Hi All, thought I would start a 3rd trimester thread, as most are past 23 weeks now!!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
accessorizequeen · 15/09/2006 16:11

redlorry, what a lot of losses in your life, it's not surprising you have those kind of thoughts & how pleased you must be to be in 3rd trimester with your 2nd after m/cs. I think mine are just standard pg worry, it's just I can't get them out of my head somedays & keep reliving horrific scenarios. I can't even glance at a newspaper these days that mentions the dad that threw his son off the hotel balcony, I end up in floods in middle of shop. I did lol at your scenario though, twas quite bridget jones but I do exactly the same thing.
We should cheer ourselves up by ordering some jibb thingies as I got boring black crocs. Think you should sneakily ask your aunt to buy a nice orange pair for you in Vegas! Did you know you can put in dishwasher??!!

Redlorry75 · 15/09/2006 16:22

Well I did happen to metion to Aunt what size Corcs I had to get - so we'll see. But she said DH's Grandad (her dad) had also been eyeing up some squeaky heeled sandals for DD, although she had warned he we might not be best pleased with a sqeak-a-step DD - but he's a one for spoiling his g-grandchildren, and at 81 if it makes him happy go for it!

Like you my PG worries are worse lately with news stories; all this press about Downs Syndrome, as I did'nt have the tests (as mentioned much earlier on this post). Have to say any child I bear (bare?) will be loved, but I wonder how I will cope.

I came back to work after DD was born and around the time of the Beslan siege - I was in floods of tears for weeks wondering what those poor little mites must have gone through and their porr parents powerless on the outside. Still do it now when the anniversaries are in the paper

Also am walking round house spotting teeny cracks and flaws and wondering if it's major subsidence or settlement? And I suppose this will either get better or worse after next week when we have our new windows, facias and guttering done.

Perhaps I will give myself a new MN name - Worrywart or something

castlesintheair · 15/09/2006 16:53

Glad I am not the only one suffering paranoid delusions. I went to bed last night and had a horrible vision of DD being gobbled up by a crocodile. Had to turn on the telly quick & watch banal rubbish.

I'm trying not to think about those weeks after the baby is born. I felt awful with both mine. Hopefully it will be 3rd time lucky and I will be filled with joy and wonder and not tired at all

Good for Davina. Wow 10lbs is a whopper! What sizes where everyone else DCs or is that being nosey?

Have just packed 8 boxes full of books and that is only half a bookcase. Very depressing. We are moving on Thursday, Softymum. Starting to panic a bit now about how much I have to do now. The subject of plenty of nightmares tonight, no doubt.

How was your DD at nursery Elibean if she went again? Mine lasted half an hour before screaming the place down

Redlorry75 · 15/09/2006 16:58

My mum weighed 14lb when born in 1932 (natural birth)
I weighed 10.4 (C-Section - Older mother)
DD weighed 8.01 - so going down nicely in the family.

castlesintheair · 15/09/2006 17:00

Wow, 14lbs in 1932, that's amazing RedLorry!

jabberwocky · 15/09/2006 17:24

So the Crocs brigade has kicked off, eh? I actually bought a pair in the spring when ds got his, but I wasn't really crazy about them. I did put them on again a few days ago though and I'd say they are definitely good for pregnant feet!

I am feeling pretty pleased with myself (Is the correct British expression chuffed?). Went to a consignment shop yesterday and got 2 bouncy chairs, one is Baby Einstein, one is Fisher Price Papasan and a portable swing all for $55!

Elibean · 15/09/2006 17:49

Castles, thanks for asking - she has amazed me, and done her three mornings this week without a problem In fact, I think I've had a much harder time of it than she has Was that the first time your dd was away from you? And how has the rest of ds's week gone? OMG, moving...I'd forgotten, but yikes: you are remarkably calm, hats off!
dd was 7.7lbs at birth, a few days early as I was induced at 39+4 due to high bp. Redlorry, wow - good weights indeed in your family, you must be relieved the trend is downwards

Elibean · 15/09/2006 17:53

The paranoid dreams (awake or asleep) - I'm very relieved to see thats normal too. I dreamt dd was trying to kill me the other night (after a slightly tantrumy weekend) and am peering over the bannisters to see if there are burglars downstairs when I get up for a pee
And I have had loads of scary daydreams about bad things happening to dd recently...think that might be more about nursery than pregnancy, though..

castlesintheair · 15/09/2006 19:03

Yes, Elibean, DD's 1st time away from me (apart from G'parents). I was expecting her to get upset (very clingy at mo). On the paranoia front, I'm concerned as I noticed today that they don't lock the door there and one of DS's chums ran out into the road last year! That's enough to make me think about not sending her on Monday Do you think I'm being overly paranoid due to pg??

DS is doing really well thanks. He's already been invited to a class-mate's birthday party so that's a good sign. He seems really happy and says he loves school. Long may it continue!

castlesintheair · 15/09/2006 19:19

Has anyone seen this daft but funny link

Elibean · 15/09/2006 19:48

Yikes - no, I don't think thats being paranoid. My friend runs a nursery, they lock the door AND have a stairgate across the inner door. dd's nursery I'm not sure if they actually lock the door, but there is a small courtyard beyond it with a gate that is kept closed and monitored by a staff member at all times when kids are outdoors. And even then, it gives onto the green and not a road.
Has anyone tried talking to them about it? What do they have to say?

Tried the link, and saw similar ones pre 20wk scan, and they both say I should be having a boy - defintely not! But fun...

accessorizequeen · 15/09/2006 20:04

ds was 9lb but 2 weeks over.
What is consignment shop, Jabber? Don't think we have them here, but I like the sound of it!
We haven't frightened off newbies from last week, have we? Come back!

jabberwocky · 15/09/2006 20:08

I'll bet you call them something different. It's a resale type of shop and they have some that are only for children. Really wonderful. You know, so many times kids outgrow clothes/toys before they are barely used and you save at least 50% usually more.

Redlorry75 · 15/09/2006 20:10

Paranoia it rules my life, I dont actually like to pee at night as I am scared things are down the loo - X-Files (Toombs episode), Critters, or Dreamcatcher. Dh loves horror, although he would say all those I just mentioned are childrens films. But with stuff like the Ring and the Grudge, which I have never watched, but have been in the room when on really freak me out - I even run away from being under my loft hatch in the dark of night!
And as for the night before last when there was lightening, I stayed in excruciating bladder filled agony under the ducet - sweating like the proverbial pig until it ended and I could pee in the assurance that I would;nt see spooky shapes hiding in the nursery.

jabberwocky · 15/09/2006 20:11

RedLorry, you may get a crash course in getting over the peeing at night thing this last trimester. With ds it was about every 2 hours!

castlesintheair · 15/09/2006 20:13

Well that's interesting to hear Elibean 'cos it says I am having a girl and as I might have said I feel sure I'm having a boy PLUS my Russian man the other day told me it was a boy!!

My DH just told me that apparently my own DS ran out of nursery (but not to the road) last year too He didn't want to worry me at the time. Why do they do that??!! Now I am seriously concerned. Will speak to them on Monday and decide what to do. Humph.

castlesintheair · 15/09/2006 20:15

Redlorry, perhaps you should get a bed pan Are you sure you aren't loading up on cheese before you go to bed?!!

Redlorry75 · 15/09/2006 20:17

Castles - I am on committee of DD pre-school and any incidents like that are logged - check with nursery and see what they say.

Also with regards to lokingof doors, door to 'outside world is always locked, but with the key left in, (at a height of about 5.5ft, so little ones can't reach) in case of a fire etc.

Redlorry75 · 15/09/2006 20:20

Everyone - I do actually pee at night - except in lightening circumstance where I wait for it end and make sure DH is awake (poor him)
Other times I peer down the loo before sitting - ears alert to any strange noises, pee as quickly as possible, reeling of loo paper as I go and then wash hands - without looking in mirror, in case spooky shape of shoulder - Anyone remembers Disney's 'Watcher in the Woods'? then bolt back in to bed, as fast as my bump will allow!

Elibean · 15/09/2006 20:47

Redlorry, how about a nice metal bedpan - that way you get to pee near the safety of bed AND have instant access to a cold surface in case of leg cramps

Ditto thought re newbies, AQ...where are yooooou? Not gone off shopping for Crocs, by any chance?

Elibean · 15/09/2006 20:48

Castles, . Do talk to them, they should come up with something to reassure you or else .

Elibean · 15/09/2006 20:49

Am finally trying tonic water tonight - this restless, achy leg thing is getting too much. I think its helping...

accessorizequeen · 15/09/2006 20:54

Has anyone bought maternity clothes from m&S? If so, what's the sizing like & how long do they take to deliver? I'm desperate for some tops for next week when we go to Centreparcs, have just grown out of a few more things help!

Olihan · 15/09/2006 20:55

Redlorry, that's me peeing in the night to a T!! Even when I'm not pg. I'm actually stupidly scared of the dark, can not watch any kind of scary film or TV programme and have a ridiculously over active imagination. My fear of peeing in the dark comes from a news story when I was about 10 (so we're talking 20 years ago really!!) where a woman went to the loo and there was a snake in it. Freaked me right out so now I have to be able to see inside the loo before I sit down. Fear of the dark is from reading the Famous Five of all things at the same sort of age and in one of the stories a face appears at the window in the middle of the night. If I'm on my own in the house at night I yhave to close all the curtains so my own reflection doesn't scare me!! If I have to go downstairs at night for any reason I run back up 2 at a time once the downstairs light is off. Dh thinks I'm crackers but it's sort of ingrained now! Pg definitely makes it worse though because I lose all sense of rationality .

accessorizequeen · 15/09/2006 20:56

I find myself humming 'there's a redback on the toilet seat' - an old australian ditty about spiders that lurk in outdoor dunnies!
sorry
