Labour isn't always just one day Wink mine was at least 3!!!
But agree, so much focus is on the birth then not so much for aftercare - and when you get home after the birth and get the baby in the house in the car seat it's like ... Riiiigggghhhht, what do we do now? Help?!

ohthegoats · 22/05/2014 22:38

OMG, that has just put the fear of God into me. What DO you do when you get them home?

fatpony · 22/05/2014 22:44

Ugh insomnia, I've been awake 2-4.30/5am the last couple of nights. Part is paranoia about not turning onto my back which is my fave position. Then again it's all a bit silly - presumably women a 100 years ago weren't told all this which side to sleep on stuff!

Goats I am starting preg yoga in about a week, thought I'd try it. I've been doing gym cardio about four times a week, mainly x-trainer and walking up hill on treadmill, then squats and some arm weights. Doesn't seem to have made much difference! (Have just eaten loads of milka choc, ahem)... Going to try aqua aerobics too as our pool doesn't have an antenatal specific class...

queenasanti3 · 23/05/2014 00:04

Scan went fairly well today, although I do need to go back next week so they can complete their checks as the baby had its arm over its belly so casting a shadow over the heart so they couldn't complete all checks, on a plus side get to see the baby again.
So I decided I like surprises too much so iam definitely team yellow, so excited now think iam going to book my 3d scan around 28 weeks, just because I dont think I can wait till October to see him/her again.
Iam also going to start aqua aerobics too as no pregnancy ones near me.

queenasanti3 · 23/05/2014 00:09

Oh forgot to say this heartburn has started alot earlier than last time, will have to get myself some gaviscon because the only thing that helped last time was mars milkshakes and Iam trying not to put too much weight on so will be trying to avoid them if possible .

Bumpforme2014 · 23/05/2014 06:53

Gaviscon is a godsend for the heartburn, never really had it before so this is a shock for me lol does it mean hairy baby?

Dreamt about baby last night, saw it very clearly but looked nothing like me so bit odd, was a boy.

This week has dragged been so busy at work but slowly starting to lose motivation, can't wait until my holiday. Probably loose all motivation for work once come back from holiday I would imagine because then it's countdown to maternity will be two months to go!

fedupofrainydays · 23/05/2014 07:17

Well I had a very dirty dream last night Blush all about the guy I fancied through uni. We kissed a few times but nothing more as we were friends, but this dream we did a lot more! Felt a bit odd waking up to my DH! I remember seeing this bloke randomly in the city when I was preg with my son and getting all flustered and hiding! Mainly as was looking rough! I got back to my client and told them all about it - obviously thought I was a little mad. But you know there will always be some people who make you have that reaction!!

fedupofrainydays · 23/05/2014 07:18

11.20 for anomaly scan. Glad I had a filthy dream rather than one that was full of scan doom.

Captainmcgraw · 23/05/2014 07:32

Good luck today Fedup.

Another one on the gallons of gaviscon here. Quite scared as I had bad heartburn last time but not until about 28 weeks. This time it's kicked in at 18.

Also I had a very bald baby...

Kirstipops · 23/05/2014 07:49

Congrats on your scan asanti, yay that you get another one soon too ;) Good luck today fedup, that's good it's in the morning, every one of mine has been 3pm or later!!
No heartburn here yet, thank gawd as I've never really had it before, just the infrequent joy of IBS bouts!

ohthegoats · 23/05/2014 07:57

Enjoy the scans folks.

Our dreams have been very much focused on freedom it seems. LOTS of skiing dreams, which is weird for this time of year. Wide open mountain bowls and deep powder, and just the two of us skiing. I keep dreaming about road trips in Asia (which were my 'thing' in the past, not sure that'll be continuing), mostly in India. Clearly our heads are currently in 'trapped, TRAPPPPPPPPED' frame of mind.

It's the last day of term today, thank god. The boss and I have been bashing heads all term over my maternity leave, it's been exam term so pretty stressful... so I'm off to Cornwall for the weekend with some trash literature, some bubblebath and a bar of chocolate! Going to watch the rain from indoors.

Meanwhile he'll be at home with his parents finishing raised beds in the garden, stripping wallpaper and hopefully erecting a new shed and greenhouse. We won't have a bedroom for a child, but we'll have nice tomatoes and cucumbers.

HopefulHamster · 23/05/2014 08:10

Good luck for your scan fedup!

Stargirl7 · 23/05/2014 08:26

'Delurking'...Congrats to all you all and all wonderful news. We had ours yesterday and have to have a repeat in two weeks because baby was lying on its front again, so they couldn't check lips or heart vessels. Everything else looked fine apart from short femur (dating at 19 wks not 20...meeep) but OH and I are very short ( 5.3'' and 5.6'' respectively!) but she did manage to find out we are...TEAM PINK! My first baby and my first little girl Smile

Grannyapple · 23/05/2014 08:47

Congrats on all the lovely scan news! Mine is next Friday...

Re: pregnancy yoga-I was never into yoga at all but tried it last time & it was actually great...really helped me with my breathing through the contractions. Now I've fine back again...is the only rest I'll get from the 2 kiddies so I'm going for it Grin.

Re heartburn-yes it's kicked in earlier here too...I did have it a bit with DD (none with DS)...& DD had far more hair than DS did..(DS was baldy til he was about 1Grin).

queen yes I've had the same looks since being back at work. First big team meeting today since being back...not sure everyone knows but I know some do so I'm hoping all the gossiping has been done already about it!

Defo feel huge now...felt as if I'd sprouted yesterday...& now getting uncomfy & I'm almost just halfway through...god help me for the rest of the pregnancy...

Good luck to everyone else having their scans today!

Me23 · 23/05/2014 08:54

Hey everyone so good to hear all the good scan news :-) I've been trying to update the stats thread with gender or suprise! But it's hard work trawling through this busy thread! Those who have had scans can you just reply with girl boy or suprise.

Also goats you're not on the stats for some reason? When is your EDD? Also have fun in Cornwall so jealous I need a break, went to bed at 8 last night!

Good luck for scans today I have mine later, hope baby is ok.

Me23 · 23/05/2014 09:06

Oh god my post was Number 666 this didn't help the nerves!

LondonJen · 23/05/2014 11:29

Congrats on good scans! Will be nice to see baby again Queen

Good luck Fedup and Me and any others. Thanks for doing stats me I am Londonjen EDD 8th October Team Pink

DP brought flowers home for me last night for "having a good womb" ha ha! He is also struggling with the kicking thing. I asked him last night if he wanted to feel and he said 'no thank you' Sad It makes me feel a bit alone in it. But he did then explain nothing happens so he'd rather wait till it's madly obvious. Thing is he only waits a few seconds before he gives up and the kicking often is just one offs with a wait inbetween.. Ah well. I guess there's time.

Can you really just go to normal Aquafit class? As there's no aquanatal near me either, it never occurred to me to see if I could do the usual one, doh!

Baby's sleeping bag just arrived! Awwwwww. Who knows if will weigh enough to use it straight off but was only £13 from asda. Is Tigger on navy blue so unisex so can show dp!

Georgebythesea · 23/05/2014 11:40

Mines a boy :)

Loulou888 · 23/05/2014 11:48

Good luck everyone having their scans and lovely to hear all the good news!

london it's pretty much the same. Maybe aquanatal might have you practicing some breathing! It's all low impact

mum2kiss · 23/05/2014 12:11

Not anywhere near Manchester I'm afraid! Dp has calmed down a bit now and isn't panicking for a new car! We've got someone to look at it who isn't looking to rip us off so we should be able to get it repaired for under £500 so he can sort out a new car later in the year.

YellowWellies · 23/05/2014 13:33

I'd not go to a normal Aquafit class TBH - a fair few of the exercises aren't appropriate and I'd feel like a whale.

Goats I wanted to kidnap a MW home with us when we left hospital. By the time you unpack the car there'll be a poo appeared or baby squawling to be fed or cuddled. Don't worry they'll have a plan!

fedupofrainydays · 23/05/2014 14:08

All looking normal at our scan Grin and for the stats - we are a Surprise!

Big phew in this camp. Knackered after I think all the nerves and adrenaline.

FlipFantasia · 23/05/2014 15:42

Great news Fedup! And to all others with good scans.

Ours was great on Wed - having a surprise! And was lovely to see bubs again. He/she is measuring 4 days ahead but they'll keep my edd as 7/10 instead of moving it to 3/10 (which I'm relieved about as means less pressure about going past my due date, which is good for a vbac!).

But now home with two sick kids. My two year old dd is particularly sick - temp, off food, just wants to nurse (will she ever wean?! Gah, not wanting to tandem nurse and got to figure out how to wean before October!). Hate when they're both sick at the same time...

Loulou888 · 23/05/2014 16:05

I did aquafit with my last 2 pregnancies. Quite nice during day time as not many people go. You'd be surprised how many pregnant people go (prob coz there is no aquanatal) the instructor tells you if there is something you can't do and Lways asks if anyone's pregnant. Doing breAstroke does more harm. It's pretty tame in the water when you are used to a harder workout on land.

gunwalloe · 23/05/2014 16:11

We are of to Cornwall at 5:30 am should be fun! Hopefully we will find a house this time although it will cause a nightmare with the birth and deciding what to do and where to have her. I'm hoping my body plays ball I keep getting breathless my iron came back ok so I'm not sure why my ankles keep ballooning to if I walk to much I'm just going to see how much or little I can handle when we get there
