Found out at 20-week scan that i have placenta previa and the baby is breech. All could move around apparently so I have a consultant appointment at 24 weeks and then a scan at either 32 or 34 weeks.

Binglesplodge · 24/05/2014 13:18

Phew! All is totally normal at the 20 week scan! After finding an NT measurement at the very high end of normal at 12 weeks I've been worried continuously since then and today for the first time I feel like I can relax and look forward to meeting the wee splodge! It wouldn't let us have a look at whether it was a boy or a girl so now I'm excited about the surprise in October. :-)

Binglesplodge · 24/05/2014 13:19

takingchances - I hope yours wriggles round for you: there's plenty of time to go xx

ohthegoats · 24/05/2014 14:22

Erk, takingchances, is the breech thing an issue this early? Mine is too, but I figured it would move. Feels like it's spinning around in somersaults.

porcito · 24/05/2014 14:35

Congrats on your scans bingle and takingchances

My doctor isn't concerned at all, she says they 'usually' move and that it's fairly normal to see it around 20 weeks. My placenta on the other hand is the laziest and is doing what it pleases but that should move too.

pinkfizzsparkles · 24/05/2014 14:36

I wouldn't worry too much at this stage taking I had a low lying placenta last time and had to be rescanned and it naturally moved up. Is it completely covering your cervix or just low? Baby will be in all positions at this stage as there's so much room to move around.

Congrats on your niece bump what a great birth! 3 pushes!! I'd love to know how some people only manage a few pushes, I've alwAys pushed for 1 1/2 - 2 hours!! Exhausting! Bet you can't wait to meet her!

Lovely scan news bingles

LondonJen · 24/05/2014 15:27

Hope it moves up taking. Breech here at the mo too. Assumed didn't matter at this stage. Glad to hear all was well bump and sparkle

My placenta is actually down on notes as Anterior but it's over to the right so I've been lucky enough to feel movements for a while now, though I hadn't noticed they were all on the left until they said.

People who already have babies already are these too chilly on the legs for night if born in Oct do you think?

tak1ngchances · 24/05/2014 15:27

Yes that's exactly what they said - everything can move and don't worry.
So I'm not worrying but glad to have consultant appointment and scan planned to see what's going on at that stage.

ExcitedCJ · 24/05/2014 16:51

Hi London the gowns are great as you can change a nappy without fuss. I had a lovely merino wool one at hospital with DD & the midwife thought it was great, she had never seen before. I don't think too chilly the elastic bottom keeps their little legs & feet in. Although mine had a pocket flap to close it. Depends on the blanket/swaddle you wrap round them too.
My libido has made a welcome return today! My DH is in trouble later!! Anyone else found a rapid reappearance?

TroubleAndFyfe · 24/05/2014 17:06

Congratulations on the scans everyone!
me23, mine's a girl!
Re swimming, I do breaststroke arms with butterfly legs. You could also do a fluttery kick keeping knees together. Sometimes I just use my arms and drag my legs behind me.
Having done aqua natal and aqua fit I would say that they are very different from one another! No harm in doing aqua fit if there's no aqua natal class but it isn't the same thing.

mum2kiss · 24/05/2014 19:41

I didn't need to push with Dd. My uterus did all the work and kind of just forced her out! I was prepared for the whole chin in chest bearing down thing but didn't need it. I put it down to the large quantities of raspberry leaf tea I drank in the last 3 weeks lol!

Those gowns are great...I'm pretty sure dp will have an issue with them.if we have a boy though!

The bract ons hicks have started over here and I've had a lot more movement but still nothing dp can feel!

mum2kiss · 24/05/2014 19:41

Braxtons!

claptomania · 24/05/2014 23:40

Ooh London I do like that gown. Adding that to the list...

YellowWellies · 24/05/2014 23:58

Raspberry leaf tea is powerful shit. I had my first cup and was in labour 12 hours later! I'll limit it to post 37 weeks this time.

As for breech at this stage they often are. I think its post 35 weeks they start to worry.

Aquafit and aquanatal are very different and you need to trust the teacher to understand which moves could be dangerous. Some do. Some will just take your money. Any high risk pregnancies and prem risk should avoid aquafit.

I've just been for a lovely dinner out in Edinburgh and drink (singular!) with my sis. Felt so odd to be going into the city without a buggy, and at bedtime!

pinkfizzsparkles · 25/05/2014 08:23

Raspberry leaf tea it is then after 37 weeks!! I'm sure I had it with one of my DC. I've been getting Braxton's too mum and they get more frequent if I'm dehydrated or have something right across the bump.

pinkfizzsparkles · 25/05/2014 08:26

Tight across the bump!

mrsb87 · 25/05/2014 09:05

Morning everyone, great news for all the scans! Can't believe I'm 22wks tomorrow. Thanks for asking after me puppy I've put the pains down to lots of growing as the day after my bump popped!
Yesterday I had to travel from the Midlands down go Cheltenham to cover a shift at the store there, I was so so tired afterwards I have just woken up from a 12hr sleep!
I'm a little concerned that everyone keeps asking me if I'm excited yet......um no. Is that strange?

Oklahoma · 25/05/2014 09:31

I'm not excited yet MrsB but I think that probably has a lot to do with the sickness we've endured. Hard to get excited about anything when feeling that crap!

mrsb87 · 25/05/2014 09:35

Yes! I feel so awful when people ask and I don't know what to say.

mrsb87 · 25/05/2014 09:35

Yes! I feel so awful when people ask and I don't know what to say.

tak1ngchances · 25/05/2014 10:12

I am the same. I have been happy since the start but could not get excited due to incessant worrying and all the puking.

My consultant said to me last week, 'oh you're like a different person, it's the first time I've seen you cheerful'. Cheeeek of him!! He wouldn't be cheerful if he was constantly nauseous/throwing up either

Oklahoma · 25/05/2014 10:33

I don't think my GP would recognise me if I wasn't snotty and crying. Every time I see her I have another meltdown. She has put up with a lot!

ohthegoats · 25/05/2014 11:51

Oh I'm not excited, not at all, not even in scans when all is well. The 'baby' is an abstract thing to me. My most common emotion is anger/irritation (not about being pregnant, just that's the overwhelming emotion at the moment), and probably fear when it actually comes to the 'having a baby' bit.

mum2kiss · 25/05/2014 11:58

The first sip I took of raspberry leaf tea made my bump go rock hard and I remember thinking "oh shit what have I done!". That's all it was though so I carried on drinking. From what I've read rat is not supposed to induce labour it's just supposed to speed up the second stage (which I believe is the pushing part!)

I'm not really excited kind of person either so will probably say no when people ask if I'm excited lol!

My braxtons hicks could well be down to dehydration as I have always been someone who never remembers to drink enough!

fedupofrainydays · 25/05/2014 12:23

I'm not excited either. Too much history of things going wrong to blight that! But am past my previous loss points so hoping that's a good sign and start to feel more excited about it.
