Ah yes it says in notes you get it at 25 weeks app with midwife, seems like ages away, kind of want to get my end date sorted now so my boss knows and I can properly countdown!

My oh just woke me up because I was making noise in my sleep. I have slept so badly this preg, and especially the past few weeks with stress from work, that I told him he could fuck right off to the spare room! I have spent many a night listening to his bloody snoring!!!

As for booze, he only has to go no booze for the last month. We're not big drinkers anyway so the occasional beer doesn't bother me. If he started drinking gin I might feel different... I really want a g&t.

bumpbangbump · 19/05/2014 04:00

Oh, and I have my scan today!! Gonna be feeling pretty tired by then...

binkybunny · 19/05/2014 07:11

Morning all. Well back to work today after 3 days off to move house and I am knackered! Def better energy levels but still not pre-pregnancy and so frustrating not being able to lift and carry boxes and furniture. Wishing I had a few days off now to unpack some more boxes and just relax. Can't wait to sort out the room that will be the nursery and start decorating it :-)

Good luck for scans today!

Kirstipops · 19/05/2014 07:27

Good luck with your scan bump!
Thanks very much buggerlugs, I have the CD already, I wanted to try it out first to see if I bought into it all before ordering the book!

fedupofrainydays · 19/05/2014 07:43

Good luck for those having scans today!

Started off the day in a good mood for ds to have a wee accident straight off. Agh potty training is so frustrating. Tempted to revert to nappies but can't decide if this means just back at square one in a couple of mknths when closer to due date.

ohthegoats · 19/05/2014 07:52

Well, I haven't potty trained anyone, but I know that my SIL tried with my nephew, and gave up - put him back in nappies. 4 weeks later he pretty much did it on his own.

ohthegoats · 19/05/2014 07:55

Oh, and I'm currently eating a mini Magnum as my breakfast pudding. This poor child...

YellowWellies · 19/05/2014 08:06

Bump fecking pregnancy insomnia has kicked in here. Restless arms and legs and fluid retention and unable to get comfy. Argh. Five more months of that! Balls!!! I love being pregnant during the day HATE it at night.

I'm the drinker in our relationship DH barely drinks so I'm lucky not being tortured by him drinking. I do find tonic and lemon not a bad substitute for G&T though.

Binky now you don't have to tell your OH this but if I'm OK carrying a 20 odd pound toddler - you could carry some boxes if you really really wanted! Look at women in the developing world - its only here we treat pregnancy as a disability. If you don't want to carry boxes keep schtum! Wink

gunwalloe · 19/05/2014 09:38

My midwife forward dated my Matb1 at the 16 week I just needed to go and get it stamped at the docs.

I didn't see any midwife at my 20 week scan just the sonographer

Baby's wobbling my belly when she moves now I love this part of pregnancy

FrauEnglischLehrerin · 19/05/2014 10:12

Fedup - how old is your ds? Round here people don't do cold turkey potty training, they get the child to sit on the potty at certain times of the day (first thing, after meals, while running a bath) and keep the child in nappies until they start asking to use the potty. Might be a halfway option for you until the summer when you can do bare bum outside more.

I have also given in to coffee cravings despite being completely caffeine-free last pregnancy. Funny how much more relaxed you are second time round, even though the risks are identical!

FrauEnglischLehrerin · 19/05/2014 10:23

In the same vein, binky, I am also not being remotely careful what I carry. My ndn questioned whether I was "allowed" to hold her 3 mth old for 15 mins, I had to giggle since he is far lighter than the 45 litre bags of compost I lug up from the garage.

There are ways to carry that are better and worse for your body, though. If anyone's interested, the Katy Says blog has lots to say on how to use your body the way it's evolved for - quite a lot on there about pregnancy and baby carrying and child development btw. Can't link on the phone app, I'm afraid.

LondonJen · 19/05/2014 10:32

Lol Bump you tell him! Good luck today.

First time mum questions now! So in the pile of stuff my friend gave me there are bibs but they say '6-9 months' on them. It never occurred to me bibs might have a age thing on!? But maybe it's just because they came as part of a set with baby grows? I guess if there's a big gap around baby's neck then that defeats the purpose but are these really for use later and not first few months? Then I started thinking, does a baby wear a bib when it's just bf-ing anyway?? And then I realised I know nothing and need advice please!! TIA

sazzlehopes · 19/05/2014 10:37

Hi all, just popping in to catch up on your news after a glorious sunny weekend here. My scan is later today at 1pm so I'll pop in after. FX all is well, but it still doesn't stop the worrying!

Bump good luck with yours too!

goats i'm desperate for a magnum now!!

Hi ladies...most employers require you to notify them "officially" 15 wks before baby's due date...so that's 25wks...& by officially, they mean the MATb1 form.

My mw gave me mine at a 17wk appointment & forward dated it too, so I've not to hand it in until then (but will be 20 wks by then so still in time for work).

Yes to carrying heavy loads...I was paranoid when preggo last time, but now I have no choice so carry DS when he needs it (he's 17kg!) & DD (think she's only about 11kg). Just go with what you're used to doing...if you normally carry heavy-ish stuff then I would continue...your body will still tell you when to stop! In saying that...my back has been in agony after taking DS to rugby yesterday...need to get my gym ball back out me thinks...

Good luck to everyone with scans today & this week.

I'm in work today, then off the next two & wed is child free -woo hoo! Looking forward to a peaceful lunch with a friend then!

YellowWellies · 19/05/2014 10:50

BF babies don't need bibs. 6-9 months was about the only period we used them (weaning onto solids) after that the wee feck would take them off and hand me them!!! Bottle fed babies do need bottles as the feed is more poured than suckled and they can be really messy especially if on too fast a teat.

LondonJen · 19/05/2014 12:15

Thanks Yellow! He he you've got a cheeky monkey there!! So I will move 'bibs' from my list of purchases to the 'future' section and can always get some if bf not successful. Sorted!

New query as suspect I will want to buy things after Thursday's scan: For October babies will I want to layer short sleeve/no leg body thingy under a long sleeve/with legs all in one? With feet? I don't want to buy the cutest thing only to find I've got the wrong thing!

All starting to feel a bit real now Smile

ohthegoats · 19/05/2014 12:25

LondonJen - this is what I've managed to work out from various lists from friends of 'essentials'.

I was going to go for 10 x short sleeved poppered vest things, and 10 x long sleeved babygro things. I'll count up what I'm being given, then make up the shortfall to 10 with some nice jazzy coloured ones.

Then I'm going to have 3 or 4 cardi type things to put on top for when it gets colder. I suppose it might already be colder.. depends.

2 x hats for the beginning and when it's colder later, and socks to put on underneath babygro if needed when it gets even colder later.

I'm going for the sleeping in a bag option, so maybe 3 of those - I've got 2 in the pile to come from SIL. Oh, and my colleagues are going to buy me the fleecy star thingy for the car that bods on here have been talking about.

Think that's it for clothes stuff.

ohthegoats · 19/05/2014 12:25

Oh, and I'm going to stick with those clothes options, obviously in different growing sizes, until the child is crawling. No 'jeans for 3 month olds' for me.. can't be doing with the faff.

bumpbangbump · 19/05/2014 13:26

Scan was fab and we've moved from team yellow, which I was adamant we would stay as, to team pink!!! I literally can't believe it as I was so sure that I wanted another boy and that he was definitely going to be a boy.

I am over the moon!

bumpbangbump · 19/05/2014 13:27

Oh and I want a mini magnum... Now!!

YellowWellies · 19/05/2014 13:29

Goats you are so wise - getting jeans on a newborn is akin to dressing an octopus. They've a whole life to wear 'outfits'. They're so cute in babygrows. Mine are in them for 6 months at least. I do however hate folding the bloody things! I'd get some long sleeve vests as well depending on how warm your house is. Its better from a SIDS perspective to have the house relatively cool at night and wrap baby in a snug sleeping bag than to have the heating on lots.

Thinking of the lifting question - last pregnancy our wee island cottage had solid fuel heating via a Rayburn so I was lugging buckets of coal and log bags day in day out - otherwise the heating would have gone out.

Good luck scan folks!

YellowWellies · 19/05/2014 13:30

Bump awwwww congratulations !!!!

mum2kiss · 19/05/2014 13:34

Lol what made you move from team yellow bump?! Yay for pink bumps ;)

Goats I went in for the sleeping bag thing...dd hated them. I will try again with this baby but just thought I'd give you the heads up!

Melting in my 27 degree office today! Need to finish up work so that I can go home!!
