I'm the same. Can't say I have been for any pregnancy. Hopefully will feel a little more excited once scan is out of the way, everything is okay and the shopping starts! With my first I think I had my bag packed at 6 weeks still to go. That made me feel excited and anxious!

TroubleAndFyfe · 25/05/2014 12:55

Yes, raspberry leaf tea doesn't induce labour so that was just a coincidence yellow; it tones the uterus and makes contractions more efficient, calms cramping, eases morning sickness, prevents bleeding gums and has a lot of nutritional value too. I have been drinking it every day since 10 weeks. 1 cup in the first trimester, 2 in the second, 3 in the third. I will continue after the birth too as benefits continue.

We were out at a boot fair this morning so have bought quite a few girly bits, really looking forward to sorting through all of DS's stuff and seeing which bits to keep and what to pass on and separating all the girls bits in to the age ranges...I guess that means I am excited!

Kirstipops · 25/05/2014 15:46

People have been asking me if I'm "excited" too - I usually avoid saying yes or no as I don't think it's the right choice of word to describe how I'm feeling! Yes I'm looking forward to and curious about meeting this new little human that's half me and half DH, but feelings of wariness and trepidation are attached to it too. I was nervous about not being responsible enough when adopting our cat last year as well so I guess it just follows!
Arrived home from a lovely spa weekend with friends today, I'm already dying for another massage, it was so good! Sprawled on the settee in front of the TV and felt some lovely little prods/kicks, then looked down and saw my tum being prodded upwards from inside for the first time!

tak1ngchances · 25/05/2014 15:50

Food question
DH and I are on hols in Portugal. We just bought a cooked chicken from the rotisserie in the supermarket for dinner in 3 or 4 hours' time.

Would you eat it? I am considering having a veggie dinner and leaving DH to have a chicken-fest.

ohthegoats · 25/05/2014 16:13

Is it in a fridge? If so, definitely I'd eat it.

I'd probably eat it if it hadn't been in a fridge too though, to be honest.

tak1ngchances · 25/05/2014 16:14

It's in the foil bag thing on our counter

Kirstipops · 25/05/2014 16:32

If you don't think you'd enjoy eating it because you'd be worrying then I would have something else, though to be honest if it was me I'd prob have eaten it without a second thought! :)

tak1ngchances · 25/05/2014 16:37

Yeah Kirsti I think you're right. I wouldn't enjoy it then I would be awake all night imagining I felt funny. So I'll have crisps and chocolate something else

Me23 · 25/05/2014 17:12

Not having a good day have felt sick/terrible acid indigestion all day and horrific restless leg plus kids are playing up! Wish I could just retreat to my bed. Days like this make me wonder what the hell I'm gonna do with 3!

Already worrying about maternity leave and finances and also the stress of going back to work and how I will juggle 3 kids with such a demanding job Sad

ohthegoats · 25/05/2014 17:35

Already worrying about maternity leave and finances and also the stress of going back to work and how I will juggle 3 kids with such a demanding job

Hahahaha... me too. And I'll only be 'juggling' 1 kid. You'll be fine.. surely 3 is no worse than 2? Or something?

I'm worrying about the fact that if I choose to go back part time (which is what we're thinking), then I'll get a new contract in say, June 2015.. meaning I can't go back to my current quite big salary. I'll be committing myself to a lower salary. Then in December 2015 my boyfriend's fixed term contract comes to an end. What if he doesn't get anything else? Wouldn't be a big disaster if I was earning my normal salary, I can keep us going quite happily while he stays at home or does some part time work. But I can't keep us going very easily on a part time salary. He's applying for other stuff already, but he works in a niche industry... gibber.

You're a better woman than me takingchances, at the moment I'd fall on a roast chicken like a starving man with no arms.

tak1ngchances · 25/05/2014 17:40

I am not a better woman than anyone, I'm a disgrace. Today I've had
Toast & marmalade
Ham and cheese omelette with chips
Can of coke
Quarter pounder with cheese
Crisps
Milka chocolate

I mean. Come ON that is outrageous

Kirstipops · 25/05/2014 17:44

Ach, Milka Schmilka, you're on holiday! Enjoy!

porcito · 25/05/2014 18:09

takingchances, jealous of your feast, enjoy it!

I've lived off rotisserie chicken as it's the only thing I trust to eat here that I don't have to cook myself. It never actually makes it home though after I've troughed at it like a hog.

Agree with the 'excitement' thing - I'm looking forward to October, but there's so much to think about before then that I don't know what I feel yet!

DP is going away for a week today, so I'll have to actually behave like a grown adult and look after myself instead of a useless sofa dwelling beast.

MundayCakes85 · 25/05/2014 19:22

You lot make me laugh- I'm not feeling too guilty about my post work date with friends at Sprinkles (gelato/ waffle parlour) as I made a very healthy butternut squash pastry dish for lunch at work -/washed down with chocolate and crisps--
Only 40 mins left here and I can't wait. Only another 6 weeks of night shifts, that's one thing to get excited about!
Hope everyone is enjoying their long weekend

YellowWellies · 25/05/2014 19:35

Lol to starving man with no arms! We had a BBQ today - lots of fun with pals and tots. Am defrosting meringue roulade for a naughty and utterly unnecessary pudding. Instead of dinner...

I'm sure you're absolutely right and it was a coincidence with the raspberry leaf tea but just in case I'm not having it until 36 weeks. Couldn't handle a prem baby in the NICU with a snotty toddler!

LondonJen · 25/05/2014 20:51

Thanks Excited I like it a lot. Might be one of my splurges as most things will be coming in multipacks from Tesco!

Oh I am really rather excited! Since the scan have been really able to imagine our little family and loving that. Plus looking seriously at buying things and enjoying it. Also having the dread about money/my future/responsibility/never being able to afford a home though. Feelings fluctuate between the two! Mind when I saw my friends 6 month old last week I couldn't equate that with the bump at all.

Hope things are a bit more relaxing tomorrow me23 (get the kids to bed early!)

mrsb87 · 25/05/2014 21:25

Thought I would share my happy evening, dh has been feeling babyB move around and fidget all evening. He now has the biggest grin! I think it's now real for him Smile

Kirstipops · 25/05/2014 21:39

Yay mrsb! DH is leaving tomorrow for work in Milton Keynes for 5 days so I've been geeing on bump to do the moves it was doing earlier where my tum was actually rising and falling with the little jabs. It appears he/she does not do requests, bahh!!!

fedupofrainydays · 25/05/2014 22:06

I've been lying in bed and this is the first time I've felt our baby move a lot. Made me very happy!

mrsb87 · 25/05/2014 22:10

kirsti yes I know the feeling! Dh was waiting a while to start off with but something made me laugh and off they went!

Maltesers1987 · 25/05/2014 22:26

Hi everyone I've just joined! I'm 19+6 due 13th October and I have my next scan on Tuesday (will be finding out sex! )

Do you guys have a fb group to get to know each other better? My friend is part of one for another month and recommended I all!

ohthegoats · 25/05/2014 22:31

I need to do some lying around with boyfriend properly giving it some time to feel it. Nothing yet, which he's finding frustrating I think.

porcito · 25/05/2014 22:35

Great mrsb! kirsti, my DP just left for working away for 6 days today - I was the same but nothing! Literally, the second I stepped out of the station, it started flipping around. It's going to be one of those children, I can tell.

Kirstipops · 25/05/2014 22:56

Hi Maltesers, I've sent you a PM about the FB group :) DH is now sleeping and I'm reading in bed feeling little wriggles now, tho nothing as "visual" as the other ones were earlier! Ah well good to know I'm not alone with that Mrsb and porcito!
Couldn't help but wonder if the jabs were revenge for some maybe overzealous dancing last night, I was up past midnight and everything, rock and roll My squiffy friend came back to the hotel room a couple of hours later and then had a restless boozy sleep in the single bed next to me, while I slept on like a baby. Footloose and Nutbush City Limits must have worked their magic...

mum2kiss · 25/05/2014 23:04

malteser we are both scan and due date buddies ;)

I have had heartburn all afternoon and evening me23. I'm about to down some gabion before bed. .

I also embarked on a dairy free diet today. Dairy intolerance is rife in my.family and when Dd was born the dairy in my.diet impacted her through my milk. The I stopped breastfeeding her eczema and reflux disappeared. I felt awful to know that what I was eating affected her so badly. So this time I'm going to go dairy free until this next baby is weaned. Today was not big deal cutting it out although I'm. Sure I'll start to struggle over time!
