fedup yes! I really lost the taste for coffee in the first trimester, it tasted burnt or something. Tea just tasted generally wrong, like it was too milky even when it wasn't. It's come back now though, but since the only coffee I like is strong filter coffee I've had to limit myself to one a day!
Happily yesterday was the only wedding we've been invited to this year, next year I have 2, in March and May. The March one is in Dublin, which I prob would have given a miss if I was preg, would be too heartbreaking to go to a big fat Scottish/Irish wedding sober I think haha!
Furiously studying for my theory test tomorrow, as always I have left it too late and realising I have not the best reactions to/perception of hazards...doh

bumpbangbump · 18/05/2014 12:52

Me to with the coffee, and all hot drinks including herbal teas! Back on the decaf now and can't wait for some proper coffee in a few months.

mum2kiss · 18/05/2014 13:09

Im not really into hot drinks but I did find myself makinga cup of coffee in the office this week!

This morning I had a desire for cuppa soup...I then paid for that by melting on the sofa!

Bumpforme2014 · 18/05/2014 14:08

Oh gosh yes coffee was what I missed most in first tri, went back to it only two weeks ago and it tastes better then ever. I do find people judge me though as many people think your not allowed it or it's bad for baby but both are wrong! I only ever had one a day anyway, think your allowed two a day. Isn't it weird how your body makes you go off things like that.

Kirstipops · 18/05/2014 14:09

Soooo can't wait for payday, dying to buy some baby bits, my mum is stockpiling and I haven't bought ANYTHING myself yet. Want to order the Natal Hypnotherapy and Ina May Gaskin books, some baby-grows and reusable nappies. (Have also chilled the fk out re: hazard perception test, having found out you don't have to point at it then click, duhrrrr.)

Hope you're all having a lovely Sunday!

Me23 · 18/05/2014 15:58

I have a strong coffee once a day couldn't survive without it.

Went into mothercare and cancelled the britax buggy and car seat, and put in maxi cosi cabriofix and easy base instead they were on offer.

We are going to get a 2nd hand pushchair instead.

Scan next week will buy baby's first outfit after that I think. (Hope everything is ok at scan)

ohthegoats · 18/05/2014 16:55

Me too. Not buying anything big until the summer holidays (so, around 30 weeks), but will buy something cute after the 20 week scan (Tuesday), just because.

Ace weekend - I feel almost myself at the moment. Managed to paint a fence, re-pot loads of plants, mow the lawn, dig out the base of a new raised bed and hammer in the stakes. The thought of doing that even a couple of weeks ago would have been a no.

This obviously makes me think something is wrong, cos you know... scan is a couple of days away, so won't be sleeping properly until then.

Oh, and I've not had coffee (I'm de-caf anyway), but I have had a few small glasses of wine. No one seems to have judged me yet, not that I've noticed anyway.

Kirstipops · 18/05/2014 17:16

Goats don't worry about increased energy levels all of a sudden, I've been the same the last week or two, like back to pre-preggo levels even! My two sisters in law said to enjoy it as knackeredness will return in third trimester!
P.S. well done on your productive day!

ohthegoats · 18/05/2014 17:24

Yep, pre-pregnant self is almost here. Apart from the massive hunger for fruit.

What was quite cool yesterday, was going out with a friend who has an 8 month old. She was totally 'yeah, labour is shit, but not that shit..' - she had a long labour that ended in episiotomy, a further tear and forceps.. yet she was saying it's 'not that shit'. And, she announced she's not going back to work, so will be around during my mat leave... along with another friend who is almost 20 weeks but hasn't gone public yet (so I'm not supposed to know). YAAAAAY.. it made a huge difference to my feelings about mat leave in general, before yesterday I was dreading it. Now that two good mates are off too, all will be fine.

Pregnantagain7 · 18/05/2014 19:01

Hi all may I join you? I did pop on a once or twice a couple of months ago, I'm due on the 13 oct and it will be dc4 my youngest is only 8 months so I'm a bit nervous about having a small age gap!

Ohthegoats it's so nice when people are positive about the whole labour and birth thing I never understand these women who like to terrify others about it!

I've been looking at double buggies and can't make a decision if anyone has any experience/advice would be greatly appreciated:)

Glad to here lots of people are feeling better i even managed a cheeky bottle of Budweiser in the sunshine today! :)

ExcitedCJ · 18/05/2014 19:01

Goats it's great to have maternity leave to share with friends. I was really lucky with DD as I had 3 friends near to me, one in walking distance to have some adult normality with. The walking distance friend has taken a career break after her 3rd DC so will off again to play with!
I too have found the love of caffeine again & am having to really hold back from having more than one diet coke. Am drinking decaf tea to get my tea fix.
I'm also finding smells really intensified & my perfume smells extra amazing on me! I nearly sniffed my wrist up my nose earlier! If I liked it before I love it now & if I have issues with a smell it now makes me gag. Eg. Alcohol on breath, garlic on breath etc.
In other news here is a pic of my 18/19 wk belly depending on LMP date or last scan.
I'm also saving buying anything until 20 wk scan & then I will be on Tuppence & Crumble to buy the Star blanket!

TroubleAndFyfe · 18/05/2014 19:34

I never went off coffee! I mainly drink decaf anyway so haven't had to change habits really. For the last couple of weeks I've found I'm not really enjoying any savoury foods which is getting to me a bit! I just want sugar! Sweets, ice cream, doughnuts, cake. Eek. Poor baby!

porcito · 18/05/2014 19:52

Aargh coffee. This is the one thing I haven't given up but found so hard to cut down. Apart from drinking beer, there's little else to do in my tiny town apart from meet for coffee...I've gone over the recommended amount way too often. Could explain why my baby's never still... I try to have just one a day in the morning, but it's so hot here sometimes an iced coffee in the afternoon saves my life. I'm also drinking way too much coke. At least I'm not injecting heroin, I suppose!

Is anyone else's DP as clueless as mine?! He's excited and wants to be interested in things, but has about a 20 second attention span when I'm trying to ask him what he thinks about things to buy for the baby. Disposable or reusable nappies: whichever you think. He's got no opinion on anything, aargh.

The only opinion he's had : I was looking at slings in a baby shop earlier: ''they're for lazy people," he said, as every mother in the shop looked ready to strangle him with their 'lazy' free hands.

STIGZ · 18/05/2014 20:13

Does anyone else who enjoys drinking alcohol think their other half should give it along with their pregnant lady?

Would you if it was the other way around?

Me & dp where discussing this last night(while he was enjoying his beers) ... Intresting conversation !!

STIGZ · 18/05/2014 20:14

*give it up

Pregnantagain7 · 18/05/2014 20:25

stigz it would be nice for my oh to give up alcohol too, somehow I don't think this will happen though, i think he's enjoying having a taxi driver too much!

He does however give up for the last few weeks (a god do I know about it!) so he can drive me to hospital if I go into labour. Good job too I can't imagine someone breathing beer fumes on me while I'm in labour ugh! Grin

fedupofrainydays · 18/05/2014 20:35

We ended up with an impromptu BBQ this afternoon with out neighbours plus kids. I'm worried I have kept going all
Afternoon without feeling too crap. Just sat down now and am knackered but pretty sure haven't felt baby move all day so feel a bit nervous again.

No, I don't expect my husband to give up booze but I don't find it that hard to give up when pregnant (except weddings are quite hard) But of he's really drunk or snoring and smelly he has to sleep in spare room! I think if it really bothered me he wouldn't drink in my face though. I don't think he would give up but wouldn't go reaching for the cold beer of I was complaining I want one!

ohthegoats · 18/05/2014 21:35

I don't expect him to give up booze, but it still winds me up a bit when he drinks loads. Usually because it involves being all sociable and out too, which I haven't been able to do - it's awful being with loads of pissed people, isn't it.

Bumpforme2014 · 18/05/2014 21:44

Oh question for 20 week scanners, my work said I need my MATB1 form usually given at 20 weeks scan as they need that to sort my mat pay etc did you get yours ? I have never heard of such a thing and didn't even get told about the prescription form thing until I was at chemist picking up my meds, have applied for it now but still don't have it ggrrr

BingoBango85 · 18/05/2014 21:47

My midwife said she'd give it to me at my 24 week appointment as it was one of the questions I asked. Can't imagine it's ultrasounds responsibility x

Loulou888 · 18/05/2014 21:54

Is it not the notes given to you by the midwife?

Loulou888 · 18/05/2014 21:55

The initial ones that you always keep until birth?

LondonJen · 18/05/2014 21:56

Am SO back on the tea again Fedup! The thought of warm milk was gross until last week and now I am happily having a cup or two every day.

Cute bump *excited!

I am jealous goats. I don't have anyone nearby nevermind someone with a baby. Ah well have to make the effort and meet new people!

Kirsti you made me lol on hazard perception. I only learnt to drive a few years ago. One reason I want to use the hypno approach for the birth is because I used Paul McKenna to help me with confidence for driving and it made a massive difference.

Dp came in steaming last night. I don't mind that so much (he has suffered today!) compared to when he gets a nice cold beer to have with tea. Then I get very jealous. I suspect I will have a small glass of something at some point but right now it doesn't take a lot to make me burp and I can't be adding alcohol fizz into that mix! Sure it would result in sicky burps eugh! I wouldn't want him to stop though. I'd rather pick my battles eg I can't hoover so you have to do it!

MIL enquired after a Christening today. DP properly batted her down. She is sulking. Not once in 13 years have I heard her mention church but now it's all important. She can't believe we won't consider a baptism. Each to their own but as we are not religious it's not part of our plan. I don't really know why she thought it would be? Hmm

fedupofrainydays · 18/05/2014 21:56

Yes, ask for it from your gp / mw after the scan. It's not something the sonographers do.

LondonJen · 18/05/2014 21:58

Bump I was told the same as Bingo will get it from midwife at 25 wk appt
