Ive always heard that back to back labours are more painful trouble. I think I'll still do the elbow thing if this baby presents face up...just In case! Lol!

mum2kiss · 20/05/2014 19:23

Those that have 2 or more children, did you find you coped better with the first baby than the ones that followed?! My friend told.me she coped really well with baby number 1 but then just started screaming hysterically when she arrived at the delivery suite in labour with number 2! She said she was fine right up until the doors opened and then she completely lost control! THIS SCARES ME!!! Lol!

Kirstipops · 20/05/2014 19:28

LOL mum2kiss, time to click the play button on the hypnotherapy CD I think! :P

gunwalloe · 20/05/2014 19:34

Mum2kiss I felt more in control on the 2nd and 3rd and 4th was doing ok until she started misbehaving ( I won't put story here as don't want to scare anyone )

mum2kiss · 20/05/2014 19:41

Lol kirsti you may be right! I feel like I coped as well as was possible with dd but not sure how I would regain composure if I completely lost it lol!

Kirstipops · 20/05/2014 20:01

I was the most chilled out ever when I was going in for my theory test (wooooorlds away from labour, I know!!!) but I do think having listened to the hypnotherapy cd beforehand yesterday morning helped keep me calm! A young lad next to me had the most twitchy legs ever as he sat waiting to go in to take the test, I wanted to put my hand on his knee in a friendly manner and say "One.....two....three.....relax" haha!

Loulou888 · 20/05/2014 20:05

No one told me mum that ds was back to back. ExPlained why I couldn't sleep or lie on my back for the last 3 months. It was more painful but it was short and too far gone for painkillers which I was cross about lol. I knew what to expect so easier than my first.

Bumpforme2014 · 20/05/2014 20:08

Has anyone else got swollen ankles, just noticed mine are a little swollen and don't think that's a good sign.

YellowWellies · 20/05/2014 20:34

Bump I've got swollen fingers. I'm having to take my wedding ring etc off at night. I had to stop wearing them entirely by 7 months last time. It can be a sign of pre-eclampsia but if your wee samples are normal don't worry. Mine was just fluid retention.

I just made a cheeky offer on my dream double buggy - £800 new, normally £350+ on eBay - I got it for £220 from a lady moving house who needs rid! Am vair chuffed. Grin

mum2kiss · 20/05/2014 20:37

Cool yellow!

Loulou888 · 20/05/2014 20:37

Great buy yellow I've also got swollen fingers and have to take my rings off too. I'm holding a lot of fluid already

MundayCakes85 · 20/05/2014 20:38

Bump I have swollen cankles ankles, noticed it after a long drive yesterday. Sat on sofa with my legs propped up. Also had rubbing thighs over the weekend with the heat, painful Sad
Great to hear all the good scan news and team colours, we're happy to stay yellow and wait for a suprise!

Kirstipops · 20/05/2014 20:59

So good to hear about the scans! Looking forward to hearing about more!
Good job Yellow! I got a proper bargain on Gumtree with my "travel system" pram too, was uber chuffed!

pinkfizzsparkles · 20/05/2014 21:03

It's been ages since my last post but I'm always lurking. I was really sorry to hear your sad news matildasmum I can't begin to imagine how you must be feeling.

I'm 21 weeks now and have had my scan. Team pink here! we weren't going to find out and them did at the last minute. I've also got an anterior placenta which explains the lack of kicks I've been feeling compared with my previous 2 pregnancies. I had a bit of a google and panicked myself when I read that there's an increased risk of a back to back birth which is supposed to be longer and more painful. Anybody else heard this? or should I step away from google.

It's great to hear all the scan news I can't believe we're half way through. I feel huge already so can't quite contemplate another 20 weeks of growth!!

YellowWellies · 20/05/2014 21:16

Pink I had an anterior placenta (they're very common in tummy sleepers!) and a back to back. My sister had two anterior placenta pregnancies and neither was back to back. It's certainly not a given. Back to back labours aren't always longer but contractions are usually more frequent (the body's way of trying to turn the baby) mine were every 2 minutes, and quite often you don't get a pain free gap in between. Mine felt just like I imagined labour - not as bad as I'd heard by any means. But gas and air proved to be vair good shit!

mrsb87 · 20/05/2014 21:16

My ankles Ms and fingers are swelling up a bit, no wedding rings for me!

Buggerlugs I was 22 weeks first time round. Could be later if you are a sporty type with good abs. Us jelly bellies (thanks DS1 cake) feel movement earlier.

Kirstipops · 20/05/2014 21:38

Buggerlugs I have an anterior placenta and I'm 21+3, I've only felt definite movement in the last 10-14 days, I think after my 20 week scan (when I was 20+2) and seeing and feeling where the sonographer was pressing down on my tum I was then more aware of where the baby was (particularly the feet!) so any twinges I could definitely pin down as being baby movement! DH had his hand firmly on my tum in bed at the weekend and even felt a wee wriggle :) Drinking cold water, or slumped on my settee post-Bio Oil tummy rub in the early evening is when I feel it most! Not keeping me up though thankfully, in fact it's really just the odd leg cramp that tends to wake me up, I'm not having to get up and pee in the night or anything, is this symptomatic of my apparently gynormous bladder or are some of you normal-sized bladdered mums the same?

pinkfizzsparkles · 20/05/2014 21:45

Thanks yellow, it's not conclusive then. I'm a big fan of the gas and air too!

Bugs I've only felt movement since about 19 weeks (3rd pregnancy)and it's very slight and only at the bottom right of my uterus. With my other pregnancies I felt movement at 17 weeks. I was starting to worry about lack of movement so having the scan and being told its anterior put my mind at rest. I only feel anything when I'm lying down flat in the evening.

ohthegoats · 20/05/2014 21:51

I mean seriously.. my mum can't see a face in this picture. As far as I'm aware, there is nothing wrong with her eyesight. Hmph..

Kirstie I constantly need to wee! I probably get up about 4 times a night. I feel desperate and its literally a trickle! My pelvic
floors are buggered, I really need to try and improve them if its possible at this stage. I even succumbed to buying tena lady last week as every time I sneeze/cough I wee a bit!! I was mortified at their size, they were like newborn nappies so have reverted back to a good always ultra! Surely this is only going to get worse!!

YellowWellies · 20/05/2014 22:09

pink me too. Am off to preggo yoga to try to sort it out. Haven't been right since 25 weeks with J. My pelvic floor is a sad joke now Sad .

pinkfizzsparkles · 20/05/2014 22:23

Let me know if it does the trick. There's nothing glamorous about pregnancy is there?!
