be in it five minutes" so we had a nice sensible 0-1month grow for him which was mahoosive and he was instead drowned by a hastily bought 'tiny baby' grow DH had to dash for the supermarket for. He was in newborn stuff for 3 months so I've got a stack now. Sods law will dictate a giant baby this time.

porcito · 12/05/2014 20:17

Congrats on the good scans! Kirsti, so clear!

FINALLY starting to feel movements which has been amazing. It seems to wake up as I'm going to sleep...sure it's good preparation for what's to come.

In bra news, Mexico is officially boobist and I can't find ANYTHING. There's only so long I can wear my boss's monstrosities. My mum sent me some ones from the clearance bin in Mothercare, not even close to the new size, but desperate times and all that!

Was Mothers' Day here this weekend, for all the complaining about the MIL, she called us to wish me a happy first mothers' day, which was really nice. Now to persuade her it isn't normal to watch your DIL give birth.

We started making our list this weekend after the scan was OK. Turns out DP has literally no idea about babies. I think he'd have it sleeping in a drawer. I asked him if he knew when it was due. He told me: 'the last week of October'. It's Oct 3rd. On the plus side, it means I get to pretty much buy anything and he won't know the difference.

ldt87 · 12/05/2014 20:18

Here's mine, not as clear as yours kirsti! It's fab, congrats on having a good scan and getting a good look around xx
