I just felt her move from the outside! Grin At last!

YellowWellies · 25/05/2014 23:14

Mum2kiss my family too. Out of 9 cousins of my kids generation they all have it and half react to soya too. I was 16 months dairy free BF my son when I fell preggers with this one. I'm going to eat dairy in pregnancy as I know I'll be dairy free for a long time after. The NHS is conducting a big 3 year study on whether total exclusion or early reintroduction is best, our dietician reckoned to try to reintroduce traces (and to eat at least dairy traces in pregnancy) as early as possible, but he's 19 months now and still can't handle a trace without reflux, tummy cramps and explosive nappies. If when our wee ones arrive anyone has a baby the HV call 'colicky' try cutting dairy... The 'colic' disappears within a week and you have a lovely, happy, sleeping baby!

YellowWellies · 25/05/2014 23:17

But BF without cheese and chocolate is so hard.... [Sad]

Bumpforme2014 · 26/05/2014 08:17

Scan for me tomorrow as well, it has come round so quickly for me but DH says it has dragged for him. He hasn't felt baby yet and really wants too so I think he is desperate to be involved.

Cannot wait to see my bubba again I'm so excited about it but hope everything is okay, convinced it's a boy so will be in total shock if it's girl. Off shopping afterwards as haven't purchased anything yet and can't wait to buy something knowing the sex :-)

ohthegoats · 26/05/2014 09:07

Interesting about the intolerance stuff. I have wheat issues - a consultant spent all of last year chopping bits off me trying to prove I was coeliac, hut luckily so far nothing has come back positive. I just avoid bread most of the time. Boyfriend is dairy intolerant and has ulcerative colitis, so the potential for some food and digestive issues is quite high for the wee one.

queenasanti3 · 26/05/2014 09:39

Anyone eles starting to think about names yet ?? Iam going to try get a list together as I didn't really think much about it last time, and then when my daughter was born we didnt name her for over a week, and the fact that her dad kept calling her chicken was starting to annoy me haha.
Well I haven't found out the sex so looks like a boy & girl list will be started very soon.
Can someone start a October baby name thread and put the link on this thread, just because I know this thread is really busy with other subjects x

mrsb87 · 26/05/2014 10:14

I have chosen names I like but I understand that those might change when I meet the little bean! One of them happened to be dh's nan's middle name which we didn't know when I chose it. Who knows, maybe it's a sign!
I have just indulged in a runny boiled egg, It was bloody lovely too!

Kirstipops · 26/05/2014 10:56

We can't settle on any names yet! Luckily we mainly seem to agree on what we don't like but that's not too helpful so far!

pollyjanehyde · 26/05/2014 11:02

Hi, I'm new to MN, and due on 6th October with our first. Felt the first definite movements yesterday morning Smile
Really bad morning and evening sickness from week 8 to week 13, and during week 13 I had my appendix out as an emergency after being admitted to hospital with severe adbominal pain (you can imagine what i thought was happening, and it was nothing appendix related!) a scan the day after the op showed that baby was still doing great though. Been a bumpy road so far but the last few weeks have been much more pleasant, a nice bump and no sickness!
Having my anomaly scan next Tuesday at 22+1, which i'm not happy about but local hospital didn't have any gaps any sooner. We aren't going to find out the sex, and the name game is running riot on every car journey we have together at the moment!

YellowWellies · 26/05/2014 11:02

Goats it has a strong genetic element. 40% of babies struggle with cow's milk proteins - we're not designed to drink another animals breastmilk after all but its only a problem for 25%. Ulcerative colitis can arise where a baby is dairy intolerant and its not removed from their diet (it wasn't in our day). I used to be all eye rolly at talk of intolerances and food allergies but having seen my wee man reflux so badly he was stopping breathing, crying 13 hours straight utterly inconsolably and coughing up blood at seven weeks old - I take it more seriously now. Within a week of me stopping eating dairy he was sleeping through and so happy. I really hope DC2 isn't going to suffer the same but we're preparing for the worst and hoping for the best.

LondonJen · 26/05/2014 12:08

Yey Fedupand trouble nice milestones! It's lovely to hear you can see kicks Kirsti and that wonderful your dh has felt movement Mrsb. I could see the same yesterday Kirsti but dp just looked at me like I was crazy I am SO impatient for him to see and feel what I can.

Hi to new faces Smile

My names research so far tends to involve assessing names as the credits role at the end of telly programmes!

fedupofrainydays · 26/05/2014 12:16

Ha ha. London I do the same - and some go by so quickly!!

fatpony · 26/05/2014 12:37

Having a lovely bank holiday except DH did the supermarket shop this morning and managed to not get the only two things I had specifically requested - greek yoghurt with honey and jelly to make up for dessert later in the week. Big :(

Was wondering if any of you are into sewing and are planning on making some clothes for your baby? I am not a great sewer but have a machine and have been googling free patterns and fabric shops online etc - seems the patterns are more for 3-6 months and above as tiny babies are in babygrows etc which are hard to sew unless you have an overlocker for the stretchy fabric. I know baby clothes are pretty cheap these days but I just love some of the fabrics for sewing and I'm not really into this 'boy's tshirts must have tractors, trains or dinosaurs on them' type design!

queenasanti3 · 26/05/2014 12:52

Hi, and welcome Polly J, glad everything is ok with yourself now and that your baby is doing ok too.
I have the same due date, although this is my second, theres only going to be 14 months between them.
I had a scan last week and didnt find out I just love the surprise, going back tomorrow just because the baby was lying awkward so they couldn't complete checks but everything looking good.
Good Luck with your scan.

ExcitedCJ · 26/05/2014 14:36

I love we are still getting new pals on the thread.
Congrats on all the scan news, it is very exciting to find out the sex. My 20 week is next Thursday, luckily I am away until Tuesday, so hopefully not much chance to stew about it.
I am travelling today & my blood sugar went all low & wobbly. Just inhaled a burger in the departure lounge! Seriously, I have never eaten so fast in my life! Must go & find some fruit now to try & even up the badness. Poor wee Bub was obviously in need of some energy, can feel him wriggling around like crazy now!

ohthegoats · 26/05/2014 15:40

We're out in the garden again today - raised beds and planted shrubs etc - and wondering about garden planning. Then I had a bit of a 'moment' when I realised that we should really be thinking about where to put things like swings and sand pits. Aaaaaagh...

This child will have nothing to wear and nowhere to sleep, but there will be a swing set in the garden. Handy at 1 week old.

Me23 · 26/05/2014 16:20

Welcome to the new people :-)

I've worked out that if I go back to work part time x3 days a week it will cost us 15k in childcare costs for all 3 it's a bloody joke.

Bought x3 pram suits (heavy all in one coat type things) x2 newborn and 1 0-3 months in the mama and papa sale and 1 from sainsburys amazing savings only £27 for all 3 would have been £86 full price.

We have picked a girls name think it will be the one but not definite yet.

puppythedog · 26/05/2014 17:10

We stopped in on Mothercare on the way back from a one day holiday to Aldeburgh. I could have cried, just so overwhelmed by the prospect of it all and the little I know. I also had to remind myself that being able to afford fancy pants and stuff won 't make me a good dad the same as not being able to does not mean I'll be rubbish :-) bought mrsthedog a nightie and a couple of bump bands to make me feel better. ConfusedConfusedShockGrin

fedupofrainydays · 26/05/2014 17:15

Mothercare is pretty expensive all round for what it is i think!

Anyone else feeling particularly fat? It's my thighs. Enormous. Was trying to find some shorts for my holidays and the ones I tried on in new look were indecently short! And sight of own thighs grossed me out! Maybe will stick with skirts.

mrsb87 · 26/05/2014 17:25

The size of a house fedup. They have some nice ones on here

www.jojomamanbebe.co.uk/pp+maternity+jeans
I've been eyeing those up for work as they are quite similar to the the ones we are selling at fat face.
puppy yes its all very overwhelming price wise. Gumtree and preloved will become your good friends!

claptomania · 26/05/2014 18:05

I've not been very impressed with Mothercare at all so far - ugly clothes, badly made, as far as I can tell.

Had a wee rampage through Westfield yesterday in search something to wear in this awkward small-to-no-bump phase. Here's my pop summary of what's in the shops:

Mothercare - as above, frumperama
Mamas and papas - some very good value sale items - including (whaat?) maternity trousers that actually stay up! By themselves! Dresses nice but are too short on me at 5' 9''
H&M - not keen on the maternity section but the main ranges have some great long shirts and tops that will do for another couple of months. Good maxi dresses right now, too
Topshop - some nice stuff but I don't have enough of a bump to fit into anything just yet as seems to be aimed at last months
Gap - lots of really spot on jersey at the mo. Including some skirts that aren't maternity but might as well be as are right length and have broad jersey waistbands. And T shirts on 3 for 2.

Also REALLY want to buy summer shoes, but can't justify it. Hmmf.

ohthegoats · 26/05/2014 18:20

My experience of maternity clothes is that some cheap tops from H&M are OK, and everything else needs to come from JojoMamanBebe. I need to wear slightly mumsy type clothes to work, cos that's just how my job is, so empire line jersey dresses are ace for that. I have a load that I wear normally, but have just bought 2 new ones from there, that also have breast feeding holes under the wrap top. Boyfriend and I decided 'not too bad, almost decent dresses', which is about as good as I think maternity clothes are going to get. Bought two pairs of trousers from there early on, but only really need to wear them now - and they just don't stay up, crotch around my knees is really uncomfy.

The best things I've bought recently are Next harem pants in black. Go up over the bump, properly elasticated, and look semi 'normal'. I found a pair in navy online to (not maternity), and they are also great. Also have two tunics from Fat Face that are still fitting well (quite flarey under the boobs), and two maxi dresses from Fat Face too - last year and the year before I think, that I reckon will get me near to the end. Yay Fat Face and it's nice bright colours and under boob flareyness!

I move from biker boots (same Fly style in various colours) to Birkenstocks in May, and stay like that if I can until October, so bought two new pairs in pink and red the other day just to cheer me up.

claptomania · 26/05/2014 18:25

I'd forgotten about Fat Face - good shout, goats. Maybe next payday - if I haven't segued into buying things for small person rather than myself.

fedupofrainydays · 26/05/2014 18:59

Ah thanks mrsb looked at jojo earlier and only saw some navy ones that were discontinued In my size. Which ones are you going for? The one with button or without?

mrsb87 · 26/05/2014 19:01

The maxi dresses at fat face are awesome this season, I will be spending my full uniform allowance on them! I also seem to be finding this top
www.fatface.com/camis/hawkley-battenburg-cami/invt/51208
Good as it's elasticated at the back. I wish I could share my dissertation out with you all!
