mrsb your weekend sounds lovely. V jealous!!!

I've had cramping on and off and was told only to go in to the drs if I had really heavy bleeding too.

I've not felt any movement for ages and couldnt pick up a heartbeat on our prenatal listening thing we got. I know its prob all ok but having small worries as I have been so stressed with the house move and ridiculous amounts of work.

I know stress isnt good for a baby but I cant imagine a few weeks of stress would hurt?

fedupofrainydays · 20/05/2014 07:45

Does anyone have any good suggestions for a maternity tankini or cossie? Not sure am up for getting the 5 month preg belly out on holiday - thanks!

fedupofrainydays · 20/05/2014 07:49

binky I've been so stressed this preg - mostly with worry after mcs but also work and building work and losing my horse.

I then got stressed that my stress was harming baby.

Midwife said it doesn't do the baby harm but it also doesn't do anyone any good so to try and stop (easier said than done). So I tried to find ways of dealing with it with mixed success!

binkybunny · 20/05/2014 07:50

If you're worried mrsb give your midwife a call. Sorry I had posted before I saw this mornings post!

ohthegoats · 20/05/2014 07:51

Mrsb - I think it depends on whether you have a midwife to call! I don't really have someone I'd ring about relatively low level things, I've not met a local midwife at all. When I mentioned the pains at my 17 week consultant appointment, he just said 'it happens', and said that if I had other issues, like bleeding, then it was an issue, but otherwise it's just stretching. I don't know about you, but prior to being pregnant, I had a coil and my uterus constantly hurt. I just think I've got a precious darling of a womb, which doesn't like anything anywhere near it, so shouts a lot. I've had a variety of different cramp type pains, more so since I actually started getting bigger, and none of them feel 'wrong' really - just stretchy, even though some have made me sit down pretty quickly.

Kirstipops · 20/05/2014 07:59

fedup I got a nice tankini cossie from Matalan, the top and bottoms are only attached at the back, so the bit at the front has room for growth! Seems like good booby support too. Bought it for my girlie spa day this weekend, can't come quick enough!

TroubleAndFyfe · 20/05/2014 08:24

Scan at 9.15! Good luck to the other scanners today.

tak1ngchances · 20/05/2014 08:34

Good luck trouble!

bumpbangbump · 20/05/2014 09:20

Good luck scanners!

Loulou888 · 20/05/2014 09:22

fedup I got a really nice one from mothercare. The top is quite generous around bump. I got one from topshop that was tiny. No way it would fit me at 23 weeks when we go on hol.

YellowWellies · 20/05/2014 09:29

Goats I had a coil before my first pregnancy too and I think it might have led to me having an irritable uterus (to go with the irritable rest of me) in my first pregnancy. An irritable uterus stretches and contracts earlier than it should. Be careful as I was told I'd be unlikely to get beyond 37 weeks pregnant with one as the irritability leads to contractions. I started getting regular proper contractions (not BH) from 28 weeks (at the time it was terrifying given our family history of prem delivery at 27 weeks but if it happens this time I won't panic as it all worked out well in the end and the docs weren't worried) and as a result was scanned every four weeks to check my cervix wasn't thinning and to check everything was ok with the baby. I was given steroids later on in pregnancy just in case the wee one came early to help develop his lungs.

I wouldn't mention it at your 20 week scan as the sonographers can't do much about it - but do mention it at your first MW appointment afterwards. It's a pretty common condition, gives you a bit of a clue about labour (as you get to feel some mild contractions but with massive gaps to recover inbetween - I was getting 10-20 contractions a day for the last trimester so don't worry its not crippling), and is easily managed by the docs but you may need some extra care. J turned up at 36 weeks on the nose, and bar jaundice from a head bump caused by the ventouse (nothing to do with the irritable uterus) was absolutely fine. I have to confess I am still relieved that I missed that horrible last month of labour when you are a big farting, weeping, moody, heartburny, insomniac whale. Grin

Good luck for scans!

YellowWellies · 20/05/2014 09:31

Last month of PREGNANCY not labour!!!! Sorry!

YellowWellies · 20/05/2014 10:18

And it totally might not be an irritable uterus but if it continues and you get real tightenings not Braxton hicks speak to your MW.

A way to tell if you are experiencing real contractions rather than BH is that BH tend to go away if you change activity i.e. so if you are getting BH whilst sitting get up and walk around and they should go and vice versa - a real contraction is likely to be more comfortable when active but it won't stop, BH are only 30 -50 seconds or so whereas a contraction is a minute plus, BH can be uncomfortable but shouldn't be painful. I wouldn't be surprised if we all start getting BH soon.

mrsb87 · 20/05/2014 10:46

Just spoken to the midwife unit and initially they wanted me to go for a checkup this afternoon. She asked me where I was at the moment, I told her at work, she suddenly changed her mind and decided I was fine and that I didn't need to see anyone. I had no choice but to come into work today as there was no one else to open the shop! I'm now sat in the office worrying Sad

TroubleAndFyfe · 20/05/2014 11:01

Wonderful scan, all healthy and a baby girl! I'm over the moon! Smile

sazzlehopes · 20/05/2014 11:10

Matlidasmum I'm so sorry about your baby boy. Take care of yourself. x

Mrsb - maybe see how you are later? It is awful to be worrying though, so if you are still in pain and worried then I'd ring again - it will do no harm.

That is great news trouble, what have you already again?

bumpbangbump · 20/05/2014 11:15

Congrats trouble! Baby girl for us too. So weird!!

tak1ngchances · 20/05/2014 11:32

Congratulations trouble so glad it went well

LondonJen · 20/05/2014 12:19

So sorry Matildasmam please take care of yourself

ohthegoats · 20/05/2014 12:28

Yellowwellies - interesting! History of premature in my family too - not by much, but around 35 - 36 weeks (I was a month early, my brother too). I still reckon I'll be late for some reason, just gut feeling. I'm not worried so long as it gets to 35. Prefer to be a September rather than August for the school year, but I suppose there isn't much I can do about it.

Now in full on gibber mode about scan... it's ridiculous. My biggest fear is the no heart beat thing... stupid as I could feel it moving this morning. I reckon we'll be team pink, but not going to officially ask (and will ask them to tell us when to look away if it seems obvious).

LondonJen · 20/05/2014 12:28

Thanks Gun very helpful to know.

Well done Kirsti

Fedup I am really pleased with my JoJoMamanBebe tankini. It's the only one that supported/covered my boobs and the bottoms can be worn up over bump or folded down. Have yet to find the energy to swim in it mind!

Wonderful scan news ladies Smile Can't wait for mine

tak1ngchances · 20/05/2014 13:09

I am at the bus stop going to scan goats and gibbering would be quite an accurate description of me too!

TroubleAndFyfe · 20/05/2014 13:23

We have a boy sazzle Smile

binkybunny · 20/05/2014 13:28

Great news on the scans! I have been a bit less stressed today and have felt flutters during a meeting earlier so I am presuming all is ok in there.

Mrsb if you're still worried I'd call back.

Great tips about the tankinis too. I was supposed to start aquanatal this week but found out I dont have anything to swim in that fits!
